Amal Women's Training Center - Guéliz - Restaurant in Marrakech, Morocco
If theyre on the menu, get chicken seffa and a white chocolate dessert. Pair them with a mint tea.
Everything we tried was excellent. The service too was very pleasant. So uplifting to see women from disadvantaged families getting the training to enter the F&B industry and the emotional support of the group.
The best lamb shank and couscous I’ve had while in Morocco. My expectations were low as I thought it was “just a training center.” It was actually the most creative cooking of couscous and use of almonds and dried fruits. The chocolate mousse was not as airy as I expected but quite an original take and paired quite well with the fresh mint leaves.
We came across this restaurant on most of the list of restaurants to try in Marrakech geared towards tourists. And it deserves its spot on all of those. The vegetarian gratin and the tajine was one of the best we tried so far in Marrakech. Also try the lemon juice it they have it ( nothing like it to beat the heat)!
Fantastic service, top notch food, an oasis away from the bustle of the medina, calm, tranquil, heartwarming. An amazing cause also, the tarte de chocolate et pomme was magnificent!
Not only does Amal offer some of the best and most authentic food in Marrakech, they are doing amazing things to empower local women. Good food with a good cause.
Great place for a snack or lunch. Welcoming and relaxed environment, the menu is updated daily and all super fresh.
Wonderful lunch. Fantastic experience. The couscous taginge was huge and the lemonade with mint was life changing.
We went their in 2019 during our first trip to Morocco and again this year, in May. The food is absolutely delicious, definitely one of the best meals we had in Marrakesh. Definitely worth trying for the food and work they do.
Great food, nice garden and friendly staff! I definitely recommend it :)
One of the best meals we have had in Marrakesh! The stuffed calamari and lamb tagine were so flavorful and well-prepared. Everything we had was delicious, the service was excellent and the prices were low! Would definitely come back again!
I had a delicious salad and fresh lemon with mint in a lovely patio garden.
We visited this place back in 2020 and Im so glad to see its still doing well based on other reviews because it made a great impression on me.They unfortunately didnt have the main dishes anymore at the time of our visit but the creamy beet soup we had here is still one of the best soups Ive tried till this day. The tea and the biscuits were delicious too. If we ever come back to Marrakesh, well definitely try to visit this place again 🧡
Terrific Couscous, very nice service and a beautiful garden, totally recommended!
Absolutely not to be missed if youre anywhere in the area! We had an exceptionally delicious lunch here and recommend it highly.
Delicious Moroccan dishes and lemonade. They accept cards. Prices are inexpensive (around €4-6 for a dish). Big portions. The girls speak English which is helpful. The place to eat outside is beautiful! It’s better to come early (at around 12.30-13.00), otherwise you run a chance that there would be not much options to choose from.
Yes, a great place for dining and helping women learn and develop the knowledge and skills needed for personal success. The fish was the best that Ive had.
Great place and great cause. I came for lunch shortly after opening at noon and was sat right away. Couscous and Juice were delicious. Couscous only cost 40dh which is a steal!Highly recommend! Staff was very sweet and service was fast.
A delicious lunch, gracious, friendly hospitality and a beautiful courtyard setting - - so much to ❤️ about our meal @AmalTrainingCenter. Their mission offers guests an exceptional meal @ real value. Highly recommend!
The best meal we’ve had in Marrakech! We went on Friday for couscous and we’re blown away. The courtyard is lovely, the staff are kind, and the food is delicious. Portions are huge, so it may be worth sharing, but we were happy to contribute to this organization. The mint lemonade was outstanding as well. We’ll be back!
Amazing food, good service, a worthy organisation, what more can I say but a must visit when in Marrakesh
Amal WTC is truly a place of “Hope”! Their concept of empowering women through professional training is courageous and exciting and their attention to detail really shows. The setting is a gorgeous calm respite from the busy city streets, the staff is friendly and ready to share their story and mission, and the food is as delicious as it is beautiful! Excellent Americano coffee and my To Go order was ready super fast. The Veggie Tagine and fruit and veggie bowl were so YUMMY! Love the vegan options. I was delighted to meet many of the staff and the founder, this is definitely a place I would revisit, I can’t wait to bring friends and dine in the lovely shady courtyard.
Had a lovely meal here, so casual and comfortable in the garden! The day we went they had a choice of 3 delicious tajines on offer with a fantastic pickle condiment, we had an almond tart for dessert and the pastry in it was excellent. The juice - lemon mint was just stunning..and the carrot orange was also very good! Super efficient and friendly service. Lots of locals there. The host managed to squeeze us in for an hour but said to make reservation on the website especially for Fridays.
This is a very nice and cozy place I recommend for a good lunch - The food is great, its fresh; the service is impeccable; the ladies there are super nice, vibrant, joyful, they sing together at the end to celebrate a good and productive day - I had a very pleasant experience, and at the same time you are supporting many single mothers who do not receive any other financial support.
Fabulous concept and a great cause. Training under privileged women in the food and beverage business and they serve a daily menu cooked by the students. Great food and lovely atmosphere.
Love this place!! The day we went, they only served couscous. Honestly, the best couscous we’ve had during our stay in Marrakesh. The portions are quite generous. The homemade juices were amazing!! We had orange and carrot and the other was lime. The service was wonderful. We were lucky to get a table without reservation. The lady at the front squeezed us in between two reservations so we only had one hour to eat but it was sufficient. 100% recommend this place even if it’s a bit far but it’s definitely worth it!
Nice place to have lunch at, menu is short but dishes are very tasty, suitable for vegetarians too
Supporting a good cause and filling up on tasty, local cuisine. Good value and quality. Highly recommended.
We went to the Amal womens trading centre on Friday, which is the cous cous day and we ordered the lamb cous cous. It was delicious!!
3.5 stars for food, the extra 0.5 stars for the lovely setting. This is a lovely place to have lunch overall. The food was not amazing but good for the price, and it supports a great non profit business empowering women. Our food is pictured, the desserts were delicious and everything else was decent except the rice salad which was a bit weak. Service is not great, the staff are trying but there was only 1 waitress who took food orders and the place was busy! In total, our meal was approx £20 (250 Dirhamsfor two. Courtyard and orange trees are lovely.
Best marrocain dishes we had during our stay here. Super friendly service and the terrace was just awesome. We would even give more stars if possible!
Very friendly personnel and we ate one of the most delicious couscous Ive tried in Marrakech (after 1 year and a half living here).
Simply fantastic both in terms of the food, the staff and their mission. Food is excellent, with lunches busier (so book aheadand offering great appetizer salads, and wonderful fish, lamb and goat tagines (we went multiple times!), with fresh juices (mango, peach), and lemonades (lemon/mint). Breakfasts somewhat deserted (we went twice and were the only ones there), which is a shame as they are equally good and their fresh baked cakes/desserts (yes for breakfast!were wonderful. Prices are exceptional for freshly cooked, tasty, well spiced and great quality food. That, together with the mission of empowering women (see their website for details), make it a place I highly recommend.
This was a lovely meal. We went during Ramadan so had Iftar meal (the breaking of the fast meal at sunset). The price was reasonable (160 DH so about $15 USD / each when we traveledfor all you can eat.Staff served soup, salad, breads, little savory pastries, a braised lamb dish, a chicken & rice dish, cake, and a raspberry pudding. There were some tiny honey-cheese tarts that were my favorite. They also had water and different juices. The meal was outside in a pretty patio area. And it all goes to a good cause. Highly recommend!
A wonderful place for lunch! This is a lovely spot ,r un by socially disadvantaged ladies who work really hard and are professional and efficient. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
The most amazing and special place. Loved coming here and learning about the incredible work the NFP is doing to empower women in Morocco and create equal opportunity for them. Added bonus the food is beautiful, you’ll meet like minded people and you’ll be giving back to the community. Make sure you add this to the list. If you’re coming from central Medina. Get a taxi for 50dh
From all the reastaurants weve visited in Marrakech this one was deffinetly the best. They change their menu each day to make sure what they offer will be surved fast and with fresh ingredients. Everything was clean and the prices were reasonable.
This restaurant gets 5 stars for both its food and mission- to help underserved women develop vocational skills. We enjoyed the vegetable tagine and pastilla but the lentil soup stole the show.
Simple yet very tasty lunch, made and served by women working for the Amal association, helping them being financially independent or supporting them through difficult times in their life. Setting was lovely, staff friendly, service quick, 100% recommend!
Wonderful place. Peaceful seating with great service. The food tastes fresh and so full of flavour.
Nice food and very friendly staff, it was fresh and delicious with quick service. Have in mind they accept tips and donations only in cash so don’t forget to bring it
Excellent food and ambience. Suggest you get advance reservation to get quick seating. We arrived without reservation so had to wait a bit.Food is fixed menu which changes daily. This is a non profit cooperative for women which was also very impressive for my wife and me.
We did a cooking class here. This was the best food i had in marrakech. we picked our own herbs from the garden for tea. We made three different tagines from scratch. The women who run this are brilliant.
This place is highly recomendable. The association helps vulnerably women who dosnt have a lot of opportunities in a society like the maroccian. And they do it in a sustainable way. And, not to forget, the cooking class I took part in, the result was some of the best food I had in Marocco!Thank you for that experience and good luck to you heroes who makes it happen.
Amazing experience!!! Please please please support this amazing cause. Decor and ambience was superb and welcoming. Food was so well presented and tasty. Service was impeccable. Wish we hadnt discovered it on our last day, so we could come back again.
Cozy place to have lunch and for a good cause. The women working here are pleasant and nice. The reply from the table booking was fast. I do wish they post the menu of dish theyre serving on the web. I am here on Friday and the dish of the day are couscous (not a big fan of couscous and would choose to come another day had I known that only couscous are served today). They also serve coffee and pastries here which unfortunately I did not try as I didnt know about it until I got to the counter to pay. Overall a pleasant dining experience in the courtyard. The washroom are clean. The wifi did not work during my visit.
We loved our cooking class! We even brought our young daughter and everyone was so sweet to her, she wanted to go back the next day. If you have time, you should definitely book a class.
I just finished a cooking class here and the people are absolutely wonderful. The food was incredible. And I have a newfound appreciation of tagine. Thank you Amal. Will come back.
Weve ordered a Tajin of vegetables (second picture), Tajin of meet (dont remember if was lamb, dear...), a mix of avocado and shrimps (dont remember the name, but is the picture with the crystal glass), and a salad with a crunchy rectangular paste filled with white cheese and yellow cheese. All was amazing, but my favorite dishes were the Tajin of meet and the salad <- the best one!... Almost forgot, theyve putted some olive, green and black, seasoned with garlic and other spices, very good to eat with bread.
Good food, good price. I found here thanks to tripadvisor.
