Colonnaded tomb for the former president, Kemal Ataturk, with a marble hall, turrets & museum.
Museum art of warThis museum was built on an area of 75 hectaresIt is very wide and very tightly guarded by the Turkish armyThe most interesting thing is that during the change of military guard duty, there will be a changing of the guard ceremony at 14:20In the corners there are cars, ships, and tanks that were used during the old warThe place is very clean and there are free public toilets
I highly recommend to rent a audio guide which only 15TL. I was enjoy while have a visit with the museum with audio guide. You wont regret it.
A large funerary complex honouring the founder of modern TurkeyAtaturk is revered throughout Turkey and his mausoleum is here. It is well worth seeing if in Ankara. It is quite a busy site, as there are many Turkish tourists here, but the queues for security move quite quickly and the site itself is large. The tomb is a simple marble affair in a large temple-like building. There are museums nearby to give an idea of his life and times. It means a lot to Turkish people, but is worth visiting for tourists as well.
Beautiful place...full of detailed history... must visit
A must visit in Ankara. We were taking photos when there was music playing for a moment in silence, so cool.
If you pass by Ankara and you like history, its a must see place. The monument for Ataturk, the hero of Turkey. All free, a beautiful garden, audio guides in many languages. I met several Turkish people there and many children. They deserve more about their future. God bless Turkish people.
Its spectacular, quite an important attraction if you are interested in Turkish history!
Amazing and so beautiful nice and perfect. Very clean. I recommended here
A magnificent place. Far grander than I expected despite seeing many photos over the years. I did not expect the museum to be so impressive and vast. Also the soldiers standing statue like was interesting and we were lucky enough to see a changing of the guard as we were leaving. A must see if youre anywhere near Ankara and worth a visit even if youre not.
Beautiful monument. Great to see the change of guard ceremony. Lots of places for picture taking.
Attaturk mousoleoum but.. so beautifull place
Father of Turks is resting here for eternal. We will never forget him. Please look at carefully each piece of arts. You will see Turkish War of Independence and Mustafa Kemal ATATURK’s biography.Rest In peace M. K. Ataturk!
Very nice to see. Also changing of the guards was great to watch.
Here lies the great Ataturk. Ataturk is omnipresent in Turkish life and thought. Dont forget to various visit Ataturk Museum that lies all around the tomb.
Impressive to watch the respect for the history and fighters for thr country. White uniform is air, green is land and blue is water. At the end, there was a special ceremony for veterans. The gardens are impeccable.
Mausoleum of Atatürk. Mots respected and well preserved place in Ankara. Its beautiful
Amazing museum set around the Tomb of Former President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk! One of the best museum visited! Enriched with historical content and artifacts. A must visit!!
Anıtkabir is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the leader of the Turkish War of Independence and the founder and the first President of the Republic of Turkey. We visited there on the Turkish Vicrory Day and it was housefull. People carrying turkish flags were everywhere. I am surprised by how they love their great leader.
Its a mousoleum of the first president of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Attaturk. No admission fee. We can take photo & video but around the Mousoleum but not on the security check area as it is the military area.
Very beautiful mausoleum and one of the most famous attractions in Ankara and Turkey, it’s the resting place of the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his colleague and former president Ismet Inönü.The place is very big, it starts off with a big and nice garden that you walk it all the way to reach the historical complex. The place also includes multiple cars and boats of the president on show and a whole museum dedicated to Atatürk and the history of the Turkish Republic, which was really big and nice, and there’s section where you can’t take any pictures for some reason, that section displays some of Atatürk’s belongings. There’s also a beautiful show where soldiers walk across the mausoleum with very precise moves and discipline with harsh shoutings. The architecture of the mausoleum is very beautiful and elegant, and the usage of different kinds of fine marbles and travertines makes the place even more cool. And the place also has a beautiful view of the entire city as well.I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in or near Ankara, it’s very much worth it and the best thing is that it’s free to enter.
Fantastic museum and mausoleum. Learned a lot about Turkey’s fight for independence and the horrible toll it took on the population. The museum is laid out well. The grounds are beautiful with stunning views of Ankara. Easily accessible from metro and free entrance makes this a definite go-to place when in Ankara.
This place is outclass must visit if you visit Ankara, TurkeyMust get umbrella and comfortable shoes if you want to enjoy this place .You have to walk alot .
Good tourist spot. Museum was interesting with varied exhibits including wax figure, original clothing. And paintings.
Very impressive and important place for all Türks! You can have a wonderful walk around and spend lots of time in the museum learning about this important life of the country.
I used to go here as a child because we lived just down the street. Over the years I’ve been back multiple times. I’m in my 60s now and it’s still just as impressive as ever. Ataturk has done so much for this country, nothing is enough in return. If you can time it, go when the guards are changing.
Its wonderful place. You can look at Mustofa Kemal Ataturk grief. There is museum too. You can look at Ataturks inheritance.
A must visit nice place if you are in Ankara.Architectural and historical place, its a public crowded place but well managed. They played anthem after some time dont know exactly when but during that everyone stopped with respect and listen to it, and that was a different experience. So quiet and its like time is paused. On entrance gate they took backpack and stored in a locker.Surrounding to the location you can see the street shopping places.
Anitkabir is the eternal resting place of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, our nations father and the founder of the modern Turkish Republic. It is consisting of a mausoleum, a museum of his personal belongings and photographs, and a second museum about Turkish independence war with detailed information and reanimated scenes. Its a must see landmark, not only to pay tribute to Atatürk, but also to feel his wisdom and greatness...
The mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Attaturk, also theres a cafeteria if you feel tired after visiting
Free admission. Beautiful museum. Learn a lot of Turkeys history after the first world war with Mustafa Kemal Attaturk as a great leader. It is advisable to have sufficient time so that the explanation of each corner can be read clearly. There is a cafeteria if you need a drink or a snack.
A nicely kept mausoleum. There is also a museum. Entire area is large, interesting, and worth to see.
Outstanding!!The best time to visit this marvelous place is after 3 PM. You need to leave backpacks at the security building at the main gate. Lockers are provided for free. A shuttle runs frequently between the entrance and the monument. Around 3:30 pm, the change of guards ceremony starts from the front stairs. There is a long stretch from there to the main building, which the iconic tomb is, of course, the heart of everything.Museum entrance is free, and I totally recommend to visit it before closing time at 5 pm. There is also a gift shop and a cafe in the museum. The staff are very professional, and helpful. The whole area is kept extremely clean.I enjoyed every minute of my experience.
A must go when visiting Ankara. Be respectful and follow the instructions of the custodians. Visit around noon to afternoon to witness the changing of guards and a beautiful moment when everyone stand solemnly while the national anthem proudly playing under the Turkish flag. Amazing!
Here you will find the real great leader. He is so respected by the people if Turkey. Graduated student will bring their certificate to take photo here. Paying respect. Today I see a ceremony of respect to Ataturk - the great leader. Unfortunately my tour do not allow me enough time to see the museum (you have to spend at least more than an hour to see this Wonder museum). The view is amazing to all directions. I also see the guard changing.
It is a grand place worthy of a Great Man. You will understand how Great this Man is the moment you stand next to his tombstone. It is easy to forget he has passed away for he is alive in every Turkish heart and soul.
Crowded but still enjoyable. Pics not-allowed in some places.
I went here as part of a Rick Steves group tour (highly recommended!). This is a really important cultural spot so I can recommend it as a must-do while in or near Ankara! There is also a museum but we didnt have time to go in, we just saw Ataturks book collection. It was quite inspiring to see everyone completely stop and stand respectfully for the National Anthem. And we saw the changing of the guard too!
So beautiful and it has one of the best free museums Ive ever been to. FYI, security holds random bags at entry and unfortunately this happened to us. No reason, they just choose at random. But we had no problems picking ours up again when we left. Dont miss out on the changing of the guard ceremony!
Very important historical monument for the whole Turkey. A must visit when you are in Ankara.
Very clean and interesting to visit, a must see in Ankara. Organisation in the front entrance could have been better (no one told me about the free minibus that can take you up to the main buildingand there should be english speakers everywhere if they truly regard this as a top site. Also, to get an audioguide you must have cash and be prepared to wait as the attendant isnt always there...There are also schoolchildren everywhere and on wreath day (no telling when these coule bethe guards will tell you to stand back and wait until the event is over. No pictures allowed to be taken in certain parts of the museum. The cafe downstairs within the museum doesnt have too many options of both food and seating. Overall a good visit especially with the snow.
One of the places you should visit in Ankara. You don’t need tickets because it’s free. The museum is all about Ataturk and his life. It worth to visit if you are in Ankara.
This place serves as burial ground for the First president of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The actual burial site is located underground beneath the area where the coffin lies. There are guards located at the entrance and you will not be allowed to bring in big bulky bags and you will be asked to leave them at the entrance. Expect to spend around 1 hr at this place.
Good to visit if you like to know Turkeys history . Anıtkabir (« Memorial Tomb »is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the leader of the Turkish War of Independence and the founder and the first President of Republic of Turkey. It is located in Ankara and was designed by architects Professor Emin Onat and Assistant Professor Ahmet Orhan Arda, whose proposal beat 48 other entries from several countries in a competition held by the Turkish Government in 1941 for a monument for Atatürk.The weather wasn’t too good cold and snow.
An architecture designed as bigger than usual human scale to illustrate the achievement of Ataturk. Extensive use of travetine as stone for the exterior and interior gives it a timeless feel. Come about 1130 to see the change of guards.
Historical, Atatürk is a legend, a lot of real belongings of his, you can even hear his voice, location is easy entry on Eskişehir yolu, parking is available, jigh security but worth the visit, you can also see the army men shifting locations with a professional protocol.
It was a pleasure for me to be there, to visit that great man grave, to read Al Fatiha for him, to discover a part of his life from that beautiful museum, I would like to go there again to show that great place for my future children, I recommended
Quite a nice place to visit. Entry is Free, thus crowded.Note that you cannot take bags into the area (bags can be dropped at the entrance or if going by car leave then there). The museum itself is nice to see. This only captures Ataturk history and not the full Turkish History. Two to 3 hours is enough ( if going by car , else to walk around from the gate , give it 3 hrs .Must visit if you are in Ankara .
Turkey is a wonderful tourist destination packed with ancient monuments and natural scenery. Anıtkabir, a mausoleum is dedicated to the founder and first President of Turkey Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The construction was laid in the year 1944 and it also bears features of Seljuk and Ottoman architecture and ornamental details. This is a really amazing place.
"Must to see" place in Ankara. Try to visit there in working day to avoid crowd. Military Marching is done every 30 mins. Nice view of city, dont forget your camera and selfie stick.
Known as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk mausoleum.Access go there using private car you need register prior visiting for parking and entrance access. You can also use public transport metro nearby and walking after ticket entrance booth take you 800m or you can use the shuttle from entrance booth.Once you see stairs building guard by the soldier (yes they alive not statuethen you can buy Audi guidance for full knowledge about this mausoleum.Long walk more to get to the tomb /graveyard of the nation hero, where you can see his graveyard which is placed higher than the floor, well reserve, its clean spacious and well guard. The spotlight is the tomb building very large nice open air in front with 2 side building surrounded. You can see whole turkey mountaineering and city as this place situated in center. Mesmerizing view indeed.Theres 2 wing building that you can explore which display war history and how Atatürk devoted his life for nation and tales about his life during the era.Cafeteria is located after you finish touring the south wings, if you visit during summer time please prepared your bottle drink. You always can refill the water in drink fountain available. Please dont pose in lion statue you damaging the property and kept the guard busy to reminding you to stay away. Keep your distance and obedience of rules of the mausoleum have for example if no camera or recording allowed then kept your gear in your bag and just enjoy the place and scenery avai6 with your eyes.Keep the place clean and always be nice and polite to each other.FYI: THE MUSEUM It closed on 5pmDuring bayram holiday metro and entrance is freeUse your museum card (buy annual membershipyou can explorer whole museum available in turkey in a year.Would be 5 star perfect if they can add more facilities of this place I.e showroom History of the Atatürk life in short movie or else in glance, library corner whereas people can have adequate time to know the figure etcOne thing i need to emphasize for Indonesian specially!I heard rumor swirling around this place particularly, from Indonesian people ( they post in YouTube, TikTok etcsaying this place is stink due to graveyard, and create bad rumor around this nation figure etc its rubbish rumor and baseless. What right do you have to bad mouthing other nation hero!??This is graveyard of Turkish nation hero who deliberate their nation from colonization, despite other things this what tourist should know. Learn history of Turkish people itself or reading the history that summarize and written all over this mausoleum. So just dont judging, commenting and make bad remark of other people nation hero.
