Alpino Mount Maunganui - Italian restaurant in Tauranga, New Zealand
Service was bang on, could not be faulted.Great atmosphere and accommodating staff. We had a large selection of food and everything was cooked and seasoned well, standout dish was lamb.Wine selection was brilliant and served perfectly in short ridel glass.
Great spot for a meal and a drink.
Really enjoyed the Caprese pizza with seasonal veges and had a good time chatting with the barman, Ollie. Tasty cocktails! Great atmosphere inside and there are tables outside so you can enjoy the sun if you manage to grab a spot. Probably a good idea to book ahead if theres a few of you because it was pretty busy both times I went.
Excellent service from the team at Alpino tonight. My husband & our two daughters dined here impromptu this evening, the staff were very accommodating & helpful, even with being booked out inside they managed to make something work. Excellent food, ambient atmosphere, impeccable staff & service. A warm thank you to our Argentinian waitress, from Joseph, Katie, Ella & Coco. Will definitely stop by again next time were at the mount!
Amazing food, staff and atmosphere
Very poor. Service staff on the take. Food very good but will not go again.
Fabulous meal! We had the gnocchi, Parmesan fries, kid’s margarita pizza, & diavola pizza. Everything was delicious.
Drink was nice, the tuna was a bit salty. Staff was kind.
Stunning food, excellent service. Highly recommend.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Tauranga. They make great food.
Terrible experience. Started with two cocktails that tasted far too sweet and couldn’t even taste the gin. Then came the flatbreads, the pumpkin & burrata and the snapper crudo. Sadly the breads are the star here. The pumpkin is a watery purée flop with a slab of burrata in it and the snapper was a burnt buttery mess of snapper pieces. Lacking flavour on both dishes.Next came the bitter leaves, insalata sarda and carrots. We were informed they ran out of stracciatella for the carrots but continued to proceed. The bitter leaves had a mountain of olive oil over them (leaves with your olive oil anyone?and was choked in Parmesan. Awful. The insalata sarda salmon was no better than a smoked cold salmon from countdown or new world out the packet on a mixed dish of grains, feta and other intricate items. Lacking flavour and any substance, this was the worst dish of all of them. Lastly, the carrots. They were rolled in olive oil and were hardly cooked. Firm to bite. Awful.$160- something later; I couldn’t wait to get out faster. Total dining time for all of this was bang on an hour. Such a shame because the new sister restaurant that recently opened, Piknicka, was a stellar 10/10.Definitely won’t be back when we can cook better at home. Disappointed.
One of the best GF PIZZAS I have ever eaten. Staff went above and beyond to prepare takeaway which isnt normally on the menu. Simple fresh and beautiful ingredients. Thank you for a beautiful Friday night take out dinner
Social place for a beer and a good Italian meal. Not the best Italian food and not inventive but very solid.
A favourite restaurant of mine, and clearly one of the very best restaurants in the Mount. cosy & lovely staff. Try the crumbed olives!
A big thank you to the amazing staff at Alpino who managed to fit 8 of us into a table on short notice.Seriously top shelf food and atmosphere here, the two standout dishes to try were the gnocchi and the mushroom pizza, espresso martinis get a special mention also.James AshwinKakapo Business Sales
Very disappointed at the food quality. I’ve only been to Alpino Cambridge and they are amazing so I assumed the Mount one would be similar. The burrata was served with butternut squash, pumpkin seeds, lemon zest and maybe parmigiana, not a great combo of flavours. The butternut squash was too overpowering, couldn’t taste the burrata at all. The pizza was average. I had ordered a side dish which I believe they had completely forgotten about so I asked again halfway through the meal and it come to the table by the end of my dinner. Disappointed at the lack of service and quality of food.
Unfortunately we had a very bad experience! Left very disappointed with the food and the service!
Beautiful food and the gluten free pizza was delicious 😋 and awesome service 👍
The pork belly was fantastic. For a meal in an Italian restaurant it was fantastic to have a low carb option. The slaw was fantastic and the pork so juicy. 👍
Amazing amazing amazing.Authentic Italian food! Yum thank you!
Best Italian in the mount, good wine list, friendly staff. Book in advance as very popular!
Good vibes and nice pizza , first tasty pizza that I’ve tried in Nz, really nice flavour. Also, good customer service! We went there for the first time to try something different, we met Uri that day, he makes the best cocktails, if you ask for different mojitos flavours, he will find the way to make you happy 😊 we will come back for sure :)
Fantastic place to enjoy a pizza and a cocktail! Was lucky to walk in and get a table for two on a Sunday evening, but the service was lovely and quick, and we enjoyed everything about it.
Very nice🍺👌Staff are friendly and food is amazing
Beautiful food and service was great however the night we went it was pretty chilly and we had older people with us. A heater was taken to another group outside but our oldies were not offered a heater....when we asked if there was a heater for us, we were told there was only one & was offered a blanket instead....was quite disappointed with that.
Food was delicious with awesome service!! Loved how the manager and waiters interacts and gives each table individual attention!!
We had a disappointing meal at Alpino. The pasta and gnocchi meals were bland, small and expensive. We left hungry. No apologies offered by staff. Too expensive for bland small meals. We wont be back.
Alpino has Friendly and helpful staff and a good selection of Italian wines and mainly Pizza. It’s an expensive restaurant where a couple wouldn’t get any change from $200 for dinner. Although they do have some gluten free options it’s Not a good choice for Celiacs. Hard to tell from which dish but I was glutened (fed glutenthere by accident.
1 out of 3 staff gave good service, gave incorrect order then came and took it5mins later and put it on another table, we could have eaten some!! One account per table which is fine but then they said we could split it, went to pay, nah were too busy to process multiple transactions. Up your game. Will not return when Osteria has superior service
The Alpino had been recommended to us by several friends, and it did not disappoint. Great central location in Mount Maunganui with a lovely, vibrant atmosphere. If I squinted my eyes a little to blur the pouring rain outside, I could almost imagine I was sitting in a restaurant in Italy. Almost ;I had the Pappardelle Al Ragu (Beefand loved it. Really rich. My partner who was celebrating her birthday had the Spaghettini Vongole (Clams). She said it was good but will go for something else next time. Our meal was complimented well with a bottle (or two!of the JK “Nonna Silvana”, Pinot Grigio. The meal was finished off with a complimentary glass of Limoncello. Thanks guys, well be back :)
Great service. We found the food really nice but not to write home about. Lovely vibe going on and a nice place to be. Cost including good quality wine and other beverages was about a hundy per head but we all had starters and deserts.
Yummy kids Pizza Hawaii. Delicious octopus starter dish, pasta and truffle pizza. Great customer service, very friendly. Love it here!! I would recommend for everyone to visit :)
Fantastic experience, great menu, very creative dishes, yummy Italian bases.Great recommendations and good wines.Very warm, inviting, comfortable easy speaking restaurant. Service was excellent from everyone we interacted with.We came out with big smile. Thank you guys for a great night out. I look foward to coming back soon.
Great food as usual - lovely atmosphere and location. Be prepared to wait for food and drinks when its busy - but well worth the wait for authentic Italian cuisine.
Late night booking here. Stunning evening outside , with a busy atmosphere. Staff were awesome, offered blankets for me and my partner while we were seated. I had the Tuna Sashimi , and the Crayfish Ravioli. I cannot give high enough praise on both. Partner shared the prawn dish with me, and this was also spectacular.
If we lived at The Mount, this would be somewhere we’d visit a lot. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived and the personable service continued until we left. Our table wasn’t ready immediately, so we waited at the bar. A very knowledgeable member of staff guided us through the wine list and helped us select a negroamaro from the south of Italy, which we really enjoyed. The food was some of the best Italian dishes we’ve eaten in some time. We started with the octopus and fennel salad, which had a lovely olive oil. This was followed by a beautiful crayfish & monkfish ravioli. An all-round great experience.
Alpino used to be one of our fav restaurants but recently the menu has changed and the selection of mains has been reduced in favour of pizza (ie no Lasagnaand the prices seem to have risen. The wife got one of the few non pizza mains for $32 - rice in a sauce with a little bit of asparagus and a few peas for $32. Pretty ordinary and def not good value, and our friends seafood ravioli for $39 was minuscule. So not good value for money and a pretty limited choice menu - unless you like pizza - and there’s a lot of pizza options aside from Alpino at the Mount.
We had a great meal here for my fathers birthday. The crayfish ravioli was delicious, as was the pappardelle with goat ragu. The kids pizza was very generous, and came with an ice cream cone for dessert which was a big hit for Miss 5. Highly recommend!
Best "true" Italian Restaurant I discovered so far in New Zealand. The ingredients are all high quality, home cooked and fair price. Friendly italian staff and the location is very easy to get to.
lovely place, we loved the food, excellent service, Ill come back soon.
The service was friendly and efficient. The Food was delicious. The lasagne is a very generous portion. Enough for sharing after antipasti each. The Italian wine as great as expected. We are looking forward to going back here to try the pizza. Highly recommended.
My friend and I enjoyed our quick dinner at Alpino before heading back to Auckland. The chips and pizza were so yummy! I love the wall art too 😍 Id definitely come back when I visit Maunganui next time. 😊❤
A beautiful mean with great service in a lovely atmosphere. Make sure you book early as it seems it is always in demand but make sure you go!Had been recommended about this restaurant and glad we checked it out one Sunday evening. Just the missus and yours truly, very nice Italian influenced decor and ambience without being over the top
Amazing food. Nice ambiance. Pizza and plates amazing. Staff friendly and easy going. Manager very helpful. Prices good. Is hard to get in as a walking. Strongly recommend you to have a reservation to make sure. Arrive early.
Stopped here for lunch in the sun and it was great - The service was really friendly. We shared a pizza and a salad but of which were amazing. One of those meals you dont want to end. Well go back forsure!
Beautiful and amazing !! The taste of heaven 👍😍
Very good Tapas restaurant. The food was really great although perhaps too much onion in some of the dishes. Adequate wine list. Excellent service from the wait staff. Recommended.
Staff were absolutely lovely and food was delicious! The chef put everything together so well. Not a place where you get huge meals so if you want value for money then try somewhere else, but it was definitely worth it in our book!
Friendly staff and exceptional food.
Seriously, The BEST restaurant!! Food was amazing and I couldnt fault the fantastic service! They do a fab job together! I cant wait to go back soon!!
