Light-filled cafe serves a range of French pastries, cafe fare & espresso in a cheerful atmosphere.
The pastries are good, four stars, but the "hot" food is terrible, zero stars.I ordered some pastries and a sandwich with turkey, ham, swiss and Dijon mustard. I was told the sandwich is served hot. When I got it, it was mostly mustard, dripping everywhere. I had to use napkins to wipe off the excess gallon of mustard. They toasted the bread and melted the cheese. Thats it. The meat was cold. All in all a disgusting sandwich that I took two bites of and threw away.Go for the pasties and avoid the nasty "hot" food.
Bonjour Amélie! Lovely to see you again and have this tasty breakfast. Croque Monsieur and Macrons galore! 😋 I like your new location, I was in Uptown last time I was visiting years ago.
Adorable French bakery with so many options! The croissant breakfast sandwich was so good, flaky, buttery, yum! The macaroons were huge and also really good - loved the blueberry cheesecake in particular. What could have been better was the wait time. It took about 15 minutes to get a black coffee, which was way too long. I would go back, but maybe not a Sunday morning.
Interesting interior. However food was very underwhelming. Ordered a build your own sandwich, and while the baguette was fresh the rest of the ingredients (egg, avocado and tomatowere not of the best quality.
I love Amelie’s! I was sad when they shut down their original NODA location but this new one place it out the water. Such a cute spot and always enjoy their desserts.
Building is really cool, feels like you’re in France! My crème brûlée was delicious, my husband enjoyed his breakfast sandwich although the French toast was bland, would recommend people to come in!
Super cute place, great vibe. I did not taste the pastries but those with me said theirs was yummy!!
Authentic French Breads and confectionery with an Ambiance to match. Wide varieties of food items (vegan alsoand drinks. A very courteous and helpful staff. Lots of parking place adds to the leisurely enjoying the evening. A must visit if you are in Charlotte.
This place is just so unique inside, it’s a “must see”. Your eyes will be captivated by all the neat art hanging on the walls and the very cool light fixtures. Plenty of space for a large group of friends to meet and also a separate room to rent for parties. Now, let’s talk the coffee & food…delicious! I got the Pecan Peach Salmon Salad, absolutely tasty. Friend got some soup. I got an iced oat latte sweetened with honey, it was perfection. Can’t wait to go back and try some other tasty desserts.
If you want to go to Paris on a budget, this is the place to go. They have a good amount of parking available in their parking lot. The decorations are lively and creative. It’s spacious inside. Friendly staff. A lot of dessert options and they were fresh. I would definitely try them again when I’m in the area.
This place is so good! It’s one of my nEw favorites. They have some delicious deserts, breakfast, and lunch. Love the vibes of this place. Get there!
Been a favorite of mine years ago and since I was in college. Many memories from the old spot when they were 24 hours late night coffee and writing papers. Desserts are always amazing. My favorites are salted caramel brownies and espresso entremets when theyre in season. Iced mocha is really good too. Love this place
Went for breakfast and coffee on a Friday late morning. It was quite busy (be prepared to wait in linebut the employees were great and moved things along as fast as possible. Did not have to wait very long for my drink or food to be prepared after ordering and had no trouble finding a place to sit. Cute ambiance as well.
I love this place! Every time I come to Charlotte I HAVE to come here. Their asparagus leek soup is to DIE FOR! If anyone knows the recipe I will pay handsomely. We were helped by Thomas who was so kind and attentive, we chatted about the virtues of even numbers, and generally had the best time. I love this place- always 5 stars.
So delicious! The ladies working the counter were all friendly and helpful. The decor was adorable! Would definitely recommend
Love the new Amelie’s. Such a pretty and welcoming space. I had a cookie dough macaron, a Napoleon and a petit gateaux. Everything was absolutely fresh and delicious. I also had an iced coffee with oat milk and that was really great too. The service was really great. Everyone was really patient explaining what everything was. I’ll definitely go back and try other sweets. Loved their French bulldog decor too!!!
Cafe latte, Salted Caramel brownie and Mini Caramel tarts were amazing. The subtle caramel really hit the spot. However, the Macarons were too sweet. My sweet threshold is greater than a lot of people and even I found these Macarons (Blueberry Cheesecake and Cafe Au Laittoo sweet.
Eclectic decor, great coffee and easy ambiance!Pastries are ok, as the quality does not compare to that of real French patisseries.
Awesome place! Good food and coffee and quirky items everywhere. Very cool ambience!
One of the cutest most adorable bakeries. Love the ambiance and the decor. All the items I have tried so far have been absolutely delicious. 😋
Loved my visit to Alelies today! Savannah took GREAT care of us and we are loving what we are about to indulge in. The back patio seating area has a realxing water feature and many beautiful potted plants. We didnt have any sandwiches today but the ones I saw come out of the kitchen looked great.
Great spot for desserts. Known for their salted caramel brownies so we had to try them and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Really good! We also got some of their other desserts and it was delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness . Highly recommend for your sweet cravings.
Love the new location! Food is much better in my opinion. Staff is really friendly and the decor is so eclectic and eye catching. Great spot for meetings, brunch or a change in scenery for those who work from home. I was impressed. Definitely check it out if you’re in NoDa
Amazing sweet place!! Difficult to choose 🤣🤣🤣 You never disappoints if you come here
New location! Same great pastries, coffee and more. The decor is just beautiful! Service was wonderful!
I really appreciate Amelies late hours. I wish more places opened late in Charlotte. Their pastries are good although a bit overpriced. Love the large dining room...but they could make it less bright, feels like cafeteria lighting. When we went there was only ONE person helping people with pastries and another person who is standing idly waiting to ring people up. The line is ridiculously slow.
If I could give 6/5 stars, I would! This place was amazing, from the food to the staff to the interior design, everything. We had the croque monsieur, the strawberry petit gâteau, and the salted caramel brownie, and they were all outstanding.
I loved the original location - I had been going there for about 10 years. It was fun, cozy, and cool. The new location feels like a cafeteria. They obviously tried to capture the magic of the original, but the authentic quirkiness has been replaced with a corporate, manufactured quality. Its almost like a Disneyland version of the original. But what else can you expect in Charlotte? Some people may enjoy this vibe but if you liked the style of their OG location I can almost guarantee you will feel put off.Food is still good, service is still friendly, but other than that... This was a mistake.
I think it’s very cute. It’s in a nice area and the staff is friendly and welcoming, they’re so sweet. I’d definitely visit here again.
We just moved to Charlotte and the first place we visited was this bakery!!! It serves variety of different yummy options and also has great interiors
The best pecan pie tarts on earth. Thank you! Plus the blueberrie muffins are perfect! They come with pie crumble on top. Never disappointed with this place.
I cannot say enough great things about this place!!!My wife has celiac and they had GREAT gluten free pastry options! We tried one of each flavor of their macaroons and they were simply incredible! We also tried a latte and a lemonade. Both drinks were exceptional!Long story short, if you are anywhere near NoDa, give this place a try!
AMAZING!!! Staff was so kind. They helped us decide what to get. They recommended all the macaroons and any type of croissants. I got the pistachio macaroon and cinnamon twist and they both were amazing. Also tried the chicken salad sandwich and it was fantastic.
Today was my first time at Amélies French Bakery, and I know for a fact it wont be my last. From the moment I walked in, I was excited. There were so many delights to choose from, from tarts to macaroons and macarons, and so much more. The service was great and the staff was more than willing to describe flavors and help pick new favorites. Each dessert was light, perfectly crunchy and pack with a perfect sweetness. If youre in NODA and in need of a sweet treat, check them out!
Amelie’s is much more than pastries and dessert’s. Their spinach asparagus soup and mandarin and goat cheese salad is my favorite lunch. I always add salmon for extra protein. Their food is made fresh daily and exceptional!
Wonderful pastry. My favorite drink its their Chai tee. It is a good place to meet with friends, clients or study.
Delicious!! Really nice place for tasty desserts. It’s great if you want light breakfast Sandwiches with a cup of coffee. Build your own sandwich is a great option they have. Try the mixed berry, the key lime tarts, and espresso entremetThis place is also great for photographers. Literally every corner is different and unique in decorationPeople there are polite and helpful. Jay is super nice
I consistently have great experiences hereThe pastries are top notch but so is the food and hot beverage menu. I think the prices are good for the value despite what other reviewers have noted. Macarons are a tricky item to perfect, so the price is fair imo. French pastry is a specialty, its not going to be the same price as your local grocery store bakery. The sandwiches are actually better priced than many other delis Ive tried in Charlotte. The drinks are about the same as other independent coffee shops.I also dont understand the reviews mentioning lack of options. The case is always well stocked no matter when I go. Maybe Im just easy to please after experiencing the French bakery in Memphis that had maybe a 3 baguettes and 2 eclairs if you went after 2pm.The decor is unique and fits the theme well. I like that there is plenty of seating
1/7/2020Homemade Yogurt, Ham & Gruyere Tartine, Mini Chocolate Raspberry Mousse, Chocolate Croissant, Strawberry Cream Cheese Danish, Salted Caramel Brownie- You have to go here NOW! AMAZING! Napoleon! Tonight we went again...more photos from after Queen concert. Yummy- 8/24/19. Open 24 hours. We were there at 1240am. It was packed.1/6/2022Still one of my favorite places to celebrate and eat with family and friends.
Absolutely love this place! Everything was delicious, including my croissant and coffee. The energy here is very upbeat and welcoming, it’s friendly and warm and fun. There’s a lot of seating and so many different kinds of baked goods! I really like this place and I definitely plan to come back!
Gluten free macaroons, salted caramel brownie, and chocolate mouse (our favorite out of the 3& many other non-gf items. Chill atmosphere to check your email & relax with friends or have a business meeting.
Parking was easy! The staff was friendly but the line was very long just to order. There is a good amount of seating and the wi-fi was fast. The food took about 45 minutes for this one sandwich. It was good but if it is going to take so long, the price should come down a bit. Also, you just have to wait at the counter for your name to be called for your order. This is quite ineffective when the food takes so long to come out. I wasnt asked if my order was take out or not and it was packaged to go....and it STILL took 45 minutes.Still, Ive heard such good things about this place and it had a good vibe. Ill just eat elsewhere before coming here. Also, Im vegan and there were very limited options.
If youre looking for a place to go grab something sweet after a meal and just sit down with friends while enjoying a sweet treat.. this is the place. They have food options as well but havent tried it yet. I didnt give it a five star because one of the workers werent super nice and was a little snappy. I also wish there was more pastry options too. The macaroons were delicious and the cheese cake (Amelies stylewas different and good. The layout was beautiful inside as well. Lots of unique chandeliers and pictures on the wall.
Absolutely loved my breakfast today💕❤️I was surprised by the 6k+ reviews to a bakery and tried to give it a try first thing in the morning. I have ordered for a Fruit tart, mini mixed berry tart and an Entremet which were finely layered and perfectly incredible at taste. The Entremet was full of surprises..it starts with a red cherry glaze on the top which when digged in, a white caramel cheese creamy mousse appears and then when further digged in, comes up the pineapple flavoured cream which was totally lovely. 👌People were friendly inside but we need wait in a long line to get the taste of these goodies. But all along the line you will find different pictures and decorations which will keep you busy watching. All together this bakery gave me a pretty good start for the day💯A must try one.👍
Disappointingly MedicoreThis our second time to Amelies for pastries after many insisted that this location was better and my opinion has not changed. Its not bad, but its not great. We got a mini key lime tart, mini mirror tart, mini lemon raspberry tart, mini mouse cup, coconut cream macaron, coffee macaron, pistachio macaron, mixed berry macaron, palmier, and twice baked chocolate croissant. Our favorite was the palmier. The macarons have great texture, but lack a shiny top and real depth of flavor. The key lime and lemon tarts could be tangier. The chocolate croissant lacked a lot in texture. We also ordered an iced latte that was not made well and took forever to get.Would return in the morning to try a croissant again when they are fresh, but otherwise would probably skip the "pretty" items.
This is a great find. There are so many wonderful looking things, I didnt know what to choose. I ended up taking a cinnamon twist and it was ok. The others in my party had a cinnamon bun, a pecan bun thingy and a pain chocolat, all of which they said were great. Service was a little disorganized, but was polite and helpful. Prices were quite good.
Goodies were good but no waoo. Only take out and seating in the middle of the sun in some picnic tables. The staff seemed to be in a hurry to get rid of you quickly. Could not try the coffee because the line was like 20 people and not moving. Never felt so hurried when buying pastries. Weird for the rush as they were not too many people at that time in the line for pastries.
Excellent pastries at a very good price. We preferred 7 the first time we went. Get the Napoleon, vanilla eclair, and fruit tarts. They were delicious. Well be back for more.
This place would be so great if they could figure out a safe way to return to dine in service like other restaurants, instead of offering a dirty parking lot experience. Excellent coffee, great food, exquisite pastries. Indoor atmosphere looks cool too. Hope to eat indoors there some day!
Really interesting vibes here, and quite like the artsy french theme. Service was quite friendly, albeit a bit slow, it took about 15 min of waiting to have my order delivered, and all I needed made was a breakfast sandwich (another customer next to me also remarked the same). In all I ordered a latte, chocolate and almond croissant and a breakfast sandwich. The sandwich, once it arrived, was quite fresh & tasty, well presented and a reasonable value at $8(I had sausage, spinach and cheddar on a baguette). The almond croissant was excellent, bursting with sweet almondy goodness and flavor; the chocolate croissant not so much. The choc croissant was a bit disappointing, and I should have known as it was the only item in the display case completely full and untouched. It was small, had too much air, and not enough chocolate; I wouldnt recommend. The latte was average, nothing amazing, bit not terrible either(although a little expensive for my tastes given how small and average it was)All in all, not a bad experience..I would return for a sandwich or almond croissant if nearby for sure! And some of the other baked items looked worthy of a try as well!
