Angel Restaurant - Korean restaurant in Liverpool, United Kingdom
The most delicious Chinese and Cantonese food I have ever tasted in my life!Outstanding service and such lovely staff.I would highly recommend it.
Unbelievably bad. Kimchi pancake that does not even have a speck of kimchi in it. Ordered "beef bulgogi", but turned out to be a stir-fry (instead of the more typical BBQ)! And a confused mix of supposed Korean and Chinese food on the menu -- they arent really interchangeable, you know... Not sure how this has 4+ stars on Google. I would give it 0 if Googled let me.
Went there with my sister, lovely little spot in the middle of the city centre. Quite a small location, so good thing we booked in advance. The interior decoration was so pretty inside. The staff were really lovely and the food came out quickly! The menu looked so good and authentic and we both had Korean dishes which was a first to me which was really good! The pricing was really decent as well! Id definitely reccomend this place to anyone looking for good Asian (Korean/Chinesefood at not too high a price.
The food was very disappointing. We ordered eel bibimbap, but it arrived with almost 90% rice and with just a little bit of onion and pepper under the eel (see picture). I would not call this bibimbap and sell to customers. This is very misleading. We also ordered the cheese volcano egg fried rice with beef. The name on the menu sounded very fancy, but unfortunately its just mostly fried rice with a lot of cucumber and you could barely taste the cheese or beef (see picture).
Recently moved to Liverpool and went here since it was advertised as a Korean restaurant online. The sign "Angel" outside was even in Korean (작은 천사so I assumed it would be a Korean run restaurant but its not. I dont know what ingredients they used but they managed to make the Korean dishes that I tried taste more Chinese than the Chinese dishes themselves. I am personally not a fan (maybe Im being too picky since Im Koreanbut Im sure some people might like it (who knows, maybe this is actually the best Korean place in Liverpool, and if so, Ill update this review after I try out other Korean restaurants in the area). If this review was based purely on the Korean menu, it would not be as highly rated. However, Im glad to report that the Chinese menu is a totally different story. The Chinese menu is definitely one of the best Chinese Ive had. Its not greasy, its deliciously flavoursome and its a cuisine Im sure the chef is an expert in. The service is also fantastic, the lady there is friendly and cheerful. Totally makes the place. All in all I would 100% recommend the Chinese menu and Ill be re-visiting there myself, but I would give the K side a pass.
Always a pleasure to come to Angel, the food is absolutely delicious and the staff super friendly. Highly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken. A true hidden gem in Liverpool!
Lovely authentic food. Very nice staff, reasonable prices. We only found it by accident. It is upstairs but does have a lift. The entrance is on Hanover street opposite turtle bay. We will go back .
This restaurant provides two good things, the ambiance, and the food. But it excels at another. Service. The owner/head chef is also one of the waiters, so she knows very well how much to order per person as to not waste any food, and will always take care of anything you need with an honest smile. In terms of the food, it was great. Not amazing, but great. You have 2 menus to order from: a Chinese food menu, and a Korean food menu. We went with the latter. As a starter, we had the mixed kimchi, which had 4 bowls of different kinds of Korean-style fermented vegetables, like cabbage, cucumber (the best one by far), and radish (the worst one by far). We also asked the owner what was her favorite starter, and she recommended the beef dumplings, which you very much should order, as they are delicious. For the main course, we had the Spicy Rice Cakes (tteok-bokki), and the Eel Bibimbap. At first, it might seem like the Rice Cake portion is small, but as most rice based dishes, it is surprisingly filling. Flavor wise, it was good, but it truly shined in its texture. The Eel Bibimbap was truly delicious, but it had 2 faults in our opinion. The eel still had a fair amount of bones, and the bowl wasnt hot enough, so it didnt create that crust of crispy rice on the edges that you expect from a Bibimbap. The total bill (with the 50% off from the Eat Out to Help Out programmewas 19.35£ (38.70£ without the discountfor 2 people.Overall, the restaurant has a good representation of Korean food, a decent price/value, and what in my opinion is an amazing, welcoming and almost family-like service.Thank you Ming (the owner).
Beautiful place amazing food would give 6 stars if possible
What an absolute gem of a restaurant! The decor is beautiful with a nice ambience, the food is delicious and the staff are lovely, too. My friends and I had bibimbap and it was glorious! I will definitely be returning next time im in the area.
visited today on a quiet friday afternoon-most people make use of the eat out to help out scheme!! we had a lovely experience, the restaurant is beautiful and well decorated! we were welcomed by a really friendly lady who took great care of us and the beef bibimbap was excellent!! if i come back to liverpool i will definitely return 💜💜
Omg me, my bestie just had lunch, the food was amazing, comes out steaming hot, the staff are beaitiful. I recommend any one of my friends or family who loves Chinese to come here either in the day or any evening out. This is the best Chinese restaurant I have been to in a long long time.
Absolutely delicious food and great service!! Definitely recommend. Only downside is that the food is pricey. There’s more veg than meat in their dishes, yet a main dish is £11/£13 (bibimbap and soup).
Tremendously disppointing experience ! We arrived at the restaurant at 7:45pm, the restaurant refused to serve us. We are regular customers at the restaurant, we have never been treated this badly before. The reason behind us not being served the night was not clarified, they gave us a simple answer boss said we dont take orders. I am extremely upset at such poor treatment, I think it is completely unacceptable. The closing time of the restaurant is at 10pm and given that we reached at a normal dinner time at 7:45pm , the restaurant is not full and several ( around 7 empty tables were available, it is completely ridiculous for the restaurant not being able to serve us. There is nothing more disappointing than turning up to a restaurant to the appreciate and enjoy their food, but ending up being refused at the door.I truly hope the Angel Restaurant improves on their service and acknowledge that this is not the applicable way to treat customers.
Absolutely delightful food and atmosphere. Staff were welcoming and friendly.
Great food with fair price!I find that most Korean related restaurant are charging service fees, but not this one, the staff are kind and friendly:but u have order the appraiser though.
Brilliant. Proper Korean. Good value for money. Good service, very attentive to your timing. I recommend the Bibimbap, beaf dumplings and fried chicken balls.
Absolutely wonderful experience here! The staff are so lovely, friendly and professional. And the food was outstanding! Would highly recommend the hot pot. Will definitely be going again soon!
Friendly staff and the korean hotpot actually tasted quite good despite having a little adjustment to suit to the local tastes
My wife and I used to live in Korea, so we often crave Korean food. This place was a great find while visiting Liverpool. The food was tasty and authentic, the service warm, and the price more than reasonable. Definitely recommended!
Great food! Very clean and calm place. Korean food is so good. Very decent prices. Love to go there every month.
Really love this restaurant. The staff are very nice and the food is absolutely delicious, probably my favourite restaurant in Liverpool. Reasonable prices and large portions. Hope you start delivering soon!
Friendly staff, authentic taste of Korean cuisine. Their BBQ is yum as well with decent plates. The best Korean restaurant in Liverpool can’t beat. Also tried their Chinese food, absolutely fab
Great Korean and Chinese food with extremely friendly staff. Beef hot pot was excellent with pork belly, bibimbap particularly nice. Cannot overstate the friendliness of the staff. I hope to go back soon.
Really nice Korean food. Cooked well and decent portions. Nice chilled out lighting and decor. A bit scruffy looking in certain areas. Fully disabled access. The menu is a bit confusing but the waiter clarified it.
Had a lovely night here. Food was really nice and staff were always there for anything needed. We had a large group most of which never had tried Korean food. Staff were brilliant. Meals were served quickly and excellent quality
The place was amazing! A lot of different options and excellent food! The only thing that was an inconvenient was that you had to pre order the korean bbq but that was our fault. Other than that it was very good.
What a well kept secret. First discovered a month ago and have already been back thrice.Food always tastes delicious and looks appealing!
Great food, beautiful place. Hidden in plain sight. One of our favourite places to eat
Nice food with lovely staffsespecially their Korean foodMe and my boyfriend visited this place twice and we love it

This place is brilliant! Great food and service, authentic and tasty korean food. Very nice portions as well. Please try it and tell your friends.
We wanted to eat Korean food and ended up at Angel Restaurant. We have no regrets. We love spicy food but never thought that Korean food could be spicy. It was AMAZING!I tried hite (Korean beerwhich was delicious. And then ordered squid and mussels as our starters (sorry I can’t remember the names Of the dishesand then ordered pork and beef main courses. It was mind blowing! If you are in the area - please go there.
Good meal, friendly service.I had an amazing Eel Teppanyaki, and an okay bibimbab. The honey citrus tea was an elegant touch and a nice surprise though, really wish I knew how they make it.Place is big and can accommodate bigger groups. Would recommend.
I was traveling for 3months in France and UK with my two kids. We visited Korean restaurant in major cities such as Paris, Strasbourg, London, Edinburgh etc. And this is the best Korean restaurant we ever met during our long journey. We visited angel restaurant everyday while we were in Liverpool. Every dish was as great as you would expect from in Seoul. They try to keep the original Korean recipe while many others made fusion food. I highly recommend angel restaurant to who wants to taste real Koran food not mixed style.
First time here after we ve seen it a month ago.Korean food lovers we were more than excited to see a Korean restaurant in Liverpool ( or another one. From the entrance you can see its very clean and nice decorated.Staff very friendly, a lot of help from them , especially from the lady owner!Great job for opening this restaurant! Food was delicious ! -cheese volcano with pork, mixed kimchi for starter and kimchi stew (with pork). We ll be back for sure!
Meal is really good and it has lots of choices of Korean food. Meanwhile, the Chinese spicy dish is also recommended.
A fantastic place to eat. The restaurant is beautiful itself, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The manager saw that we hadnt eaten korean food before and recommended some excellent options. They were served quickly, and she made sure we were happy, and told us to relax and enjoy the food slowly. It was excellent... And we will definitely be returning again and again.
Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Interior design is beautiful. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious - particularly loved the fried rice. Will definitely recommend this place.
Wonderfully authentic food and delicious of course! Great friendly staff who are very welcoming to their guests. Couldnt have had a better experience!
Sunday late afternoon birthday lunch with eldest daughter and family. Good efficient staff, generous servings, the Kimchi here is excellent-not too salty, sour or over fermented (had to have a second plate as the family demolished the first!Beef Hot pot as plenty of variety and flavour without being spicy hot! Would definately eat here again.
Excellent food and wonderful customer service. The food came quickly and very well presented. It was our first time eating Korean food and the staff were kind to explain the dishes. We had Bibimbap, kimchiand seafood pancakes and they were delicious
Very very happy with the Korean food. Visited midweek and easily got a booth, seemed popular with Asian students. Waiter seemed a little grumpy, though not overly so and service was still good, senior staff member/manager was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this place 4.5 / 5
Would definitely recommend thIs place whether you love Korean food or wish to try something new. I have now been here several times with my girlfriend and we have both enjoyed it thoroughly. The food is great, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is lovely. It’s always been quiet when we’ve gone and it also always clean.
Lovely place with a load of food options. The food was amazing and at a really good price. Going again soon
Love this place, decor is great, the place looks really nice and clean, staff are v friendly and the food is amazing. Ate so much here and didnt feel sickly or bloated after, in fact was wishing I had more room! They even adapted dished to suit vegetarians present and food seems really healthy as well as tasty. Highly recommend this place to anyone
Your Voice Your Choice went to Angel restaurant in Liverpool for Davids Birthday lunch, we all sat down at the table we ordered drinks. From the menu we all ordered the first starter which was a beautiful chicken and sweet corn soup with prawn crackers. The main course was a choice of pork or chicken, sweet and sour, red curry, green curry or black bean sauce with a choice of rice and chips. The lunch buffet cost £7.90 per person which is very cheap The staff were very nice to talk to and we had a lovely meal and drinks. They were helpful, polite and gave us an excellent service, the facilities were easy to access and excellent. We are planning to come back in the near future we would recommend this place to friends and family.
When me and my Korean wife first arrived, we were worried that the food wouldnt be authentic Korean food due to the Chinese vibe. We asked the staff if the food would be authentic Korean style so they told us that they have a Korean chef and that we could talk to her. When we spoke to her, she promised us that she would make the food just like in Korea, it made my wife so happy! Surely enough, when the food came, it was really delicious and a very generous portion size (with a reasonable price). The Korean chefs name is Esther Jeon. If any Koreans (or anyone elsewant the best authentic Korean food, ask to speak with her!Very friendly staff, delicious food! I recommend here to anybody looking for an amazing Korean meal!We really appreciate how you treated us Esther! Thank you so much, we will come again for sure! God bless you.
Liverpool has been needing a good Korean restaurant, so this was a welcome discovery. It has quite a good selection on the menu and the food is pretty decent. Very filling portions and good flavours, its so satisfying to get Bibimbap in a proper hot stone bowl. The place is tidy and clean and has a nice atmosphere and the staff are nice. Will probably go back again some day to try the hot pot!
My sister and I have been wanting to try Korean food for a while and Im so glad we did. The restaurant was full of what I assume were Asian students looking for a taste of home which is usually a sign that the food is good.I can say I wasnt disappointed as the food was excellent - we ordered the teppanyaki prawns and a barbecued pork dish which came with rice and a reasonably sized portion of kimchi. They have two menus - one Korean cuisine and one Chinese cuisine. But what really made the experience special was how friendly and welcoming the staff were. They made sure we were comfortable and happy and explained the menu to us when we were unsure of what was best to order. Overall, a really lovely experience and a great meal - will definitely go back again!
