Petite trattoria features classic Italian fare & cocktails in a modern space with a romantic vibe.
Delicious mushroom sage ravioli made even better by sitting next to the owner, who is originally from Milan, and hearing more about the food. Very authentic & lovely place and the pasta was amazing. Only change I’d make is improving the comfort of the bar stools!
Ordered 2 pasta entrees to go. Surprised it came in 2 small boxes. Basically super disappointed in the portion sizes as we paid 50$ in total. Expensive and just taste mediocre. Would not come back ever again. Olive garden would be a better alternative, just saying 😔
Amazing Italian. Very authentic but not hoitey toitey. Standout was the rigatoni pomodoro.
Quite good food. Cocktails were also good if you could manage to flag down the servers which was nearly impossible. Asking for a little more attention didn’t work either. All while who I assume was the owner or manager drank wine at the bar and randomly cleared tables. Not very impressed overall.
Excellent fresh pasta and great hors d’oeuvres!
It didn’t worth 25 min waiting and $35 for this pasta.I don’t know the authentic Italian spaghetti, but this spaghetti was like Ramen or yakisoba noodle, not the spaghetti I know lolAnd the taste was okay not even “good”Definitely not worth $35.I would rather go to Pastini😅
Service was a bit slow but they were severely unstained. Food was very tasty.
Excellent neighborhood Italian restaurant now with much more seating and an always solid seasonal menu.
Wonderful dining experience! Servers were so welcoming and friendly. The flavors in the dishes were creative and incredible, it made for a very fun dinner. Also, the bartender is very talented and even stopped by our table to chat, since my husband tried out a brand new cocktail creation. Overall, I would highly recommend Allora for a special night out!!
Excellent Italian wine list. Wonderfully executed traditional Italian dishes. Particularly good pasta dishes. Extensive dessert menu.
Food was fantastic but out dinner took 2.5hours from the time we got a table to the time we were out of the restaurant(we didn’t order dessert too).
Very nice atmosphere, and great service. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara and it was fantastic!
Love the Spag CarbSmall portions but priced okTwo drinks at the bar, Nebbiolo and Negroni. Small pours. Waited a bit for my to go order after eating the Carb.No real hospitality as my small Negroni was drank swiftly and I was left drinking water for 20 min until my to go order was done.
Dont. Seriously, unless your on a date And youre trying to impress someone with how much you can spend in one night, Youd be better off going to Olive garden and I dont even like Olive garden. They charged me $30 for pasta and clam shells. No sauce, no cheese, no garnish, no bread, no sides!!! It shoore did look good!!!
The pasta was fabulous! Cooked perfectly al dente (as it should be). Great dinner.
Drinks were great! Service was great! Calamari was tasty. Noodles were great! Only gripe is that we wished the ravioli was more stuffed 👍
Went here on Monday evening for dinner with my boyfriend and we snagged two seats at the small bar. Very friendly staff and the drinks and food were incredible! We had the bresaola and pepata for appetizers. For our meals, I had the mixed ravioli (lemon ricotta and mushroomand he had the halibut. Everything was TOP NOTCH. We will be back next time were in Portland.
We got the spaghetti with meatballs and the Carbonara. Meatballs dish was great but the real star of the show was the carbonara. Great…..just great
This place is lovely. Very intimate and cozy vibe with delicious pasta and wine.
Went here for a date night last night and it was perfect. Atmosphere is warm, romantic, cozy and has that lived in, been here for years feel to it. The food was fabulous, we had freshly baked bread and the soup as appetizers and it was SO tasty. The carbonara was to die for, perfectly creamy and delicious. Had a wonderful bottle of wine (they have a fabulous wine list). And the server we had was so lovely, helped us choose the perfect wine! Thanks Allora, you made our night :)
One of the best pastas I’ve ever had. So fresh and yummy. I got the gnocchi ai quattro formaggi.
Wow yum. Fresh made pasta is truly a delight. Lovely ambience. Great cocktails.
Delicious meal and excellent wait staff. Music a bit too loud if sitting upstairs, only complaint.
We went here for our anniversary dinner with our two teenage kids and sat outside in the covered patio area. They do take reservations, but not for the patio. The inside space is on two levels, and great for date night or groups of 4 people. Theres also a private dining space next door.Overall, we enjoyed the food and wine. We werent blown away by anything and some dishes stood out above the others, but its definitely worth a visit.Polenta Fries - nice and crispy on the outside, served with a spicy dipping sauce (which we think is the same as the calamari sauce).Calamari - my daughter wasnt a fan (and she loves calamaribut I really liked how nicely the calamari was cooked and the slight sweet/salty combo of the seasoning in the breading.Spaghetti Carbonara - my son loves carbonara and the one at Allora got two thumbs up. I had a taste and it was, indeed, delicious!Rigatoni Pomodoro e Prosciutto - my husband ordered this and we loved it. The sauce was just right and while he didnt care for the way the prosciutto was sort of just torn by hand and thrown into the dish, it tasted amazing.Spaghetti al Sugo di Carne - I was sadly disappointed in the dish I ordered. The spaghetti tasted old and stale (totally different than the spaghetti that came with my sons carbonara), and the sauce was very bland. I love sugo di carne at most Italian restaurants; this one was a miss. The wine list is a solid list. My husband had a glass of Chianti and I had a glass of Nebbiolo; both were enjoyable.Youll pay $3 for a half order or $6 for a full order of focaccia bread with olive oil. The bread has some red pepper flakes so some bites have a little kick, but the bread itself was fluffy and tasted fresh.Overall, Allora is still a nice neighborhood Italian eatery and I look forward to visiting again. Its a great spot for a glass of wine with friends!
We were able to get right in, just before the rush and tables began filling up right after we were seated. We were seated upstairs. It was cozy and a bit warm. The bench seating was comfy but the chairs were not comfortable for the others in our party. Great drinks and appetizers that got the palate ready for the next round.. For the food, YUM. The ricotta gnocchi is the winner for most at the table but the flank steak with a great chimichurri was a close second but all of the meals were worth it! We took desserts to go and would definitely go back for the Nutella tiramisu.
The ambiance is fantastic, and our server was very nice, but service was spotty. There were several small issues that wouldn’t be a problem if they didn’t all happen. Our drink order was not delivered together, balsamic came after we had eaten the bread we ordered. Not terrible, but slightly disappointing.Until that night/morning when I was hugging the toilet. I still have some bad stomach cramps as of writing this(the next day), I ordered the carbonara and it was a bit scrambled, so maybe there wasn’t enough stirring/aerating with the noodles and the sauce, so the eggs didn’t cook enough. Or someone had some poor hand hygiene. Either way, a very poor experience in an area of Portland with lots of great Italian options.
Pros: good atmosphere and my husband liked half the food we ordered.Cons: expensive and I didnt like the food. Maybe Im too picky, but I just wasnt impressed for the cost.
Great food. Went with the meatballs and rigatoni with salmon and vodka sauce. Sampled the carbonara, ravioli, and gnocchi as well. All top notch.
Always an amazing experience here. The good is fresh, very well made, tastes authentic. I always loved everything we ordered. Met the owner too and hes pretty awesome! Very friendly and helpful staff and romantic setting. Gnocchi is to die for.
We loved it so much that we went twice in one week. I will most likely be going next week as well! The Caesar salad is one of the best I’ve ever had and I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs both times because I loved it so much.
Such gracious service. Delicious house wine. Lovely indoor space and lots of outdoor tables. Loved the Greek salad!
Peaceful and nice little place with awesome staff. The ravioli (especially the lemon stuffed oneswere superb and the gnocchi was great too. It was some of the best Italian food Ive had in a while and I highly recommend it!
Interesting Italian-American restaurant. Different options for everybody.
Great Food…Our experience was awesome. I had the Cioppino and my colleague had the Spaghetti Vongole and we both commented on the how good it was.Unfortunately I had a rough turn of events…We finished dinner around 10:30 and I retired shortly after (stayed at the Canopy). At around 2:00am I woke with extreme diarrhea and again at 4:00 and 6:00… by the time I departed PDX at 1:30 I was 80% back to normal.I’m sure Allora just had a bad batch of something that made it into my meal.In any case I would have no issue returning for another great meal.I wasn’t able to easily find a way of messaging Allora privately as I would done that instead.
Easily the best, most authentic Italian restaurant in Portland. The food, drinks, service, ambiance, etc. are all *perfect* but I personally recommend the caprese salad, spaghetti carbonara, and a Negroni on the rocks, on the front patio if they have room. You can eat quickly is you wish but the dining experience is relaxed and unhurried and you never feel rushed to vacate the table.Paolo, the owner, is often there, engaging with diners and taking orders. Weve never had a less than incredible experience after dozens of visits. Dinner at dusk there feels like a meal at a sidewalk cafe in Rome or Milan. You wont be disappointed!
Service was friendly. Cocktails were good. $15 wine served too warm in a water glass, I put it aside & ordered a beer. $34 cioppino was bland & served luke warm. Some of the seafood was cold - hot food should be served hot - that’s basic. On the other hand, my son enjoyed his pasta. For PDX, the prices are premium & food below average.
No seafood despite the menu showing seafood. We waited 1 hour for our food. Waitress was actually munching on food while working.. wow. Because of a slow service in a Thursday night we missed other spots to try and all other shops were closed.Food was good but chefs were just hanging out
The wait staff was great. The food was underwhelming especially for the price. 20.00 for over cooked gnocchi with a flavorless sauce. The drinks were overpriced for what you get.The Nutella Tiramisu was mediocre.Overall I wouldnt recommend.
Small authentic italian restaurant. Romantic atmosphere. You have to try the gnocchi they melt in your mouth. Very big wine selection.
Absolutely fantastic. Great food, great service.
This a fantastic place and the food is unique and amazing. The staff and owner are fun and friendly. It feels like your own Italian home. Ask the the lobster ravioli in a vodka sauce. Its not a regular menu item but if your lucky enough to go there when its offered youll absolutely fall in love... Thanks for the great time...
BEST AUTHENTIC ITALIAN FOOD EVER. This is my favorite restaurant in the city. The owner and staff are just delightful, the food is incredible, and the atmosphere is perfect. The patio feels like eating on the streets of Verona, Italy, and the inside is charming and welcoming. Also, as someone whos gluten-free, they have the BEST GF gnocchi you can find. Could not recommend Allora more highly!
This is by far the most amazing Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food is to die for. Well worthy of more than 5 stars
My God!!! What a wonderful night at a wonderful restaurant. The food is phenomenal. The zucchini pasta, the carbonara, and the gnocchi were perfect and delicious. The atmosphere was fun and so enjoyable. The staff were personable and engaging. Love it and definitely going on our regular rotation restaurant list.
Beautiful space tucked in between old town and pearl. This loft-style Italian restaurant is very cozy and sweet. Kind staffs, and super delicious pasta. And their tiramisu?... a MUST!!!
House wine was fantastic. Food was mediocre. Noodles were a bit too al dente, sauce was too salty, and the the house bread (foccaciawas hard and dry. With that said, service was great and ambiance was perfect.
Decent place. Food wont blow your mind but its solid and the space is laid back but still nice. Its gem in the Pearl that tends to have too many places trying to be overly fancy.
Delicious food. Portions are on the small side for the price. Definitely a more upscale, wine-drinking kind of place. Its romantic and beautiful to sit outside!
This is one of these restaurants that I wanted to like more that I did, unfortunately. For a place that bills itself as a "romantic spot," the noise from conversation was deafening. Theres no way you would be able to hear your date, unless your forehead were touching. Maybe thats what they mean by romantic. The food, based upon the stingy portions, was delicious and well prepared. I swear I could count the number of spaghetti strands in my bowl. They charge an extra three dollars for bread (??which had awesome taste and texture. It was very busy last Friday night and our waitress was overwhelmed, so her service was underwhelming. A very mixed review. It might be a while before I try this place again.
Since we came back from Italy in October, weve been trying to find a place similar to the food. Thats how I ended up here. Small place, no AC, thats fine, since Italy is like this. The dishes seemed very similar to the originals. And some of the meals were ok.The bruschetta was delicious, and the a la vodka was, too. The gnocchi di quattro formaggi was sour, watery, and unappetizing. I left most of it to my husband to eat, and even so the portions are quite small. We ended the day with one empty stomach and one hurting stomach (mine since I suffer from gastroenteritis).I dont know if I want to go back, but if I do, itll be for the simple dishes, not the pastas. A shame. My quest for italian food continues.
