Housed in a former 19th-century rectory, this refined country-style B&B is a 10-minute walk from the US Consulate Belfast and 2 miles from the city centre. The traditionally furnished rooms have private bathrooms (most en suite), plus flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffeemaking equipment. Family rooms add sofabeds. There's gourmet cooked-to-order breakfast, plus evening meals for an extra fee. Other amenities include a period-style lounge with a computer for guest use, a garden and complimentary off-street parking.
Lovely B&B with very clean and tidy rooms together with lovely homemade breakfast items.
We were not disappointed. The house is very cosy and comfortable and the breakfast every morning was freshly cooked to order and could not be faulted. Even home made yoghurt and marmalade. Gerry is a talented chef and also gave us some very useful tips for sightseeing in Belfast.
Could not have been more perfect. The host, Gerry is a total gem! Brilliant historic structure. Loved the sitting room and fireplace. Over the top and delicious made-to-order breakfast every morning. The place was cozy, yet spotlessly clean. So warm and hospitable. Gerry helped me plan out my adventures, and gave me lots of tips, ideas, and helpful hints along the way. Beautiful, upscale neighborhood. Got a room with a lovely bathtub! Large room, adorable bathroom, and bed was so comfortable, I slept like a baby. Gorgeous views out my windows. An Old Rectory epitomizes my vision of Irish charm. Bus going into the city center is just across the street and the bus coming back drops you off right at the driveway! So convenient! Anyone going to Belfast or the surrounding areas should book a room here! Loved every minute of my stay! Thank you for making my stay in Northern Ireland such a special one, Gerry!
Stopped at this lovely b&b Oct 2019 with my daughter while visiting the US Embassy. Lovely warm welcome, room was good size and very clean. The vegitarian breakfast was the best. Staff were excellent
I had an excellent experience with friendly helpful staff from my staying...
The Old Rectory is a beautiful and peaceful bed and breakfast. I’ve stayed here twice now because the service and comfort are excellent value for money.
The environment is quiet. Very good for taking a retreat to think or cool off. Inside the guest house is clean and nice. Very good for a small budget. The staff are nice, especially the receptionist. Breakfast is great too.
What an absolutely stunning guesthouse. The whole process from the intial enquiry right through to check out was simple & efficient. Very handily locatated on a main thoroughfare of Belfast, so easy to get around using the guesthouse as a base. The guest house owner, Gerry, cooks the breakfast himself, so you know the locally sourced food will be delicious. The only drawback is the menu is so extensive it will take you a while to read through (I recommend the baked eggs on ham!). The rooms were large, yet cosy- the perfect place to relax after a hard day sight seeing. If staying in Belfast, don’t look further than here.
Very nice, clean. Breakfast fantastic. If ever in Belfast I would strongly recommend this for a stay.
Nice And cozy, luxurious with delicious breakfast.A must-go place
Very nice guest house, friendly host, surprisingly nice breakfast, first time to see duck on a guest houses breakfast menu!
Aine made us most welcome. Breakfast was "to die for". Lovely touch as we got ready for a wedding when she produced prosecco and glasses. Very thoughtful. Thank you Aine.I would also say Aine dont book the B&B we take about in Castle Bellingham.Seamus
This is the best combination of professional innkeeping and genuine warmth. Lovely and comfortable rooms, exemplary food and a family committed to welcoming people. Ideal location for business or vacation visits too.
I cannot praise this wonderful bed and breakfast highly enough 100 stars would be nearer the mark. From our arrival our host was extremely kind and helpful nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are really cosy and beautifully clean with everything you need for your stay. The breakfast is divine do yourself a favour try everything on the menu if you can you won’t be disappointed. I recommend the Baked eggs. All the ingredients are locally sourced and fresh.A little way out of the city but the bus service is very regular and a taxi not too expensive.I look forward to my next visit.
Fantastic hotel, super convenient if youre visiting the US embassy as its so close and the people at The Old Rectory are so nice, really welcoming and warm.Loved breakfast, the food was amazing, freshly cooked and they tailored it to what I specifically wanted. Would definitely visit again if Im in Belfast
We visit here once a month for work and can highly recommend. Excellent breakfasts and lovely people.
Wonderful - everything is superb x
Everything you could ask for in a guest house! Great welcome, spacious well appointed room, really comfortable bed, michelin style food, and the attention to detail that marks a genuine care for guests. First class!
What an awesome place! Loved the building, amazing food (smoked salmon!), and wonderful hosts! Highly recommend staying here if you are ever in Belfast. :)
Beautiful place to stay, with wonderful hosts. Nice rooms and delicious food. Handy to lots of place in and near to Belfast. With a car park.
Excellent breakfast. Beautifully decorated rooms. All spotlessly clean. Well placed in leafy Edwardian suburb of Belfast with off street parking,
Run past it every day !!
Fantastic guest house run by a friendly local family. Really amazing food and decor. Highly recommend!
Great location near downtown Belfast. The house is located on a busy street so you will hear some road noise even with the Windows closed. It was nice that each room had its own bath room which isnt the case in many b&bs. The bedroom we stayed in was good sized. There were a ton of rooms and we were all the way on the third floor.Check-in was a breeze and the male owner provided us with dinner locations near where we were headed out to that night.Breakfast was quite good and there were a number of meals to choose from plus and assortment of other items provided in addition to the meal you chose (i.e. yogurt and granola).Overall a great experience.
This place is a one off b&b. On arrival we were given a room with a 2 seater sofa, wide screen t.v, two massive big windows and a lovely bathroom. The breakfast menu I had to take to my room as there was soo much on it. From frys, pancakes, duck and loads of vegetarian options. Bed linen is the warm cosy cotton sheets from years gone by u just cant find anymore. On arrival for breakfast we had fresh squeezed orange juice and hot fresh selection of breads just out of the oven. This place is no ordinary b&b. To town there is a bus stop nearby and costs roughly £5 in taxi. Much credit to owners.
On arriving in Belfast for the funeral of our dear auntie, we arrived at " The Old Rectory" to a very warm welcome from Mary and her lovely family. Accommadation spotless clean with beautiful Decor: Lots of choice for breakfast with fresh produce. As we where leaving for the funeral I noticed the hem of my skirt had come on done and ask Mary for a needle and cotton so I could mend it, Mary was amazing, she very kindly stitched it back in place to save time as the taxie was waiting to take us to the funeral. Thank you again Mary, you where fantastic! Hope to stay with you again.
We landed in Belfast on Marys doorstep and felt immediately at home. After a warm welcome we settled into our comfortable, spacious room with large windows, delightful bathroom and sleep-inducing beds. All the amenities were taken care of and we loved the location. Close enough to walk into Belfast if you wish or take the bus with stops just outside the door. The rectory is a wonderful old place and is full of character. Our breakfast each day was delicious and hot! We really felt like friends instead of guests. Mary was most helpful with tourist information and was so personable. We will stay again on our next visit!
Yes its a B&B which comes with all a B&B entails, but this just seemed too oldie-worldy for me.It started with the bedroom which seemed made up by an Aunt who had passed recently. It was ok, it certainly wasnt bad and I slept fine, I just didnt really feel comfortable there. I was in one of the rooms that did not have an en suite bathroom so was given a key to my own down the corridor. The bathroom was lovely! The location isnt so great to be honest, its just in a suburban street but certainly manageable with a single bus into the town centre and to be fair they are clear about that on their site.I was perhaps most disappointed in the food. The site hypes this up and I was really looking forward to breakfast, but when it arrived, it was the worst kind of British Breakfast, floating in oil, so heavy, I just couldnt finish it. A shame. I stuck with pancakes for the following days knowing it wouldnt be in oil and to be fair, it was nice. The owners seem nice enough, if a little matched to the feeling of the room I mentioned earlier. Matrical might be the feel Im attempting to describe.Lastly, whilst I was there, Northern Ireland experienced some of the worst March weather in ages (March 2013and we all went through some extreme weather. This included such heavy snow that powercuts were experienced in the Guest House. The owners were great about this, calm and produced torches for guests and as the weather was so bad, hot water bottles came out for all! My onward transport was disrupted for the final night so I had to leave in the middle of the night. They were able to suggest a taxi company for me but most nicely of all, they insisted upon making me up a breakfast that I would still be able to eat in the middle of the night when I awoke. Sure enough, when I woke in the middle of the night, outside my door had been left the breakfast and snacks for the journey. Very nice of them.I just wouldnt really want to stay here again. Sorry!**The problem with B&Bs, it feels personal!
I needed somewhere to stay while applying for a visa at the US Embassy around the corner, and the Old Refectory was not only well-located but the accommodation, and service was excellent. I would recommend staying here.
