One of those places where I left a piece of my heart.

This is a must see national Park. The park is very clean and there are not many people around, so you will fully enjoy your visit. There is no light pollution, so you can really see the milky way galaxy at night. There are free range sheep, goats, and yaks, so the animals will come up to your campsite, but they wont bother you. You can hike up to the Potanin glacier or go by horseback. You can pay one of the locals to take you by horseback up to the glacier. By horseback, it took us 3-4 hours each way, so if youre going to hike, you should start very early in the morning. There is a glacial river running through the park with water so clean, and extremely cold, that you can wash up. Dont expect any restrooms. There may be an outhouse by the ghers that you may be able to use.

Trekking through this National Park was so amazing. Walking past the nomads and their gers, and snow capped mountains everywhere. However, it is important to go with a guide.

To those of you looking for information about traveling without a guide, as of this year (2019its impossible, you cant get the permit to go there without a tour agency.Hopefully this information will help someone.

Its a mongolian best hiking place.Its worth it!!!!! There foot by horses or camel.And the you need an calculable tourist guide company or youll be lost it.

Its a great place with an outstanding view! You only get there by foot or by horse or camel! Its worth it!

This is such a great awesome experience for me. Im from indonesia. And if you want to go there you need a long time travel. You need a visa of course. This is a ice mountain hv high 4.374 masl. You must have a equipment ice hiking like crampons, rope, and harnest. And then you must knowing about technical ice hiking. This mountain even just for professional hike. If you want to go there and you not professional you need mountain guide, in bayan ulgii have a lot of mountain guide everywhere you want likes khuiten peak, malchin peak, nairamdal peak, etc. Several tourist just wants to looking for a beautifull view from the basecamp cause from there you can see five biggest high mountain in mongolia. And if you want to easily hiking any tourist go to Malchin peak cause just need basic equipment and you just walk to go top.Im the first team from Indonesia has been hiking Khuiten Peak Mongolia. if you need more information you can sent message for me by email. Amazing nationalpark. Was there at the beginning of June on an unguided 7 day lakeside hike with two others. The only people we met were nomads, extremely welcoming. They never shied inviting us for tea. The scenery is gorgeous. The lakes were still half frozen. Peaceful. Wild. Beautiful.

the Altai Tavan Bogd NP incudes the highest peak Khuiten and Potanin which is second biggest glacier in central Asia. Khoton lake with stunning nature and Sacred moutain. the local people are Tuvan who have own language and religion such a Shamanism. The National Park one of the most visited place in Mongolia.

Amazing and beautiful mountain range and park. Do not expect modern facilities then again you wont get there without a local guide anyway. 175klm off rod drive from Ulugi. I recommend staying for a week to trek and explore the area.
