Ismail Mahana Road أمام محطة مصرالسكة الحديدية، Kom Ad Dakah Gharb, Al Attarin, Egypt, Fuwwah
Archaeological site featuring the remains of an ancient Roman theater, baths & a villa with mosaics.
Nice place with 30 l.e ticket 🔥
Theater and baths as well as some ancient mosaics8/10
I love historical places
The lady at the ticket office doesnt know the government rules for foreigners who are married to an Egyptian. She sabotages Egypt tourism and leaves negative feedback to non-Egyptian visitors when they should feel like at home for being a wife to an Egyptian. We will never come back or recommend visiting the place.
Its really interesting to see classic Roman architecture in Egypt, and dont miss out on hearing your own amplified voice in the theatre! The site is fairly small, not much else to see beside the theatre and some exquisite tile work.
Very dirty and zero maintenance about this, trash everywhere including inside the the ruins. except for the amphitheater which is also the only thing worth seeing, it was kind of shocking. Overall not recommended wasting your money on this
A great ancient Roman site to visit while in Alexandria. Along with the catacombs it is a must see for tour to the city. Highly recommend a tour guide to drive you to these places as they are hidden among the city. Definitely worth driving from Cairo to see. We went during the late fall and the weather was beautiful like early spring.
Such a Wonderful visit! The place there really captures the essence of ancient Alexandria . The staff are friendly and the tickets are quite cheap as well for a place with such amount of history and well preserved monuments from the antiquity. The name is somewhat misleading, though indeed theres a very well preserved ancient Roman theatre there , however the 2500 years old complex provides WAY more than that , its an entire complex with baths, roads , pillars , ruins of lecture halls , houses and shops , some Byzantine mosaic art in the Villa of Birds .Theres also an open air museum, showing different statues from the different civilisations of ancient Egyptian history ; ancient Egyptian, Ptolemaic and Roman statues ! Theres also boards which really narrate the story of every statue and every area in the complex , I highly advise carefully reading them and immersing yourself in the history of the area as you walk through it , the place is really mesmerising and calm , away from the hustle of the never sleeping city of Alexandria, however -specially in summer - and like the rest of whole of Egypt haha, the sun can be really dazzling, so wear a cap and put on some sun screen , dont forget water and stay hydrated :. Its a wonderful experience youll absolutely enjoy .Another historical gem in the ancient city of Alexander The Great !
A very picturesque view of the city.Unfortunately, there are loads of rubbish around the place and many stray animals taking interest in you and your things.
Nice archilogical place ,you have to visit in Alexandria
A must-see site of Alexandria! Dating to 4th Century AD, including a section of downtown ancient Alexandria including a public bath, an auditarium study classes and a Roman villa dating to 2nd century AD with great mosaics called the Villa of The Birds.
Awesome place to visit as it is not just the Roman theater. It is about a complete city where there are baths, houses, and Mosaic craftwork reflecting the glorious Batlamic and Roman blend in the ancient Egyptian city Alexandria. Only problem is that there is no voice tour or printed map. Only the one hanging close to the entrance and there are explanation signs beside the monuments but I see they should put more.
One of the best place for tourists in AlexandriaA very beautiful place with rich history and amazing architecture, the site was once the city center of Alexandria during the Roman times and the whole site contains a theater, ruins of villas, houses, shops, public baths, mosaics, etc.., the whole place is very worthy to spend time in and get to know more about the rich history of Alexandria, i definitely recommend it.
I liked it too much but I needed a guide
Small but nice late Roman amphitheater, baths, villas and auditoria. Some good mosaics too.
A hidden gem in the middle of a busy area. This roman complex has more ruins and artifacts than I have seen at many other places. The white and red ruins look pretty nice. Entrance is not expensive. However, you need to research the place before you go. There is limited-to-no guides or explanations of what the items represent. Some areas are not well kept but overall it is in a good shape. The guards, police and employees were very professional.
A short visit is all that is needed.
One of the Romanian places in Alexandria where u can find a lot of antiques
My favorite place in AlexandriaIt’s reminds me of homeBut it’s need more care and securityCheap tickets
The Roman Amphitheatre, also known as the Roman Theatre, is located in Alexandrias centre district of Kom el-Dikka. The Roman Theatre is one of Alexandrias emblems, bordered on the north by Horrya Street, the west by Nabi Daniel Street, the south by Abdel Moneim Street, and the east by Saphia Zaghloul Street.Amphitheatres were vast and majestic structures that meant double theatre. Amphitheatres were open-air theatres with no stage curtains, usually built in a semi-circular shape.Although the Roman Theatre of Egypt is small in size and much of the construction is in ruins, it is nonetheless a remarkable ancient Egyptian monument from the Roman period. The theatre also has a number of badly constructed galleries.
A walk down hisstory lane dated 500 to 700AD
This place is authentic, majestic, and ancient. They have a technology without technology (Mic without micthat we are using right, you have to experience it to understand, when you go down in the middle of the amphitheater there is a small circle on the floor stand on it face the stairs and say anything (youll love what you hearrecommended place if you are doing a touristic tour in Alexandria or even if you are just visiting. Enjoy!
The Ancient Roman Theatre was a interesting historical site to see. The mosaic artwork was amazing to see.

A great place to visit that deserves much more attention..
Amazing Roman site for ancient roman down town remains and a Villa with mosaics. On access some deep sea rescued remains of ancient sunken royal area are placed mostly from Pharonic era
Amazing place—lots of interesting historical elements, including the theater, ancient bath houses, and ancient ruins of homes. Mosaic tile floors are so beautiful!
Cool place to check out. See the old Roman theater and the old cisterns. There is also a display at the end of old flooring made of mosaic and some other brick work.
The Roman theater in Alexandria in Kom El-Dikka is one of the monuments of the Roman era. It was built at the beginning of the fourth century AD, and it is the only Roman theater in Egypt. This building was discovered by chance while removing dirt for pulp
Now this was such a unique experience in every way. Brilliant History 👏, Do yourself a favor and go see it for yourself.
Nice place with a lot of history in there.. needed to be clean.
The Ancient Roman Theater is located inside the Kom el Dikka gate which is an old wealthy Roman neighborhood long ago. The most intact portion however is the amphitheater. You can also walk toward the villa of the birds to see pretty mosaic tiles. It is enclosed in a building to preserve it longer. Opening hours during Covid time is 10am though.
Another nice little day trip. Enjoyed the roasted corn from the stall nearby too. Wonderful memories.
Lovely Amphitheater in the middle of Alexandria City. The visit took us about 30 minutes and its set up as a small tour. We hadnt a Tour guide, there are English explanations at each "spot"
Really shows the true metal of Alexandria as a city of art, science, & prosperity throughout history
One of my all time favourite places in the world. Leaving it is always like leaving a whole era and coming back to the now. Great place to leave the world with its all problems and burdens and living in the now.

The roman Amphitheater complex contains a small amphitheater and the remains of a university, shops and a residential complex with water reservoirs. It contains the remarkable villa of birds with its iconic mosaic floors.
historical place.nice.need more carefull preservation.entry fee 80 egyptian pound per person.
Awesome. 80 pounds for an adult ticket. Lots to see and some good descriptions to read. Great photo opportunities. Best time to come is around 2pm as the sun is going down. Friendly staff.
The place is in ruins due to multiple earth quakessmall part of the amphitheatre still remainsworth a visit
Not too much to explore, not any real guides or things to keep your interest. Dont go on a hot day or you will definitely get burned. All in all really cool to see, especially of youre into theatre history.
Theres a focal point in the theater (you can see it on the ground), once you stand on it the whole audio environment changes, as though you have been put inside some enclosed facility. Sounds become curved your way :-very peculiar experience.Otherwise, a mix of Greek and Roman stuff, preserved in pretty good shape. Most probably, some university or something
This is one of my ultimate favorite spots. Its extremely beautiful and you can go there for a quiet scenic walk. My favorite thing to do is grab brunch and snack on the stepped seats in front of the theater. Dont miss it.
Just love the history .... Dont forget to get your ticket for the Bird Villa within the site at the entrance
The place is fantastic in so many ways. It’s really easy to get a feel for what the old layout was like, there are buildings from an impressively long period from Roman history and much is well preserved. As with many sites in Egypt, there is not enough information about the site and we were glad to have a guide. We were also disappointed to see tourists climbing over bits they shouldn’t, potentially ruining them for future generations, without being challenged.
Its a beautiful place, Not as I expect that the theatre was small. There is more places there for birds villa, houses, halls and bathrooms for people in this age.I didnt see any visitors there.Bring your hat. There are coldair and bathroom there if you need.
Two stars because it isn’t a complete waste. Not much to see here, though. A visit probably isn’t worth the admission price. You’ll get 1/2 hour at best. If you’ve seen other Roman ruins you’ll be thoroughly underwhelmed.
It has beautiful ancient architecture, very nice place. Inter-nation visitor’s entrance fee is EGP 80
If you sing or talk loud near the stadium area you will find your voice echo. This was how they used to talk in social gathering and government talks, this was also a place where the Greeks would perform skits and plays
