Aquarium & museum featuring small tanks with live fish & many taxidermied marine life exhibits.
Free admission for first Sunday of the month. There wasnt a great amount to see but passed an hour.
Its pretty small and low key, though fairly priced!
A well maintained little aquarium with a selection of salt and freshwater fish and some other species. It is combined with a natural history museum and a house of experiments.
We enjoyed the museum part, lots of unique taxidermy animals and plants to admire, but the aquarium part was not to my liking. The tanks were way too small for the amount and size of fish present in it. Although there were plenty of different species, it was sad to see as most of the aquariums felt unmaintained and crammed, it could definitely use an update. Price was also a bit steep (€10.30 for adults/ €9.10 for students/seniorsfor what is at most a 2h stay.Overall still enjoyable but I wont be returning any time soon.
Theres alot to see , it very child friendly. Very nice to go with children with .But the Toilets are not clean unfortunately
Some parts of the aquarium could use a compete refresh. Definitely not what I would expect in the modern era. Needs more signage because we almost missed half of the exhibits on the entry floor. Overall it’s a 2 hour experience that is overpriced for what you get. Go to the Public Transportation or Metallurgy and industry museums if you only have the day in Liege
Great aquarium. Very nice collection of species with sharks as the top attraction. The museum has also quite an impressive collection of stuffed animals.
Interesting museum with an OK collection. The fish are in rather tiny tanks, and a lot of the information plates were missing. At the time of our visit, there was renovation work in the building, so sadly we couldnt view the bigger specimens.
It took 1 day to not come down to see the fish because I couldnt make an appointment on the website before coming, so to avoid wasting time, please make an appointment before coming here.
A nice museum that covers not only maritime topics but also has an interactive exhibition for electricity, physics and geology! All of the exebitions are covered in English, French and German. Sometimes in Dutch as wellIt was nice to see sweet- and salt water fishes and also the museum shows how bad the pollution of the oceans is affecting the world, which is a tremendously important topic.
Very nice classic museum
The aquarium and the museum are quite small but very interesting, if you have children and they’re into it. It is a great place to spend a few hours, there is also an science pavilion really nice for the small ones. By the moment we visited some of the aquarium tanks were under renovation/maintenance. And the Planetarium was closed.Keep and eye on the Planetarium and Maison de la Science because it has opening hours different from the rest of the pavilions
The aquarium was very good! Unfortunately we didnt see the upper floor (with the fossils I think...because it was close because of some restoration works. However, no-one told us about it in the entrance. Instead of this, we paid a full price ticket and saw just half of the museum. Unprofessional behaviour...
Interesting fish, including beautiful sharks, and an interactive science museum aimed at children.
Ive had my first date there few years ago I really enjoy this place but we wont lie its a bit oldish also in summer its way too hotPerfect if you want to make some cursed picture
Nice museum. Although it would have been a nicer experience if they offered descriptions in English. Except for some names that were translated into dutch and English here and there everything else was in French. So not the most tourist friendly.
Even despite covid regulation it was a great place with a nice atmosphere. Amazing aquarium and also a great museum part.
Very nice and educational place, we parked at parkingstpaul.be without problems, walking alongside river was fine, museum was free of people, wc available, super entry fee, very good English speaking receptionist, can buy drinks/coffee and some refreshments from wending machines, can spend 2 to 3 hours inside, there is a scientist "museum" right inside the builing with a plenty of smart doings for kids
Very nice place for family time 👌❤️👨👩👦
Interesting museum/aquarium. The building consists of two main floors. They host a big number of stuffed animals on the upper floor from insect life to birds and mammals. Additionally the basement contains a beautiful collection of aquaria including the fish from "finding nemo" and some exotic "eyeless" fish from dark caves. You can travel between the floors via stairs or escalator. An average visit will likely take anywhere between 1 to 3 hours.
Was a nice place to spent there for 1,5 hours. A lot of amazing animals were placed at the museum and some nice aquarium.
Interesting but not so good maintained:(
A living encyclopedia for all kinds of animals, creepers en crawlers. Fun trip for kids and adults, and very well preserved.
This is a good university museum/aquarium. They have a lot of taxedermied animals some of which are really unique.
Its a must go in Liege if you are looking for something educational to do with kids. The aquarium is a bit disappointing though because it is very small. If you have been to the equivalent museums in Brussels or Paris you shouldnt expect anything like that here for this place is a lot smaller.
We tried a couple of times to go there, but we always needed a reservation due to Corona. Finally, we have made it there and the aquarium was pretty. The museum part contains a lot of animals, but was very warm.
Many skeletons and taxidermized animals. Really worth the visit. Free entrance on the first Sunday of the month. The second floor exhibit is really hot, while the downstairs and first floor exhibit are quite cold, so dress accordingly.
Excellent museum. A lot to see. We spent a wonderful 2 hours exploring and enjoying all the stuffed animals and skeletons and of course the many fish in the aquariums. Highly recommended
This fish was slowly being eaten alive. I told the staff, Im wondering if they even cared.
Fell short of what was expected, most model descriotion in the jar displays and tqxideemied creatures are in French, so reading up is difficult, if you arent native. Secondly the aquaria sometimes had cards of fish that it didnt contain or fish it contained that had no cards for them.As a hobby fish keeper it also felt like some tanks were overstocked or badly stocked. Some fin dmg/aggression between species.Of course that is not verifiable due to not seeing the whole system and only seeing a part of it. Was curious how they maibtain fishtanks but that isnt shown.Overall a decent museum worth a visit, but should not be the reason to go to Liege.
An old hidden gem of Liege. Over 20 000 animals from tiny to huge will make you discover the diversity and beauty of life on our planet. Your kids will be talking about this museum for days.
The taxidermic collection needs refreshing and more information in modern ways. The aquarium is definitely a fun visit. The technological section is really interesting with lots of interactive features for kids of all ages.
Good museum, but bad aquarium. They had an eel that was horribly deformed because of how small their tank was. The aquariums where empty and sad, and the animals looked depressed. The equipment is outdated and the viewing glasses are weirdly shaped in a way that it gives you a headache to look through. And to add it all together, its incredibly small. Theres only three rooms with aquariums, if you want to visit a museum, go here. If you want to visit an aquarium, go to your local pet shop and look at the guppies there
Excellent for a rainy day. Ok museum and better aquariums.
The museum is part of the university of Liege, which makes that the collection of stuffed animals is massive. The museum did their best to showcase them in an interesting way, with a variety of skeletons as well. The aquarium is small but nice to walk through. As read in previous reviews, they showcase some sharks and big fishes as well... A bit sad to see the dimensions of the aquaria in comparison with their sizes... As was mentioned before...
A delightful aquarium, joined by a natural museum covering all species. Neat!
Great value for the price you pay. Keep 2h for this visit min.
If you are looking for a great place to spend your time, no matter if you are alone, with family or any group this is the right place for you.The aquarium is amazing and the animals exhibition is huge with plenty of animals.Small kids might be afraid from the taxidermy animals so try to explain them what they see. There is no explanation in English unfortunately but for me I had a great time there and would like to visit there again in the future.
The Aquarium downstairs was really nice. All the information provided, was interesting. The museum consists simply of the universitys collection of mounted animals. Its nice to look at but thats about it.
Very good. Visited with teenagers and this was the perfect place for them. Some creepy crawlers and beatiful species next to each other. Love the contrast and variety of nature. Some (older?parts of the museum did not have any English titles. Broad collection of species. Nice presentation of history of natural history museums in general and the on in Liege especially. I enjoyed.
I planned my entire trip to Liege around coming here!Small aquarium (I somehow missed the museum?), but with some really nice displays, both fresh water and marine. Some tanks looked a little grubby, but the animals look healthy - which was really nice. The shark tank and coral displays were highlights to me. Furthermore I enjoyed the softshell turtle and the shrimp displays. The Finding Nemo themed tanks were cute for the little ones.I was disappointed when I realised that Ive gone through the entire aquarium so quickly, but I still felt happy to have paid the €7 so that they can keep up the good work. It looks like there is a lot of love and passion going into that place behind the scenes. So pop in if you have some time to kill in Liege!
Perfect place to spens some quality time and also learn about a wonderful life of fishes. The aquariums are clean and wonderfull! One of my favourite places.
Verry verry nice, old but nice! Price for 2 ppl, 15€ !!
A good place to visit if you are a Discovery fan :. For me personally it was not the best experience, the interesting attraction are missing, the toilets are old and dirty, some parts af the museum are close but is no sign and because of that it is possible that somebody will ask you "nice" to go a way. I can recommended only for fans.
Good Aquarium, Entrance Free for tourists, easily accessible from liege, nice walk lots of fish and animal exhibits good day out.
Great museum, very fascinating.
A really nice museum with a large aquarium and thousands of animals. The feel of the museum is awesome... Its like being thrown back into time... In a good way!Absolutely recommended with children!Low entry fee.
Unexpectedly a really nice museum, a good alternative for a rainy day. There were some really odd fishes and the exposed bones were also really interesting. The signs were mostly french, which was the only downside to the museum, since the website clearly stated it had signs in 3 languages. But for the rest, had a surprisingly great time
Wide variety of fish! Aquariums could be a in a better condition.
Its a small historical exhibition with artefacts from 100 years ago. Some complain about the fish but most tanks are not overcrowded and there dont seem to be too many damaged fish. My son loved it and wants to go again.
