Ammos in Luzern

If I could Id rate this 3.5 stars, Ive read through the other reviews and - as a Greek myself Im not sure that it is true that they nailed the food. The service is excellent and attentive and the room is comfortable, the Greek music was nice and the volume level perfect and our wine delicious.Unfortunately the food - not that great in my opinion, We ordered eight dishes and the stand-out for me was the grilled octopus - brilliantly cooked and nicely presented.The zucchini cheese burger patties had so much cheese in them they were more like fried fondue with no flavor other than cheese, the kleftico - well, simply wasnt kleftico, It was small pieces of lamb with new potatoes, red, green and yellow bell pepper and carrots, (All vegetables very undercookedwith a smattering of herbs presented in a tied paper bag. But as I understand it Kleftico is, large chunks of tender lamb, marinated in garlic, lemon and olive oil with long slivers of potato and tons of oregano roasted for many hours in a clay oven, Or sealed clay pot if no clay oven is available.The other dishes we tried had twists and flourishes and ingredients that were not required, Greek food has amazing layers of flavor when traditional recipes are followed and the food is seasoned correctly.Overall - had the meal not been is Switzerland I would have been less likely to be so offended by the food, however at these extortionate prices I think the least restaurant owners can do is try their hardest to be as authentic as possible.

The location is excellent and the problem is with some of their food. The problem is most of the food include pork and some customers don’t like eating pork , it should be an option. Otherwise I’ll give them 5stars

Absolutely what I wanted in terms of flavors. The dolmathes were excellent as well as the main, moussaka. They had white and red wines by the glass, Greek and others (I was dining aloneand Mastika for after dinner. It was lively and the owner was so accommodating. I walked in without a rez, the place was packed (Sunday around 730pand he gave up the table he was using as his office that night. I heartily recommend.

Delicious, authentic Greek food right on the river.

Lovely staff and good ambiance, but sadly the food fell a little short in the flavor department. It was all pretty one note, dry and had me looking around for salt, pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar to add some type of flavor.

Just walked in and it was fabulous and authentic Greek food!! Great location, right next to the river and great views. Good service as well.

This little gem was recommended to us by our server at another restaurant and we were floored by how great it was, we might even have it again for dinner! The food, drinks, service & ambiance are top notch. We felt as though we were transported to Greece with such an amazing attention to detail on all aspects, Everything about this place felt and tasted authentic. Eating inside the restaurant is a must if you can but they do have an outdoor section too. We had the dip garden to start with amazing bread and fresh made dips, we followed that with the SOUVLÀKIA and Kritharòto Thalassinòn which were super flavorful and delicious. We also had their seasonal cocktail Lart Du Squeeze which was really refreshing and delicious. Would absolutely recommend coming here if you have the opportunity.

A disgraceful place. Instead of ordering the main course, we wanted to order a few starters and taste more dishes. But each of the starters is the size of a main course and we ordered about 7 main courses without knowing it. The waiters did not say in any way that the portions were too big to order in this way and they brought the orders to the table as if they were kidding. As of 21:30, when I asked why it was not possible and healthy for two people to finish a table of this size, and why they didnt warn us, they gave a ridiculous answer like "sometimes there are customers who want that". When we asked them to take back 1-2 plates from the table, they said it was not possible either. I absolutely do not recommend!

Superb food, big portion sizes, chatty and friendly waiters, great location with spectacular views. Will absolutely come back!

The food was soooooo tasty. It transports you to Greece. The prices quite expensive.

A bit pricey for the quality of food and the service they provide. Waiter took our order and he came back to bring the bill at the end. Nobody asked if food was good or if we want a second drink or more bread, it might be a selling strategy 🤔.

Delicious authentic Greek cuisine. My husband ordered Kleftico (organic lamb baked in a bag with potatoes and vegetablesit was delicious an tendered. I ordered a Sea Bass that was spectacular.

Had THE BEST experience ever; amazing restaurant but above all the best staff. Gave a call as I visited the place year ago and everything was arranged so nicely! Again; a top recommendation when visiting Lucerne!

first of all the location is amazing! the crispy feta was worth 6 stars, really tasty. I had the local special salad and can‘t remember the last time i had such a good salad. Service also really kind.

Unfriendly staff..I asked if they have fish and the waitress told me to look in the menu and left us waiting. The second waiter answered the same..careless attitude towards customers. I left 5 Franks tip and the waiter looked at it and left with anger..although the location is great but the food is not so great..I’ve been to creek restaurants before and their food is far more delicious than Amos 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Hellenic restaurant in the heart of luzern by the river. Excellent cuisine and service. The people are polite and professionell. They serve great cold coffee and desserts!! Totally recommend.

Absolutely incredible. The service was on point (thanks Harry), and the food was to die for. Unlike any Greek food we have ever eaten. Greek with an amazing spin of spectacularness! A must try.

Wonderful food, exceptional service, beautiful location. Youre doing yourself a disservice if you dont eat here.Special shout-out to the staff who made our meal a truly great experience. They were attentive and friendly, and even joked around with us throughout the evening. The fact that the food was delicious was the cherry on top. I’m Greek and know Greek food - this place NAILED it. Sincerely a perfect dining experience in every single way. The staff was also extremely kind and made it clear they cared to make your experience at their restaurant the best it can possibly be. One of the waiters explained they import as many ingredients as they can from Greece, and it definitely shows. Even the olive oil was spectacular! I recommend the farmers salad (a classic Greek saladand the Mousakka. Thank you to this restaurant for helping to make my first visit to Switzerland a memorable one.

We really enjoyed the place! The stuff was extra pleasant and friendly, and food was amazingly delicious and also very beautiful. Will definitely go back again when in town again!

Beautiful & original mediterranean Food made with love.. Their Baklava is delicious, the best I have eaten in Switzerland and I know this dessert very well! The crew is Great and Welcoming too.

Loved this restaurant. Right next to the river in a stunning location.The food was Greek and delicious. I had moussaka and a couple of beers.The waiter was friendly and attentive and managed to get us a table even though it was a busy night.

Very good vegan options, not half-hearted token menu items. We had lentil soup, greens, and vegan moussaka, and every item was flavorful and well presented. And the view!

Delicious greek food, a real suprise in central Luzern!We stopped by looking for something to eat and we were surprised by the quality and taste of the dishes at Ammos! A lot of bio items in the menu,awesome taste, a lot of attention to details, not to forget the very kind waiters! Definitely on our list when we will pass again through Luzern!

Real greek food! The restaurant is well located in the center of Lucerne, very close to a parking building. Its also ample and nicely decorated with beach/Greek themes. The staff is very friendly!The food was delicious, and reminded me of my trip to Greece last year... lots of good memories! So if you are looking for a taste of the authentic Greek cuisine, you should pay them a visit!

Food is great, authentic greek and delicious!The waiter that was serving our table seemed annoyed, was slow and did not even know they had Galaktoboureko on their own menu and had to ask the other waiters (who seemed way nicer!).

Very nice restaurant, very welcoming and friendly service. The dishes were delicious! The restaurant is also very respectful of the rules of hygiene against covid with Plexiglas separating each table and disinfectant on each table.

The food tastes really good, every dish we ordered was perfect. I recommend you try the homemade Baklava! The staff was so kind and helpful. The location is in a cozy central district! And many ciao salut to the manager Christo! The italian guests

Delicious food, the service is very nice

A truly enchanting Greek restaurant with outdoor seating right by the river. The menu offers some delicious appetizers of the Greek tradition like tzatziki and mixed olives, but also some less known delicacies from Crete. The mains include classics like souvlaki and moussaka, along with more complex dishes, with grilled octopus, lentil soup (mamas recipeand a boneless chicken marinated in sweet wine to die for. The personnel is friendly and helpful. It is imperative to book in advance, since its always full! A delightful experience all in all, thoroughly enjoyable, with fresh ingredients and plenty of choice for vegetarians.

Special for offering Greek dishes in Lucern. The location is good as it seats along River Reuss. Blankets are provided in case you feel cold. The foods are delicious. Staff are very friendly and wiling to offer recommendations in case you face difficulties in making choices.

Very cozy place with traditional Greek food. Everything was tasty and the service was very kind and they all speak English. It is a bit expensive, specially the Suvlaki (pork in a stickwith and it was a bit dry for my taste. Nevertheless the dessert was amazing and the Greek wine they recommended was a good choice as well. Will definitely come back.

Reasonable prices for the area but the service we experienced was awful. We waited for more than an hour to get our food, after waiting about 15 minutes to order and watching all the tables around us get their plates. The service was slow all around, even though there were only 6 tables occupied.The only thing we got is some bread and tsiziki but not any discount.The food itself is fine. The pork skewers were quite dense and a bit dry.

Not qualified to determine the authenticity of Greek food. However, ordered a few appetizers and one main course to share. I thought the appetizers were good. The grilled pork, however, was way too dry. Good ambience and service. Prices seemed reasonable also.
