Modest museum showcasing the history of the tulip, photos & a gift shop with bulbs for sale.
Really great place, loved it !it was much more interesting that what I thought, and the shop is really nice with great advices from the staff, for everyone, based on ones purchases!
We totally enjoyed this museum. Everything about it ......very clean wonderful place to spend taking in the sights.
Lovely place with beautiful rare flowers and very friendly and helpful staff. The museum was a fun addition!
Kindly personal. Good choice. I can just recommend.
We discovered that whilst we really like tulips, we werent a massive fan of reading and watching information videos on them, especially when a lot of information feels repeated. The shop is lovely and well stocked with tulips bulbs and pottery
Small but very cute. Only 3 euros makes this easily worth it in my opinion. Very interesting and the set up is very beautiful. A nice little stop while you tour Amsterdam. We had the area to ourselves for our walk through and didn’t have to wait in any lines.
Small but interesting and lovely!! Very kind reception and surprisingly they had a Portuguese flyer!!
Very nice museum, you can purchase a lot of items at the shop and entry dees are very affordable.
This museum is super informative, really nicely decorated and done. It was a very pleasant surprise and I certainly would recommend it for everyone that comes to Amsterdam. There was only one problem, which is that they don’t have a toilet.
This is a small but a great place where you can learn about the history behind Dutch tulips. I learned a lot! The shop is fab for garden lovers and not only!
Very informative and well worth the entrance price. Lovely gift shop.
Excellent small museum teaching you everything you always wanted to know about the history and culture of tulips and more. If you have any interest at all in these beautiful flowers and the role they have played in history you wont be disappointed.
We didnt take the tour but they have a lovely gift shop that make for great souvenirs!
Wonderful museum, inclusive of literally everything about tulips history, present and future. Beautiful souvenir shop! Really friendly staff.
Was expecting more from a tulip museum in a country known for their tulips but the shop was massive!it was really informative and a nice little movie at the end.
A true gem in the heart of Amsterdam. Sure, you can buy tulip bulbs at the local souvenir shop for a touch less, but you definitely wont get the same knowledge or education. Beyond the beauty of the shop, the people that worked there really knew their stuff. They had an entire selection for people traveling back to North America that was inspected and certified so you didnt have to worry about getting your flowers confiscated. A piece of mind during already stressful travel time. 12/10 recommend!
Brilliant place, lots to read so if the history and development of tulips is of interest to you, please reserve more than an hour. The museum was opened until 9pm (21:00so still good to visit after big places are closed for the day. You can also purchase lots of different kind of tulips and tulip themed items.
Nice place 🌷❤️
A small museum that captures history of Tulips. 10-15 mins is enough to tour the entire museum. Their shop is very good and attracts a lot of people who come to pick Tulip bulbs and Tulip related souvenirs/gifts/products.Its right by the canals. Visit the shop is well worth it, even if you aint interested in the museum.
Nice place to bring kids and discover more about the history of tulips. Unfortunately there wasn’t much real tulips available to see and I thinks is due to current season.
Little and very interesting museum. In 15 minutes you can learn everything about tulip and Hymalaya! Are you couroius?
6 rooms + one with short film all focused on educating us on the topic of tulips. We learned a lot. Nicely sized gift shop right at the entrance.
Good informational but very small museum with very little to no interaction. Volume of videos were too low and nothing interesting for kids. Probably good for gardening/tulip fans - otherwise I would recommend skipping it.
This place brought me so much joy. So fun learning about the origin and harvesting of tulips in Holland. A must see for any tourist.
Very arrogant cashier and sales lady.. didn’t understand English .. will not recommend to visit.. Instead you can visit Bloemenmarkt, who is so famous for tulip flowers, seeds, Bonsai etc
This museum was wonderful. costs €5 and takes about half an hour. Very informational and pretty to look at.
First expression was “oh that’s it?!” but then I walked in the back where I could buy a ticket for just a few €s so I could go down the stairs and walked around in the basement. Many interesting information about the tulips’ history, how tulips came to the Netherlands and many more, from the beginning to present time.
🌷
Sooo it wasnt what i was expected... Most of it its to buy seeds and stuff if you want...Also they have Souvenirs as well all kind of them with tulips...At the back of the store they have a cinema room where you pay a ticket and you can watch a documentary about the Tulip History. :)
Lots of interesting bulbs and tulip-themed souvenirs. Tulips only available at specific times of year - bulbs in autumn apparently.
For the entry price (5€ if I remember correctlyits worth it! If it had been more expensive I would have given less stars, but the museum is small yet pretty complete. If you have 5€ to spend, its not a bad way to spend an hour.
Lovely informative expierience for a low price. Highly recomanded to check out!
Museum more interesting than expected - take time to watch the historic films to contrast with todays mechanised bulb production! Some very attractive gifts but prices on high side.
Pretty small place with heartwarming collection of tulips.
Amazing museum about the tulips, the owner is very passionate about the flowers and knows everything about them! His advices are very good. The museum is small, you can visit it in one hour max.I highly recommend It for tulip lovers!
My wife and I visited on March 26 2022. There was no wait and tickets were inexpensive. Im not usually a huge fan of museums, but I found the Tulip Museum to be surprisingly informative and interesting! Who knew Tulipmania was a thing?! Its also a concise experience, taking 30-45 minutes. Definitely recommended!
Very interesting museum. The staff was really kind and helpful. I loved the souvenir shop, the prices were reasonable, and the souvenirs were very special and beautiful. But theres something I would change. I would love to see a lot of fresh tulips in the museum, something that didnt happen.
A wonderful journey through the history and biology of tulips. The relatively small space houses a lot of information, presented in a very friendly and accessible way. I didnt care much for tulips, but that has changed a bit.
Shop is really cute with a large choice of flowers. They ask you where you come from to plant them.
Situated next to the Amsterdam Cheese Museum on Prinsengracht, Amsterdam Tulip Museum is just a few minutes walk from the Cow Museum and Anne Frank House. Its worthwhile planning a visit to all, or any combination of these museums, due to their proximity, for a fun, educational and cultural day out.Part of the lily family and native to Central Asia, tulips only became popular once these arrived in The Netherlands. There are more than 150 species of tulips in more than 3,000 varieties.Every year, Dutch growers plant more than 7 million bulbs by hand at the Keukenhof Flower Gardens, which attract visitors from all over the world. The song "Tulips from Amsterdam" by the late, great Max Bygraves, was a global success firmly creating the association between the city and these spectacular flowers.During the first half of the 17th century, the was a period of "Tulip mania" in the Netherlands.Bulbs were worth considerably more than their weight in gold, with single bulbs exchanging hands for the equivalent price of a nice house. You can learn more about these and many other fascinating facts at an audio visual presentation in the museum, which is situated at the rear of a shop selling bulbs, postcards and souvenirs. The entrance is adorned with a beautiful display of tulips in bloom
Really friendly staff, and the museum was good value for money, at 5 euros for 6 rooms, including several videos including a very entertaining "Tulip Song!" I loved learning all about Tulipmania in particular.
The Amsterdam Tulip Museum is a nice little museum charting the history of tulips in Netherlands. Te story begins with tulips originated in Central Asia (I didnt know that!), how it got to Europe, the Tulip-mania in Netherlands, paraphernalia around tulips and cultivation of the flower. Theres also a fun headset showing an augmented reality video of a tulip field. The museum isnt really than big and you could probably get through it in 30 minutes. The information is good, exhibits interesting and fun to look at, and professionally present. Overall, I was expecting a bit more information especially something more in depth about the mania, but at €5 for the entrance, it was reasonable. Not quite on the level of Rijkmuseum or Van Gogh Museum, but fine if you got several days in Amsterdam. The shop is fantastic though, I got a lot of orders for the shop from friends and family!
Stop in to the Tulip Museum! Honestly, this was the cutest find in Amsterdam and I bought so many souvenirs for myself and friends from here!! I love floral and flowers, so I am biased, but go here and see some color and learn some interesting history!
This place is cute and a fun stop if you like tulips, but not a must see. You learn about the history and the importance of tulips in the Netherlands.
The Tulip Museum is located along Prinsengracht just across the canal from Anne Franks House. This is an interesting place to visit if you want to learn about the Dutch love for tulips. Opening Hours are 10am to 6pm daily. The museum (€5 per adultis located in the basement and is partitioned into six small rooms which describe the origin of tulips in Central Asia, how they arrived in Europe by way of gifts from the Ottoman Empire, which interestingly fell in love with tulips even before Holland and the rest of Europe. You will learn about the famous tulip mania and the ensuing market crash in 1637 and how tulip industries developed during ensuing centuries. There are two good films to watch during your museum visit, which in total can be comfortably done in 20-30 minutes. Overall, it is an interesting experience learning about tulips and why the Netherlands is mad for this flowering plant.Note, the ground floor entrance to the Tulip Museum is a shop with all manner of tulip bulbs and related gifts which you can purchase. You can enter and shop here regardless if you are interested in seeing the museum rooms or not.
An interesting museum that goes over how the Netherlands became such a large grower of tulips, as well as some of the intricacies behind farming them. The museum itself takes around 30 minutes, and is quite interactive. Theres a variety of multimedia displays, including videos, models, and dioramas. The museum is also a store where you can buy tulip bulbs and a variety of other souvenir type items.
Cute museum with a lovely shop in the front. They have some of the best prices for wooden tulips! Staff are very friendly as well :)
Fairly boring. The problem with it is that for a museum it has no artifacts, only information to be rad on posted cards while looking at picture reproductions. Calling a tulip souvenir shop a museum does not make it a museum.Fortunately if you have the IAmsterdam card the museum is free. Plus, as its right across the canal from the Anne Frank house, you probably arent going out of your way to see it.I will say this, one of the displays had a problem with what right and left was (see picswhich I thought charming.
Very small but very cute... you can get enough information about the flower. The shop is extremely expensive but the variety of tulips is big.
A nice small place which is all about tulips. There is a shop part and a museum part which we didn’t visit. But it was interesting to wonder around the shop and see the pictures of different kinds of tulips. I bought tulips seeds from there and they gave me the directions how to plant it in my home country. Worth visiting if you are walking around the Jordan district in Ams!
