We had here a fantastic dinner, one of the most tasteful had during our tour in Germany. Personnel extremely quick in service and polite, in a pleasant atmosphere along the river.And then...you can easily book through OpenTable, extremely convenient for foreign tourists moving from town to town along the romantic strasse.We strongly suggest this place!

Good place with nice local food. The staff is very nice and helpful. They try to make you feel really welcome. Good view of the castle and the river Main. Their beer is fresh not stale and tastes delicious. Good lunch time deals with decent portions. always worth a visit as again in August 2022.

Great food, amazing house beers and nice atmosphere but unfortunately our waiter ruined our experience for us with his poor service. He took his time before eveng asking what we want to drink and even apologized in sarcastic way that he didnt pay attention to us earlier. Finally got the drinks after some waiting and the food came surprisingly quickly. Everything went fine untill some bees swarmed us and my wife insisted we go eat inside. Obviously not the restaurants fault and we got a table inside the restaurant after asking. After that our waiter started ignoring us and we had to ask his colleagues for service and they usually delivered the orders very quickly. Our appointed water was not interested to give us service as we saw him walking next to the kitchen many times and didnt even want to look at us. After we finished eating desserts and had our coffee I asked for the bill from one other waiter and she said she will pass on the message to our waiter. After waiting 15-20 minutes we saw our waiter again wandering around behind the bar and around the kitchen and didnt make eye contact to us. Then I asked again for the bill from another waiter and again he said politely that he will pass on the message to our waiter. We saw our waiter get the message and he then seemed like he was going to come give us our bill but instead went on to deliver some beers to the garden side ignoring us one last time. After waiting 30 minutes my wife went on to confront him and he came up with excuses that he didnt see us as we were not anymore on his route while he clearly just chose to ignore us as our table was very visible from the bar / kitchen.. At this point I just wanted to pay and get out. What a way to ruin a good experience! All the other Staff were polite and wonderful, I have no idea what was the reason for this treatment by our waiter. It was not that busy and we saw him stop by at other tables multiple times to check on them.

I hosted an event here for 50 people here and it was a success! The Alter Kranen team were great and easy to work with. No venue fee, they gave us a room and allowed us to close the curtain for privacy (since no other guest were seated with us). They worked with us using a VAT form for tax free and accepted food orders until the day of the event. Extremely flexible. Food is classic german fare and tasty. Location is great. Atmosphere was nice, service was timely. They handled our large party of individual tabs with grace.I could not be more content with the service. Another plus, they communicated well in English.

The food is very delicious, it’s a very nice restaurant for German food. The location is very good and easy to park at the Parkhaus near the restaurant. I can imagine it would also be perfect choice for sitting outside when the weather is good. Will definitely go there again.

Traditional German Guesthouse (Restaurant and Pub), as classic as it gets, Staff is nice and friendly creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.Food and Drinks (they bring up a fresh barrel from the local brewery dailyare great and pricing is reasonable.

The location is super! A great view of the river and the Fortress. The food and the service were good. There are not so many choices for food. The taste were not special but ok.

Really good beer. If you come around 17:00 they will open a wooden barrel with beer. This beer is really good but at the same time cheaper than usually.Food was served super fast. I have ordered a Schnitzel and I got it like in 1-2 minutes. Despite such a speed, the quality of the food was good enough!

First resturant when we arrived in Germany. Food is great, love the texture of potatoes. View is great!

Great place for a beer on a warm day

Nice lively ambiance along the river bank where locals and tourists (but mostly university studentshangout and enjoy the sunset and a drink... Either in a Biergarten or at the public picnic tables.

Boat trip. Very relaxing. Interesting scenery with a little industrial bur mainly a valley view upto the vineyards peaceful, relaxing and you can order beer on the boat. Perfect way to see the scenery.

I loved it! Great beer, delicious frankischer food. My only complaint is that the dish was oddly shaped and my fork kept falling into my lap. This was NOT because of the beer. The young lady drinking Pepsi across from me had the same problem. Still, all said a wonderful time!

Staff is so friendly and accommodating, and speak excellent English. Loud atmosphere so kids can be loud and the staff welcomes them. The food is all right, there is a nice variety and they have a great drink list and happy hour.
