Amazing place. Very beautifully made new church. The church is at the 1st floor of the building and hence a lift is needed for physically challenged people and old people to visit the church.

If one cant make it to annai velankanni church nagapatanam .they can visit Besant nagar church.from 29 August to 8 September. .i just came bk from nagapatanam sadly the roads are in very bad shape from chidambaram to Karaikal. I visited the shrine its the most pleasant place to visit . The church is so beautyfully decorated with lights .if u visit dureing off season the hotel price are normal but dureing this time our lady feast the hotel price is hiked double. Pls book in advance as u might not get a room to stay at nagapatanam. Stay safe stay blessed. Its beautyfull quiet holy u can find all PPL comeing there

One of the famous church in Chennai in the name of Velankanni matha. Those believers and non believers visit here at the same time. Those believers who cant visit Velankanni offer their prayers here. A newly built church became so famous for its architectural design and works.

This Annai Velankanni Shrine is also known as The Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health. Actually this is a Latin Catholic church . Situated at the area of Velankanni , Chennai . Made as per British Neo Gothic Style and dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health which was actually Virgin Mary and it is believed that she appeared twice at this Velankanni area during 16 and 17th century .This basilica is just few meters away from Elliot beach . There are no entry fee and any one can enter into this basilica . The whole white structure is so gorgeous and can be seen from far .Stay open from 5:30am to 8:30PM . There are also a museum too which stays open on weekend day from Afternoon 4pm to 7Pm .

Wonderful Church in Chennai. Must visit during festival times. It is very new and well maintained church. Great place to find pease. Good ambience and building architecture is fantastic.

Good location! parking facilities! In main church your could pray peacefully! When marriage masses happening they may not allow you in to the church! toilets are in worst condition

At noon, 12.25, all the devotees praying inside the new church, were literally chased out by the security and volunteers, saying they have to close the church till 4.30 pm as per the Parish Priest’s order. There are no notice boards mentioning the timings. Am trying to understand why people who come seeking solace to their pains are being treated this way..?

Marys chruch looks astonishing near the beautiful seashore. The new chruch looks absolutely magnificent. The old chruch still in heart with classical and antique. The place is spacious, has car parking, can do rituals near the chruch.

New construction looks very fabulous, the construction took few years but after seeing work done, you can realize why it took so much of time. Fantastic design and very spacious, ventilated. Really you can sense presence of God.

More of a divine, it has become as popularity. No proper restroom facility and the cost of products which they are selling is high when comparing to nearby shops.

The new church, located adjacent to the original one at Besant Nagar, is a beautiful church with exquisite Gothic architecture . One needs to climb quite a few steps to enter the church. Parking is available. We did not find much crowd at the time of our visit

Besant Nager Velankanis Newly build church is awesome and its not yet opened ....looking forward to open it asap .

Very poor in parking please be aware of indifferent rates they charge. Apart from that there is not much to explore, they have built new church and opened for public on 9th Dec 2021. Interior wise it looks good but you have climb 20 ft high of stairs, not feasible for old people to climb and there is no ramp as of today for wheel chairs.

A beautiful place to sink in spritually and pray your hearts out. Every individual church looks heartwarming. So many beautiful memories to cherish around. I never seen vatican, but I will say Velankanni as TamilNadus own vatican. Praise the lord 🙏

Good place of worship. The church here is very big and it is built by the Portuguese who were sailing near the beach. This place also has lots of hotels and inns for staying nearby the church campus. The churches shine at night by lights which look very heavenly. The church is called Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health. September 8th has a very big feast for the Church. Tonsuring is done here by qualified professionals.

You need to leave your vehicle along the sea shore street prior to visiting this congregation.The best thing about the spot is that individuals of all religion come here, unburden their distresses and pain and disappear quietly.The din doesnt prevent individuals from staying with Mother Mary.The always brilliant face of Mother causes you to unwind and relinquish your concerns.

I dont know much about Christian religion but this church is little different from others . It is a beautiful church where people worship Jesus with mother Mary. This church is located near besant nagar beach.

I heard that this is the most sacred place after velankkani. And most powerful too. Church is littles bit spacious and crowded always especially when It comes to Sundays.New church under construction and that is the big church where it will good for every visitor as well as church is concern. Beach is near by here only a few minutes walk will guide you towards beach.

Such a beautiful Shrine...so many miracles and so much of blessings happen in this shrine. A beautiful shrine and so well built overlooking the vast sea. The miraculous statue of Mother Mary is the best in the shrine. A lot of development has spoilt this place and commercial activities have spoilt this place to some extent. Hotels and rooms have cropped up everywhere and every one has become more greedy and find a way to fleece the piligrims. Many were killed in the Tsunami that struck Vailankani a couple of years back and now it has come back to life, however there was a cyclone a month back and there was quite a lot of damage to the church, statue of Jesus and other installations. May God Bless and protect Vailankani and the piligrims who go there with faith and hope.
