Great location... affordable accommodation...

When I first decided to come to Tauranga for the kiwifruit packing season, Apple tree was the first place that offered me a place to stay.What a great decision that turned out to be. The kitchen is great, the facilities are amazing for a hostel and the staff are top knotch. Nuisance makers are dealt with swiftly to minimize distractions for other guests. Plus I like that you get some privacy in the bathrooms.I highly recommend this place to anyone planning on staying in tauranga for a season of work.

Strong recommendation. Nice lounge, along with a well functioning kitchen. Apparently they have movie nights as well, but I didn’t stay long enough to see that.

Awesome place, close to beach and views, great rooms, has washing and drying on site also! Clean and tidy, great people who are very welcoming and make you feel right at home.Great place to stay when backpacking especially if you have only just started your endeavours.

AppleTree backpacker is a place more than a hotel to me. It is the first place I stayed after came to New Zealand and still Im saying in here. It has more clean and well arrange rooms. It is located in a beautiful environment. The staff is more friendly with their guests and they treat them as familiar. I love this place. It is a second home to me. ❤️

Very unpleasant experience. Asked for the price for one bed and was told $30. after getting my wallet from the car I was told its now $35 with the explanation "Me dont know money". The setup is nice enough and it has a lot of potential, but with such unpleasant and rude staff, creepy atmosphere and dirty kitchen Id avoid staying there at any cost!

Lovely little hostel with a friendly vibe. Clean and tidy with a good 10pm quiet rule. Free bikes to borrow and use although they don’t have breaks. The beds each have a power socket next to every bunk and a small light. Beds also solid wood so don’t squeak or wobble. The shower rooms were seperate but again tidy. The rooms don’t have locks and all very open so I guess keep valuables close but I didn’t feel like this was an issue.

Best Backpackers near to Tauranga City.1.4 km city center, easy to notice from main road. Nature friendly scenery in the front of Apple tree backpackers. Lots of foreign travelers staying there for a long time.The management is very nice to provide all the facilities in kitchen,bed room,hall etc. Refrigerator, Oven, Laundry services are available to the residents.

Really nice spot, small and cozy! I didnt have a booking, I showed up and the girl at the reception made her best to accommodate me in the 4-bed dorm instead of the 6-bed one. Cool common areas, good vibe. Highly recommended

Both of the managers Navi and Paji (sorry if the spelling is wrong lolare very nice and friendly. We stayed two nights in the ladies dorm there was no key but it is an atmosphere where everybody is nice to each other like a big family ! As backpackers we thought it was a nice place to stay when you are on a budget. Thank you !!!

I really liked the hostel! It is very comfortable and you have everything you need. A nice bed, a nice bathroom and a kitchen. You meet a lot of friendly people there!

I just stayed one night, but it was really great, people are very friendly (to drink beer, wine and discuss, its perfectbeautiful meeting !And I was in the green apple room, with a clean private shower and toilet.What more could you ask ? I highly recommend !!

The place has a beautiful view of the harbour and it has a homely feeling...the staff were really helpful and friendly...they tried their level best to help me to find a job...really loved my stay at the backpackers...

Very nice and helpful people. They build relationships right from your first day @ apple tree. The place is ok for the price and facilities are presumably ok for any standard backpackers housing needs. The management is good and lovely and friendly. You can be assured to feel at home here!!!!!!!!!!! :::)

Simply an awesome Hostel! the beds are comfy, everything is clean and the kitchen and showers are really good aswell! Add a nice garden inbetween and you are at the Appletree.Only thing to improve on might be the wifi, but you might be kind of used to that by now...Btw, staff is super chilled aswell!

If you are new to the Tauranga city and looking for place to stay then just go ahead and reserve. The most important thing of this backpacker is the management coz they help you on finding jobs and advising on places to visit near by etc . For sure once u get there you’ll have a great time with meeting people all over the world and gain some different experience that u never had , also you’ll be able to make so many remarkable memories . Hats off for apple tree and staffs

I was there 3 months and always was so good the Hostel. Always had a right number of people and the view of the front is so beautiful. The staff is good and the order of bin to put your food is perfect

Great and friendly backpacker ! Clean facility and super unlimited Wifi.Big matress !!!There is a track to do just in front of the backpacker, its really nice.Shopping center at 6 minutes walk.Nice small Backpackers

Ii i was planning to stay in tauranga for only 2 days... But after 2 months i am still here!!! Its been really difficult to leave this place and all the beautiful people ive bond with like a family. The location is perfect, quiet and peaceful but close to the city center and mount manganoui. The scenary and the waterfront is unique and mind-blowing. The place is really clean and the staff is really nice and helpfull all the time, even in finding you a job. If you are searching for a real backpacker experience stay at appletree and wont regret.

Incredibly dirty/ smelly kitchen with no space for food, rooms do not lock. Weird atmosphere in the hostel maybe lots of workers.

Quiet and friendly place with pretty good WiFi. The facilities are clean and sufficient. Common area is comfy. The beds are decent and have individual outlets. The place is a little bit out of the way, but there is a countdown nearby. However, a few more bowls would be nice.

Comfy beds, really friendly staff and other guests. Everything is a bit close together, so when people yabber on their phone or chatter in the kitchen, youre likely to hear it, but a good place to roll with the vibe and hang out.

With no doubts one of the best backpackers in Tauranga, they also are always thinking about improve their service and infrastructure.I would like to say thank to all from staff, my experience was really amazing thank you everyone all the best looking forward to come back soon!!! ;)

Clean spot to stay. Kitchen gets a little crowded at peak hours, but that happens most places. Good common spaces with plenty of couches and room.

A great place to stay in Tauranga. Easy accessable supermarkets and only a short trip in the city. Lovley managers and organisation. You are able to rent kajaks and bikes from the hostel for a fair price.In my opinon its a great Hostel particularly for a long term stay.

The owners are so lovely,and our tour with the hostel-owned kayaks was pretty fun !Everything is Clean and new :)Great Place to stay !

I like this place its great , the owners are really good people they make us paper to proof our residence and also give us free bike for the day !and ITS ASLO FREE BREAKFAST .And the views is really good tooIs prefect for backpaker !

Great cosy backpackers, fun common areas with couches and hammocks and well-equipped kitchen. Lovely hosts are Lance and his wife. Close to supermarket and beautiful outlook with harbour-side walk nearby. Rooms clean and beds comfortable - even got free breakfast during June/July. Would for sure stay again for sure.

Im currently here right now and I loved my stay so much I had to give it a great rating. Such an awesome setup with the hammocks and lounge areas outside. Love the simplicity. Everyone I met here was genuinely nice along with the manager. Highly recommend this hostel if youre traveling through Tauranga!

It is really a good hostel. We can see the clear view of sea and the night time lightening is Omg fabulous. The best part of hostel is clean, lots of space to stay in garden and a nice kitchen.

Nice facilities and location (supermarket and bus stop nearby). Still, service could be improved (no white sheets, kitchen and bathrooms not properly maintained, some unpleasant smells). We booked a room for 4 people max and ended up in one for 6 people.Its a pity though, because the facilities are really nice!

This hostel has a quite unusual style. It depends on what you want. It is very open and you feel like In a community with strangers.

Best hostel in Tauranga ! The manager and staff are welcoming and they know how to make you feel confortable. Its tidy and clean, the matresses/beds are surprisingly comfortable for a backpackers. FREE and UNLIMITED WIFI (yes for real!!). I Had a really good stay at Apple three, it worths every penny.

Had a amazing stay at Apple Tree Backpackers. It has been one of the best hostels Ive stayed in here in New Zealand :Very friendly and helpful manager and the animals are super sweet! It was worth every penny :)Thank you Apple Tree for making my stay one to remember!
