Angels Flight Railway in Vernon
Description
Privilege
More crowded on the weekends but its a $1 unique experience
Loved it 👌😁📸It cost $1 dollar to use it and they accept card, you will pay it in the top. I think its worth it to use it in case youre walking around as well.
MoreBest ride and staff so good humble. Clean and very good peaceful environment.
Happened to be near this place, and searched for must visit spots on google maps and here we are. Short ride which is fun, and good time to get some pictures too. Staff is friendly. $2 round trip. Got off it and explored grand central market and rode back.
MoreA great piece of Los Angeles history that is affordable and accessible. The cable cars are in great condition, it is clear that they are maintained well.If you board from the bottom, get on the cable car and you pay at the top. Vice versa, if you board at the top, you pay before boarding. The ride itself is very short, perhaps 45 seconds each way, but the other option to walk the hill which is not pleasant, especially on a hot day.Fares are cheap being $1 each way. Cash or card payment is accepted.
MoreLast time I rode the Angels Funicular railway was over 60 years ago. It was/is fun.
MoreEasy way to get up the hill, or down. The ride costs $1 and you pay at the top.
Something curious in LA Downtown! Take the time and do it. It is in front of the principal entrance of the Central Market. Take the monorail and in the top you will pay $1. In a seconds you will be in between some high buildings and the view is nice! In the top you can find a Starbucks and little tables for enjoy a delicious drink. Please, cross to the Gran Ave and walk in. 😉
MoreOur wait is longer than the actual ride! We were going up so it beats walking up the stairs. $1 per person per ride.
MoreWent on a hot day. Don’t recommend that felt like a sauna, but at least it’s short. Don’t expect anything more than just a quick 1min trip up the hill. Still I enjoyed it for the historical aspect. Price $2.
MoreI did a walking tour through historic Bunker Hill and the history of Angel Flight is pretty interesting. This isnt the original location of this short railway but the views and access to Central Market makes it an easy stop for locals or visitors. At the top you will have amazing views and will be smack dab in the middle of many skyscrapers and access to The Broad, MOCA and Disney Hall.
MoreFirst time on it! A short cut to central market!$1/per person i think its reasonable~And the train is pretty cute:)
MoreIf you want to avoid stairs and enjoy the beautiful car train ride, then this is what you need! One way ticket is 1$ which you pay after reaching at the top!
MoreVery very very rude lady at the ticket booth. No times posted. Window was open so my wife and I tried to ask if they were open. The worker slammed the window shut and stormed out the door without saying anything. Went and sat on her phone! We were in absolute disbelief in the unprofessional attitude from such an unprovoked act. Just take the stairs and avoid this nonsense
MoreIt’s cool, it’s iconic and it’s only $1 (50c if you have tap cardwhat more can you ask! Fun with kiddos too. Come early, most likely you’re have the whole cart to yourself!
MoreWeeeeeeee!!! 🚂 So cute!! 🥰 Its a fun part of history. Yes its old. Yes its squeaky. But its the easiest way up the hill. 🚂 It stages the best photos and sits between two food courts.
MoreAccidentally ran across this little railway while on our way to grab some eats. What an excellent way to get up and down the stairs while my hands are full of treats from the Grand Central Market!! The ride is really quick, but the train car itself was a beautiful piece of history.
MoreA historic funicular that goes up and down downtown Los Angeles steepest hill called Bunker Hill.Unfortunately did not get to ride it today since it is close for renovations.
MoreRight now its under maintenance so unable to experience the ride. Itll be under maintenance until July I believe. Other than that, its nice to look at and its right across Grand Central and its a short walk from Omni Hotel which was very convenient for me.
MoreVery nice old train with a great story behind and many re-openings until today. It costs 1 usd but with tap card price is half of it. They gently allow us to share the card, only cash pay no credit cards. It´s small but spacious enough for everyone to enjoy the quick ride and support its maintenance. One of Los Angeles treasures that any visitor must know or at least read about the history of this railway in the city.
MoreLike others have mentioned, this was definitely a very cool experience for the few bucks it costs. It also certainly beats trying to walk around/up that hill.WARNING: The design of the railway and railcart makes it vibrate/screech during the middle part of the ride as the track bends, but the metal wheels on the car do not. If you have advanced anxiety issues, the abrupt loud + vibration may startle you.
MoreWorlds shortest railway line Angles flight is an unique experience in middle of LA downtown. There can be some waiting and rides stop for some time, but the operators are pretty efficient when the line is operational. If you have metro card you can get the ride at Half the price so be sure to show it. Must try if you are in the area.
MoreNice & unique experience which costs only 1$Need 15-30 mins of time
This is my 3rd funicular I’ve been to and was as expected. Fun little trip going up and down. It’s a nice landmark to visit.
MoreIt was a fun night and the view was stunning. Also theres a wedding party going on last night. We got to listen free music and saw people dancing. It was great experience, the cable car was almost empty. You need to pay $2 per person when you reach the top to get in. The lady was very friendly at the counter.
MoreAlthough it was just a ride up and down on the hill but took it because of historic significance. It is over 100 years old railway. Only charges $2 for round trip.
MoreSuch a fun experience for only $1, .50 if you download a scanner with them! It was a cool experience and so historical! If you can, check it out!
MoreMy family and I thought it was a fun little ride. It was kinda startling when we hear a noise from underneath the car but it mightve just shifted. The view was great 😸
MoreThere is parking in grand central market or you can take the metro and get off at Persian Square. Recommend to check out grand central first, then take the Angel’s Flight up. Check out the view and walk toward to the Broad museum and Walt Disney Concert Hall. You can get back to grand central market by taking the tram. Each ride is $1. Wait is about 3min. Not too many people on the Saturday I went there.
MorePretty ko ride, a bit ruff but fun nevertheless. Kids loved it.
Only $1 for the ride and its right in front of the Central Market so you can get some food after, part of beautiful downtown LA.
MoreFun and historic. Good price and tickets are 1/2 price if you have a LA metro card. It doesn’t seem reliable at all though as I bought a round trip ticket, we went down the hill for lunch and after lunch it wasn’t operating any more. Walking up the hill sucked so I was pretty disappointed it wasn’t working.Pretty cool ride though.
MoreVery short but historic ride in Bunker Hill. And at $1 you cant knock the price.
Nice little railway right by the grand Market...good views to see ...a little bumpy ride so my toddler sort of got scared for a second then said excitingly lets do it again....
MoreAbsolute sensless but nevertheless top romantic! Only 1 Dollar fee. Many movies where shot there. Central Market is the place to park, just 4 Dollar for 90 Minutes and you can have drinks and snacks there. So visit the worlds shortest fonicular. It is worth it!
MoreA complete must if you’re visiting downtown L.A and exploring around! The fare to ride is $1, if get on the side right across the Grand Central Market you will have to wait to get all the way up to pay the ride. You can use your TAP card but if you pay cash you get this really cute souvenir ticket 🎫 (so if you want to keep a memory now you know)The ride up is quick and fun, and for a plan of visiting the market and later the Broad museum, this makes the way up the hill a million times better. Fun fact: this railway appears in one scene of LaLaLand!
MorePretty Cool little railway, costs 1 dollar to ride one way, unless you use a TAP Card, then thats 50cents one way. When going down, you pay at the top before you get on, while for going up, you pay at the top when you get off.
MoreThis is a great deal for a short entertainment outing. The cost is only $1 each way. Once youve got to the top, its a very beautiful area to look around. The people on the train were very pleasant and enjoyed the experience quite a bit. It doesnt take very long to ride, but its well worth the price.
MoreThe historical Angels Flight is a must if youre visiting Los Angeles it is a great way to get up to the plaza (better then going up a ton of stairsbut it is also cheap. Tickets cost $1 per person and if you have a tap card it costs you 50 cents. It is a short ride and it does tend to shake which is kind of scary but it is a a good place to visit and ride if youre in Los Angeles. You also get a nice view of Downtown LA once you reach the top
MoreTakes you to great views, quick 60 second trip... A nice piece of history to enjoy. $1 each way, or you can get the $2 roundtrip souvenir ticket which we did 👍
MoreI visited this attraction on Sunday morning and unfortunately it was closed. Anyway this short railway looks ver nice. It is like a time capsule. I hope I can ride it next timeI visit LA.
MoreNice ride if you catch it empty… we went on a hot day it was really stuffy inside once we rode back up and it was super packed. $1 each way… if you start at the bottom, just enter and pay at the top when your exit.
MoreAfter seeing this featured in recent shows (Perry Mason, Bosch), I had to check out this unusual attraction. Its a cool little blast from the past scaling a steep hillside in LA. Its a quick trip and therefore not a huge commitment. Check it out if youre in the area.
MoreOkay this is a fun thing to do when you are in the downtown Los Angeles area! :-dont expect a long train ride! LOL it is rather short! :-but it is worth it and you get some really nice views from the top! And it only cost a dollar each way two dollars round trip. :-)
MoreIve lived in Los Angeles the majority of my life and didnt realize this was here. Really cute and quaint where theres plenty of picture opportunity. Shortest railway in California where its 98 feet up a steep hill and can ride the train down for $1.00. 👌🏾
MoreRiding this historic railway really feels like ridings in a time machine to a forgotten place in the distant past. I remember seeing Angels Flight in Its original location when I was a kid. I couldnt understand the original concept because the Bunker Hill neighborhood had already been razed and the train didnt seem to go anywhere except to the top of a bare hill. Well I am happy the train is back in service and now services the many skyscrapers now at the top of Bunker Hill. Definitely check it out!
MoreSooo Angels Flight Railway was super cute and helpful. I spotted this walking back to my hotel which I did not look forward to climbing that Cali hill. You hop on and pay at the top. I paid for the historic ticket because I thought the history was interesting. Definitely a one time must try!
MoreThis is a fun historical site in downtown LA. Worth visiting and viewing, great for tours, especially before or after shopping and dining across at Grand Central Market.
MoreAngel flight railway is the shortest railway in the world, and this is the best place to go for the first time and then buy round tickets. However, you can just take a one trip, and get the other one for souvenir. When you go on the top, you van also take the picture there. The best way to go is between afternoon and night. And you can also come back here at night to take some pictures.
MoreRailway ride in the Bunker Hill district of the district of Downtown Los Angeles if you are going up can have a nice view of the city and take amazing pics of the buildings for just one dollar if you are going down across the street is located the Grand Central Market.
