Polish, Hungarian & Austrian fare served in an old-world cafe with live classical music on weekends.
I tried to eat here twice when they were open, and both times I was given an excuse why I could not be seated. I will continue to go to other Eastern European restaurants where they want my business than to try to go back.
This one’s been on the must try list for sometime and had high hopes.Unfortunately , it fell a little (b)flat, God forgive my Dad jokes?A place with a solid reputation and quite a few accolades in the early 2010”s, the food is Middle European with a nod to Poland. The decor is eclectic mix of its namesake Amadeus Mozart and what appears to be the owners travels.A-Service- There were only two waiters and they did their next to stay on top of the approximately 12 tables and were friendly. They even served us before our reservation time.C-Decor- as stated it’s an eclectic mix of an homage to the classical composer to brass instruments with sticks coming out of the end. Also for some reason an odd red velvet veil covered entrance , flanked on both sides by overflowing house plants.Definitely dated , not necessarily my style but some might really like it.C-Food-We were really looking forward to generous portions and hearty, rich , hot food and we were left a little disappointed. While it was good ,it wasn’t great! I had the Krakow Chicken and it was fine but lacked the rich depth of flavor you expect for Eastern/ Middle European food and it was also luke warm. The Chicken paprikash was delicious however but once again served just warm.God effort but were expecting better from solace that’s so revered.C-Price/Value-2 entrees, a cup of soup and an appetizer with one glass of wine was just under $90.00 ( with tip). Was this a rip off? No.Was it worth it and would we return?Afraid not.Summation- While this charming little restaurant rightfully deserved some of its press and accolades over the years i’m thinking that it’s best days are probably behind it now.Good food and an odd eclectic ambience at an Ann Arbor premium , has its places. If you are interested check it out but i wouldn’t line up.OptionsHungarian RhapsodyMezgers
GO HERE!!! OMG great food, BEST service. Michael was amazing! I was blown away by how great this place is. Everything is fresh and you can tell they put love into their food. Portions are a large size and you cant complain about the price.
Cozy, charming restaurant with delicious Eastern-European food and attentive service.
This place is so quaint w good food. The interior has so much stories to tell you about ann arbor :I recommend this place
Delicious Polish food! The meat, pierogi, fish are as authentic as it gets.
I loved every detail in this restaurant.. it felt like a little piece of Europe.. i got the dill pickle soup and the polish plate.. the taste was amazing! Our waiter Michael was great and very knowledgable of the menu and food selection.
Food was ok, i d say few days old, 60% authentic let’s say. Server was probably tired, Will not pick on that, because in this econ we are lucky people are still willing to work. Maybe could have offer us desert, just seems like he wished we were not there or We’d leave faster. The bill: a sloppy hand written note, no actual receipt.
Amazing atmosphere. Great place to dine at
Went for Saturday lunch with a large group of people. Michael, our server was attentive and friendly. Everyone’s food was delicious and came out in a timely matter. Will definitely be back!
Good food but the portions were a little small for the price
Pretty decent polish and Austrian food... You should know what to expect if you want here. It isnt going to be more than that, but still tasty.
My husband brought me home carry out . I got the grilled kielbasa , and it was delicious ! The potatoes that came with it (red skin there was TWO small sliced pieces 😳 , 3 grilled onions (my husband had to point out where they were loland the salad that came with it was really half a side salad . AND all this was $19 🤯I think we’ll stick with polish Village in the future.
Had an early dinner before a show at The Ark. Four of us dined and found the food to be delightful. Collectively we enjoyed the food, the ambiance, and especially our waiter Michael. He was very polite and attentive to our needs. Highly recommend Amadeus.
This restaurant is one of my top favorite places in Ann Arbor. The ambience of this restaurant is phenomenal and the decoration inside is antique with many beautiful artifacts. It is a polish style restaurant where you could find variety of food and desserts. Have visited this place multiple times and will go again if I get chance. Highly recommended place and you will never regret spending money there for good food and great environment.
Made a reservation over 6 mos. ago for our daughters graduation dinner. They booked it in their "paper" reservation book and then somehow lost the reservation when they changed books. This we "lost" our reservation and had a terrible time finding another restaurant on the night after her graduation. NOT COOL, DONT RECOMMEND YOU PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS!!!
Wanted some goulash and reddit led me here. The were booked out for grad weekend but let me in at a small table.Food: 4/5: Started me out with two very delicious warm soft rolls that had a great crust, and a salad that felt about as good as a packaged salad but it was “free” so can’t really complain. It was mostly fresh with a couple wilted leaves. The goulash was excellent. The meat was flavorful and super tender, the sauce also super flavorful and the perfect consistency. However the egg noodles were overcooked for my liking, because they were a little mushy they didn’t offer as much of a texture difference as they could have. I wonder if they prepped them a while ago and by sitting warm they cooked more than they intended. The desert was blueberry cheesecake it was more cake than cheese. However the blueberry filling tasted great and fresh and the crust paired really wells with the mascarpone. As a pleasant surprise it was plated beautifully and with very fresh blueberries and sliced strawberries. All of it tasted great together.Service was great: 5/5 didn’t bug me too much but still kept my water full, was very polite and kind. I received my food in less than 10 minutes after ordering.Atmosphere: 5/5 a little dim, no harsh direct lighting but several of those fake candle chandeliers. Lots of cool wood carvings of people and sail boat drawings on some of the walls. An ancient cash register sits on top of the desert display and at the center of the restaurant they had a guitarist playing beautifully. That was the main reason I ordered desert just to listen longer.
The staff are very kind and helpful. The food stands on its own, but combined with the wonderful atmosphere the overall experience is exceptional
Great Eastern European food. Attentive service and fair prices. Excellent coffee and desserts
Cute and intimate spot for dinner, especially the tables in the little alcoves by the front windows. The decor is interesting, so I would recommend taking a walk around to view the wall hangings, old instruments, etc.The food was good. I ordered the Paprikash based on the recommendations online. It was tasty, although I wouldnt order it again. The Bigos is much better, in my purely Polish opinion. I would eat that all day long (watch for Bay leaves). The kielbasa was meaty and not greasy, and the pierogies were fair, but not as good as what we get in Polish restaurants near our home.A single waiter served the entire restaurant, so be patient as it takes time to get through a meal. We were there for two hours, not by choice, but I wont knock a place for that as they were obviously impacted by the pandemic. Our server brought a delicious birthday dessert, a very nice touch. One strange thing that the two women in our party commented on ... the bathroom has a large mirror mounted on the bottom half of the wall, and it seems to be strategically placed so you are looking at yourself while sitting on the commode. Yikes.
Answers the question “can traditional Eastern European food be fine dining?” Also, “why not put salmon on a potato pancake?” Yum!
Great service and overall dining experience. Get the front window seat. Its like you have private dining. Definitely will return.
The manager, Michael, provided phenomenal service. Dinner was delicious and beautifully plated. Dessert was almost too pretty to eat. I highly recommend the lemon torte!
This is my favorite place to eat in Ann Arbor. There is not a bad dish on the menu, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff is great. If you like Eastern European, this is the place!
Always awesome. Great food and great service.. AMAZING desserts - Love the poppy seed cake!
Amazing food & excellent service!
We were in town for a synchronized skating competition and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant while walking through downtown. Very quaint atmosphere and wonderful food. The potato pancakes, pierogi, and goulash were excellent. The selection of European beers is very good and the Napoleon dessert is worth the calories! Service was outstanding as should be expected for a small specialty restaurant like this. Price was very reasonable and the place ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.
We took a large party of varied people here with special diet needs and they did great with everything. Amazing food and service and music.
first off, this may be the cutest restaurant Ive ever seen. second, the food is incredible!!!!! that kielbasa, wowwww!!!!! and the desserts are 5 star! I would go here just for the desserts. Michael was our server and he was lovely and professional. love!!!
Our first time. Had a very nice meal here. The goulash was great. Fresh bread! Other central European dishes on the menu. Check it out!
Fantastic! I ate at Amadeus last night and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Every dish we ordered was delicious, cooked to perfection with wonderful flavors. It was also nice to see everything on the menu was very reasonably priced. The staff was very polite and prompt. We will be going again soon. Thanks for a lovely dinner!
Stumbled upon this little gem walking in Ann Arbor last night with my wife, the food was spectacular! I had a hard time deciding on what to order as everything sounded so appealing. They were unfortunately out of the Salmon Mousse, however everything including the service was on point. We had very pleasant waiter with many suggestions, we will definitely return and recommend!
Wow. I have to say I wasnt expecting how good this place is. The Pierogis are out of this world. I had the pork and mushroom and the sourkraut ones and both were excellent. The pork cutlet was very good especially when paired with some of the best sourkraut, Ive had in a long time. I had to order more kraut. So full. So satisfying.
I had my small wedding dinner at Amadeus and it was just perfect. There was a live musician playing guitar, and the atmosphere was just beautiful. The food was delicious, and gets my Polish familys seal of approval. I heard that the desserts at Amadeus are award winning, and I am not surprised. Everyone in my party tried something different and it was all delicious. Thank you for all the memories Amadeus!
We had reservations for dinner until the ban hit inside dining again. We changed it to a to go order. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, from messaging on Facebook, to phone calls and in person on pick up.Food was delicious! Really wish we could have eaten in versus having to drive nearly 30 with it.We had the pierogi appetizer, salads, dinner rolls, 4 different entrees and ending with 4 different desserts. It was great to be able to try different things. We had the Hungarian Pancakes, Budapest Pancakes, Goulash and Grilled Kielbasa; Raspberry Passion Fruit Mousse, Chocolate Gateau, Roasted Hazelnut Torte and Lemon Torte. Will definitely return!
The best food I have ever ordered to go! Lean Kielbasa, both salads were fresh & crisp. Where do they get the fresh berrys on the desert (hazelnut torte)? Again, the healthiest, tastiest, dinner Ive gotten to go. 20 minutes from when I called. 😊
The place is fantastic, very romantic its great for a date. The food is so delicious that it gives you a warm feeling like if your mom cooked for you, it was that good. The alcachof salad was to die for, my husband order kielbasa and it was superb I had chicken paprikash and its was so good that all i could say was exquisite. The service its a fabulous.Simply a fantastic place one most go.We are definitely going there again
Amadeus has an extremely friendly and accommodating staff. I ordered several items as we love Eastern European and especially Polish food. We loved the kielbasa, sauerkraut, and the dill pickle soup had great flavor. We also really enjoyed the pierogis however, I will say, the stuffed cabbage did not seem fresh and had an odd, maybe old flavor to the pork. It was too dry and the pork filling wasn’t cooked properly as it was a bright pink color. We ordered a Sacher Torte for dessert and that was very delicious. Overall decent, but not our favorite Polish restaurant.
Delicious food and wonderful service in a cute sidewalk setting! We had pierogi, stuffed cabbage, chicken paprikash with potato pancakes, pork cutlet with dumplings in gravy.
Ive now traveled to nearly every country in Europe, with at least 1-2 trips a year but with COVID-19 Id really been missing some European food in my life. Luckily I stumbled upon Amadeus! Their food was great, and plated so eloquently. I loved it! Would definitely visit again.
Amazing service, cozy and unique atmosphere, and food unlike any other place in Ann Arbor, or maybe even Michigan. I would not call this place allergy friendly. They had a guitar player there one night that added to the atmosphere and was truly incredible to watch perform.
The service was top notch, the food was wonderful, and I absolutely love the atmosphere in this place. I had visited Poland earlier in the year, for my birthday I wanted to get a taste of that delicious, hearty food once again, and I was not disappointed. I would have to say the pierogi were my favorite part of the meal, followed by the gołąbki :)
This is an absolutely wonderful restaurant. If you are looking for some exquisite Eastern European food, this is definitely the place to go. This is an authentic restaurant, not some trend-chaser that pretends to be something it isnt. The food is a joy. Try it if youve never been before, and you wont regret it. I recommend the Polish Platter paired with a nice glass of wine and some Chocolate Gateaux for dessert. Well be coming back.
Enjoyed it very much! Quaint atmosphere, a good European feel, nice variety on menu. And the food was quite good!
Oh my!!! Amadeus is lovely!!! We had such a wonderful time and the food was amazing! The service was absolutely perfect, attentive but not intrusive. The pierogies are the best ever. I really recommend the kielbasa. The potato pancake with dill sour cream and caviar was exquisite....and the dessert menu is entrancing...
WOW. Perfect meal and perfect service (Richard). From the wine, to the bread, dinner, dessert, and espresso. I couldnt have asked for anything better. Thank you!! I cant wait to come back.
All the best flavor without a heavy carb or greasy footprint. Lovely server and the best dill pickle soup!
I went yesterday after the Homecoming game and was immediately seated by the staff. The atmosphere was lovely and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the dill pickle soup and the dinner portion of potato schnitzel. My family ordered the goulash and the paprikash. Everything was wonderful! Id love to go back and try more. Thank you.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Live classical guitar. Definitely with a trip.
A great unique A2 dinner experience! Great service & tasty eastern European food in a small unique atmosphere. They have several great sampler plates for dinners & the desserts was amazing, definitely save some room!
