Americanos Breakfast Restaurant - Breakfast restaurant in Wellington, New Zealand
We were looking for somewhere for breakfast that served pancakes for a reasonable cost. This place did not disappoint. For $19 you get toast, two eggs, bacon and two large pancakes. Reminded us of being in the USA. The staff were very friendly and gave our daughter a container of crayons and some colouring sheets to keep her entertained. There of us ate till we were full for $30 which is pretty amazing!
Extensive menu. Food hot. Very busy, but it was Fathers Day. Not recommended for disabled people, because it is underground, and no lift is available. 4 toilets, but only 2 were working. Booking essential.
Im a picky eater now since Im still 8 months pregnant. I dont like to eat much during breakfast but eating here changed my appetite. For me, it was the best french toast Ive ever had. I havent tasted as good as this. I was able to finish everything and would love to order again but we had to get going already. Ill keep coming back here up to the end of our trip. Love it! and staffs were all warm ❤️
The food was apparently pretty good but personally the food was too rich in flavour for me. The gluten free options were decent but not a large portion of the menu. Overall Id recommend this place if youre not gluten free and can handle some rich food.
Excellent service, delicious food, generous portions, and reasonable prices made for a fantastic lunch. Highly recommended if youre looking for a deluxe American diner experience.
We ordered right away but waited nearly 50 minutes for our food to arrive. One French toast and two small pancakes. That was it. Too many people dining and no warning that there would be a long wait time. Plenty of wait/service staff...but maybe not enough cooks? Wont return, not with my children in tow again or if I was on a lunch break.
Being from the heartland of the states Ive gotta say Americanos absolutely nailed it. The bottomless filter coffee was just like home, the pancakes were sweet and fluffy, the bacon cooked to perfection, and the cherry on top was I asked for my fried eggs over medium and they actually came out that way, first time ever here in NZ. Our server was excellent (the tall curly haired oneand my coffee never ran out. 10/10 will be going back again. Cant recommend this place highly enough 😁
Excellent bacon and eggs, their corned beef hash is something different, and bottomless coffees are always great. But their hash browns, while substantial, are bland.
Very nice food, great breakfast atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Giving 4 stars because we had to wait over an hour for our meals for 2 of us as something happened to our order. We still left happy though due to the lovely servers and the food was yummy and they wiped the cost of our bill. Accidents happen but great customer service makes up for it. Will defs go back.
Really nice place. The Stuff is polite and you get always more coffee. I can recommend the Pancakes.
I havent had bad experiences here, but I havent had OVERLY amazing ones either. The service is always really good, but its really just like a typical american diner. Huge portions with average flavour. I wouldnt not recommend it hence the four stars :probably a great hangover place
Good place to have breakfast early morning
Our table was promptly ready when we arrived and the waitress was lovely. But we waited over 40min for our breakfast and all they would tell us is that they were busy. We saw people that ordered after us being served before us and even the waitress said our order wasnt hard to prepare.Once arrived, the hashbrown and scrambled eggs were tasteless with no salt. After reading all amazing reviews, Im sure I was of no luck this time however, I wont come back anytime soon.
If youre in the mood to indulge in excessive amounts of breakfast food Ive got good news - this is the place for it. Pictured is smoked salmon, hashbrown with tomatoes and poached eggs, and short stack pancakes
This is a great place for breakfast. A hidden gem, and a place to go to. Highly recommended.
Best breakfast place ever. Large portions, free toast sides with everything, quality food and not overpriced - I cant get enough of those $6.20 waffles. Highly recommended!!
Food was good and service was good but we had to wait nearly an hour for our meals they did comp our drinks but if there is going to be a long delay a bit of communication would be nice, now that parking is not free in the CBD on the weekend we all had to go out and feed the meters again. Just extra costs to dining out.
I can honestly say this place is one of the best breakfast joints in NZ.....the food is very good....great portions.....affordable.....and the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly.....thanks for the good experience.
Friendly service with delicious eggs, bacon and hash brown. Large portions and good quality. Only reason not five stars is due to pancakes tasting slightly bitter with too much raising agent (we all noticed itand wait was long. However I would recommend for a relaxed breakfast.
Servers and staff are very polite and receptive. The food was okay. I had one of the few vegetarian options and it was underwhelming. It was under seasoned and not very flavoursome. However my friend enjoyed their “farmer’s breakfast” very much. It was a bit hit and miss.
Great Service, Eggs Benedict, corn beef hash and Bottomless coffee were eggcellent!
We 5 people had breakfast today. Its really yumm... Staff is nice and friendly. Awesome ambiance, we really enjoyed. Veg and non veg option are cool. I recommend this place where you can sit and enjoy your time.
Food was pretty good. They either need larger coffee cups or more staff, I had to wait for over ten minutes between coffee refills. I liked that they had an option for small servings of waffles etc. Good place to take kids
Service is excellent, food... Not excellent but enjoyable. Maybe a bit overpriced.
Perfect all day diner..come here a lot with friends and the children for breakfast. Portions are very generous, service is fast and friendly. Food quality is very good and prices reasonable. Eating in a booth is always more fun than a table! Worth a visit.
What a pleasant surprise.Americanos is open 7 days. The menu is like Drexels in Christchurch so you are guaranteed a large meal. I had lox and bagel with yogurt on the side. What a huge amount of tasty salmon. Freshly prepared and served with a welcome. Cozy and nicer than something that tries to be trendy.Recommended to Wellington visitors.
I was served by a nice friendly staff member... but after that it went downhill at a rapid rate... ordered a filter coffee, normally a nice option in an American styled restaurant, unfortunately it was stale and lukewarm!!! Next my order “American Special” was the opposite of special... the hash brown was really old & was ready for the bin... the order came with a few choices of which I chose fried bread ... but this didn’t arrive with the meal... had to wait about another 5 minutes for this ... so now half my meal was not so hot!! The friendly staff member asked if everything was alright with my order... I mentioned the Hash brown was old & stale, that it was not great that the meal wasn’t served all together... her reply was that it sometimes takes longer to prepare the fried bread!!! I would have thought any decent Chef would realise this and prepare all ingredients to be put on the plate at the same time.... Anyway no apologies from the Friendly Staff member or an offer to either replace the Hash brown or discount the meal... definitely won’t be back here anytime again
Food was ok but service lacking. It seems more interest was taken into clearing tables than getting food right. Had to ask where my coffee was (other drinks ordered at the same time arrived 15min before coffeeand our second short stack order (which was completely missed!Thought it was pretty rude that the person i queried pancakes with didnt even update us and i had to check with a 3rd person, by time it did arrive, everyone had finished eating.
I accidentally stumbled across this place early one morning. Its down a small flight of stairs at street-level on the corner and I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the bottom. The place had great ambience and was full despite it being 7:30am on a Thursday (they open at 6:30am on weekdays). I was offered a drink straight away and a generously-sized Mochachino was delivered pronto (American sizing, I guess?). All the mains come with toast (wholegrain and white), butter, and jam. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon and extra spinach, which also came with a home-made hash brown/potato rosti, and the portion was decently sized. The service was really good, attentive but not annoying. And students, they do 10% off your bill Monday to Friday if you bring your student ID! Can highly recommend this place for a big, wholesome breakfast.
Such good value for some really good food. Classic American diner style place. For breakfast youll be given toast with butter and jam as a table starter. Sweet to eat while making up your mind. The French toast is top draw and the waffles are great too. Go for the filter coffee option with endless refills
Hate giving bad reviews, but our recent experience here wasn’t great. Our food took over 50min to come which is ages for kids. No updates during this time from staff. Fairly sure folks that arrived after us got their meals quicker, and they looked much more elaborate. Sadly, once the food arrived, it was the most bland food I’ve eaten in ages. Eggs were ok, but everything else was tasteless. Won’t be hurrying back here anytime soon.
Good service, great all day breakfast
Amazing experience. Great service and awesome food. Highly recommended.
Great place to have a sit down breakfast. Reasonably priced and generously portioned
Its a great place for all-day-breakfast meals. Friendly staff. Coffee & smoothies are great too. There can be a bit of a wait during peak times so if youre in a group its best to book ahead.
Really loved this place. Had brekky here a few times and it was great! Good coffee and the best pancakes Ive had in ages. The place was clean and tidy, the staff were really friendly and the service was fast and efficient.Highly recommended!
I am from Canada and this place makes me feel like Im back at home. BIG breakfasts ($19.90 for eggs, hashbrown, French toast and about 5 or 6 pieces of bacon!), condiments on the table (ketchup, maple syrup etc), unlimited brewed coffee and tea, great selection of breakfast, drinks (REAL fruit juice, smoothies, pop, milkshakes and coffees). Very impressed. Super busy and our food still didnt take long. Free toast to start (our waitress did forget about this, but I couldnt even finish my breakfast without even having this anyway). Really recommend!
Loved this place! We went for breakfast a few times but not for dinner.. the food was enjoyable I wouldnt say award winning but definitely tasty and they give complimentary toast with whipped butter and jam which is a great little extra.. their English breakfast tea is really really nice.. I had the eggs Benedict, the pancakes and the French toast and my partner had the breakfast burrito, a bagel and the big breakfast and all of it was really really nice.. the service was good and the prices are okay.. would definitely recommend
Tasty food served with a smile, only issue is that its often to full to get a table!
Although the wait staff were nice and friendly, and the ambience was nice, I cant really recommend. The food was pretty bland and lackluster, the staff forgot the complimentary toast, and it was overall not a fantastic meal.On the upside, the iced chocolate was pretty amazing! But yeah. I might go back to try the crepes they have on the menu, but wouldnt get anything with the hash browns again.
Amazing menu and breakfast. Always a queue to get in! We tried some new foods and loved them. The bottomless drinks were a bonus. Loved the maple syrup on the table which was really lovely!
Cosy, warm and private. Substantial meals, that look good enough to photograph. Go with a big appetite.
Their hot chocolate and grilled tomatoes were probably the only nice parts of my meal. Food was unseasoned and quite bland. Service was nice however, the waitresses are lovely. They did get my meal wrong but did change it without a fuss. Don’t really recommend this place though.
Friendly staff, delicious American-style diner food, with all-day breakfast and "bottomless" filter coffee. Gluten-free options are just as tasty as the originals. Kids menu available as well as highchairs.
Really nice place, good service, delicious food, y mid-range prices.
Big breakfast menu, loads of GF options which is why it was initially recommended, certainly didnt disappoint. Meals were large and flavorsome. If you want a GREAT breakfast then the options are endless!! Friendly staff, clean open airy and reasonable prices.
Awesome breakfast. Its an american style diner with Kiwi hospitality. Prices are in the mid range but well worth it if youre visiting wellington or just need a really big breakfast.also they have bottomless filter coffee that is not bad at all, so theres something to be said for that as well.
Weve been to Drexels twice and will go back again. The best thing is the service - all of the waitstaff without exception have been super friendly, helpful and efficient. The food is pretty tasty, not mind blowing but good enough. The pancakes are huge, the French toast isnt so big, the hollandaise is reasonable. Love the bottomless tea, great idea. Definitely recommend booking because it was super busy both times.
Been here three times now and every time have been disappointed. The place has so much potential to be tasty but fails to live up to expectation. The food is what you would expect, like ihop or Dennys, but not as good. To compete with some really good breakfast places nearby, they need to do cheap, American style breakfast better than they are. On the bright side, the service is pretty good.
