Privilege
Its good to walk along the beach, during the winter.
Amazing place for a great walk. You can feel the fresh breeze everywhere. Food, fish n chips nearby. Come on weekend for a family picnic, swimming.
MoreA good place, but it needs more attention and care... it can be done for them and it will be more exciting and beautiful
MoreBest location for family fun
Loved this place. Walk, run, bike. Clean and beautiful space for even rainy days.
MoreCan have a strong smell of seaweed from beach on some days but still a great place to go.
MoreThe Pier has for some reason been closed off a third of the way for a few years now. But visually it look great especially with the sun setting behind it.
MorePlease people you need to visit this place its just the best ,it takes away your stress , it makes you forget about everything , its just the best. Also if you want fish and chips here you must try the blue shop on the main esplanade its one of the best , its the shop on the corner were its normally blocked on the esplanade. Please try it.ALL THE BROADMEADOWS FISH CHIP PLACES TAKE NOTICE THEY ARE FAR BETTER, THEY PUT YOU LOT TO SHAME.
MoreBeautiful Altona beach and Pier. Once the old Pier is demolished it will all change. See it while you can. Mornings are best
MoreAs this is not a hot place for tourists, it is more comfortable for local families to enjoy beachside life
MoreGreat beach, very good location with access to café walking distance.Parking is acceptable, but busy at weekends.Nice playground and toilet facilities. Can fish at the pier and saw teens enjoying jumping off the pier for fun, though dangerous
MoreMain public pier between Werribee South and Port Melbourne. The original timber pier at Altona was built in the late 1800s, with significant repair works carried out in the 1950s.The pier is nearing the end of its design, and work is in progress to replace it in 2023 as part of the Victorian Government’s construction blitz. It is popular fishing spot with the locals particularly due to the addition of an artificial reef located about 50 meters after the end of the pier. Nearby cafes attract sizable crowd during the weekends and public holidays and there are range of facilities such as barbeque areas, fresh water fountains, playground and public toilet.Fairly clam sea with small waves and southerly winds, attract kids, paddle boarders and kite surfers. Though the beach is open to dogs, you need to ensure dogs are kept on lead at all times.
MoreUnexpectedly busy, but plenty of room to keep to yourself in Summer. Amazing spot to watch the sunset and the beach was pretty clean considering it was the end of a very hot day
MoreTemporarily closed from about 20 metres from the entrance due to structural issues. According to the Parks Victoria website, they plan to rebuild in late 2022. The rest of the beach is open and still worth visiting.
MoreA lovely walk along the pier, often see fishermen at the end of the pier and close to a nice beach and playground. Shopping strip nearby with ice cream for the kids and cafés.
MoreBeautiful spot spent hours there loved it
Lovely pier at Altona Beach to walk along
Great view of the bay and horizon .Enjoyable walk.
Enjoy the experience at night and on the day! Nice catching up with fishermen and hear their stories!
MoreGreat place to swim. Safe for kids of all ages. Plenty of places to get food, good parking.
MoreHere you always find companion who are there for enjoying the soothing vibes of sea beach. Mostly people came here for swimming and hang around but at fullmoon you will surely dont wanna miss its majestic view.
MoreClean family beach patrolled be lifesavers. Close to shops and amenities.
Great space for a socially distanced run/walk/picnic. All cafes along this strip are doing a great job with covid 19 restrictions and keeping the community safe whilst still providing a yummy service.
MoreAmazing place to enjoy the evening or a sunny day
It’s an okay beach but my least favourite in Melbourne for sure, too smelly and stinky! Good for photos though, love the pine trees but still only two stars out of five at best
MoreThis is a lovely beach and the pier is a great place to walk down to have a taste of the ocean and if you fancy a quick dip into the sea!The beach is clean and there are restaurants very close so if you do get a little hungry, you wont have to go too far.You could easily spend one and a half hours at this place. Its a place to relax!
MoreScenic and beautiful place to spend time with family. Different types of birds are a common sighting (pelican, swan, crane, ducks etc.).
MoreLove it here ..My childhood home Town ..just as I remember it here beautiful special memorys
MoreAltona is a 28 minute train trip from Flinders Street. On a hot city day bring your towel and swimmers. A couple of good cafes, a beach kiosk and yes there’s a fish and chips shop.
MoreAlways liked the sea side, beaches where ever found during traveling. Altona pier is calm & cool place to visit, natural beauty adds more serenity to the places attraction.
MoreNice location which offers easy parking, some nice food and snack options, cafees etc. Good for an afternoon stroll, a nearby playground attracts a lot of families.
MoreQuiet this time of year. Stunning sandy beach. No waves. Interesting to see ducks and swans in the water.
MoreGreat fishing spot just a few minutes drive from the city
It’s one of nice beach in Melbourne.
What a beautiful day !! We had a great time on the pier. Suggestion take a windshield top as it was very windy.
MoreCan walk into water since it is not deep. Beach at water interface looks Gray colour, but there is a separate section of beach with clean sand for people to sun bathing. Fishing is allowed on the pier. There are showers nearby free. There are restaurants nearby to grab a bite.
MoreJust a simple pier from which to maybe do some fishing, or do what most people use it for - a jumping off platform into the water. Even though signs say no to do it, people do it from almost anywhere along the pier.
MoreIts quite chill place and good to hang out with family
You get to see a beautiful sunset from here! Great place to relax and swim in the summer. The water depth is perfect for anyone.
MoreIt was a lot of fun swimming, but every beach is; what Im trying to say its that I couldnt find something special about this beach.
MoreThe pier was built in 1888 and is heritage listed. Popular with anglers who regularly visit. On the weekend I watched someone hook a ray but unfortunately, it got away. The pier is 300m long. The western side of the pier is where the kit surfers come on a windy day to test out their skills and it can be entertaining to watch them battle the winds. Body boarding and surfing arent common because, well, this is no surf. Its a calm beach and ideal for small children. During summer the beach is patrolled.Across the road are two parks, Logan Reserve being the larger of the two with toilet facilities, barbeque, playground, seats and tables. Pier Street is also the street where all the shops are so if you need the obligatory fish and chips at the end of the day, this is where you come.
MoreAn underhyped and undercelebrated winner. I love this place. So pretty. Great for a walk.
