Popped into this place having spotted it on my way to a hotel on a business trip, Great beer, excellent locals, I learned loads about the south coast music scene. Wish I had had more time. Just watch out for the dried scorpion!

Absurdly tiny yet cunningly outfitted bar within sight of the sea, serving nothing but Sussex beers and wines, with owners and regulars who are down-to-earth but happy to chat to strangers.

I rarely write reviews, but feel compelled to here. I stumbled across this place with two friends - wed intended to go to a pub around the corner but the football was on and there was no chance of catching up and having a chat. So, we wandered around and happened upon this place. It was busy and we poked our heads inside and said, a bit busy, well try somewhere else and then the strangest thing happened. Everyone inside said come in! and they rearranged themselves so we could have a table. I have never been to a pub where the occupants actually encourage me to come in - it was really friendly, the owners (I assume they were the ownerswere brilliant, giving one of my friends a sample of a beer the was interested in. On this experience I will definitely be going back many times - it will be my local away from home. And I dont even drink.

Fabulous, tiny micro pub along West Buildings just down from the seafront. Low ceilinged, tall tables and benches facing each other positively encourage conversation. The walls and ceiling are adorned with all types of paraphernalia and hundreds of pump clips, all of which have apparently been served here. There was a choice of three cask ales and four ciders, all of which are dispensed in the back room meaning there is no bar as such. Warm and cosy, dog friendy and Nigel the owner was only too pleased to chat for ten minutes. My wife and daughter in law had a medium sized glass of wine each, I had a pint, this came to a rather frightening ยฃ17.80, making the wine about seven quid a glass. The place calls time at 9pm with chucking out time half an hour later. Well worth a visit but if you drink wine, go prepared.

Real ale drinkers paradise specialising in Sussex ales, ciders and now gin. Pub is intimate and therein lies its charm. It wont be to everyones taste for sure but youd never be able to fault the welcome or the ales the rest is up to you. NB: unlike the attitude of the 1 star reviewer below Ive never known this pub or its patrons to stink.

A quirky micropub sourcing ale, cider and perry, from local sources. So too with wine, vermouth and gin.It opens at midday and closes at 9:30 pm on weekdays ( not mondayand saturdays and 12 to 5 pm on Sundays.Nigel takes good care of the casks and barrels and the relaxed atmosphere is a home to conversation. There is no tv, slot machine or juke box.Reasonably priced, well worth a visit when in Worthing.

Fantastic micropub, and it is very small, where conversation is unavoidable and all the better for it. Three well kept real ales and, at least while I was there, two real ciders and a Perry. A must visit pub for any lover of great pubs.

This is nearly the smallest pub i have ever been in...almost! It is tiny a one roomed pub without a bar but has a back wall stuffed with books, magazines and other parathenalia!. You go in (i missed it walked past and had to double takethe landlord greets you and you order. The drink is brought to you from the back room then you enjoy!. How simple is that! What makes AinW so great is that the beer and cider choice is excellent and in good quality where you can not avoid partaking in conversation with the other drinkers. However, the stars here are the landlord/landlady who exude an enthusiasm for their pub and what they do it is infectious. Such lovely people. Folk of Worthing you are lucky to have such a gem of a micropub in your town.

Had a few pints in this fabulous little bar last year before a Half Man Half Biscuit gig in town. The landlady, although busy and rushed off her feet, was charming and very welcoming, as were our fellow drinkers. Only downside is its about 50 miles from home. Will definitely return soon.

A micro pub with a changing selection of local beers. Spartan seating and a little cluttered with junk which I suppose is there to add charm. Toilet could do with an upgrade. However, the beer is well kept and very reasonably priced and the landlord is friendly. Very much a place for the older real ale drinker.

Called in last week while on holiday at the South Coast. I tend to only drink in micro pubs ( my usual is the Kings Ditch in Tamworth). The Anchored and Nigel came well up to expectations. If you are in the area and like GOOD ale, call in you will not be disappointed.

A great micro pub. You might go in on your own but withing a few minutes you will be chatting to all the other customers while enjoying real ales, ciders and wines from micro breweries in Sussex. Also a nice little selection of local cheeses to go with your drinks. Give it a visit and you wont be disappointed.

Quaint, social, fun. Dont go here if you want to get drunk, this is a place to sit down, have a few pints, have a chat and maybe make some new friends. There are around 3 ales, a cider and a perry, constantly available, and these rotate (and are always localso you may never drink the same thing twice, but thats half the fun!
