Perfect!Very nice animals!

Nicely maintained. Get to see most of the animals here. Weekdays very less crowd and selective outlets are open. Very close to the adjacent amusement park.

I think everybody should visit this zoo to know the importance of wild animals. However this place must be cleaner.

Great place to visit, especially for family with kids , I just not like the toilets are not clean at all.

Its a much better place than it used to be before reno. Nice to go for a walk. Admission fee is very reasonable.

Much better than when I first visited this zoo. Still, there are some exhibits that seem to be hell for the animals. They have made improvements but have a ways to go. The lions no longer look starved with ribs showing, you can no longer feed the giraffes, and there appeared to be new enclosures which are all steps in the right direction.

Was absolutely dissapointed due to peoples behavior at the park and not following the quarantine/park rules. Thats why my spending time was not rather good, only 4.

Nice place to be and visit. When I visited few months ago parts of it was under renovation which is a good thing, that being said, the negative thing I noticed was the Elephants part, one of them clearly was suffering, sick and acting strangely because of pain or probably lack of medical care. Generally its a good place to visit alone or with family to enjoy some quality time.

Its one of the best places u can be in whole Kz. The price ince park and zoo is quite expensive but the joy which u take is amazing put this place first in you travel list of kz 😊😉

I grew up in Almaty going to this zoo every month. Looks like they did some improvements, since I visited 20 years ago :)

Great zoo. Lots of animals to see. So many beautiful birds. But dont feed shashlik to the lions.

Its nice to see animals up close.But its too close,so if you with children have topay attention to the safety.

While the number of species is surprising, many of the animals are held in too small cages or without possibilities for retreat. At the end of our visit, this stuck with us most so overall better visit a different zoo.

Such a big shame. This beautiful zoo is filled up with very undereducated people. Eventhough the zoo brought all the animals in the world, theyre treated like prisoners in jail.People bring their children here and knocking every single cage. I was shocked that even ladies and guys are doing the same thing. They scream and yell on the cage, and try to move the animals.Even worse in exotic animals exhibition. They turn on their flash light to take a photo of bat and other night life animals. The animals seemed extremely nervous and frightened by these crazy people. Nobody follows the warning signs.Hope they put the price on double and hire people in every exhibition to stop those stupid people. I guess 700 Tenge(less than 2USDfor the ticket is too cheap and people stopped thinking.

The animals looked tired, thin, and very affected by the heat. I had a medical issue while I was there, and was surprised that they did not have wheelchairs. For such a facility, I would think it would be necessary to have those for the elderly also.

Its above place to spend time with your kids and family if the weather is nice. The tickets are very cheap only 500tenge for adult and 200 for kids if I am not mistaken. My brother was so happy to see all these wild animals which you cannot find in other cities of country. They sell lots of snacks, there are restaurants, and park nearby. He saw crocodiles, liones, hippo and was super happy

Really loved renovations. However, people still upset me: they feed animals with junk food although its written not to. Onai system doesnt work, there is no parking, AC doesnt work at places it should (probably administration wants it shut). I would suggest to install water sprinkles inside of some cages, so at summer time animals would feel more comfortable.

Spring time is not so good for animals after winter sleeping but children should watch them

Almatys Zoo is worth to visit by every tourist and guest. The territory is enormous and try to spend a day there. A huge number of animals cant be seen in several hours, we have been there just 3 hours and could see only 1/4 of zoo, what was so pity. There are a lot of zoos advantages: first, it is comfortable for animals to live in the zoo and for visitors to walk. Second, the public bathroom is available in many places. Third, there are good conditions for disabled people and children. Fourth, the main point of zoo is called Samal. It is a wooden place with table, chairs, cold and hot water, and these all are FREE for all to see.

Entrance about $3 per person and absolute worth it, inside free washrooms and chairs for sitting. Almost all kind of animals from all continents are there. Best place to spend a time with family, friends.

The zoo is average with some very terrible small and dirty cages. Some visitors behave like idiots. They imitate the animals, knock against the glasswindows and throw fruits at the bears, although its forbidden to feed. Gorkipark is better.

There are huge verity of animals in this zoo and you need more than three hours to see all of them.They are renovating some parts when we visited and I guess it’s looks better soon.The ticket of adult is 700kzt, for children is 300kzt, and for small children is free.

Good place for kids, neat , clean, and lot of variety of birds & animals. Not a single food point there fr kids . Over all good experience fr kids.

Not a bad zoo for such a small price. 700 tenge for adults; tickets for children aged 5-12 are 200 tenge. They have many types of animals in the zoo, all looked healthy and well fed. Some animals have a winter pavilion so that they wont feel cold during winter. The place is quite big (21 hectares), and I was made to understand that the Almaty Zoo is home to over 5,000 animals from all over the globe. Operating hours may differ during winter, may close at 5pm, other times they are open til 7-8pm daily. The website says 9pm though. I didnt see any food stalls open during winter around 10am when i was there. We were the first customers on that day (weekend, so better come prepared with snacks. Drinking water fountains are widely available at the zoo.

It is a well maintained zoo.but little tiring.Yhere is beautiful place near it ,a well maintained park with fountains boat ride and tasty food outlets

A biggest animal park in Kazakhstan. U must spend all day here for watching.

I like our zoo. Very green, animal houses need to be renovated though.

Its a very nice zoo. The entry fee is reasonable!It has a lot of different types of animals for example 5 or 6 types of eagles. It has good playgrounds for children. It doesnt smell too stinky for a zoo. However some areas were closed like the predator house and the reptile house. Overall great experience. It takes an average of 1 to 2 hours to look around the whole zoo.

Beatiful place, order and clear around. Many trees - old, majestic and noble. Absolutely green place. Perfect zone for family rest! Big amount of animal, and all in perfect status and conditions. Price 700 tg for adults, for old people and babies till 7 for free.

Historical zoo of Almaty city that is being currently restored and revamped. Lots of rare species that you wont even see in New York or Chicago Brookfield and Lincoln zoo. Amongs the usual suspects are a bengali tiger, lions, bears, bluebeasts, variety of birds, hyenas, gigantic rhinos, elephants, monkeys, swans and many others. Not the best conditions for animals but the new sponsor and the zoo director are putting much effort to revamp this beautiful place. Definitely visit it if you are in Almaty.Central amusement park named after Gorkov is across the street

Fairly spacious territory. Lots of renovations have been made last year. Though, compared to some prominent zoos, Almaty zoo provides fairly poor conditions for animals.

Generally I was surprised by the quality of service provided by the Zoo this year. I was here last year, and it wasnt that good. Nowadays, there are a lot of chairs and places to get water. There are new more convenient rampant for special people and parents with strollers. About the animals - I wish they had better conditions. I have seen only monkeys with good mood, others just existing. The best place was Fish gallery, my child enjoyed it. p.s. I had tickets from Chocolife discount service. Its cheaper

Very good place to take your kids and family on holidays. Here you can see mostly all kinds of animals, birds, insects. Tickets cost not so expensive. But if you to save your money, you can buy e ticket on Chocolife.me web site.

Surprisingly well organised zoo with comfortable entrance and great area for walks and rest.Animals are living in quite wide and spacious areas, which is good to mention unlike many ex-Soviet capitals zoos.Various cafes and kiosks are good to buy things and drinks when its hot.However not all toilets are working within the zoo.Also, I would propose to put bands with names and parents phone number on each entering kid because many children get lost and you hear them crying for Mom.İn general, absolutely must-visit place when youre in Almaty with family and kids.

Great improvements since the past years. Wheelchair access needs to be improved. Animal living conditions should be improved further.

Not worth to visit this place. You loose your precious time and mony also. Very poorly maintained. Most of animals cages are empty.
