Unfortunately a disappointing visit. The manager was too busy to address our complaint at the table.More than happy to discuss if you require..
A good pub, nice experience, parking, good food drink dogs welcome
Fine to pop in for a beer or 2 i would not eat there & outside was very dirty glasses left out over spill ash trays Toilets not clean .
It slayed as a place it was a really slay place with a slay staff who slay at what they do. The kitchen staff slayed and slayed the place. The slaying staff made me feel like I could slay with my slay alcoholic beverage. Kadoosh slayed particularly
While the (separatebar area was steady, the restaurant was very quiet at 5pm on a term time Wednesday (there are tables outside, but being wimps, we decided it was too cold!). The restaurant area is spacious, the tables both sturdy and large enough to accommodate four comfortably. Our visit being quiet at a quiet time of day turned out to be no reflection on the food.As we left, other diners began showing up, as it was then approaching 6pm. Id previously heard Sunday Roasts can get busy, so maybe ring and reserve a table?Music was playing at a nicely unobtrusive level. Put it this way, well be going back to sample more from a very respectable menu. The facilities were clean and very presentable, although the restaurant does have a step between service area and loos (I did note a disabled washroom, but neglected to note which side of the step it was .... sorry). My friend, ever adventurous, sampled a home made cheese and bacon burger, which due to eyes being bigger than stomach included the optional extra pattie. He was most complimentary about this very substantial burger! The missing star is due to the accompanying fries being the American string fries, rather than the chunky chips shown on the menu. No complaints about their quality though.I opted for the slow roasted shank of lamb, with mash, gravy and seasonal veg and was glad I did. The lamb was melt in the mouth delicious and the veg cooked perfectly. The portion of lamb was generous and made for a lovely meal.Cant review the desserts .... at a hundred calories a glance, as much as Id like to, I darent, especially the crumbles. I did notice the menu offered a portion containing a bit of pretty much everything on the sweet dish list, for the price of one regular dessert. This isnt Michelin Star stuff, but it doesnt pretend to be and Id rate the food at the Amsterdam as very good value for money. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. All in all, we left very happy.
Best selection of gins! (It’s a dream for someone who likes gin, they’ve got one for every mood). Extra lovely staff- especially Beth who always goes the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect and everyone is happy:A big thank you to the Amsterdam team x
Lovely pub, with a brilliant bunch of staff who are kind and compassionate, always looking to go the extra mile. I cannot wait to return!
What a lovely pup with a great atmosphere, supper dog friendly & the staff go the extra mile to help and are very friendly too! Definitely be coming back very soon !
Excellent food and service. One very big disappointment was that there is no ramp for wheelchairs. Our friend is disabled so we had to sit outside. We thought it was a requirement to have disabled access.
Such a lovely pub! All the staff are very friendly, especially Ella she is always willing to help! What a lovely bunch! Keep up the good work! X
Well start with the positive staff were very friendly , service goodWent for a Sunday roast at 18:00 after a dog walk !Roast was very low par , meat was ok roasties were nice and that was it ! Ordered pork which came with crispy crackling the menu said , what we got was pork scratchings from a packet ! Not acceptable ! Yorkshires were cold ! Side order of cauliflower cheese was inedible like glue! Spoke with a lovely waitress who apologised and said she would talk with her manager fair enough ! As this kind of food was not acceptable ! feedback given ! Then ordered two chocolate fudge cakes for children ! Had to take one back as it contained rosemary !!!!!!!It’s a shame as it’s a lovely pub but the food was unbelievably bad and they are going to lose custom due to this ! Please make some changes as it would be a shame to lose such a great venue !
Great food, friendly staff, super atmosphere. Really dog friendly too, great place for a luncheon stop off when enjoying a Riverside walk
Really good food and good prices too! Would recommend
Food was excellent and slightly slow service but overall experience was great
Just had a very pleasant meal.Very welcoming , friendly staff, good value. Will be returning in the near future. Harvey, Max and Cloe made us very welcome and took good care of us.Highly recommend even for those on a budget.
Very nice, large, olde world pub, gardens and tables all with a modern twist. Staff were attentive and friendly. Very good menu. On the list to go back to.
Service at the bar slow even though there was only three customers in. We waited for five minutes before any staff showed themselves... Food expensive for what it was. They had also run out of baps for burgers which is surprising. Wouldnt go back to be honest.
Nice meal, cool dining area on a hot day, just a shame the window was open ( which neednt have been, ie air con onand was letting the flies in, which were annoying, when eating, would have stopped for dessert, but flies put us off.
Always lovely bar staff in here and great pub food :)
Ambience excellent, cozy restaurant and bar. Nice Guinness and wine, reasonable price. Service friendly when someone eventually appears. Steak nice although a shade chewy. Chips and onion rings nice. Sausage and mash average. Good value for fixed price menu.Good fish cakes, steak still a bit chewy, nice pint of Harveys real ale and Pimms. Good service, friendly staff.
Everybody so pleasant and helpfull even on a really hot day and after a long shift...landlady is a stunna.many thanks.
Me and my partner came back to the Amsterdam Pub after 3 years and we were pleased to find the same great service and amazing food as always. We had a really good night, the food was really tasty and arrived promptlyStaff is welcoming and professional. There was an annoying and rude customer but the team managed the situation in an amazing way!!Highly recommend
A lovely dog friendly pub with treats on the bar.Nice varied menu. Great service. Great value for money. Will definitely be returning.
Great service and bar staff very friendly. Good roast dinner on a Sunday.
Great pub with friendly staff , the place to go for sports , pool & darts so nice sitting out side on a sunny day, Chloe is very friendly & welcoming.
I really enjoyed my meal here with a big family. we all did! I had the roast turkey which was very nice. The staff were very friendly. Dont know his name but our waiter was v good (young guyhe was quite rushed off his feet but very attentive. I loved my martini cocktail too it was delicious. And I did like my Eton mess but it could of had a bit more effort put into it slightly. but still I left there very full and content. Will definitely return. many thanks
A bit disappointed today. Food was ok when we got it . We waited 10 minutes for someone to speak to us saying Im so busy you you need to go to the bar to order.(maybe put a sign up for us to know this)although a member of staff walked past us a couple oftimes. I then went to the bar to order my food but had to wait until the barstaff had a chat to her friend . The staff didnt seem to want to come to the restaurant side.We felt a bit of any inconvenience to them to be honest.Such a shame as my last visit was ok .
I went to the Amsterdam pub for food with friends had a really nice time.the atmosphere was great lovely staff efficient and friendly. Could not fault the food was tasty and very much enjoyable evening. Thanks for great time. We will see you again soon .
OK, I will start off by saying that I have eaten several times here and really enjoyed it. Yesterday, Mothers Day, was different. Unfortunately, the pub seemed to be short staffed, which led to an hour and 10 minute wait for 2 starters - which were delicious - and another 20 minutes on top of that for the mains. We were a party of 8...the burgers and roast turkey were all lovely and highly praised, however the rump steak trimmings left a lot to be desired, with a small handful of fries, 2 onion rings, 2 halves of a small tomato and some mushrooms. Steak itself was fine. The beef bourginon, rib eye and braised rib of beef had all sold out, and there was only Doom Bar (theres always Doom Bar!and Timothy Taylor left for ale.Ordered 4 desserts, which came out in good time, and again, were fine, but the apple crumble a little bland.I really dont ever complain, having worked in catering for a very long time, but I did actually say something and my complaint was handed beautifully by the person who had taken our initial drinks order (name begins with B!)Overall, the menu would have been good value for money if the portions were a bit more generous. Low score is more for the long wait..the pub didnt feel heaving, although I appreciate thats difficult for the customer to gauge. Will return - all pubs have the occasional off day, and Ive had good experiences here before. Would suggest a bit more organisation. We had no table follow up whilst we were eating, nor an apology for the long wait until I complained. But again, every pub has an off day now and then.Give this pub a chance. Location and style of the Amsterdam are both very good.
Not a very good experience, we had to wait for our reserved table. The meal was OK but not brilliant as it wasnt freshly cooked, it tasted as though it had been frozen, but worst of all was the extortionate price of my glass of wine 🍷 it was £8.40 per glass so almost £17 for the two glasses we had!!!! We should have bought a bottle that would have worked out cheaper!!! It was far more expensive than a top restaurant price in Worthing lll😣😣😣
Undoubtedly the greatest pub in Shoreham, everything from the cleanliness of the pub, great value food. Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. And fantastic management. Would highly highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Just really poor!Waited well over an hour for food. Sweetcorn looked like it had been under a heat lamp for a week. Burger patty was foldable, roasts were below average, missing Yorkshire puddings and everything served without a hint of seasoning. Despite sending dishes back, asking for desserts to be cancelled and chasing food on two occasions, not one apology or acknowledgement of an issue.
We stopped by the Amsterdam Inn the other day whilst it was sunny and I sat in the garden with my family. I ordered via the app and the staff and service was really efficient. When we went in for more drinks we were served by Becca who was really friendly and professional. The prices for food and drink are both really reasonable, combine that with the nice scenic location we will definitely be returning
Was friendly when we came for a quick drink on at Patricks Day.Came on my own with the kids and food was so basic and bland and the service was just so slowThe kids ice-cream which was just two scoops of ice-cream 40 minutes after reminding them
Always a great place to stop for a pint and bite after a walk. The staff are friendly and weve never had to wait very long for our order to arrive. The only reason it gets four stars is that the food is average, nothing wrong with it at all, but nothing to rave about either.
My husband and I had a wonderful meal on Valentines Day. We had the three course menu. It was delicious! Lovely, friendly staff. Food was hot and well presented. Will definately go again. 🏆🏆🏆🏆
We had a lovely visit to The Amsterdam Inn, Shoreham. Great service, all staff were friendly, helpful, attentive. The manageress was on hand to help with things, really looked after us. We had a roast dinner each and it was absolutely amazing! Lamb falling off the bone, beef was to delicious, the potatoes were perfect, the veg was great, perfect amount of gravy too! All round, great food, great selection of drinks, great pub! We will be back!
A warm & cosy pub.. perfect place to enjoy a decent pint on a cold winters eve.Really friendly bar staff & locals 😁🍺Their food menu looks good and they have veggie & vegan options. Will definitely return to eat🍴🍻
Went here for a roast after a lovely walk along shoreham river. Friendly staff and plenty of space to find a table, dog friendly. The roast was a little average though so not sure we would go back for that but great spot for a drink.
We went for Sunday dinner here and it was delicious. Me and the Mrs had the triple roast. Pork, turkey and beef sirloin. Everything on the plate was cooked perfectly, the gravy was decent too. Defo recommend here and we will be back
Pleasantly surprised when we can here. I thought the Red Lion over the road was the place to go but it was packed and we couldnt get a table. Came into the Amsterdam and its lovely. Really well done out inside and the staff are really friendly. Food was very nice. Had a burger and chips with taste above average Id say. Defo coming back as we now live locally.
I took my Mum for lunch, she had fish pie which should never have been served. It was barely warm, some of the fish (there wasnt much fishwasnt cooked and the creamy leek sauce was like milk. The mashed potato was very dry and appeared to be powdery and the peas were almost cold. I have given 3 stars and not 2 because my fishcakes and salad were worth 4 stars, they were very nice. The staff were very nice too.
Appalling. Pub was basically empty yet we waited 50mins for our food which was then delivered wrong. Waited even longer for the correct items to come out. Vegetables were cold, Potatoes completely inedible, like rocks and needed a hammer to get into. "Unlimited Yorkshire puddings" theyd run out off. Manager was kind enough and gave us a refund for the food. However the whole experience felt chaotic and disappointing.
Great pub, great atmosphere, very tasty food for affordable prices. Staff were very helpful and friendly, definitely will be returning here once down in Brighton again! Also they are dog friendly which is a huge relief for us! Definitely recommend for a visit. It was a nice finish for a great day! 🤩🏖☀️
Spent the weekend in Shorham and this was far and above the best place we ate!!The food was totally delicious, really well priced, good portions and a great selection of gluten free and vegan options. The staff were lovely, the place was clean and the garden is just lovely. We cant wait to come back.Thank you very much!!
I really like this pub. Every time i go there i just trends to relax and see stress. Its comfortable, the beer selection is good and the staff are friendly. Not tried the food yet though.
Nice interior. No vegan food on offer ☹️ Have since been back & had their B12 vegan burger which was good. They have a couple of vegan starters, mains & a dessert now. 😃
Had Roast Beef. Beef was good but rest of meal was poor. Burnt potatoes, rock hard parsnip, watery broccoli. Paid extra for cauliflower cheese but wish I hadnt bothered. Wont be coming back.
Nice local pub at the end of the Downs Link. Perfect if youve just finished a long bike ride or walk! Nice outside area for the warmer months. Good menu and reasonably priced
Such a nice place. Great service, food and atmosphere. Even managed to nab the table next to the open fire. Special mention to the lady who looked after us. I think it was Chloe. Thank you Ill be back very soon
