Merkez Mahallesi, Atatürk Cd. No:41, 61750 Maçka/Trabzon, Turkey, Gumushane
Mountainous national park with waterfalls, views & a dramatic Byzantine monastery.
Very good experience i like it
Absolutely one of the best road in Turkey .Magnified nature ..Not dangerous road at all.....
Very historic monastery built up inside the mountain cliff surrounded by beautiful green trees. The road to the place is very scenic deep into the mountain and goes along a river with cold water flowing from the mountain. There is a coffee shop where you can enjoy a hot or cold drink with snacks and enjoy the scene from the top of the cliff.
Very nice site to see but long stairs
One of the best Destination in Trabzon
Heavily commercial. Cannot walk anywhere. Cannot go anywhere except by paid bus.
The place is a wonder. Very beautiful and must see place if you are in Trabzon. However, there is not much information about the place and the people who lived there.
Beautiful place yet in busy seasons it does get overrun with tourists and a hell of a lot of trash!
It was an amazing place, but it was so crowded. You park your car in otopark, then you pay a mini-bus to take you a round trip. It drives you all the way to the Monastery, and then after you finish your tour you take the bus back (costs 15 TL round trip). We paid as foreigners 125 TL per ticket to go inside the monastery. There was a coffeeshop there. There was a mini market for water and snacks. The weather was foggy and cold. It was a nuce place to see.
The place is located uphill. You need to pay 15 tL to get up using buses. Then you have to climb around 300-400 stairs to reach the manastir. Entrance fees is 125 tL. Nice and unique place, worths the visit.
It was very interesting, but Vardzia is the best.
Great views, a must see in the area. I recommend taking the walk to the monastery, its not that steep and quite pleasant.
Amazing place to spend unforgettable time with your family and friends.
Very beautiful place, beautiful history, scenery and nature but, not suitable for adults or people who have a walking problem. No accessibility at all
One of the best places I have visited in the northern Turkey, a combination of nature and history!
Not very big and a little expensive for a small museum but it worth one time visit.
Very good but no dolmush to maçka or trabzon so you must bring your own car
Loved this place... the surroundings etc.. Trabzon is so green, lovely weather and so serene!! Im here with my family. Highly recommended!
Very nice experience full of nature
The view is amazing
It was amazing to visit the park and the Monastery. You can park your car there and then there is a shuttle service that charges you 15 lira return fare to the monastery. You cant take the car beyond that specific point.
Altındere National Park is in the south of Trabzon, near Maçka. In this national park, there is the magnificent Sumela Monastery, which is almost above the clouds. The monastery, located on the fasad of a 270 m high cliff. It iwas placed in the most magnificent location by the Trabzon Emperor Alexius III. It was brought in the Komnenos period. If you are visiting Trabzon, don’t miss this trip back in the history. You can shut amazing photos specially when it is foggy.
How is earth they build this place at thig hight on a clife, very increadablWorth visiting and walk all the way up
We didnt have the chance to see it, they closed it and the man at the entrance said it will be open again next summer, however the view and the mountain are as beautiful as what we expectworth it
Several entry fees. There are fees to enter the park. Fees for the mini bus to take you up to the SÜMELA MONASTERY, and high fees to enter Monastery. Please be aware that there are lots (I mean lotsof stairs to reach the Monastery. The place itself is OK. Nothing wow.
1beautiful scenery2overpriced fees for tickets and transportation3the bus drivers drive crazy with no regards to rights of way or lanes.4no trekking path and no services aside from a self-service mini cafeteria5except for the gentleman at the first entrance, nobody speaks English. Not a single sign in English.
Nice historic site, but the entrance/ bus is not organised well. 8 TL for the bus, 75TL entrance and 10TL parking.
Sumela Monasteryancient historical placeIt is located on a mountain cliff in the middle of wonderful green and beautiful forests
Its historical place.if u have free time u can go have look .its not easy for kids and old people long way to walk
Nice place with amazing nature views, but place still in renovation, not much to see,
A top visit in Turkey
Very beautiful. Was a great place to visit. We went to soumela. You need a jacket because it was cold and rainy, plus good shoes for the long walk 😂.
Amazing road to their, best thing is if you wanna take a leak u need to pay 1 lira .
Nice place, but not worth the effort of getting to it…. Lots of tickets to buy: 10 TL Ticket to enter, 10TL ticket for parking, 4•5 TL for bus transfer, 75TL tickets for entry the old temple. Cafes are relatively expensive.
Beautiful mountains and a few waterfalls which you can watch from the main road but no actual activities. Main road goes along the canyon, locals make stops on the curb for picnics, there are a few restaurants also on the road. No hiking paths. The only thing is to visit Sumela Monastery which is amazing but was closed when we were there.
Altındere Valley National Park is located near Maçka in the south of Trabzon. Inside this national park is the magnificent Sumela Monastery, which is almost above the clouds.
Home to the Sumela Monastery. While we were there, the road up to Sumela was closed and so we enjoyed a nice track up to it. The track is super enjoyable especially amongst the snow. Unfortunately Sumela was still closed for restoration so we could only explore limited portions of it.
Cute little park with a GORGEOUS view of Giresun. Would be 5 stars but I noticed lots of litter occasionally- but I mean thats to be expected from a tourist attraction
Very beautiful natural place. Mountains, valleys, rivers, waterfall and trees in addition to historical landmarks. Beautiful views. Highly recommended.
We visited there to sea Soumela Monastery. It was mistic day for us partwise rainy partwise foggy. We could not visit inside of monastery because of restiration but it was worth visiting the envirement.
This is last point u can reach . Amazing place 10tl ticket. never use stairs there vans pick u up to the top.
I wish they open the road to Somalia church .it seems always close .
Amazing scenery, beautiful landscape, the best place for relaxation, the sound of the water flowing is another love story, long track in the forrest, youll never regret visiting there.
Sound of the water purl give you the real meaning of the nature
Nice valley (وادي). Relax while hearing water streaming from up the mountains. A mosque is nearby, if it is praying time. About 1.5KM on foot to Soumela Monastery
Part from heaven on Earth. If were a forest person then u must go.
Awsome views of Sumela Monastery. Beautiful landscapes surrounded by forest, rivers and waterfalls. Narrow and winding road.
Amazing treasure as my #1 place to see the rich history of this marvelous area
The view and the scene is exquisite but not much there especially if you have to drive one hour from the city.
Positive:-The place is very beautiful and driving up the mountain is an experience you should not miss-the views of the waterfalls are breathtaking.Negative:- no good restaurant at the top- walking into park could be tiring
