Public 18-hole golf course with a lit driving range, practice areas, Italian restaurant & pro shop.
If youre looking for a "municipal/public" course, Id look at Bethlehem Muni, or the various other public courses in the area. The staff at Allentown is rude & unaccommodating. After agreeing to pay a fee for my 11 yr old son to ride along and enjoy a family golf outing with us, we were threatened by a grumpy starter who threatened to throw us off the course after the 3rd hole bc "he cant be here", yet they had no problem taking a fee for him. Also was told by the same starter after his request for our paid receipt (all fees for 32 players were on one receiptto "just wait longer" for someone to help us inside at the pro shop because he wouldnt give us a cart without a receipt. The course also was in disrepair on almost every hole, you could find a better and more friendly track for he money this "municipal" course charges, Id give it 0 stars if I could.
Have great food in a great atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly. My favorite place.
Really great course. Only thing missing is a cart girl, or water on the course 👍
Amazing transformation of this course, staff was very friendly and informative. Great place to challenge your game.
One of the nicest public courses in the Valley. They also have a driving range and short game practice area.
The slow play is caused by walkers during prime tee times on a weekend. Walkers shouldnt be allowed until 2pm on weekends.
Golf course in great shape, the greens are smooth and fast
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course. I played it last year when I was passing through and made it a point to come back this year and it didnt disappoint. Hope to be back again soon.
One of a few golf ⛳ course you wouldnt lose interest of playing on.
Great condition. Very fair course and fun.Jacks Slice great place to finish your round!Easy ride from Philly Burbs.
Great local course. Typically kept in good condition as well. Having a wide range of tee boxes helps extend length for long hitters which is nice.
Excellent and well kept. Staff is friendly and dont let the word municipal fool you, this is a very good gild course.
Course is in great shape lots of sand traps and its very tight but its a challenging course for sure go try it out
The starters are great people. Rick specifically has been a great guy to talk with.
Clean track, greens are in good shape
We had a great time!
Stopped by for some food at their restraunt it was really good and affordable. Staff was great
Decent, kind of short. Some greens had sections that were severely bare and bumpy
The driving range is in decent condition. However one of the vending machines used to fill the bucket with range balls malfunctioning.
Always s great time at Allentown Municipal. Reasonable fees. However, some of the greens were not up to the courses usual standards
In the last 5 years this has become one of the best course in the area. Always well maintained, pace of play is good. Just a great course, especially considering it’s a muni.
Decent course for the price. Greens are typically well maintained. A lot of people like to walk this course, so expect a slower pace of play.
Wow! Course and greens were in really wonderful condition for a sunny day in December! Didnt expect that! Cant wait to be over shoulder surgery and get back again. Thanks for a great day!
Well kept public golf course, played here many times never disappointed. Bar and restaurant also nice place to stop after the round.
UPDATE - 2021Pace of play has greatly improved here and the course is in great shape.I initially gave the course 2 stars but have upgraded the review to reflect these awesome changes. Keep up the great work!OLD REVIEW:Been playing for years, and conditions get better each year. However, there is no excuse for slow play and the management does nothing about it. It will be a scheduling conflict if you play here. Theres a certain class of person that traditionally plays slow, dont fix ball marks, and spend $0 in the club house and restaraunts. You know who you are, and until the management does something about it, me and my friends will not be coming back.
This is now the second time that my cards are not accepted at Allentown municipal golf course. Since it is the second time that this is happening I would say that Allentown municipal is either into controlling or they hate Jesus Christ. So I’m not going to give them any more of my money I don’t know about you guys but that’s Pursley what I’m going to do
Beautiful course! Very well maintained, greens and tee boxes were excellent. I would highly recommend this course.
Great course and always in good shape
Course was in great shape when I played.. its well maintained. Very player friendly but challenging... Great clubhouse and proshop with lighted automated driving range.
Started our 1st golf lessons, enjoyed it. Jeff Wambold is a great golf instructor, takes his time, looking forward to more golf lessons!
One of the best (if not the bestmunicipal course I have ever plaid. The course is in great shape. Pace of play is surprisingly good (for a municipal course). I am new to the area, but I am excited that this is my closest course. The price, the convenance and course condition make it a win/win/win. I will become a course member next year.
One of the best municipal courses I have ever played. Traps could use a refresh, but over all a great track that has some very challenging roughs. Hitting fairways and greens definitely rewards you.
Nice municipal golf course. Pretty easy course, so its great for beginners. People are generally nice as well. Driving range has mats, but many people hit from the grass right in front. The ball machine takes great cards, which is very convenient.
Fun straightforward layout. Course was well cared for. Pin positions range from reasonable to the grounds keeper had a hangover.
I dont know why I havent played this beautiful golf course before. Well run and well maintained municipal golf course. Worth the drive to enjoy this facility.
Clean a very beautiful course. The pro shop was well stocked and had exactly what I needed. The course we seriously one of the best Ive ever visited. The bar and the restaurant were amazing, the pizza was well above average and among the best Ive ever had. The service was bright helpful and fast. Had a fantastic time. Will be back.
Course is in good shape to start the year. Greens were a little slow but fine otherwise. Jonathan at Jacks Slice took good care of our league social afterwards...
I am a complete rookie at golf and went to the driving range there. A seasoned player made conversation with me and gave me some advice on where to start and suggested I take a few private lessons if I wanted to learn the game. I thought that was great because I felt that as a rookie I wasnt competing against a click of people who would look down at my (poorattempts to hit the ball. I went into the club house and the guy at the pro shop was great and gave me all the information to set up lessons.
Course in good shape. Sand in bunkers. Greens good. Only thing I would complain about is carts werent wipe off. Got drenched the first few holesMay be battery operated blower would work..
As more and more driving ranges and golf courses close, AMG remains a reliable option for improving your swing. The driving range is lit until 10pm and is a perfect place to get kids interested in golf for minimal cost.
Wonderful course for a municipal. Totally revamped over the past couple of years. Greens in great shape. Restaurant on premise is awesome, great food and live entertainment every night. Superb patio!
The course is in good shape, but the whole set up for covid 19, is just mass confusion, and Im not sure how much is actually being done to the carts to make them safe. When finished we parked carts in a line where we picked them up, and I saw no wipe station, or clean out area, not even a hose. Concerned me very much. If they are wiped down or cleaned, its not obvious that people can see. The carts are right out in the open that youd be able to see. I was uncomfortable, but maybe theres more to it that you dont see. Take your chances, I know I wont go back because I dont trust it. Your own call
The course itself is pretty good. Its in great shape currently across the board. Really impressive for a municipal course especially. During Covid19 they have done an exceptional job managing the guidelines for the safety of the golfers and employees.
It is good to play golf by walk.
They really cleaned-up the course nicely! The locker rooms can use some TLC. Jacks Slice is a nice sports pub for the golfers and general community. A few more tweaks and this can become a destination golf club/sports pub.
Nice course. Went to watch my son play in a tournament there.. not being a golfer, I thought it looked nice and laid out well. My son said his team liked playing there so Ill give them at least a 4 star..
Played the course for a church fundraiser tournament. It was nice. Im a beginner so it wasnt too difficult. The driving range is in rough shape. First time I went there it took a while to get the ball machine to dispense. And today it was empty. There were about 6 of us waiting to get balls and the guy at the front of line put about $20 in it and got nothing. Another guy called the shop and got no answer. Grounds crew guy told us we could go picking for balls out on the range if we wanted. So thats what some people did.
This is a nice course, right in the middle of Allentown. Theres a good amount of water and other hazards to add a little bit of difficulty. The self-serve driving range and on-site dining options also make this a great place to plan a golf outing.
Played this course for the 1st time this year, in the last week of April. The greens were in very good condition.I must say that I was very impressed by the course renovations that are taking place here (new bridges, nuisance tree and brush removal, interesting landscaping improvements and more). While it will take a while for the new landscaping to mature, I enjoyed my round and plan to up the frequency of my visits. What had been an average municipal course has now gotten its long overdue facelift. Making it much more friendly for the mid to high handicap players, while still offering a respectable challenge for low handicappers. Its nice to see a local municipal course on the upswing.Congratulations on a job well done!
Love the course. Great conditions with really nice vistas, some holes are challenging while other reward straight drives and approach shots. Pace of play is what youd expect for a municipal course. Wouldve rated it 5 stars but the people that work there are down right miserable. The pro shop especially. I was considering becoming a member but am holding off until they make some personel changes and improve the member amenities to include the locker rooms.
