Annie's Place - in Mayagueez, Puerto Rico
Annie's Place in Mayagueez
Description
Once you get your meal its good but service is very slow. A little pricy, cater to lots of tourist. Its right next to the beach and that area of the beach is littered with garbage. But grea atmosphere the sunsets are amazing.
MoreWe went twice , the first time was a Friday afternoon , it was a great experience , food was delicious , staff was very attentive and helpful . The second time was a Sunday evening at sunset and as you can expect it gets very crowded and the service was not as great as the first time . With that said we would still come back to this beautiful restaurant that sits right on the water with stunning views of the sunset and amazing food .
MoreI have eayen here for many years and felt satisfied. Recently, however, quality and portions are down. I hope this will change.
MoreGreat service and food! Nice view as well, perfect for sunset dinners
Good views, food was good but pricey. We had the dorado fish bites with pana tostones, fries and mixed seafood salad.
MoreClean, nice view, easy access to the beach. Was not busy and waited almost an hour for our food. There were two of us. When the food came out it was not hot or fresh. Was not worth the wait. Good place for a beer and appetizers.
MoreFirst time that I visited and the last time that I’ll visit this place !!! The food was awful , the service was horrible ( long wait timeand the mayo-ketchup was watered down and just plain nasty ! This is embarrassing because I’m Puertorican and mayo-ketchup is literally a staple of Puertorican food! I brought someone from the states to try food from PR and I feel like this restaurant HIGHLY misrepresents REAL Puertorican food. The only thing going for this restaurant is the views. Go to Piñones for traditional Puertorican food instead!
MoreService was really slow. The place was pretty busy but still, waiting +15mins for water refills was a bit long.Drinks were good once they arrived (one drink was wrong and once I showed it to the waitress she recognized the mistake w/o me having to explain why the drink was wrong). Drinks were small.Food was good, but it took a long time to get (we were a party of 9). Two people at our table said vegetables were undercooked. The Carrucho salad was generous and flavorful. For some odd reason we got 2 tiny slices of lime which were so small we could not squeeze them without folding them. The pasta plate was big.The panapen-tostones were very good.
MoreThe place has a really nice view, but you have to pay separate for the sides and we waited like two hours or more for them to bring the food.Instead of bringing all the food to the table they started bringing two plates and then serve other tables, and continue serving other tables, instead of serve the whole table at the same time. in think they should serve the whole table so people can eat at the same time.In another words, service was horrible, also the Mofongo was too dry.Good for appetizers and have some drinks though, just when you go there get ready to wait for hours for the food be served.
MoreThe restaurant is on an excellent location. Its on right on the beach. The view is expectacular. The waiters are very kind and nice. The place is well decorated and clean. The only negative is the waiting time it takes to get your food. It took us more than an hour, and when the food finally arrived, it was cold. Some items we ordered are better consumed warm or hot. Other than that, I recommend it. If they correct the waiting time, it would be an excellent place.
MoreThe WORST service I have ever experienced. Me and my family of 9 people came to this place during our vacation visiting family in PR but some of our group are tourists so we were expecting to have a good time for them and experience good treatment but that was not the case. I picked this place because I only saw the amount of reviews but didnt read them (my mistake, I wish I would have before coming here). We went around 8pm & the service felt rushed at the beginning. Our drinks came out first , we ordered our food and then waited a whole HOUR for them start getting some plates out, by this time our drinks were done or watery and they never came during the entire hour to ask how we were doing or anything. By the time our food started to come out it was when they were all busy cleaning, moping for closing because they actually close at 9PM NOT 2am. We got some plates fist & others 15 minutes later. By the time most of us were done eating thats when the last 2 plates came out. We expressed our concerns and bad experience while the waitress was cleaning up our table at the end and she made NO comment and walked away. Our check included a whole 15% tip that they did not work for or deserve. At the end we brought it up to a different person who seemed to be a manager and she did not say anything either and just gave us instructions to find the exit. As a puertorican and having people in our group on vacation that are not from here just to pick this place for what was supposed to be a nice night out dinner and end up experiencing this was so embarrassing. They need to do better, I would never come back or recommend this place to anyone.
MoreI first visited this place about three years ago and it was great, the food was great and the prices were reasonable. I have no idea what happened but this current visit in July 2022, left me disappointed, though, I have to say before I continue, the service was good and the staff was friendly. The problem was with the food, the menu changed, the taste changed and the prices definitely changed. I had the churrasco with chimichurri sauce and Rice and beans. Rice and beans was good but when it touched the chimichurri sauce it acquired the weird flavor the sauce had, which ruined it for me. The churrasco was cooked properly and texture was good but the taste was off. To make it short and simple, no one at our table enjoyed the food in any way. The crazy thing is that we visited quite a few restaurants in our eleven day visit and this one was double the price of the priciest one we visited and bottom of the list as far as food taste. Main complaint on our table was too greasy-too salty. Its a great location with a beautiful view and so I hope they revise and revamp the changes theyve made because I would like to give it one more chance when I head back to the island.
MoreFood and service are awesome.
Very good service and food. The view is amazing
Its a beautiful place, a stunning view by the water. I had been there before with the family so I was excited to return with our friends.A little disappointed due to the fact that the menu changed and food was not to expectations. It was oily and easy too salty .The service and management were very friendly and hospitable.Im not sure if Ill go back.
MoreDrinks are cold but the people that work here are awful, bad attitude from the minute you walk in, like they hate their jobs!! Food was not good but the view was great. Definitely the place to come for a nice view and to feel like unwelcome from the minute you walk in.
MoreMaybe the most gorgeous beachfront restaurant in entire island. We got a recommendation for this place from a friend and both the food and the views were outstanding . Try the stuffed plantain with salsa crillio.
MoreFood is very good and the view is amazing. Parking is terrible especially in the weekend and there is the smell of the jet ski gasoline and unfortunately it is crowded and noisy
MoreCame in around 4pm today. Was sat pretty quickly which was good. I asked the waitress did they know how to make a lemon drop she said no. I then asked do they have an speciality drinks she told me no, then I asked if they had a drink menus she said no. So I go online and found a drink menu and ordered it. After we got our drinks we had to wait a while longer after tracking her down….we wanted to order. She finally came to the table and we loved the order. We only ordered queso frito and pasta penne with steak. After we came sat there until about 6:15 I found the waitress and asked her to cash us out and cancel the order. She seemed like she was upset but she wasn’t the best waitress and we had been there for over an hour waiting for our food. We still got the food in a to go box and paid but sitting in the car the meat is bad. It taste like it’s rotten. Never ever will we go here again, which is to bad because it’s a beautiful place.
MoreWaited 2 hours for food and the server never put in our kids food. She proceeded to pretend we never ordered it. We were short 3 dishes. She repeated the order back to us with those dishes but says we never ordered it and lied to the manager and nor was the manager pleasant. She went as far as pretending someone else toke the order. Don’t waste your time here. Terrible customer service..
MoreThe absolute worst service my family and I have ever experienced! The place is very nice with great atmosphere! Waitress literally took our order and never returned until she brought the food out. I put in an appetizer, and it arrive with the Entry an hour later. I had to walk to the bar to order another round of our drinks.
MoreThe view was beautiful but I wanted to body slam the waitress we had. She was HELLA RUDE and so was the “manager”. Do not go unless your sugar is low or high in case of an emergency. Literally.
MoreThe worst experience ever. We waited 2 hours for a few wings and fries, mofongo with pulpo which was cold and hard and an order of cocktail shrimp, the server was the worse and very sarcastic. People that came in and ordered after us got there food before we did, a very bad experience, for sure We won’t go back, even though we are staying in the area for a week. NOT RECOMMENDED
MoreGood location/views but thats where the positive ends. Service speed is abysmal. But i think whole island operates in slow motion mode. Everything they do becomes a chore. After one hour of waiting, food finally arrived, but not what we ordered. Being hungry and out of time, we took what was brought to the table. Waiter was apologetic but if you charge this much, you need to at least deliver what was ordered. Food is a hit and miss, rice was good, shrimps were very salty, mahi mahi was alright. Furthermore, food was delivered cold/room temperature - unacceptable. long story short, we got charged for the food we never ordered but had to eat because of time constraints. This establishment is thriving on one and done patrons aka tourists.
MoreAn absolute GEM! The reviews they have speak for itself but how couldn’t I pass on the love? Everything we had was absolutely delicious and we’ve traveled Puerto Rico in 7 days having stayed in Old San Juan, Luqillo, Aibonito and then here in Cabo Rojo, so we touched the east, west, south and central PR and this was one of the unforgettable food stops. The churrasco was so tender and juicy, the chicharron de pollo was crispy and tender inside, the queso frito was perfect, the surrollo (basically like corn sticksalso made the way it should be. The Alcapurria was authentic tasting, the seating, service, atmosphere and modern decor were all an absolute delight from start to end.
MoreGreat place to unwind after a day at the beach, eat good food, and enjoy the scenery. It was a cloudy day but the sunset still made an appearance, albeit small. The drinks were great, grouper bites phenomenal, along with the mamposteado rice. The service was great. Unlike others, I didnt wait an exceptionally long time for my food. Id recommend!
MoreGreat place, food and service!
Went and asked for the paella and they said they didnt have lobster nor caruchosand they will double up on the other seafood to make it up. When we got served to our surprise it wasnt doubled up and it didnt have shrimp also. Price was not adjusted. Very disappointing this time around.
MoreIt’s right on the Combate beach, Cabo Rojo. Breathtaking sunset views and great food. Loved fried cheese with guava sauce.
MorePerfect! Staff was amazing and the food was fresh and affordable. Portions were huge and delicious. The view was beautiful!!!
MoreWe enjoyed our view of Combate Beach while we waited for our food. The beach was crowded and we went on a Saturday. The restaurant was recommended by the owner of our AirBNB. Parking near the restaurant was difficult so we paid to park at a lot near the boat ramp.We had some difficulty communicating with our waitress. We were given an English menu and she had to grab a Spanish menu to get our order entered. She was able to show me our order on the tablet. She missed an earlier appetizer request and I didnt realize until it was too late so we didnt get it. Long wait for food but we expected it while we were on Island Time. The garlic chicken and mashed potstoes were good. The view was amazing. We will probably try something different the next time we visit the area.
MoreThey had the best fried grouper I had the whole time I was here. The view is to die for, and the beach is awesome.
MoreWe were advised you cant visit Puerto Rico without visiting Annies. Granted it has an excellent location and Scenic setting. The menu is unique and varied, many excellent dishes. A little on the expensive side but not overly. So why did I give it only two stars? The employees were rude, we had five members in our group and they would not allow us to come in until I had a table that would accommodate 5 even though they had numerous smaller tables that could seat four and we could slide a seat over. I can understand their policy but not the way we were treated. We asked if we could sit at bar and order drinks while we waited and they flatly told us no. I can only assume that they get all the business they can handle and have no necessity to treat people nice. However I could deal with that if the food was served to us Worthy of the steep price. The calamari was the only highlight. The vegetables were stone cold, Grouper and Salmon cool. My friends asked for their dishes to be warmed up, only to get them still cool. We complained to Management and got very cool response and no respect. I spent over $200 plus $40 tip. We will never dine there again. Too many truly great dining establishments to be treated such as this.
MoreThe food is great! The piñacolada 🤤🤤 just the best!! We got ceviche wish was very good and fast, but the main course took literally 1 hora from the time that we order to the time we got it, that is the weak point, we weren’t in rush … but still to much time. But the way …The view is awesome.
MoreThe restaurant is on the Beach. So it may be best if you enjoy the sunset as you wait for your meal. The food was good. My only distraction was the service. It was our first night in Puerto Rico, and we didnt understand the island time we would experience through out our stay. The only set back at this restaurant was that the wait staff wasnt designated specific tables. So we found it hard to know which waitress to speak with when we had questions about our meal. The portions were healthy & the food was fresh. The sunset was breathtaking. 🇵🇷
MoreGo for the views, not the food. The place looks cute and their location right on the beach is unbeatable. The views are for sure 5 stars. But the food is not good. At all. And the drinks are decent and strong.
MoreIt is always good here. Fresh hot plates with lots of PR taste. Little price but good... hard to find parking, but theres always one. This rest is next to the beach/ocean. Amazing view and sunset is a most to see. Great seafood place. Excellent staff make your lunch/diner the best. Great drinks as well...
MorePlace was very nice and accommodating for all 12 of us. My Mofongo was good but only fish caldo to dip that was the only thing I did not like. Everyones good was good and the service was also good because it was a Sunday and they were busy. Three place was clean and everyone was so friendly. I will definitely return when I go back on vacation.
MoreHave your vax card with you- and you can have a truly nice evening by the shore of the Caribbean with excellent food, great service (not too much, not too little, just perfect), and the BEST pina colada... They speak English for Spanish-impaired. The quantities are more than generous. I had Arroz Annies; rice with everything they can put into it. My partner had the 10 oz Churrasco, which she said was scrumptious. The fried sweet plantains are a treat. And at the end of the night, its all very reasonably priced.
MoreThis is the nicest looking place in the area for food. Service was good..we only ordered drinks on a very hot day while we were passing through... The breeze in this place was exactly what we needed. The food appeared to look decent as our neighbors ordered. Everything was super clean and they were definitely asking for Vaccine cards and photo ID. We would be back when in the area for sure... Oh wait we ordered 🍰 dessert.
MoreThis restaurant serves delicious food and the views of the ocean are breathtaking! The shrimp and pulp mofongo were both delicious! The piña colada also great. Everyone was very satisfied with their meal and the ambience and service was very pleasant.
MoreWe had hard time communicating in English in the whole island. But the server was great and patient and explain the Menu. Once that is shorted out everything was great. View are spectacular. Drinks were great and so does food. We had Fish Stew in garlic sauce and rum drinks which was delicious.
MoreLong wait, over an hour, they never called me when ready, good food, takeaway. Partner ordered chicken fajitas and I got the pechuga de pollo with arroz con gandules. Lunch time got busy indoors after we ordered.
MoreNothing better than eating Seafood Paella by the Caribbean Sea.Mojitos were fresh and service was exceptional.Cant beat this location, eating right next to the sea.
MoreDelicious food at amazing prices! Their dinning room faces the beach & has a beautiful view of the water. Calm water & excellent menu. Will definitely be back on our next trip!
MoreMust go at sunset! The food and drinks are good but that sunset view is to die for! Would recommend for a family or friends night out. The beach is literally down the steps.
MoreGreat food, better location. A must visit place at the beach in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. Great flavors, excellent drinks ... $$$
MoreLoved this place.Im from Kansas City and visiting my family that lives in Ponce, PR. I told them I want beautiful views of the ocean... they brought me here.Building is nice, staff is friendly and helpful, food and drinks were good and the views are gorgeous.Sit towards the back of the building if you can 😉
MoreThis is my go to place for lunch and dinner. Food is amazing. You have and open dining area with view of the combate beach and the ocean. Service is great stand is very friendly. Live it.
MoreVery casual, yet the seafood is great. Prices are ok. We have the mix stuffed mofongo and the mero filet with tomato sauce and yuca root mofongo. The not so good: The yuca root mofongo had a cheap margarine taste. Also, the seafood portion in my mofongo was on the small side. Definitely you can get a better value, but the restaurant location still makes for it. The waitress was very helpful and kind.
