Modern domed museum with portraits & artifacts relating to 14th-century ruler Tamerlane.
Amir Timur Museum in Angren
Description
Privilege
Less informative about the Timur era, very dean maps and sources only
In this museum, you will feel as if you have fallen into the era of the Timurid Empire of the 14th and 15th centuries
MoreOne of the best historical museum in the Uzbekistan.
Just dont buy the photo supplement as we also didnt buy it, its a rip of. The museum provides some maps and illustrations about Emir Temur and his Empire. Little is info is been given about all these but there are QR Quads in many items that redirect you to more info. Unfortunately the paper QR codes have been in many cases scratched and the scan is not possible!!
MoreNice building, beautiful inside, however, I think they could have done more to make museum more interesting, informative and interactive for visitors.
MoreMost beautiful part was the entrance, when you walk in you are greeted by a huge painting with ornate details. The actual exhibits of the museum are a little disappointing as most of them are photocopies or works inspired by Timur, very little actually relating to him.
MoreArtistic presentations
Small but rich museum
A nice museum showcasing Amir Timurs history. But did the history of Uzbekistan begin only in the 14th century? Where can one see the earlier history, kingdoms, architecture, science etc.
MoreI really love it
Back to History
Nice place to visit. All good but i would other hystorical stuff and make it more attractive. Many empty spaces to be used more effectivly.
MoreYou need to pay for a ticket to see thinks inside
Really great Museum, especially for whom would like know more about Timur and His Empire
MoreGrand museum. An integral part of Uzbek national identity.
Amir Temur Museum is a great place to visit and to get vibes of great Temurid Dynasty and Uzbekistan Renaissance.
MoreOnly visited from the outside, but a very beautiful building, without a doubt one of the noisiest fountains I’ve ever heard!
MoreVery historical things to see there must visit
On 18-07-2021 along with my 2 other friends planed to visit Amir Temur Museum. After a 20 minutes of ride we reached there. It’s situated just near to the Uzbekistan Hotel and Amir Temur Square & Park. Marvelous building and efficiently maintained. We bought 3 tickets of 48,000 Soum almost 5 US$.Our decision to visit this museum was really good. Museum is extremely resourceful in every aspect. You can find almost every bit of Temurid dynasty from Amir Temur to last king of India Bahadur Shah Zafar. I liked the most was A manuscript of Holy Quran (Hazrat Usman Quranand a comprehensive chart related to the Genealogy of Amir Temur.
MoreTraveling during a pandemic is a surreal experience. My family and I may just be the only foreign tourists in Tashkent right now. The museums are open but completely empty. Lucky for us! Halls are empty, docents are kind. They have translations in English and QR codes that link to Wikipedia pages. Its also beautiful inside.
MoreBeautiful place i recommend all of you when your in Tashkent visit the place
If you want to know about Uzbek history please do visit.
Very nice place. Beautiful, And very nice staaf. Ma Sha Allah
Recommended to get the history before you start your journey to discover other cities in Uzbekistan such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, etc.
MoreI really love to explore history and traditions and cultures of a country, this place took me back in times, as I has only heard and studied about the emperors those who ruled subcontinent here I came to know from where all this started. Amir Timur the great. All the historic ornaments, weapons, clothes, structures and especially the Samarkand Kufic Quran (Quran of Usmanare really amazing to see.
MoreIf you are in Tashkent, I highly recommend visiting this place. Beautiful architecture for a building that was built over 8 month back in 1996. There guides available in the museum. I am not sure for English speaking ones. We used services of a Russian speaking guide. There are many original artifacts from the times of Temirlan. We visited with the children and they enjoyed the visit very much. There is s small souvenir shop where we picked up small presents.
MoreWonderfull museum in Tashkent. At the beginning of Indepence of the Republic of Uzbekistan Uzbek government decided to celebrate Great Amir Temurs legacy. Year 1996 was declared to be the “Year of Amir Temur”, and the 660th anniversary was widely celebrated in Uzbekistan, and the Republic subsequently resolved to build a State Museum in central Tashkent, featuring the Temurids history.
MoreI visited this place a year ago. Its Its kept very nicely & should been seen by all visitors. The guide was also very knowledgeable. Overall an excellent experience.
MoreGrand museum, with a number of artefacts. However theres no real order to the exhibitions and some are a bit random. Also, a number of the more impressive artefacts are replicas with the originals being in other museums (primarily in London). Didnt really learn much more about Timur which was what I was looking for.
MoreIf you want to know something new about Amir Timur you shall definitely visit this place
MoreWeve been here before making a trip to Samarkand where Amir Temur started his empire. So we had a great base before seeing all the places in Samarkand in person which are connected to Amir Temur and his empire. Theres always a "tourist fee" you have to pay on top, but over all its really worth it and not expensive.
MoreNice museum but they charge extra to take photos. Also, they only accept national credit cards in a place that would mostly get foreigners. Hmmmm...
MoreI took photos inside not knowing there was an extra charge was tackled on exit and it was twice the entry fee which I thought was unreasonable.I said I was not going to pay and would delete the photos and they backed down.
MoreMuseum looks good, but most is a copy only for show. Have descriptions to locate originals...still - visit to see copies not my choice.
MoreFirstly, it opens at 10am, is not open on Monday’s, the entrance is downstairs and it costs extra to take photos inside. Pay the extra, the urge to snap will be unbearable.Inside and out the Amir Timur Museum is beautiful. There is a lot to see inside; as you walk up the stairs to the main chamber take a look up. The decorative high ceiling is a wonder on par with the decorative pieces in Samarkand. There are loads of war memorabilia, paintings of the great man and his dynasty plus scale models of buildings that were influenced by Amir Temur’s legacy.
MoreA very beautifully decorated museum.
As most of the museum in the country the entrance fee is cheap (c. sum16kand there are almost no explanation for the collection. You wont leave the place smarter than you enter...
MoreMake sure you pay a little more for a guide.
Well taking care museum, I liked it very much. I learned a lot about Uzbekistan history and culture.
MoreVery interesting place to learn more about Amir Timur.
Very spacious museum. Not so many good explanations for the artistic pieces but this is all so common in Uzbekistan. Also need to pay to take pictures.
MoreMust Visit Museum in Tashkent.Go in and ask a good guide then at the end of the tour youll go out of museum with full of awesome and incredible information.
MoreGreat place to visit. All uzbekistan warrior family tree and their achivement details are displayed. Architectural design is really good and ambience is also nice.many near by restarent are available. Located in the heart of city
MoreNice enough but nothing exciting. The building is new and luxurious but there are few interesting exhibits: some old clothing and ceramics.
MoreThis a small but very informative museum on Amir Timur and its decendants.
Amazing place surrounded by parks, squares, universities, museums and theaters!
The Amir Timur Museum is located in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. It opened in 1996, and is dedicated to the warlord Amir Timur. The ceremonial opening of the round museum tructure was held on October 18, 1996 in the presence of Uzbek people and foreign guests. President Karimov stated that, The State Museum of the History of the Temurids which is opening in such a holiday conditions is the real result of the fact that in our country the historical justice towards the personality of Sahibkiran has triumphed. He compared Amir Temur Square with a ring, saying "the Museum is a precious stone decorating it”.President Islam Karimov said, "Every man visiting this museum can make sure to my words, that this museum like a great mirror, reflects both our past and present and our great future".The museums blue cupola resembles that of the Gur-i Amir mausoleum in Samarkand. Though the museum was built according to the traditions of medieval architecture, it satisfies modern requirements. There are more than 5000 artifacts in the museum collection, with more than 2,000 displayed in museum exhibition halls. In particular, the museum displays focus on the genealogy of Amir Temur, his coming to power, military campaigns of Sahibkiran, diplomatic and trade relations, workmanship, city improvement and landscaping, science and education development. There are also exhibits related to representatives of Temurids dynasty (including maps, weaponries, copper and silver coins, miniatures, rare manuscripts, potteries, and jewelry). Models of architectural works from the Amir Temur and Temurids era include Ak - Saray, Ahmad Yassavi`s mausoleum, Bibi - Khanum mosque, Ulughbek’s madrasah and observatory, Gur-i Amir and Taj Mahal mausoleums. An exhibition called «Gifts» shows images of Amir Temurs, a gift of the Louvre Museum of France, and examples of correspondence between the Amir Temur and Temurids dynasty with neighboring countries, including the embassy of Iran, Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia, Turkey and others.
MoreA reasonably new building with beautiful decorated displays and models of the important landmarks from historical times, especially related to Amir Timur. Nice paintings too. Several of the items on display are copies, with originals located in other museums around the world. Worth a look.
MoreVery beautiful building inside and outside. This is an excellent place to learn about Amir Timur and the Uzbekistan history. There is an extra charge for taking pictures inside and it is well controlled in all areas.
MoreBeautiful place. Has extra fees for filming. Has many portraits about the Timur times, and artifacts from the past. Felt longer than the historical museum of uzbek, since the size is whole bigger.
