Amma Guesthouse in Akureyri

Place is very nice and location is great but the Host or Owner of the place completely ruined the experience for us.He is super controlling, and will scold you for the slightest things. He threatened to kick us out on the street, with no remorse. While we did come to an agreement, the rest of the trip was a constant state of stress, not knowing what wrong move might make him kick us out.Stay here at your own risk. I would recommend staying here for not more than one night.

Avoid this place at all costs! We had a room booked for 2 nights via email (it was a voucher). When we called him on the day of the check-in, the owner told us that he doesn’t have a room for us for the first night and offered us to sleep in the living room(!), calling it a “good solution”. When we asked for the money back at least for the first night, he refused, saying that “we want to make a profit of him” and hung up. Tried to call him, but no luck. We had to urgently book another place, but after 20 minutes(!he called saying that he found a room in some other hotel, which would also ruin our plans for the next day, so we just stayed in another place. No money was returned. If this is how he does business, I don’t want to know what the rooms look like.

This guest house was clean. The owner was very polite to guide us and take us to the nearest grocery store. The bathroom was clean and big. Overall we had a good stay.

Prijetni skupni prostori in polno opremljena kuhinja, pralnica itd. Najboljše mogoče razmerje med ceno in kvaliteto bivanja.

굉장히 저렴한 가격에서 묵었던 숙소였습니다. 진짜 아이슬란드 숙소 중에 가장 쌌던 것 같아요. 2층에서 묵었는데, 화장실도 넓직하고 방도 꽤 커서(3인실좋았어요. 조금 늦게 예약해서 여기 담당자 분이 안계셔서, 전화로 커뮤니케이션을 하느라 조금 애먹었지만, 그래도 잘 묵다 갑니다. 지하에 주방이 있고, 조리기구도 다 갖춰져 있었습니다.

The place is close to the city center. Restaurants, pubs, bookstore, water park are within walking distance. Room is decent sized, bathroom on second floor is big.

Likasta, epähygeniallista, haisee, ei kannata ainakaan pidemmäksi aikaa. Sängyt on hyvät.

Las habitaciones están bien, pero le pongo poca nota porque solo hay un baño individual por planta y por la mañana es prácticamente imposible ducharte

A éviter...Tout le monde peut y rentrer puisque la porte est ouverte à toute heure du jour ou de la nuit. Laccueil est inexistant, il ny a aucun personnel que ce soit pour vous accueillir ou pour vous renseigner durant votre séjour.A vous dappeler le propriétaire pour connaître votre numéro de chambre et vous y installer...Quant au ménage, impossible de savoir sil est fait ou si ce sont juste les voyageurs qui le font en enlevant leurs chaussures dans lentrée..Bref, séjour écourté pour trouver mieux ailleurs !

Amma Guesthouse is a great place to stay in Akuryeri. It is very easy to locate the guesthouse. Amma Guesthouse is very neat & clean. The owner lives here only & is available anytime. Kitchen is located in the basement. I hope the kitchen was cleaner. The common area is good & comfortable. The room was big & very comfortable.Toilet was huge (Bigger than any room)! There is parking space available as well. For the price, it is a good deal for sure.

The landlord is the worst person Ive ever met. Arrogant, greedy, selfish, etc. He didnt let us invite friends, not even to play cards nor watch a movie. I had to call police two times, the second time because he didnt wanted to return me my money deposit without any reason.

Spend there 5 months during my Erasmus stay. It´s a clean place and the price is quite ok for Iceland. The guesthouse is located near centre and realy close to swimming pool. The fridge is for everyone, so expect to lose some sausages etc. :D 2 bathrooms, 3 toilets, big room with TV.

Ruhig und sauber! Etwas ausserhalb vom Zentrum aber noch so, dass Akureyri zu Fuss erkundet werden kann.

Lovely place! Thank you for the hospitality. Really clean and quite place.Weve shown in the place in the evning and there was no problem with accomodation.

Theotor the owner is great! Lovely guy, very helpful. Super clean and very comfortable beds. Would highly recommend staying here along with a 1 minute easy walk to the high Street!
