Alte Küch'n / Im Keller - German restaurant in Furth, Germany
If you like Kartoffelpuffer this is the place for you. Ben here several times and the food and service is always good
Is one of the best restaurants if you like Middle ages mode the food is perfect and the atmosphere is amazing something very amazing
You going to wait for your order forever, but bier is good though.
The frankisches schaufele was very rough/tough last night. I’ve eaten this wonderful German dish in many places and it was always so soft that the meat would fall off the bone. This was not the case. The ladies were nice and the service was good. The ambience was also nice. Bathrooms clean.
Really friendly stuff and tasty food!!!Seemed super busy but still the stuff were really nice !!😊 Recommend to taste Germany!
If youre in the mood for some traditional German food, Alte Küchn & Im Keller is a great option. The food is excellent, but the service can be a bit slow. Prices are reasonable, making this a great place to eat without breaking the bank.
The food is very good, but the service is very bad. We waited over 20 minutes to order and over 30 minutes to pay. There was only one person attending lots of tables.
Waiting for ever, super slow service and food was not tasty enaugh for that price. Not worthy and we were surrounded by milions of flies after because we were waiting to take away leftovers.
All good, all tasty. A lot of people so we waited a little, but it was worth it.
It does get a bit busy during dinner time, but Stephan makes best of it, and food is tasty.
Really nice restaurant in the basement of and old building decorated with medieval weapons and armours. ⚔️We ordered Schnitzler, Haxen and Schäufele to test the typical german food, and everything was delicious. The Kellner was really fast and nice. 100% recommended if you are in town.
Amazing medeivel supper in the basement, huge portions, uses deep fryer instead of over to cook pork shoulder. (A little dry)
Like a time machine to the middle ages. Very friendly and helpful staff. Fascinating interior and delicious food. Definitely going here again! Highly recommended.
Excellent food and service. I will can back definitely in my next vacation. Regards
Tasty but a little disappointed by the schnitzel - I was expecting a large flat one. Service was great and everyone was nice and helpful
We sat outside, it was a nice weather. We have ordered Thüringen sausages and Haxe. Both dishes were great. We were surprised by the speed we were served the food and drinks. If you want to try something new, try smoked beer. Very interesting taste and a good combination for the food ordered. All in all we paid 35 EUR, which totally worth it!
Very disappointing experience. The asparagus soup with salmon is 6.8 Euro , but only 3 small finger nail size salmon pice, and too salty. The crackled pork leg was not good either, texture is good but no flavor. There was no aroma from meat and soup. And we had to keep fighting with 3 flies from begging to end, they just wouldn’t leave.
We tried both the Alte Küch’n and the Keller on a recent trip to Nuremberg. Both experiences were fantastic. Service was attentive and personable. The Keller beer is delicious. Classic franconian dishes are prepared with care. It is definitely geared towards tourists but the quality cannot be overstated.
Great food, American friendly
Really good food and service. Thank you Nurberg.
The food was delicious! My friends and I were looking for authentic German cuisine, and this place offered amazing food at reasonable prices. While not the cheapest option, it didnt break the bank, and the portions we received were well worth what we paid. The service was good, the establishment itself is very pleasant, and I would definitely come back again. A 10 out of 10 for me.
Now this is a really cool restaurant with exceptional good food. Its not cheap but definitely value for your money. Also the size of the portions is more then enough, and I am a big eater.
Stumbled upon this pub by accident, and was the best meal we’ve had so far. Very accommodating, fantastic food (the kartoffelpuffer are greatand great beer.
Superb local food and beer! Friendly staff and speaks English. Weekend live music as well
Very traditional place in Nuremberg! Strongly recommend and have a nice singing time, good beer and great Frankonian food.
Great restaurant! We showed up in the middle of the medieval show, but they were still able to seat us in the same area.Service was excellent, and the food was amazing. Everything cooked to perfection, and incredibly flavorful.
Fun place. German way to refill the beer. Cool hanging guy.....
Fantastic food and service , highly recommend.
Cozy, good service, tasty food. They have healthy option of vegetables and fried chicken.
Super nice atmosphere, great food, but sadly host(owner?is taking way too much room and is obviously not making the staff or guests visit easier.
This german restaurant was simply amazing. The location was ideal within old town Nuernberg and the decor in the underground restaurant was amazing and made you feel like you were in another time.Staff were very friendly and quite quick with service. The food and beer were very tasty
Such a good and delicious food!!! Everything was so good!
Great food and nice location. Unfortunately they don’t have Sauerbraten.I went there for meeting some friends and the choice was great - the food was tasty and the location in the cellar really cozy. The potato patties had a great taste but could have been a bit more crispy. The Marmelade served with it on the other hand, was more than I have ever experienced on a plate with potato patties. The desert was great, as well as their house liquors.Definitely a cool place to check out. The staff was nice as well.
Very unique experience. We went with the 8 courses "Knights dinner" in the "cellar" part of the restaurant (the restaurant consists of the upstairs restaurant "alte küchn" where the chef cooks in an old kitchen environment in front of the guests and the "cellar" where nuns used to hide in the old times). After a short introduction and a Covid 19 briefing the show starts right away with your own "Bard" that guides you through the evening with short funny lectures about the medieval times and songs (new and old / English and German. It was hilarious. It is a vaulted cellar made of red sandstone. All kinds of gear and medieval weaponry, the wooden seating areas and paneling add to the over all medieval experience. Its just way too much food for 2 people to handle. So be prepared to feast like kings - actually - less like peasants. The food was great. A large variety of entrees - with bread, spiced lard, radish, aspic, white cheese with chives. A tasty beef broth with semolina dumplings. A lambs lettuce salad and stuffed quail wrapped in bacon. A large pork knuckle and spare ribs with coleslaw and potatoes. Sweet apple donuts for desert and a variety of cheese at the very end. All worth every last cent youll spend here.We had a great time here and definetly come back next time were in the neighborhood.
LOCATION- 3/5AMBIENCE-4/5COMFORT- 3/5SERVICE-5/5FOOD- 7/5 (extremely good)It’s very near to the Albrecht Dürer House and is located uphill. We were seated by the kind waitress who attended us regularly until the dessert. The food is delicious and fresh here. If you like fresh and tasty vegetables with good German meat dishes then you will return back to this restaurant for they cook everything perfectly!! The Apfelstrudel is a Must! Don’t leave without sharing some❤️ Also drink the beer 🍻Tip:- if you’re not so hungry or you get full after appetizer platter then order fish with veggies because it is not at all heavy on the stomach.
Food is very tasty, staff is friendly. This is traditional, regional restaurant - so probay tastes are not for everybody but we really enjoyed it. Very good regional table wine. Prices are medium-good value for money. One disadvantage was a bit slow service and the fact tak quater to closing we where not able to have any dessert.
The restaurant is in the center of the old town, which is so convenient to reach. We came here on Christmas Eve and luckily and they kindly gave us one as we did not have reservation. The atmosphere is really nice and we enjoyed our meal. The food was amazing, we ordered grilled haxe and my wife had a pork fillet. Highly recommend the restaurant (though difficult to book haha)
Best selected local beer. The Rauchbier is smooth with a level of smoky goodness even my wife can appreciate. The atmosphere is adults only with the cheeky surprises in a few of the art pieces. Traditional Dirndls, Nuremberg fare and 3L beers await hungry explorers.
Very cozy. We found the atmosphere exceptional. The food was straightforward German food but done well. The beer was evidently more local than other stuff and tasted wonderful (on draft). Everything was seasoned perfectly and service was snappy. The staff spoke English and were very kind. They accepted us without reservation but turned others away when it came close to the end of the night. I would double check the hours before heading down. A strong recommendation if youre in town!!
Potato cakes were tasty and not offered elsewhere in Nuremburg. Friendly service and good atmosphere.
On holiday in Nuremberg we came back here all the nights ho have dinner. German food and prices very good. All perfect!!
Perfect atmosphere, very friendly and positive staff. Delicious food, very nice beer. So totally good place. Price is acceptable. Even by our kind request they served "Dish for 4 persons" for three ones. With smile and jokes. Highly appreciated and recommended.
Super cozy restaurant in the heart of Nuremberg. The foot was amazing and relatively cheap. The selection of drinks included a few local beers and wines as well as a local schnapps. The staff was super friendly. All in all we had a fantastic evening.
Overall a nice meal. Quite a lot of tourist though. I had crackling pork shoulder with potato pancakes. The pork skin was rather chewy. Potato pancakes are great. Nice wine and beer. Recommended.
Good German food, nestled underground. Decor of place is awesome. Note that per pitcher/ jug of water is 6.50€.
Had a really nice evening in the cellar with my colleagues. They offer group dinners with medieval fare and musical accompaniment. No forks allowed! We were only given a knife to help us eat with, so you start with a ceremonial hand washing. Overall the food was good and the wine was great!
This was very good. Food was excellent and service was without complaint. The idea that you eat your dinner in the same way that they did in the old time is quite funny. You just get a knife and a tree plate. Then its you to you how you want to eat your food, with the knife only or with your fingers as well. The three litre beer dispenser that you can order to the table is just great. A table reservation is always a good thing here. Recommended
Nurnberg sausage suspect is factory made. Potato pancakes very oily. 2 stars because the waitress was so jovial and friendly even though shes the only one managing the ordering, serving, drinks and bill.
Looked for local fränkischen kitchen. The food is high quality, and done by the book. Not that new stuff for a Viennese though, on the first day here I hopped for a more weirder Nürnberg approach, but it seems we share the same dishes. No wonder, Bavaria and Austria are neighbors. They even have an authentic veal Wiener Schnitzel on the menu. The Keller Bier is very good, no CO2 added, really tasty. Prices, Id say for the location, less than Vienna. On a Sunday afternoon I was lucky to grab a table by the door, looking down the pretty street, no stress at all. Very nice service. I read few other posts from disgruntled patrons that complained about bad service, slow or unfriendly personnel, but I guess it is something that can happen to anyone everywhere for trying to squeeze into places at peak times. Everyone wants to get best service Saturday evening around 7 and is pissed when the planned location is full and they dont get the royal treatment theyre entitled to by birth. :-)
Place was small and cozy. Had the French onion soup and the pork shoulder. Both dishes were excellent. Waitress spoke perfect English. Atmosphere was small town, but it was located just off the main downtown strip. Great experience overall.
