Ambala Chowdreys Restaurant - South Asian restaurant in Bradford, United Kingdom
I went shopping another day and I forgot a shopping bag at the packing store, I got home and called the store and the manager was wearing glasses, he told me that his shopping bag is here and when I went to look at the store, the bag disappeared, they are very lying, scammer
Mouth watering flavours good portions super value
Been going there for over 25 years. Always loved their samosas and Falooda. Most their food is nice. The Asian sweets (mitthaiare the Best in UK, made by Ambalas. Well recommend it.
Best curry in Bradford by far 😍
Very rude staff unprofessional, loyal customers come out to eat and enjoy food and dine here and staff speak to us with attitude after we commented on the food quality being poor
I love fish very delicious and staff is very friendly 😋
Got it abit later than 45 minutes but what a wait the curry was lovely very nice
Really nice staffs especially Junaid, top quality food and these guys deserve a full 5 stars 🌟
Not worth of even one * big mistake never come back or recommend anyone stay away thanks
Samosay and the chutney used to be really nice, meat doesn’t taste good and could use more flavour. The chutney has changed, the old recipe was the best. Falooda’s worth it!
Absolutely amazing.. Real authentic Asian cuisine.. Good customer service and lovely environment & decor.. Great selection of food, starters were superb and mains straight to point. And most importantly the Best Floodah in Bradford by far. Would highly recommend this place always.
Customer service none existent!Main food came without cutlery!Expected to scoop off with hands.Had to constantly get up from dining area to the main counter to ask for assistance.Food taste has gone down hill massively. Was a regular years ago.Would avoid and not recommend.Waiters had the audacity to argue back when complaining of poor customer service.
I have been a customer for over 10 years. I went in with family only for staff to ignore me at first. When i did catch a waiters eye i asked for a table. The waiter had a face like thunder and threw the menus on the table. He was putting a baby chair away which he slid across the floor barely missing my wife. That was enough for us to walk straight back out. We were going to pay for the food and service. We didnt want it for free!!! All people want is some nice food with a certain standard of service. Sort it out ambala !!!
One of the best food at Bradford certainly recommend others to taste the delicacy
Nice little restaurant in Bradford. Chicken karahi is always spot on.
Ambala ,has got to be the best resturant in Bradford .We order nearly every week from here ,The chicken Tikka Masala is the best dish so authentic, thick tasty sauce ,delicious .If youre a vegetarian you must try their Alloo gobi (potato and Spinich )its so tasty .The owner and his son are lovely polite people .Highly recommended
I came all the way from London to try this place out after seeing a video by enkhans who rated this place so u thought it must be good. I was up north on a trip so thought it would be rude not to try it out.Ordered food and it came 1 hour later, didn’t order anything complicated, mix grills and burgers for the kids, the service was so slow. When the food did come it was average, tasted like any other kebabish or grill type place. The workers seemed like they didn’t want to work, you would stand at the till and the workers would pretend they couldn’t see you. There was no sense of urgency.Overall I was disappointed with the experience and food and I wouldn’t go back again.
A regular customer of Ambala for mithai and halwa but today I was not very happy with the service. Walked in with my mother to buy some mithai for a special occasion but was ignored by all the staff for 5 minutes, I greeted them and asked if everything was okay, still had blank faces. Afterwards one staff member who was serving the tables did get to us and he was then pulled away to serve again. The person on the tills started talking to us and again walked away. After 10-15 minutes we were finally served properly. Not very happy with the service today, was very close to walking out and going to yaadgaar. My mum was not happy with the way the tin was packed and had to repack everything at home as it was to be given for a special occasion.
When I went to Ambala, I had really high hopes but unfortunately mithai standard wasnt good, it felt it was old mithai with not much variety.
The server with glasses behind the counter has dirty attitude. Cant even speak English properly and thinks hes Lord of Bradford!!
Visited the place last Sunday, was told to wait 30 min for paan and asked for falooda and they didn’t even put basil seeds In. Service wasn’t great at all .
2 stars for experience and surroundings. Hygiene could have been better, dirty table and spoons needed wiping.Tea was English tea even though I asked for chai. 2 out of the 3 desserts were nice though.average price for 3 desserts and 2 tea.
Horrible food Currys no taste not friendly staff recommend by Mr munchbox tiktok
I been there many times and I had kulfi falooda its really nice
Great food and fantastic customer service if any issues
Good food poor service need more service staff or be quite
Ordered large karahi gosht n gosht karele, was bad enough our food came out after 50mins (eventhough it was 30% full and we were starving after fasting all daythe food was substandard and the karele raw chucked in and not fried. Heard alot of good things about em so came, wont be going back again though.
The best chicken steak could eat it everyday only thing is I wish you got more haha 😂 great restraunt and takeaway
Really disappointed yesterday when my son went to get Samoses and seekh kebabs they were bland no flavour the samoses were so oily with no taste no flavour at all. Wish I hadn’t got food from there now. Big mistake I made. Never recommend it to anyone at all. I’ve tasted good better from other places. They are going downhill now. Wish I could get my money back or refund or something. 👎👎
All the curries ive tried is tasteless and shami kebab is rubbish toi
Delicious, delicious sweets. Quality and taste superb.Very nice and professional staff.
Visited the restaurant three times the first two times the food was exellent. Third time the was busy and the food was not the same as previous visits.
Really good food. The Chicken tikka karahi masala and Rogan Josh are particularly good paired with a roti or two.
Nice clean shop. Went there late evening for a strong cup of tea and a sweet dish.Great on both departments.Well done lads. Thank you
Ordered paan as a treat for the family, bit was told to wait 30 mins, ended up arriving and waiting for them to be made. They looked so mediocre, he didnt wash the leaves or his hands and he was the manager apparently. Mr. Manager also decided to wipe nose on sleeve while customers are watching him make the paan. Really disappointed with the service and experience.
One of the most famous and small iconic restaurants in Bradford. Great food, reasonably priced and very friendly staff. Repeat visit a must.
Been going here 15 years , used to be elite!! A family favourite! Don’t know who’s in charge ?? Get ya sen to La la’s29th January…. That in itself is disgusting that you have taken so long to reply! Excuse me !….. I’ve never been to your restaurant as fore mentioned I’ve been getting curry’s and sweets from this establishment for 15 years and all I can say is WOW! The food has gone downhill big time and such a shame if I’m honest?! We used to look forward to our weekly treat takeaway!!
Good choice of dessert. We tried Kulfa that was my friend favorite.
Tasteless pakora, very hot due to high red Chillies. Samosa Chaat was the worst ever tasted. Ambala has definitely slipped to very low standards. Assistant answering phones whilst serving customers...
Very poor customer service. This worker was bossing a younger worker to clean the counter tops. They removed the protective plastic screens. They were not wearing a mask. The foolish worker then flung the items I had paid for onto another counter. No manners or ettiques. Should not be cleaning counter tops when customers are in store.
Food is good quality service is realy good
Service was good but food was below average i dont understand since when we add green peas in biryani . And pls if summer is there you should service your aircon before that instead of telling customer you dont have fan or aircon in that particular area you should sit somewhere else if you want aircon or fan !
Average quality food with good quality Sweets. This was recommended from friends, but apart from lamb chops no other item was special.Lastly I hope they adhere to national policy of wearing face masks which was missing completely.
I was welcomed in what do you want manners by a young lady, 3 members of staff, all sat very close to each other in restaurant without wearing their masks.I orderd my food and the bill totalling £10.40. I paid using debit card for which they charged me 50p additional fee (illegal since 2018).I tried question if it was a new policy as in past, I have paid as little as £3.50 in the same shop. Absolutely no comment is made.I must state, the whole conversation was politely conducted from my part and at no time I raised voice or used derogatory term.Remember 3 members of staff, all were sat in the restaurant???One of whom (the owneris behind the counter at this point, another is stood on the step (as you enter restaurantroughly 2 meters away and 3rd one is stood by the door, right behind me about 1 meter away. The looks I got from all 3 was like I had asked for a share in their personal property. And basically all ready to launch at me.My feelings at the time, Scared, threatened, intimidated, assaulted through their conduct or perhaps i got robbed through illegal charge.Staff are arrogant, food is tasteless BUT the choices around the area are immense.Wish if I could give them minus star(s).
Good value mains. Starters arent special. But the mains are on point and their naans are good too. Any space left and you gotta try their falooda.*edit* recently went again during 50% eat out to help out - place was clean- ordered meat karahi and chicken with chana, was a little mild for me (asked for mediumnext time will ask to be made hotter. The chicken pakora starter was suitable for kids and my daughter enjoyed it. I thought lamb boti starter was overdone/dry and needed more marinade.
Was recommended this place and what a restaurant. Been coming for just over a year and what a great variety of Asian food. I do a lot of travelling and eating out and believe me when I say best in Bradford. The starters are fantastic love the fish and Mixed Grill comes out in a hot sizzler plate. The mains are great the best biryanis and Chicken Spinach the best in town with the naans. So soft and fluffy. The falooda trust me the BEST!!! Fresh always hits the spot. Always look after me on special occasions, catering food with restaurant quality
Best place ever for eating in Bradford for quality and value ... tops can’t say anymore

Catering food at restaurant quality. See you Saturday lads.
I always feel weird going in there staff not very welcoming not good service from when you order the food to when you pay for your food. Have to force the staff to get you items not on table, staff looks like they been forced on the job, boss just sits their smirking at others and checking his phone every 2 minutes very un-professional service. Although starters are good, main course could be improved and questioning the customer in what type of curry or of mild or how they want it could be done. Also only one waiter running around like a loony more staff is needed on the serving keep these points in check and can go a long way.
I was recommended this place as apparently it served good desi tea. I entered and was greeted by a rough “what do you want”. Placed my order for desi tea and a Ferrero rocher gateau. 20 minutes later, the desi tea arrived with half of it spilling out the cup before it landed on the table. The tea tasted bitter even though I asked for 2 sugars (they probably forgot about those). The gateau magically transformed into a milkshake on the table. When questioned about this, they assured me that I ordered the wrong thing and that they don’t serve this gateau. I clearly pointed the gateau on their menu and the young staff member then told me it’s out of stock and to order something different. As nothing else looked appetising and I wanted to leave asap, I asked for a refund which was given to me in old pound coins and a handful of copper coins.
