Angel's Soul food & BBQ in Sanford

I visited on the 17th of September @ 3:52pm. I was really looking forward to the oxtail dinner and I must say that I was very disappointed in the entire meal. The oxtail had more fat than meat and there wasn’t any kind of gravy on them. I also didn’t get everything that I paid for and after the great disappointment, I was glad that it wasn’t in the meal. I drove 2.5 hours to get there and I must say that I wasted my time and money because I couldn’t eat the food. I was looking forward to eating the oxtail but it was a hot mess and I threw away two meals and money down the drain. I want be back and I will not recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed!!!🤮☹️

I tried this place 2x through Doordash and unfortunately I wont be ordering again. I had the Dark Fried chicken combo with greens, Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes & gravy the first time. The chicken tasted horrible like it was made in old oil and slightly burned. The greens SLAPPED!! I added some ACV and hot sauce to it and loved it.The corn bread that came with it was cold and small, the mac n cheese was just okay to me, and so were the mashed potatoes. I ordered it a bit later that night so I figured I would give them another try. This time I ordered the BBQ pig feet, 2sides of greens, and mashed potatoes. The pig feet had no BBQ on it. I only received 1 side of greens. The potatoes were the same and the cornbread was stale. As much as I love some soul food, I cant justify this. Hopefully others will have better luck with thus place than i did.

I saw this place last time I was in Sanford and I was finally able to try it today. 100% would recommend; Yams, beans, and rice were excellent! Baked chicken was delicious as well. Cozy and welcoming family atmosphere. I will definitely come back.

The food was excellent. We had the oxtails dinner, including macaroni cheese and collard greens. The oxtails were big and tender. Everything was delicious. 😋

I was ordering for an impromptu family get-together and needed to feed 8. I didn’t want pizza again. I saw the great reviews on DoorDash and decided to give it a try. I ordered two pulled pork family feast. I could have gotten by with one, there was a generous portion of meat, and just purchased additional sides. The meat was tender and delicious and sides were so good we all wanted more!

I was here in town at a funeral and wanted some soul food! I came here and that sh** was so good lol! I had to curse, that’s how good it was! The Mac and cheese didn’t look appealing but looks can be deceiving! Everything was good! I had fried chicken, greens, Mac and bake beans! Lemon cake too!🔥

Ordered for the first time tonight and WOW. Like eating at my grandmas where she would spend the after noon shoo8ng everyone out of her hot kitchen.....but we were just so excited about what she was cooking up!Pulled pork so tender it melts - no extra sauce needed, candie yams soft and sweet, fried okra perfectly seasoned, cornbread sweetened just right.Looking forward to coming by again sometime. Just wish my grandparents were here to try it too!

Best soul food in Sanford I took a friend and girlfriend both who are from out town and they love it so much I had to take them back before they left back out of town.

It was my first experience eating at that establishment and I must say it is the best soul food that I have ever eaten... The staff was friendly the food was prepared excellent!!!! I would recommend that place to anyone and everyone you will absolutely love it.......

Honest review!!! So I walked in here with low expectation because they usually result in low disappointments to me…. The end result was amazing! I love this place the meatloaf and fried chicken amazing! The corn bread was to die for!! I ordered a dinner plate ( two meats and 4 sides: collards, white rice, yams, cabbage; meat loaf and fried chicken). Not sure if they have deserts but I will need to inquire next visit!!!! Oh-emmm-geeeeee, When I tell you it hit the spot?!?!! I came back the next day! I would have returned for a 3rd day but they were closed. I’ll be back on Wednesday without a fail!!! Only reason why I only rated it a 4 star is because they should pack the sides in separate containers. The Togo plates arent the best. The juice from the sides leak in with your rice and I don’t like my rice soggy!! It’s okay, though I’ll ask next time!

Ive given Angels a few tries.... The verdict is still out. The sides are the best but they serve chicken leg quarters 5 different ways and really arent that great.. underwhelming to be honest.

Dont expect any smiles, or edible food. The photos of beautiful BBQ are not the boiled down slop dumped in the Styrofoam. Pulled pork was a very old burnt pork chop cut into strips. and drowned in bad sauce. Fries were hot and fresh no salt,or ketchup available. Sorry..Not 5 star NO WAY.. 2 STAR I GAVE IS BEING NICE.

Best Fried Chicken in Florida. Also the sweet tea is on another level good.

1st time visit. Very disappointed in the quality of food I received. The greens were bland and too salty even with hot sauce. The smothered pork chops were tender but had no flavor and again salty. The ice tea had way too much sugar. I got a sugar rush. I really wanted to like the place but the food is just ok but not worth me coming back. I ended up throwing the whole container in the garbage when I got home. Waste!

Just left this establishment. I got the smothered pork chop and BBQ Chicken dinner. I was charged the “ Uncharged Price” and when I questioned the lady at the register she rudely informed me that “ The prices on the menu is wrong” she also informed the other employees that the prices on the menu is wrong.No apology, no compensation, sadly just attitude. Beware you will always be met with Inconsistencies, attitude and overall rude staff when you come here.

It was all soo great , Great is an understatement. All the food is home cooked and you can tell. I foolishly asked for sauces, you do not need them. The food taste good on its own. Everyone was friendly and proud to let their customers know that they are a family owned business. This establishment was such a good experience from the second we walked in the door . We will be back and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Visited Angels to have wings and fries. Order was prepared while I waited. The employees were very friendly and attentive to my needs.

New to the area. Pescatarian. I was blessed to find this soul food place 5 min from us. Food was so good, they turn me back to a meat eater temporarily. It reminded me of my moms cooking. Please pray for us. We are addicted now.Reasonable prices. High quality taste.

Amazing BBQ and Fried Chicken delicious complimented with candied yams with Mac &cheese. Did I mention corn bread and homemade cake. Service was quick and friendly.

We were traveling from Indiana. Best soul food Ive ever had. I tried to get their baked beans recipe out of the cook! The beans were amazing, the cornbread was fresh and fluffy, like cake, the chicken was juicy. It was incredible. Definitely will be back when we come back down to Florida.

Uhg, this place is too too good. I can’t wait till I can make it back. Everything, and I mean everything we got here was amazing. Fried chicken, smothered pork chops, baked beans, collards, Mac and cheese. All to die for. Do yourself a favor and grab a bite. You won’t be sorry.

When they say "soul food" they really mean it! It was as if every single bite that went in my mouth was reaching my very soul and giving me such good comforting feeling full of a variety of flavors, I especially recommend the sweet beans, I have never in my life tasted anything like it, was a pleasant surprise. The fried chicken is crunchy and crispy in the outside and tender and juicy in the inside, the Mac and cheese is heavenly! Oh my! Need I say more?

Don’t order through any apps. They don’t bother to call if they run out of food and will continue to take orders and sell food they don’t have. Something completely different will show up to your door. I’m highly disgusted.this is like the 4th or 5th order being wrong.

Just moved and so happened to stumble upon this place. Absolutely amazing food! From the food to the atmosphere was perfect.

The food was great. Somebodys uncle is definitely in the kitchen throwing down. The food is a little pricey but definitely worth the buy to support a family run business.

I ordered pork chop dinner and baked chicken dinner. My pork chops were thin and cooked too hard and the corn was terrible. I never had a problem or bad plate before. I didnt call right away because they were closing.

The worst customer service ever! They girl with the half done pink braids need therapy. I don’t know who hurt her, but she needs to talk to someone professionally about it. Just mad at the world. We can’t keep supporting these places. Chick-fil-a would never. Also, they don’t ever have white meat. I guess it’s because dark meat is cheaper. Whatever, keep being rude and getting over on your people that try to support you, I won’t be back. And stop adding water to the soap. Soap is $1 at Wal-Mart.

Why on earth will you have your restaurant on Dash open today… a Sunday if your operational hours are different??? Almost after an hour of ordering the order got cancelled 😡Annoyed doesn’t even start to describe the discomfort we feel… specially when it was the first time ordering from you!If this is the first impression would you think we’ll order again???

Food was delicious. I had fried catfish and it was seasoned and fried perfectly. The smothered porkchop was average. I would definitely recommend!!

My first and last visit. Food was good but not good enough to make me want to return. The three girls who were serving (?were rude and dismissive. It was NOT necessary to treat people the way they did. The owners might want to consider hiring people who don’t act bothered and interrupted when someone comes in and aske a few questions and wants to order.Very sad ……

Food was great! Desert was great! Service was great! Portions was great! Fried catfish could have been fried a little longer and maybe two pieces instead of one. Drinks w were very sweet, but overall my husband, kids and I were very satisfied. Will be returning! Smothered pork chops and cabbage was my favorite

After watching one these women eating with her bare hands licking her fingers and all (she has the black hair tied to the back with no letters on her shirt)on a live broad cast called bigo then she goes to wipe her face and pull the back of her pants up THEN serve some food with no MASK ALL OF THEM gloves or hair net as well and you can hear ONE OF them coughing in the back Its an ABSOLUTELY NO!!!!! The health dept needs to be on the look out for this!!!!! THIS IS DISGUSTING AND COVID IS STILL OUT!!!!!🤮

So glad to have finally tried this place. This Soul food really took me back to my childhood. Mac and cheese was unbelievable, black eyed peas, the corn muffin, the sweet ribs! Even the corn was awesome! Im so full right now, but I cant wait to go again.

I was quite disappointed in my most recent meals purchased on Friday. The food taste was lacking. There were good portion sizes, however, as I stated the taste took away from desiring to eat any remaining food as leftovers.MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN!!!The woman that waited on me for pick up had a bit of an attitude.

The food was so good! I had he smothered pork chops, mac n cheese and candied yams. The yams were a bit too sweet for my taste but besides that its nice to find a good soul food spot in central Florida. Bonus: I have a nut allergy so Im happy they dont use peanut oil.

Pretty good. Not great though. Price was a bit high for the amount of food you get. I eat there again but it wouldnt be my first choice.

Mouth watering traditional southern soul food. The staff is super friendly and everything is home made. Angels is the best in sanford. Definitely worth a visit. Great lunch specials too.

I came across Angel’s by luck, but I will be back. This is soul food at its best. It was hard to choose, so I went for the dinner plate which allowed me to have 2-meats and 3-sides. I had the smothered pork chops and chicken with greens, yams m&c. Everything was on point. Whether you eat by taste or by texture this place has you covered. If the weather is right, eat outdoors.

I ordered through Uber Eats and it came nice hot and fresh. Really big portions. I got 3 meals out of this one dinner. The food was authentic. Greens were nice and tender. Just a bit on the sweeter side than I like but still really good. The pork chops were fall off the bone tender and the gravy was delicious. The mac and cheese was perfect as well. I will definitely be ordering from here again. Also the Punch was Yummy!

When you want soul food but dont want to go grocery shopping and cook...Delicious food and great customer service. We live in Apopka, FL but this was worth the drive.

The food was amazing. We got smothered pork chops and fried chicken. The flavors were on point. I was a little confused by the concept of buffet because it wasnt the mind where you take your plate up and serve yourself. They make a plate for you and there is no a la cart. The restaurant had what looked like party supplies being stored in a large portion of the dining room. The look of the place made it appear sketchy however once we tasted our food we didnt notice anything else. Thankfully I dont judge a book by its cover and I forced my friends to try it with me because of the reviews and I love soul food. Again the food was so delicious and seasoned perfectly. I would be back if we were closer.

Homey atmosphere. Excellent food! Made to order fish and fried chicken. The sides truly touched my soul. The service was very welcoming. So thankful to have found this outstanding place near us on our travels. I would highly recommend Angel’s
