Plaza del Azoguejo, 1, 40001 Segovia, Spain, Toledo
Towering Roman aqueduct & grand landmark monument, constructed with 2 tiers and 167 arches.
Great place to walk around, magnificent sights, didnt have a lot of time to spend here unfortunately, but will visit again, and allow a few days to explore!
Lovely place for a day trip. We saw lots of history. Local people are super nice and friendly. Great place to spend an afternoon. I would definitely come back
The fact that this Roman aqueduct was operational until 1973 is incredible. What an engineering achievement!
Absolutely worth the trip! Parking convenient for a large van or motor home. Plenty of dining options.
The sheer wisdom and engineering building this structure is beyond belief!! And not a drop of cement or mortar to be seen. A truly wonderful walk through the streets following the aqueduct, ending up having a chilled glass of wine whilst marvelling at the structure! Recommend
Great place to spend a day trip! Highly recommended and beautiful place
Marvelous eye-catching piece of ancient engineering. Look for the Virgin up high, set in a niche, from cafes on city side.
Very nice structure built in 500 n still standing very strong after more than 1000 years
Very beautiful! Touristy town but not overwhelmingly crowded. I loved the architecture, the kindness of the people in general. Felt very welcomed. I would come back most definitely
Amazing piece of engineering that still stands to this day. Cant believe it was built during the Roman times. It is a sight to see. Just standing next to it was humbling. Highly recommend to take a tour to see it in person or just to Segovia to see it.
Majestic. Absolute stunner. Einstein would be proud of this Roman engineering. Can’t believe this beauty was crafted thousands of years ago. Just love this city. Segovia castle that inspired Disney castles is only a couple footsteps away from here. 90 mins bus ride from Madrid was definitely worth a shot
A fantastic piece of Roman technology and build supplying water to the city. Incredible piece of engineering standing intact after all of these years. Lots of information boards provide details of it history. A must see of Segovia.
Absolutely spectacular and a very pretty city. We spent just a morning here, but would like to return to spend a bit more time here. The aqueduct is an amazing piece of engineering. We thought wed follow it a bit though the city until we learned that its 8km long with a further 7km of additional waterways!Lots to see nearby, with tons of restaurants in the aqueducts shadow. Many serving Segovias famous roaded pigling. Only wish we couldve stopped for one of those! 👌😉
Unique and magnifent Segovia Aqueduct. It was built by the Romans to convey water from the Sierra to Segovia. Its construction was attributed to the devil by legend.
Very beautiful city and view!Lot of places to eat and enjoy your stay.Impressive and massive aqueduct.Safe area and lot of tourists
Was very hot in July but the structure was really beautiful.
A must visit if you are in the area. There are no word to describe this amazing construction by the romans.
Good grief, but how many viaducts / aquaducts does Google want me to review?I prefer this one to the last one. Its older, prettier and doesnt cheat by using cement or other forms of mortar to hold it together, which to me seems like better engineering.Plus its in Spain, so the weather is better. That said, its further from my friends house (see viaduct review). Should it lose a star for that? Plus nothing goes over this one, so maybe it should be three stars at best...
This is probably the most amazing aqueduct I have ever seen, really worth the visit. Walk around and see its huge size before walking up to see the rest of the old town.
This is a great place to visit; while there should also visit the castle. Some really nice restaurants in the area. The lamb is one of the best anywhere in the world.
Our visit to Segovia statted at the Alcazzar fortress and then we crossed the old city to the aqueduct. It is truly amazing to see the beautiful and advanced building methods used by the romans to build this aqueduct. Using no cement or other connecting materials simply applying one granit stone on top of the other. Very well preserved site. Mind it is a very touristic city and the area around the aqueduct was very crowded while we visited the place.
In case youre in Madrid either for work or pleasure, dont miss the chance to approach Segovia and check out this World Heritage monument. It will take your breath away this majestuosity of Aqueduct built in Roman Times, incredibly conserved until now.On the way, also highly recommended visiting The Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso and its gardens. A small Versalles Palace north of Madrid.
Definitely worth the visit and be sure to walk to the top then take the marked journey for the underground canal too - to the cathedral and the alcázar
Location : entrance of center historicalPrice : free 24hoursIts super nice place you can take a drink of eating there . When the sunset coming its super nice and have a lot of bird around . The architecture impressed me a lot .PS: Have parking place near by and bus station
Definitely important to know this amazing edification done almost two millennium ago. So much to explore and understand. Feels that the water system built by the Incas should share similar technically. Goo can visit for free, would be comfortable to have more shading area to breath under the burning sun. How can water in the past not evaporate?
Simply awe-inspiring, don’t forget to make your way up to the viewpoint to see it from another angle
A really nice place to visit. This ancient siete of the roman period is really ancient and magnific. Its really worth a visit in Segovia
Very charming place😍😍😍If you are visiting Madrid, try to include Segovia.👍👍👍
This is a must see if you have the time in Spain. You get to see a Roman archeological structure that amazes you before of the technology used to build something of this size without cement or mortar that still stands today.
To see that structure will tell you about the level of refinement Roman empire reached. Just breathtaking and beautiful. I will go back some day.
The Romans certainly knew how to build some impressive functional structures. Having a fun fare right underneath it spoilt the atmosphere, as did the appearance of several groups of hen and stag revellers who were intent on enjoying themselves to the detriment of everyone else.
I thought the aqueduct was very impressive stretching 750 metres in front of the town. One of many great things to see in Segovia.
The Aqueduct of Segovia is one of the best-preserved elevated Roman aqueducts. In 1985, The Aqueduct of Segovia was announced by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. It is the foremost and the most recognizable symbol of Segovia, Highlighted by its presence in the heart of the city of Segovia. A breathtaking monument, highly recommended to visit.
Must see this example of Roman engineering at its finest in person to believe it. An architectural gem located in Segovia that continues to attract lots of tourists
Awesome..Arrived at 1240pm. Bus from station to Aqueduct is 15 mins (2 Euros per person).Go to Alcazar xCastle first...see the cathedral on the way back...and see the Aqueduct last. Catch the 5pm number 11 bus back to the station for the 1827 train back to Madrid.
Amazing view of the aqueduct from the top of the stairs. When the sun creates shadows with the arches your pictures are even more suggestive.
Amazing to see and touch something this old. Aqueduct is a feat of engineering from the Romans. Great views and they get better as you climb the stairs to get to the top.
Segovia’s symbol, when the weather is nice it is such a nice place to visit and see the shops and the streets. The acuaduct is 28 meters high, and a must see…
Excellent city to visit, also excellent food (Jose Maria Restaurantask for the cochinillo, the Judiones and a Pago de Carraovejas red wine
Unbelievable well preserved roman construction! And its said that the blocks of granite dont have mortar in between. Its standing in beautiful Segovia for more than 2000 years!
This living proof of Roman ingenuity will take your breath away. Hard to believe its stood for nearly two millennia. Stones meticulously placed without mortar held by gravity. Incredible. Make plans to grab lunch or a drink at one of the nearby cafes with this monument in full view.
Its a little raining today but the tour guide made the best for us. Its not like Toledo. You wont get lost here its a straight shot. I recommend seeing this work if art. Its the only aqueduct made with out concrete. Amazing to see it in person. They built it to bring water to the city
Probably my most memorable sight of whole Spain! This roman aqueduct is simply a great pice of ancient engineering. Anyone who is remotely interested in history, architecture or engineering will be amazed by the Aqueduct of Segovia. I would definitely recommend visiting it and seeing it with your eyes!
It is huge and very impressive as you approach the old town. Iconic symbol of Segovia. It is one of the best preserved roman aqueduct. It brought water from the mountains to the city.
Absolutely superb. Amazing after all these years it remains one of the best attractions and Roman sites in northern Spain. We were very lucky that on this visit, despite it being August, that there werent too many tourists. Restaurants and cafés not too full either.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful construction. Amazed by the age and history! You can start your tour in Segovia here and walk around the city. Beautiful at night too!
Beautiful town in spain with its iconic ancient Aqueduct. The old buildings in the town are also beautiful. You can climb up the stairs just behind the aqueduct to see the view of the town and aqueduct from above, which is breathtaking. We were there when it was quite cloudy, and still beautiful, but definitely will be much prettier with clear skies.
Great attraction. Much larger than I thought it would be. Very spacious and clean. Lots of tourists around.
What an amazing piece or architecture and history. Really, this whole town of Segovia which the aqueduct travels through is wonderful. There are lots of tourists, but the roads and shops are a must see. So many photographic moments and friendly conversations to be found here.
This monument is absolutely astonishing especially the view at night. This monumental piece of history it is worth the visit to Segovia and all the restaurants, the church, shops and cafes in this little town are beautiful and charming.
