Historic home & studio of artist Ann Norton displaying her works both indoors & in the gardens.
A beautiful, calming space to appreciate art and plants. I especially loved how intentional the landscaping is—the plants complement the artwork perfectly and contribute to the peaceful, restorative atmosphere. The cost for entry is pretty expensive, but I understand that they need funds to maintain the place. Definitely worth the trip if you like tropical plants and/or sculpture, or if you just want to experience a nice environment for a while.
Absolutely lovely gardens. The artwork inside the main house were amazing and the sculptures in the garden enhanced the gardens. We even peeked in the studio- it was worth it to catch a glimpse of a creative space. Dont skip it.
Lovely place to walk through gardens and look at sculptures and lush greenery. The inside museum is small but enjoyable. I loved getting an I side look at her artist studio.
Very cool outdoor space with bonus beautiful plant life (lots of orchids growing on palms)
Ann Nortons wish to create a unique oasis of art and nature in a peaceful setting has been honored. It is a must see for anyone desiring to take a pause in todays busy life. Time the emails off and only use your phone for pictures.
Beautiful hidden gem
Got there at 4:05 & were turned away :/Its really unfortunate because I had looked on their website around 3pm to look for their hours but couldnt find them so we decided to buy some lunch before going here.We drove two hours to see the sculptures & only got to see bits from the propertys gates.Looks like a very nice place. Maybe next time we are up in WPB, who knows
This is an exceptional and historical sculpture garden with incredible sculpture throughout, with the artists studio open to the public. Incredible amount of orchids
Perfect place to stroll through the forest-like gardens, commune with nature and enjoy one of a kind, unique sculptures.
Beautiful place and very friendly staff. Art in an amazing garden
Very nice place to visit. Front desk staff was friendly. A little annoying they require masks, but they supplied them since we didnt have them..
Im all about the preservation of the arts. ...and I love this place. Amazing sculptures, beautiful gardens, artist talks, artistic events, breathtaking views... tucked away in a historic home and property along the Intracoastal. Great place for a cultural field trip. I plan to become a Member.
Beautiful outdoor surroundings featuring beautiful sculptures.
Priceless experience!! I will definitely go back with friends and family. This is a zen experience which everyone will enjoy. I will share a few pictures of their lovely garden.
What an amazing peaceful place. The price of admission might be a little high considering you can tour the grounds fairly quickly. But I loved it.
Beautiful Small Garden with amazing Sculptures and the Art Studio is also very nice. Had a lot of fun today. 😄
I enjoyed the outside and plants, The serenity of nature. The sculptures where alright. I love to teach my children the love for art and nature. Until we walk in a room full of sculptures there was a container with clay my daughter made a little figure and when a guide toure saw her she broke the little figure apart with so much hatred. So much animosity. This place is not children friendly pretty much White friendly....
My boyfriend and I are on a quest to visit hidden gems in Florida and this was our 1st stop.Great visit, they had jazz in the Garden, its a beautiful and tranquil place to vist..A must vist, you want be disappointed!!!!
Excellent gardens and sculptures. Transports you to another time and place. Love the music 🎶 for BHM and the staff is cordial and helpful 👌👍will definitely keep coming.
This is definitely worth the trip from Miami. Stunning sculptures and gardens- very unusual. The first time I went (yes, worth going moreThan one timethe artists studio was open and it was fantastic to see where this artist was inspired to work. This time was closed for renovation.Nonetheless, excellent “field trip” and lovely staff.IG gailgensler
Amazing afternoon of relaxing with beautiful weather and gorgeous views. This place is bigger than anticipated and the sculptures are breathtaking. Glad I had the opportunity to finally visit.
The gardens are wonderful - dense, varied, with plants from all over the world in harmonious riot. The sculptures are ok - I liked the ones feel in the garden, where they look like remnants of ruined buildings - but not the one in the garden, which seems out of scale.
Lovely house museum, studio and gardens in West Palm Beach. Has small parking lot. House and studio not totally wheelchair accessible, but stairs are navigable for walker, crutch or cane users. Pathways smooth and adequately wide for wheelchairs and scooters.
Amazing gem in a quiet area which can be easily missed. I was invited to lunch there and was delighted with all the beautiful sculptures, art pieces and the jazz band. Food was simple, but it is not a restaurant after all
Beautiful and tranquil garden with sculptures.
Fabulous place for a lovely afternoon walk through amazing gardens and her sculptures. Fascinating place....
A surprising place in Palm Beach. Ive lived in Palm Beach County for 13 years and never knew this place existed till I was here on a photoshoot. The staff are very friendly and helpful they have all the information about the place (like they should have). There are plenty of little trails through the gardens, you could easily spend hours here walking around and looking at things. There is a gallery of art in the main house, and the smaller artist studio shows you some insight into how things were made. The gates that Ann Norton created are interesting and not something that you see every day. Definitely a must see.
Very rich in Beauty & Culture.Very knowledgeable & personable staff & volunteers!
Loved visiting! Found this place on Instagram and it was beautiful. Docents were very knowledgeable and helpful.
Beautiful setting.! Always a pleasure to be there just a awesome time every time.
Go for the gardens, not the house. We got the whole tour but I was much more interested in the plantings, some great collection of cycads and palms. Sculptures themselves are elementary and abstract. Someone without the wealth would never have been considered talented.
Beautiful place. I enjoyed the artwork, especially the sculptures outside but I really loved the studio. That’s the best part. Well that and sipping iced tea at the outdoor seating. This is a very relaxing space. The grounds are lovely.
Lovely, serene garden with amazing sculptures. Very small but worth the visit.
Just a beautiful oasis in the middle of the bustling city. Enjoy the gardens and sculptures as you walk through this beautiful estate. Have a rest on one of the many benches and leave completely centered.
This place is full of Art in the heart of a charming West Palm Beach.
Was a wonderful visit, the host was most accommodating. The sculpture garden was well worth the walk from the art museum, featuring unique works of art in perfect garden landscape. The work studio gives you a sense of the person and also wonderful galleries in the facilities.
Been passing by this place, multiple times in multiple years. Finally fulfilled my desire to visit when friends came to town. Sculptures are cleverly placed within a heavily forested lot. Feels to me like I am in a movie scene. A real treat and a must visit. Check it out.
Loved the art displays outside in the gardens. Good for kids to come and see the sculptures as well as sime of the rotating pieces that were on display. The interior had interesting glass pieces with a video of how some of those exact pieces were made by artist. The little shed in the gardens that was the old workspace is pretty amazing to see. Definitely worth a visit if you are around here.
A peaceful spot for contemplation. Volunteers are exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Dont miss stepping into Anns studio. Its Zen. Check online for scheduled featured artists and collections.
Wonderful source of inspiration for local gardeners. Wide variety of palms, shade trees, orchids, etc. I wish more plants were tagged, but love learning about the ones that are. Sculptures are beautifully sited in the garden, and the location is wonderful. Surprisingly good cafe despite a limited menu. Definitely worth a visit!
Ann Weaver Norton was a woman ahead of her time. She left Alabama during a time in history when women had little opportunities. She defied her families expectations of becoming a missionary to instead pursue her passion for art in New York and attend Smith College and Cooper Union. She was thwarted twice, once by the Great Depression reducing the demand for art and a second time by WWII which restricted the ability to get metal for her sculptures. She moved to West Palm Beach in 1942 to teach at the Norton School of Art where she became friends with Ralph Norton and his wife Elizabeth Calhoun. After Elizabeth died in 1947 Ralph and Ann married in 1948. Ralph supported Anns art and built her an art studio. They also enjoyed traveling together before Ralph passed away in 1953. Ann passed away in 1982 and is buried in her home state of Alabama.Today you can visit Ann and Ralphs historic former home that hosts traveling art exhibits. During our visit there was an exhibit of Murano glass. There are 9 huge works of art in the garden that Ann made the bricks for. Himalaya is the large mountain like sculpture directly behind the house and Gateway to Knowledge is also at Harvard University. Among the sculptures there is more than 250 palms and cycads in the beautifully manicured gardens. You can see even more works of art in Anns artist studio where her sculpture tools are also on display. It costs $15 to visit and it takes about an hour. Parking is free on the street if you can find it. I had to put my parallel parking skills to use and I was pretty proud of myself. I may get the hang of it yet. The garden is only open when its "season" so check the website before you visit. I love art and the beautiful weather made this the perfect thing to do on a gorgeous day.
Wonderful garden with owering sculpture truly worthy of a visit. They also have touring sculpture exhibits, as well as gallery exhibits in the historic home of a world class artist Ann Norton, who died in 1982.
Better than expected! Beautiful garden and sculptures along with an indoor art gallery with rotating artists. The place is actually Ann Nortons house in which she created her famous pieces, and the employees and staff are all extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We loved our time here!
Beautiful interesting place. Learn about the history of Palm Beach. The gardens are cool, the studio is worth seeing, but I especially loved the fixtures in the bathroom!! Hehe! Art is everywhere here, even in the restrooms! Also, very pretty botanicals! Parking is very limited, though I had no trouble, I imagine it may be easier to Uber during peak times.
So peaceful, I was surprised that I have never heard of it before, very small but interesting and different . I visited when a unique exhibition by an Israeli artist was on display , Boaz Vaadia, I believe its still on until April 29, 2018. The permanent outdoor exhibition is magnificent, please go and check it out
Beautiful sculpture garden, albeit a little small, but captivating for hours if you take the time to appreciate the diverse foliage and flora not domestic to Florida. Her artwork is well blended and surprisingly woven into the grounds with something new to see at every turn.
The Ann Norton houses houses artwork from different artisits in addition to Ann Nortons work and the studio she worked from. Going through this place will make you reconsider life in the eyes of art and how it brings people together. Loved every single piece. The garden is another beauty that you wish to stay there forever. They also serve lunch for visitors.
Skip the pre-tour historical lesson in the beginning if you can and just walk the grounds. The statues are really cool. Apparently, theres a cafe thats opened up there as well, which, when its nice out would be awesome to visit.
Nice, but not a destination. Parking on the street is a bit odd too. The gardens are very nice and a person who loves palms should make this place a highlight of their day. The sculptures are nice, if a little sparce. It is more like gardens with some sculptures instead of sculpture gardens. Her studio was wonderful and really showed her methods nicely, but it is a small part of the entire property.I would suggest adding it in to your day as a stop to stretch your legs on a long drive. Beautiful walking along the water next to the gardens.
This is a pretty interesting place. Small though. Not very expensive. Nice for a walk.
