Antigua Guatemala Park - City park in Santa Cruz del Quiche, Guatemala
This is where our adventure with Guatemala began. We spent a few fun-filled days in this beautiful city. Its worth taking a walk to discover all the best spots in Antigua.
It was fascinating. To see a great way of life so different from my country.
Beautiful park with lots to see and right in the centre of the town. It is swarming with vendors though and at times you wont have a moment of peace. Also very crowded at times. But definitely worth a visit.
Beautiful place, this is a city named as a treasure of the Americas. Must visit.
Plenty of trinkets to buy and food options around the square. Take your time and leisurely enjoy the sights!
Lovely town with friendly people. The amazing volcano backdrop is breathtaking.
Really chill spot with a local market on Fridays very enjoyable!
The place is amazing. Its nearby everything. Theres a lot of cafés surrounding the ares. Theres always a police presence so you feel safer. Its also really near to the iconic arc where you can take photos of the arc and volcan de agua. At the main park you can grab a snacks, coffee someone actually have a backpack of coffee selling it around. And there are many souvenir shops. Its the best place to start to get to know Antigua.
To taste the heart of Antigua, you need to check out the park and the market. Grab a drink. Grab a seat on a bench. Drink in la Antigua.
Very nice town with a colonial magical touch. It is a shame that pedestrians suffer while walking and that drivers are in general extremely rude to pedestrians. Authorities need to think about pedestrians fully.
Amazing! Such a lively atmosphere, there is a street market every Friday and Sunday! All the sites around are highly recommended, however, I particularly recommend you check out the museum of art in antigua (MUNAG). Entrance is free, the range of art is awesome, and the entrance is to the right side of the park if you are facing the cathedral.
Love this place! There is always something exciting to do and people from all over the world visit.
Beautiful. Like going back in time
Beautiful setting with local vendors selling their home made products at affordable rates. It is the epicenter of Antigua
Really beautiful and quaint town square in the old capital. Lots of vendors and great places to sit and drink coffee.
Nice weather, love the trees, the people are friendly and loving.
great center place in Antigua to meet up after you got separated in your group or family. The antique book market has all the same. I think it is Called antique because nobody buys their old books and magazines. There are local street sellers wondering around the park that are worth supporting with your buy. Remember to bargain though. The coffee shops around the park are expensive. You want something more original go into the side roads.
Is the must beautiful city in my country, and is a historic colonial place, its gastronomy is delicious, I love 💕 it, and is surrounded by volcanoes Wich is astonished view, theres no words to describe it❤️❤️
Such a beautiful historic city to walk around.
Nice place with access to a lot of local shops. This the place to buy some souvenirs while enjoying the vibes!
Great place to take a break and relax.
Full of people just relaxing. Very shady spot to get out of the sun or rest from walking too much
Beautiful and romantic park. All the landmarks around it very well preserved.
Cool place to people watch but also very touristy. Lots of pigeons - watch where you step, sit, and watch your head! You WILL be approached by vendors - don’t buy food, they have no hand sanitization and can be observed urinating or changing diapers before continuing to sell their food. Some cool picture exhibits up right now in the park about some Mayan history.
I have been visiting for several years and this is a beautiful el centro. There are many vendors and always good people watching both day and night
Beautiful Antigua square. Sights, sounds, vendors, foods, birds, cobble stone and so much more. History and colors fill the streets. Traditional village people and the new age city folks all come together here.
Nice place to relax and have coffee. One of the best hand-crafted ice creams from street vendors - from what looks like a miniature "chicken bus." Great experience watching people get their hair braided by the indigenous women. Beautiful artisan items can also be purchased. And the cathedral is right in front. Surrounded by excellent coffee shops and restaurants.
Busy little town center. Beautiful fountain with flowering trees and lots a benches for relaxing and “people watching”.
This is the second time I have gone here and it definitely is somewhere that everyone needs to go when you are in Guatemala! The only thing you need to prepare yourself for is it is a very heavy tourist area and the prices can be expensive if you are not careful of where you buy certain items. I get followed everywhere when I have went because I look like a tourist even with my husband and family. I just let him handle it all because he can negotiate prices and knows better if something is a good price.
Most crowded place. Two points because its the only place to get coffee 0600 and actually sitting alone in morning hours is OK🙂
My third visit there and I always feel incredibly captivated by the energy and excitement of Antigua when visiting. I love the diversity of the crowd and the "people watching" is amazing. I could honestly spend a day sitting on a bench in central park and be entertained.
Beautiful, scenic park in Antigua. Definitely recommend!
Welcoming and festive Spanish Colonial town center with numerous vendors, restaurants and beautiful architecture.
Wonderful park, great place to have a meal, people watch, or just soak up the culture. Pros: center of everything! Banks, food, churches - action is right there! Downside is all the buskers, constantly asking you to buy stuff and pushing their little ones to sell things.
Excellent atmosphere; the experience was quite relaxing. I noticed some reviews stating this place can be somewhat pretentious; I never felt that way. If thats the case, I find that to be the reason why I would go there. Ill definitely be going back!
More of that great Guatemalan Culture! Do take the time to sit back and just breath it all in. You miss it when youre gone!
Lots of things to see. Lots of things to buy. There is music and food. Lots of lights. A great place to be and people watch while taking in the history.
Theres a really beautiful water fall Sitting in the middle of town center. Plus markets and a variety of shops .
The social and cultural center point of Antigua city. A wonderful place to relax and people watch, where tourists and locals mingle.Built around a wonderful fountain and fringed by city hall and the cathedral, the park is buzzing day and night. There are a number of coffee shops around the edge of the park if you want to grab a cup.
Wow Antigua Guatemala is just breathless, Antigua is the old city and is called Antigua Guatemala Ciudad de Santiago de los caballeros, the people the food the culture are just amazing. I have fallen in Love with Antigua Guatemala. A place I could come back again and again.
What a beautiful place to take walks and admire the historic atmosphere and culture!!
This place is absolutely amazing. The energy, beauty, its history, colors, scents and tranquility alongside all the historical buildings and shops, completely amazing and full of awe. I highly recommend you find a nice shady bench, enjoy an ice cream from the little cart vendors and sit back and watch the coming and goings of the everyday passers by. If you get the chance to engage one of the craft vendors that are walking by offering their arts and crafts, buy something and engage in a conversation with them. This place is truly magical.
Beautiful at night during Christmas time with the decorations. Cool evenings in December so wear a light to medium jacket, not a heavy one.
Beautiful park! Very peaceful place to sit on a park bench and people watch. Plenty of local ladies to buy scarves, jewelry, etc. Lots and lots of pigeons! The park is surrounded by antique buildings and shops. Its definitely the heart of the city!
Such a fun place to experience. Yes, you will have to fend off a million people trying to sell you things, but its not a big issue. You can buy small bags of bird seed to feed the pigeons (watch out, one pooped on my daughters head). And its just a nice place to enjoy people watching.
I really loved all of Antigua and it’s parks. Tons of restaurants and goods can be found in this area. Indigenous people can often be found selling some goods for nice prices. Of all the beaded necklaces I have bought in Latin countries, I found the cheapest ones in Guatemala.
Lovely place to stroll, hang out, have a coffee or watch people. Atmospheric in sunshine or thunderstorms, day or night. Lovely architecture, maintained and restored in as authentic a way as possible. Youll still see people fixing the cobblestone roads with a big wooden mallet and their bare hands. The hawkers are not oppressive, are goodly natured and will leave you alone after a simple no thank you. Feels safe, clean and family oriented day or night, even with the occasional homeless person walking through with one shoe. The sad spectacle of tiny children shining shoes with their bare hands has thankfully disappeared, although you wonder what has become of them. The increasing number of tourists from Europe and north America has slowly changed this beautiful town into something of a tourist trap, but somehow its maintained its beauty and grit and hasnt become a Venice cruise ship nightmare yet. Its certainly improved the restaurants for the western palate, yet authentic food isnt far away. Catch it on a festival, and you may see carpets of flowers in the roads. Fireworks can be heard on any day (or night). Constantly. Dont bring pets. Thats probably a general rule though for any travel ...
Nice meeting place but this review cant stop here without giving my impressions of Antigua as a whole. Stunning place with its cobbled streets, old colonial buildings and surrounded by fabulous volcanoes. The air is so "breathable" here.
Very pretty night time visit, lots of great quirky bars and restaurants. Live music too! Beautiful area. Can be a bit pricey
Lots of people trying to sell you something. I love it. The place is very wooded. People hanging out. In short, excellent to seat and spend some minutes only absorbing everything around you.
