Anicha Hostel in Azogues

Beautiful building with sky light, lots of plants, and lots of cool art. Beds are comfy, rooms are nice, most of the staff is nice, price is good.Internet signal is terrible in the rooms. When internet does work anywhere in the building, its horrible. Hot water runs out immediately. I waited 1 hour for hot water and ended up showering in icy water.If you are a person who uses internet dont come here. 10 Mbps shared by an entire hostel is a sick joke.If you are a person who wants hot water in a cold mountain city dont come here.

Nice place 2 stay

Habitués des auberges de jeunesse après de nombreux voyages, nous ne sommes pas difficiles.Cependant, il faut bien constater que notre expérience ne fut vraiment pas à la hauteur des autres commentaires élogieux.Lauberge est extrêmement bruyante, avec des gens entrant et sortant a toute heure de la nuit. Nous avons été réveillés a 5h30 par un groupe parlant extrêmement fort et mettant même de la musique... Sans pour autant provoquer une réaction de la part du staff de lauberge.Passer cette mauvaise nuit, nous descendons a 8h45 pour prendre le petit déjeuner (prévu entre 8h30-10h30et on nous dit quil ny plus de petit-dejeuners (on nous propose cependant en dépannage quelques morceaux de fruits...).Nous avons donc décidé décourter notre séjour. Cependant, aucun geste de la part du management pour rembourser les nuits payées en avance, qui joue de mauvaise foi...A fuir donc, dautant plus que Cuenca regorge dhôtels et auberges de jeunesse a chaque coin de rue...

Nuit affreuse ! Du bruit non stop de 00 a 6h et le membre du personnel ne semble pas dérangé.. petit dej inclus, on nous dit quil ny en a plus lorsquon souhaite commander mais quon peut nous donner un morceau de papaye a la place...Le manager se pointe a 12h30 et est dune mauvaise fois hallucinante ! Remet la faute sur Booking, sur ses volontaires et lorsque nous demandons un remboursement pour la nuit suivante car nous souhaitons partir, il nous dit quil fait tjrs payer en avance car bcp de gens décident finalement de ne pas rester: SANS SE REMETTRE EN QUESTION ! Nous dit de nous arranger avec Booking,...Quant à la chambre, minuscule et ne correspond pas aux photos (à nouveau, le manager nous dit de nous arranger avec Booking... Comme sil nen pouvait rien !!!), hygiène de la litterie plus que déplorable !A FUIR !!!! Dautant plus, quil y a une série de petits hostel dans le quartier plus sympas les uns que les autres...

Great Hostel ! The team is kind and friendly. The room is cute and confortable. We recommend it.

Excellent central location. Lots of plants in the courtyard bring nature inside. Nice breakfast included. Very welcoming host and volunteers. Access to kitchen is a huge benefit although there are many delicious restaurants in Cuenca. Tables in the courtyard are great for digital nomads/remote workers. We were surprised how quiet it was at night.

The owner(or managerof this hostel is just super rude.Wouldnt recommend it to anybody out there.Beware people!

La atención muy buena! Todes les chiques son muy amigables y atentos. La habitación cómoda y limpia. El patio es hermoso y el ambiente muy acogedor!! Muy buen lugar para quedarse!! El desayuno riquísimo.

Charmante auberge, accueil très chaleureux, ambiance détendue et très sympa.Espace commun agréable et convivial dans un patio intérieur rempli de plantes et de fresques murales. J’y retournerai avec grand plaisir et je recommande vraiment cet endroit avec des gens tellement sympas et souriants !

It was such a nice experience that we had with all the staff from anicha Hostel, Santo and his coworkers were very kind and helpful with everything, you could easily rely on them, me and my girlfriend felt part of tiny family at his place, will definitely come back to anicha Hostel anytime.

The BEST! So beautiful! So comfortable! Its like living in the rainforest with a great staff, free reign of the kitchen and facilities, and its in the center where you can see everything! Ill always stay here when I visit!

Nous sommes arrivés en Équateur le 29/12/2020 depuis la France. Nous avons séjourné à l’hostel Anicha du 08/01 au 12/01/2021. L’hostel est génial : le style, l’accueil, les petits déjeuners, les chambres, la propreté des sanitaires : tout est parfait. Le rapport qualité/prix est imbattable! Sa localisation à quelques pas du centre historique de la jolie ville de Cuenca est un atout supplémentaire. Nous recommandons Anicha et y retournerons avec plaisir !

Fui a Ecuador hace unos años y pare en Anicha. Recomiendo mucho el lugar, tiene buena ubicación, es un Hostel para conocer.Es completo, cómodo, te invita a quedarte varios días.. Anicha tiene paredes pintadas con murales increíbles, plantas, luz natural que asoma del techo, buena onda, cada rincón es lindo. Muy recomendable!

Un lugar un cálido, tranquilo, lleno de naturaleza y arte. Me gustó que todo estaba muy limpio y ordenado, sobre todo la atención excelente. Sin dejar de mencionar los cómodos precios muy accesible. Recomendado 100%

Le doy dos estrellas por la decoracion del lugar, pero la atencion no tan buena. En booking decia que no era necesario hacer un pago anticipado para reserva, pero el dueno nos llamo personalmente a pedirnos que depositemos porque sino no podriamos reservar el cuarto. Al depositar y enviar el comprobante, el dueno nos pidio que le paguemos en efectivo al estar alla debido a que no se habia reflejado aun el pago, a pesar de que le explicamos que tal vez no se refleje hasta el lunes porque era un feriado. El dueno insistio en que le paguemos a pesar de haber mostrado el comprobante y prometio devolvernos el dinero apenas se refleje el pago. Una vez que se reflejo el pago, el dueno tardo 2 semanas en devolver el dinero, despues de insistir todos los dias con la devolucion. Probablemente de no haber insistido, se hubiesen olvidado de devolver nuestro dinero. El desayuno no es tan bueno, al decir desayuno vegetariano o vegano uno se imagina que tienen algo especial que ofrecer, pero son solo tostadas con mermelada, un pan y una tortilla de huevo. Nos dijeron que podiamos llegar mas tardar 2 am, llegamos una noche 12 am y el que nos abrio la puerta nos recibio con mala cara y diciendo: "no se puede venir tan tarde". Dijeron que podriamos usar un bano privado, pero luego nos dijeron que nos tocara usar los banos publicos porque le dieron el privado a una familia, despues de habernos dicho que si podriamos usarlo, y que conste, que nuestra habitacion si debia incluir un bano privado. Repito, el lugar muy bonito, pero la atencion al cliente es mala.

The staff were so friendly, and helpful. The design of the hostel was incredible and artistic and it was such a comfortable experience. It is located very close to the centre of town.

If you ever go to Ecuador you should visit this place!Its a space for conscious people to meet and connect I spent there very beautiful time.

Plus de volontaires Argentin que de client dans létablissement !!Ils sont chez eux..Vraiment limpression de déranger !!Une jolie terrasse avec un bar qui propose un happy hour cocktail bière malheureusement fermé parce quils ont mieux à faire..Frigo vide..Et lorsque que vous demandez si il est possible dacheter une bière à lextérieur pour la boire dans lhôtel on vous répond NON interdiction formelle !!À partir de 23h tous les clients doivent être dans les chambres.. Terrasse close !! Mais encore une fois ouverte pour les volontaires.TRÈS MAUVAISE EXPÉRIENCE...

Nice owner, clean dorms, kitchen, nice breakfast, good location, tv room with Netflix, mediocre wifi.

Lovely place, great location at the very city centre and laidback, creative atmosphere! Kitchen well equipped to cook your own meals (note: the Hostel is vegetarian and doesn’t allow to cook meat there), also the room with the TV and balcony was cool!There could have been more tables for breakfast, and the breakfast itself could do with a little addition to what’s on the table (marmelade and butter at least).Had a great stay altogether and would definitely go there again!

O atendimento é bom, café razoável, mas se vc gosta de privacidade e silêncio, este não é o lugar pra vc. Muito barulhento, escuta tudo o que acontece nos quartos, terrível para dormir.The service is good, the coffee is reasonable, but if you like privacy and silence, this is not the place for you. Very noisy, listens to everything that happens in the rooms, terrible to sleep. I had to cancel and I didnt get a refund.

I enjoyed my stay here a lot! The atmosphere was nice and calm and it was easy to feel comfortable here! The breakfast was good and the people working here are super friendly! The location is also perfect to explore the historic center of Cuenca!

Fortunate to stay at this hotel, the host provided us with a good environment. Whether it is a mural on the wall or a flower in the courtyard, it reflects the originality and artistic flavor of the host. Thank you for letting us feel this Features of historical and cultural cities! This is my 15th long-distance bike ride and Ive reached here by bike all the way from Bogota, Colombias capital. Colombia-Ecuador-Peru-Bolivia.

Definitely the best hostel I ever stayed at, and Ive seen some. Specially for latin american standard of hostels, impecable, perfectly clean, tidy and very spacious. Has a lot of social space, the rooms are great size and beds even more comfortable!! The staff is keeping evwrything in order all the time, love and effort can be felt at all places, walls, plants, details, and the overall energy, when you come there you dont want to leave! The breakfast is also great, the food is only vegan or vegetarian and the whole hostel supports ecological awareness which is wonderful! Felt lile home over there, thank you Santo and all the people!!

Hostel looks nice, but very to loud. Dont expect chill atmosphere, see other reviews. Some guys are playing music the hole day and if the have a break, the turn on music on 700% also no chill sofás or so. You can go in your shaky bunkbed in the smelly room. But its kind of clean. We waited 1hour for the breakfast. But we could cancel the next night and got the money back. Gracias

Too loud for me.This hostel has some good points. The staff are friendly, the showers are hot and the breakfast is nice. The cons are that the rooms all form a circle around the common area that houses the lounge, bar and restaurant. As such, you hear constant conversation and music in your room. If you prefer a quiet room to chill out in, maybe read and if you retire early- this is not the place for you.

Great hostel. Good decoration. Mostly nice staff, just not very welcoming when I got there. It gets better afrer a couple of days tho. The only down side is that they charged me 9$ for my last night instead of 6$ for the 6 people dorm as its written at the reception desk. Also they charge 2$ per day if you want to leave your bag in the luggage room while going to the Cajas National park. Most places usually do it for free. Kitchen is only vegetarian so make sure you are not a meat eater. Other than that its a great spot!

Had a great stay here. Beds are comfortable, breakfast was great and staff were very welcoming. The food is vegetarian and they actually have a compost bin so very planet-friendly (kitchen needs a bit of love though as there are only 4 burners between a lot of guests). Also the place has loads of plants in the common area so its probably good for air quality, right?

Amazing place! Its just incredibly beautiful with all this plants and arts! The staff works really hard to make your stay as nice as possible and they are really lovely. I stayed much longer than planned and had difficulties to leave. Rooms are equipped with big lockers and super comfi beds! Perfect location, clean, hot showers and a very tasty breakfast included! Also the kitchen is free to use after breakfast and well equipped! There is also a second common room with a balcony, yoga matraces for a sport session and a Netflix corner to relax. I loved a lot the attitude of the owner to make this place as environmentally friendly as possible!

The building is beautiful and the manager is nice, but the volunteers have a tightly woven click and are not friendly to newcomers. It was very uncomfortable, I said hello to the group multiple times and they would all just stare blankly and not even crack a smile. On top of that, check out is at 10 AM! The wifi can barely open a page, and the water was barely luke warm. They have a balcony and if you fail to see a tiny sign downstairs, they will charge you $10 for using it after 10pm. thats just petty...also the oatmeal for breakfast was like 40 oats in a fat bowl of warm water. Could be a great place with a staff change and some decent wifi and hot water.

Muy buena energía en el hostel, full limpieza siempre, las personas que trabajan aquí son muy serviciales y respetuosxs , excelente desayuno (vegano y vegetariano), mucho arte por doquier, las habitaciones son muy confortables, la sala de cine es un lugar agradable para poder compartir! Mucha música y malabares🧡 hay WiFi en todas las salas incluidas las habitaciones! Un lugar a donde volvería una y mil veces más, la familia de Anicha es amor!

Pros: very beautiful buildingCons: unpolite staff, staff makes a lot of noise by doing the dishes at 0.30 - 1.00 AM. Private room is very small and nothing to put your clothes. Walls are very thin and no outside window the private room we had.Would no recommend

One of the worst experiences i had in a six month trip.No hit waterNo wifi in roomsNo light in toilets and very durty.They wanted 2 dollar from each person , to storage bags for a couple of hours. Never incountered that before. When i asked the hostal owner if its a common thing. He started yelling at me saying im spoiled and that he hates israelis. He even coursed my mom in spanish. I was in shock.Took my stuff and left. The hostal we were in the day before happily stored are bags for free when we told them the story.I was really afended from him. Dont go there.Israelis..the owner really really hates us from idiology reasons, stay away!!!!

One of the wrirdest experiences i had at a hostel, we got there early at morning after a night bus and they only let us put our bags inside and made us wait outside for 4.5 hours (since 6:30 to 11), when we got to the hostel finally the check in everything was somehow fine (like nothing happened at the few hours before). In general the hostel is good, pretty clean and the state of accommodations are fine but theres the feeling that some of the staff can change depending on their mood and thats a bit of a pity and i think that what affected the whole experience.P.S The kitchen is vegetarian only

This place is AWSOME! A kitchen to cook, bathrooms and showers and a guitar to play all for 6$, oh and inclides Breakfast. This place for sure is my favorite hostel in the country! Not to mention the artwork to, Anicha Hostel is where its at :love and blessings

My worst experience in Ecuador. The hostel itself is pretty and well-maintained. The rooms are clean and theres a nice living room with a balcony. However, the inattentive and uncaring staff ruined my stay. I got to Cuenca around 5:30 from a night bus, and made it to the hostel around 6:30, and they were apprehensive about letting me in. After doing so, they asked if I could come back at 11 for the check-in. They, again apprehensively, agreed to allow me to sit in the lobby until check-in and made no sort of effort at all towards my comfort. Yesterday I tried ordering food twice; the first time the cook had went shopping (at prime lunch timeand the second time nobody cared to take my order. After I returned from lunch, being tired from the night bus, I wanted to nap, but the employees, like a kid getting the aux cord, were blasting esoteric music in the lobby much louder than is appropriate for 2 in the afternoon. This morning I was awoken by the noisy staff talking loudly at 6:30.Just go somewhere where the staff care about your business and quality of stay. It may be cheap and pretty, but the staff act like a group of teenagers with no regard for guests.

The hostel is comfortable and nice.The kitchen you cant use the kitchen long hours during the day and you cant enter the hostel after 11 pm.

Anicha Hostel was amazing! Everything about this place was top notch. The place was artful, the rooms comfortable and the staff were fantastic. Staying at Anicha was the highlight of our Ecuadorian journey.

If there is a place you can call home in Cuenca this place is surely Anicha. Best hostel Ive been. Lovely place where I made friends for life. Thanks for everything guys.

The best hostel ever - absolutely clean, attention to detail, PERFECTION. You really cant ask for more - its also one of the cheapest hostel. The cleanliness makes one feel absolutely at home. Bright lively colours all around the hostel. They have a lovely dog too. Its really hard to leave this place. FYI - Ive backpacked across South America for quite a few months now!

+ one of the most beautiful, artistic hostels I’ve been in. All the walls are painted with colourful murals and there are plants and herbs everywhere; literally a breath of fresh, green air. The open plan courtyard is great as well as many hidden common areas you can use to chill or to gather. I imagine during peak season this place must be buzzing+ One of the best showers I’ve had in a South American hostel in terms of water pressure, hot water, general cleanliness. Though they did lack a certain privacy with the whole open plan feel of the hostel.+ the best equipped and organised kitchen I’ve encountered yet. I cooked almost all my meals here, even though it ended up awkwardly being at the same time as the staff. Note it’s a VEGETARIAN kitchen only. Eggs allowed.+ Great breakfast, which is rare. You have two options; the healthy porridge and fruit (which I make for breakfast anyway so this was great as it was a huge portion and made for meor eggs and bread. Unlimited coffee and tea also provided. A welcome break from the bread and jam unhealthy start to the day.+ super clean and the hostel doesn’t feel too hot or cold regardless of weather.+ comfortable beds and all rooms apart from the final one I was put in were spacious.+ though it appeared there was a strange curfew due to the “door remains locked at these times” policy, I got home pretty late one night and there were no problems. Plus I was reassured that it’s not an issue and someone is always available.+ it’s a shame I came during low season as there wasn’t much of an atmosphere, which is key as a solo traveller. But this place has the potential to be amazing when it’s full of cool, social travellers.- although the staff are lovely and went out of their way to accommodate my early morning check out, there’s a sense that they have this little volunteer family vibe going on and to ask anything or even just go into certain common areas/kitchen sometimes feels like you are intruding. As a guest we really should not be made to feel this way, though I understand that they’ve formed a community. However this is a business and the guests needs to feel welcome.- No mirrors anywhere except the one in the bathroom. No sockets near those scarce mirrors means I couldn’t dry my hair properly or if you’re a man, electric shave. Lack of privacy in the showers, esp for the men as it’s a bit open. I didn’t mind so much as I just got changed behind the shower curtain.- Due to a large group booking, I was moved out of my bed into a new dorm TWICE. Due to a mistake. So I moved between three beds in one morning, and ended up in the smallest room. Bit annoying.- a common theme in South America; having to ring the doorbell every time you want to get in so it’s constantly ringing if there are a lot of guests

Beautiful (but loudbuilding, with a patio, which looks nice, but is not used by the guests. Reasons: no confi couches, but tables and seats + the hostel has lots of argentinian, spanish speaking volunteers, who "dominate" the patio.Nice and friendly owner and staff, they are also very flexible, but not experienced how to run a hostel: e.g. they let people check in at 8 am - without thinking about other guest(ssleeping in the room...

This place is ok, however, breakfast is extremely basic, I would not say it includes breakfast when advertising it at all.

This place is fine if you are looking for a relax hostel and dont mind the noise or a shared bathroom. I recommend it for young people, nomads and backpackers
