Gyula, Kossuth Lajos u. 15, 5700 Hungary, Gyomaendrőd
Medieval brick waterfront castle with 24 exhibition halls, a dungeon, chapel & wine bar.
The castle itself is beautiful inside and outside, great interactive exhibitions on a huge site, a very good value to money! The temporary Sissi exhibition however was small and less outstanding. It was also interactive though and they shared a lot of information about Sissi, but there werent many of her clothes or furniture from her castle in Gödöllő, where I believe the original Sissi exhibition is. I have found the temporary exhibition a bit pricey, comparing it to the whole castles entry fee which is only 50% higher, but there are a lot more to see and do.The castle also has a brilliant gift shop, selling all sorts of things from fridge magnets to books and even umbrellas about the castle or the towns other sights and about the temporary exhibition. The on site coffee shop serves nice coffee in various tastes and delicious cakes. The terrace of the coffee is dog friendly and you can also smoke at the outside tables.
everything is great!
Flashy and modern museum experience
It took us 2 whole days to experience the whole castle. It was amazing. Best cultural activity you can choose. And they have a very fun escape room too!
Dont miss to visit. Beautiful building, nice exhibits, good caffe.
The best museum experience we had in years. So, this museum is not only a classic royal / patrician former mansion. This is a really cool interactive learning experience that is great for kids as well.We liked both the permanent and temporary exhibitions, really loved all the interactive elements.Tip: buy the 4 in 1 ticket. That means you can visit the mansions temporary and permanent exhibitions, its lookout and the castle of Gyula, within 2 days. The price is discounted compared to their cumulated price. Also you can visit the gift shop and a nice, cozy bar after the exhibitions, still in the mansion.
Great experience with kids.
Well worth a visit especially on a rainy day good interactive sections (would have given 5 stars if they all workedof the Palace history
Wonderful, a place full of history. They preserved some parts from the original castle. The museum is very well done, organised and I like a lot the exhibition. You can buy a ticket to visit the temporary exhibition which unfortunately it is only in Hungarian, you can buy a ticket for the permanent exhibition which is amazing, everything is also translated in English, so thats great and you can also pay to go on the roof top of the castle to enjoy the wonderful view. Totally worth it! Enjoy!
Beautiful place full of history
This castle exceeded my expectations! It was traditional, full of history but very modern (with the newest interior decor trendsat the same time. If you visit this place, you can learn a lot about the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries’ lifestyle and how people lived, worked and behaved, what the etiquette was how the children learnt, what fashion trends were impressive at that time. It can take 2-3 hours to see everything and I am not kidding!
Very interesting, reflects the recent interest.
Very pretty.
Beautifully restored and interesting exhibits.
Fantastic modern experience of a historic castle. Highly recommended.
Really beautiful and the exhibition is interedting too. Worth to visit and also try some coffe and biscuit in the café
Interactive exhibition must see nr1 in Gyula, for Downton Abbey fans a must see
Elegant, calm and nice. Sometimes there are classical music events, which are also very calm and nice. The atmosphere of the place is just very pleasant. Would recommend to all ages.
Lends a glimpse into the everyday life of a noble residence not so far into the past. Interesting and interactive exhibitions will keep your attention, and the kids will enjoy it aswell. Friendly staff to assist any of your needa, and a nice cafe at the end to refresh. Worth checking out if youre around Gyula.
Worth to visit. There are interactive things which are fun and informative. The palace is big and beautiful. The prices are low. It’s garden is very nice too. Perfect view to the castle. And it also has a restaurant in it.
We only went up in the tower, but the view was great, the castle is beautifully refurbished and the park looks really nice.
Modern, interactive and friendly place. You can get knowledge castles from 16th to 19th century. Both youngsters and elderly will enjoy this place for sure.
Very interesting exhibition about the everyday life of a 19th century noble family and their servants.
Very cool with a lot of creative things. You need a whole day to visit it.
Interactive exhibition with some interesting old stuffs (furniture, clothes, etc.If you are interested in the lifestyle of the castle staff, it is worth visiting this place.
A remarkably restored manor featuring an interactive, kid-friendly exhibit that is second to none in Hungary.
Brilliant, interactive exhibition even for kids!
The main exhibition was amazing, but the observatory tower and the temporary exhibiton were big dissapointments. A bit pricy as well.
Nice place to see
Nice visit. Interesting pieces of historical information.
Absolutely worth a visit. Interactive, fun and informative - fantastic for kids too!
One of the most interactive exhibition ever...
Great exhibition about the everyday life of a countryside chateau in the late 19th century.
The renewed building is very impressive, the staff and exhibitions are real professionals. The interactive parts of the exhibitions make it real joyful and fun to the entire family; go with your kids and all of you will enjoy the story and also the history. 😊🏰🗡⚔️🛡🙏🏼👽
Nice castle. You should see it :)
Cool exhibition and nice coffee :)
This building is absolutely remarkable. World class in every sense of the word: high-tech visitor center with interactive exhibitions, holograms and videos everywhere you look. You can almost feel, smell and touch everything, this must be a place to go with children. Its moderately cheap, but well worth the price. There is an app to go with the exhibitions, but we only found out about it at the end, so keep an eye on the QR code at the coat hangers near the entrance.
The palace is simply fantastic. Interactive, spectacular, comprehensive, entertaining, educational. One can learn a lot about life of an aristocratic household, a must-see to everyone interested in it, highly recommended to Downton Abbey-fans. The cafeteria inside is also of high quality. Prices here a bit high, but one doesnt tend to mind after such an experience.
The castle is renovated with detailed multilingual information boards and visitors center.
Very nicely renovated, displaying a lot of artifacts that take you back in time. New technology implemented to help visitors experience past times. Visited also a Herendi porcelan exhibition in one section of the castle, it was quite impresive. Highly recommend to visit.
The castle itself is really nice with interactive pieces being present for the visitors. However, I was very sad when I saw a real pen with ink asking me to write my letter, yet we didnt receive any paper to write on.I still recommend visiting the museum, but be aware, that you should spend at least 2 hours just to walk through and take a look at things.
Been there twice, awesome place!
Excellent place to check out. Newest sight in the heart of Gyula. A must have for any tourist.
Nice public bath, can spend a day easy.
Amazing, interactive exhibition - available in English, German, and some other languages.Combined ticket - for permanent exhibition with the Mansion Tower, the temporary exhibition and the Castle nearby is 3200 HUF for adults, and still valid for the next day if you take too much time to walk through the exhibitions, like we did.
Best interactive exhibition in the region. Worth it.
Very good exibition, u could easily spend half a day here reading and trying everything, lots of nice interactive content.
State-of-the-art museum about the life in a Hungarian castle. Enjoyable with family and kids.
Amazing interactive exhibition with up to date technology and a lot of creativity.
Easy to find. Nice, renovated castle. Interactive TV navigates you. Nice view on the top to the park.Worth to visit.
