Amparo's Breakfast Bistro - Breakfast restaurant in San Miguel de Cozumel, Mexico
We had breakfast here today. It was pretty good. Not as good as a few other spots near by but reasonably priced. The coffee was delicious. The service was pleasant. We got the biscuits with gravy, the biscuits were a bit stale but the sausage gravy was yummy. Give it a go.
Really tasty food and good for celiac. They do not have gluten free items marked but they have many options that can be made gluten free. Their fryer is dedicated to making corn chips, and the corn chips is what they use to thicken the beans, so they are safe.Note on the pancakes…they are made with oat flower. Naturally oats are of course gluten free but many times they are contaminated with gluten as they are processed in the same facilities or grown in proximity to wheat. That’s why you typically have to buy gluten free oats, not regular oats, if you’re celiacI did not eat the pancakes because I don’t know if the oat flower used is gluten free. If it is not, the gluten content is probably very low, but not worth it to me to risk. Most oat milk in Mexico is not gluten free either. But up to you, you may be okayBut PLENTY of other tasty options on the menu with eggs, potatoes, bacon, vegetables. Highly recommend. Great place
The Mexican skillet and Denver omelette were ordered. The Denver omelette was too cheesy and had piles of unmelted cheddar cheese on top that was not very appetizing. The Mexican skillet was fine.
Food looked beautiful. But a bit bland. Lacks flavor. Everyone was super nice though
Their food is delicious and their detox juice!
Breakfast platter with blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon was absolutely delicious!
A great start to a day on Cozumel, not far from the ferry but thankfully outside the gauntlet of vendors bothering one from all sides. Delicious food, with options that will satisfy most tastes, both for American- or Mexican-style breakfast foods. Vegan friendly, but also has plenty on non-vegan options.
Just had a fulfilling breakfast at this lover establishment. Wonderful atmosphere with colorful art on the walls. Very peaceful stop to a fast paced day. Food was cooked fresh and to order. The staff was helpful and offered menus in both English and Spanish. Left satisfied and ready to enjoy the day. I highly recommend this place.
One minute from my airbnb this wonderful corner place, i arrived at opening 8am, the vegan menu! I had the skillet meal asked for recommendation by vegan waiter, could not be better, good coffee, service genuine but give it time, pleasant outdoor shaded table, cmon :))
Its on the expensive side for the area, but they offer fine food and a friendly staff.
Exceptional local eatery with a creative menu. Lobster eggs Benedict, Bananas Foster pancakes and delicious Mexican favorites are just a few of the choices offered at very reasonable prices. We ate here three times in the week we were here. The owner, Rene, explained that the restaurant is named after his mother and that it means, "warm embrace." Perhaps this is what we felt and why we were compelled to return three times.
This is a gem. The artwork is very authentic. The food is amazing and the detox smoothie is SO good. The man that serves you is fast and I appreciate the work ethic. He had a lot of responsibility here. Be sure to tip. It’s custom to tip 15-20% in Mexico. Try to pay in pesos.
I ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was fantastic. The owner speaks English and accepts credit cards. I highly recommend it.
We enjoyed our breakfast at Amparos. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros and a Mexican Skillet for food as well as a Moka coffee and regular American coffee. Both were delicious with a subtle American flare. I would have enjoyed more spice and the staff were accommodating and provided crushed habanero to add when requested. The staff were friendly and provided great customer service. We would go again.
Excellent service and yummy food.I got the chicken fajita omelette and it was probably the best omelette I’ve had. So much flavour. The service was wonderful and very friendly. It’s just a couple of blocks from the main road so it’s a cute and quiet spot. Price very reasonable for the quality. Recommend this place. 😊
Great food, great service. You can park your vehicle across the street in the little parking lot.
Love it so much green juice is amazing and I don’t normally like black coffee but the coffee here was so good I drank it with just some sugarTotally recommend if you are in Cozumel!!
I’ve been here a few times. One time I had the huecos motuleños and the peas were uncooked and hard. Friendly staff though. I went back another time and got the eggs Benedict and it was really good. So i guess it might not always be consistent but the staff is always consistently friendly.
Good food, but its more expensive than some of the other breakfast places I frequent
Ordered a "vegetarian omelette": found meat in it. Staff were friendly and reasonable but this is 2022: the food here is not cheap - the least one can expect is for basic dietary preferences to be respected and to get what one orders from the menu as it is described. People with religious dietary restrictions must be careful here. I will not return.
Count your change ! Food was ok. Glad they have the vegan options. But the server did not give us the right change and short us 150 pesos! Not worth to go back even for the food. We were going to leave a tip but he took a 35 % tip without mentioning or on the bill. It’s only 2 of us. And we didn’t get water
Daaaaamn good chilaquiles, HOWEVER!!! for all tourists, do NOT mess around with the habanero salsa. If you’re careful it won’t end you, but if you’re not, you will dance with the devil in the pale moonlight.. I loved this place and will be back
The food was delicious and the service from the waitresses was very excellent and friendly. Not like other restaurants in the area they were not in our faces trying to sell us something they were friendly. Perfect if you like smoothies and natural juices. Air-conditioning, comfortable and a cute place! I highly recommend anyone that vists to come here to eat!
A capital place for all your Health food offerings. The breakfast and lunch menu options offer a delightful nourishment while keeping health and such in mind. Certainly a place to have a looksee and in this case, taste 🙂
Very cool little restaurant but they were able to seat our party of 8 for breakfast. Great service.
No good at all, ordered eggs benedict, ham was tough I couldnt cut it, the sauce was yellow water. I also ordered a side of well cooked bacon and I speak Spanish so no translation issues, I received the lightly cooked bacon after I was done eating I told the waiter I was already done eating he sat it down and walked away. The biscuit and gravy was just ok. One waiter for the entire resurant, definitely not worth the money.
Great motifs of catrinas and Calaveras and wonderful choices of fresh squeezed juices, authentic Mexican breakfast dishes with gluten free options
Great service, vegan options, gluten free options. The food and fresh juice selection is impressive. Everything we had was delicious 👍🏼
Gluten-free pancakes are not on the menu, but ask and they will make them. The waitress did not understanding, but the gentleman who seated us overhead and assured us that anything could be made Gluten-free. They also had delicious dairy-free smoothies. This is a great spot a little off of the beaten path!
If you enjoy great food and good prices, you HAVE to visit Amparo’s. Cool vibes, super friendly staff and the food is unreal!! Tastiest we had all trip 😋
Got the Mexican hash and eggs benedict. Both were really good. The eggs benedict came with caramelized onions that paired really well. Mayan sun smoothie was really good too! The Ginger wasnt over powering the other favors of the smoothie
Service is great and the people are friendly. The food was amazing everyone at my table love what they had!
Disclaimer: I’m writing this review from the perspective of someone with dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy). If this doesn’t apply to you then by all means please consider the other 5 star reviews.I was eager to eat breakfast at Amparo’s based on reviews indicating that they had gluten free pancakes that weren’t on the menu. Unfortunately, when I arrived I was told they don’t serve them. My husband ordered blueberry pancakes and received strawberry pancakes. I ended up ordering the vegan skillet which was nutritious but lacking in flavor. The horchata was watered down. We also ordered a fruit platter which felt like a huge waste of money once we received it. The money would’ve been better spent to purchase breakfast from a local market.
Ate here every morning I was in Cozumel! It was amazing the owner Rene is so sweet and knows how to make some delicious vegan mexican food! I tried almost everything in the vegan section and loved everything. The portions are huge and for a good price! They also have many other options if you arent vegan. I will be dreaming of the food until I come back. The staff is amazing you will be hooked just like me! Also it is so cute, I love the paintings on the wall.
Amparos is a nice spot off the main street. We went for breakfast. The selection was great, they had both american and local cuisine. I really loved their selection of juices and smoothies. The espresso was very good as well. The atmosphere was pleasant, the walls were hand painted with fun and interesting art.
Love the place. Owner Rene is very nice. Good food ,great coffee, will definitely come back
This place has misleading pictures of their food. Worst breakfast in Cozumel so far. Dont waste your time and money on this place. Some teenagers operating this restaurant.
After visiting this place a few times I’m happy to say, Rene’ never disappoints. Food was tasty and served with great presentation. They have a Vegan section with 6 Mexican food options. Deliscious!
Quiet place, everything is fresh and delicious. The service is beyond expectation. The breads are wow - a must have. Had the amparos skillet. I ate everything to the last bit. A must do in Cozumel.
The place is nice and clean, we did not have a good experience due that that day was the iron man so they ran out of a few products like ice and they didn’t have any drink with ice.Flavour wasn’t the best, something normal.I rather try new places.. sorry!.
Glad we stopped at Amparos! We were hungry, and the service was fast!!!! Food was excellent and tasted fresh! Pricing was fair. Place was very busy!
Ive eaten here three times in three days. All three items were great! I had the vegan rancheros, the vegan chilaquiles, and the vegan skillet. The skillet was by far the best value! So much food so so cheap. All were very tasty and beautifully plated. Mmm. I also had two different smoothies the heathy heart and antioxidant one. They are both great.Overall this place is clean, well decorated and the food is very fairly priced with perfect portions and tasty food. You wont be dissapointed. Plus there are cute latinas working here 😉
Excellent food for great prices!! Convenient location, but not super busy like on the main strip. Definitely worth the effort of getting there.Bottom line: excellent food, service with a chill atmosphere.
Enjoyed a delicious breakfast and coffee - the staff were friendly and loved the vibe of the bistro. Some very cool art as well!
Delicious food! Inviting and friendly atmosphere. Wonderful staff!
My girlfriend said its the best eggs benedict shes ever had in her life. These organic eggs are best in Mexico. Service with a smile. Only open breakfast and dinner.
Delicious! Organic and vegan options available. Something for everyone. Very friendly staff and great service. Dont pass this place by.
This spot was a very pleasant surprise! It reminds me of the delicious hipster brunch places that I frequent in LA. Everything we got was delicious, from the green Detox Juice, to the chilaquiles, to the enfrijoladas, to the complimentary pastries and marmalade. I would highly recommend this place from breakfast or lunch, and I will definitely be back again!
Great friendly staff and owner, you really feel like eating at home here... but the food is way better than you can cook! :thank you soooooo much for having us, and you really have a wonderful location and beautiful space with great light/windows and AC.Feliz Navidad
Very tasty breakfast near la plaza on 10th and 2nd.. right on the corner. They are super nice and served everything with a smile :)Vegan options, had the vegan enchiladas which were actually super tasty with an egg on top.Their skillets actually come in a skillet, wut?? The desayuna Mexicano was on point!Oh and the cortado was legit and the espresso comes in the cutest lil ceramic pots.
