Updated - went again today and had literally the best food ive had all year! Alkaline Burger is delicious!!So so so good! Cant wait to go back and try everything on the menu! Delicious food, friendly staff, great music and very chilled atmosphere.

Alkalise your body and improve your health …I’ve wanted to eat here since I moved north in November and it’ll be the first of many visits from now on.Our first time here with a table for 5 and all sharing meant we tasted a big section of the menu (see images of the menu). Each of the portions was very generous to say the least. What amazed us all we’re the complex flavour combinations. They were slightly weird on some but they all worked and very well too.Alkaline Nachos £10.95 - Nachos with marinated baked quinoa, topped with refried beans, cashew sour cream, guacamole, pineapple salsa and pickled red cabbage. All with a smoked cashew cheese drizzle over. They were indulgent, sweeter than I’ve had before and had tangy twist too.BBQ Tacos £9.50 - Shredded carrot in an alkaline BBQ sauce in a crispy corn shell, filled with refried beans and guacamole. Topped with pineapple salsa and pickled red cabbage, served with a side salad. Best BBQ tacos in the north so far.Thai Buddy Bowl £10.95 - Orange teriyaki chickpea tofu surrounded by, pineapple fried quinoa, purple coleslaw, a thai side salad, with an almond and ginger dressing and quinoa falafels topped with mango chutney. Crazy flavours that worked really well. This was my favourite dish and I could eat this most days of the week. I’ll be back for this dish on its own.Thai Wrap £9.95 - Quinoa and peanut butter falafels in a soft wrap with mango chutney, coleslaw and kimchi served with a thai side salad, with an almond and ginger dressing and pineapple quinoa. A mental combination of ingredients for a falafel but was amazing. Again, sweeter than I’d have imagined.Pink Pitaya Acai Bowl - £5.50 - A fruity smoothie bowl topped with raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, banana kiwi and coconut (we held the seeds). What an amazing breakfast. A real power breakfast too.Immunity Boost Juice £4.00 (x2- Strawberry, pear, apple and lemon juice. Refreshing and moreish.Tropical Sunrise Smoothie £4.50 - Papaya, mango, orange, banana, coconut, maple and cashew smoothie. It was as nice as you’d expect and none of the fruits lost their identity due to the power of another.Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie £4.50 - Strawberries, banana, peanut butter, maple and lemon smoothie. Another one that doesn’t quite sound right but really does. The peanut butter was not overpowering and provided a nice earthy grainy taste and texture, lifted by the sweetness of the fruit.A great experience and worth the wait.Would I recommend - Yes - I’d insist you go for the flavours and filling plates alone.Will I return. Anyone who doubts how tasty vegan food can be needs to visit Alkaline Kitchen. Very tasty dishes served by friendly staff. It really is hard to believe such food is vegan, and well be visiting again, not because it is vegan, but because it is delicious!

Delicious food, nice presentation with groovy crockery and deco. Not had healthy soul food like this in middlesbrough before. Will be coming back!

Joyful almond acai bowlVariety of fruit, nuts, and seeds was wonderful with lovely presentation.Coconut and mango curryThe flavour of the curry was beautifully infused into the vegetables, however it was quite sweet and without a more savoury flavour to balance it out, those without a sweet tooth may find it too much.Smoked cheese and pickle toastieLarger and more varied salad portion than expected which I appreciated. Had a great balance between sweet and savoury overall with the toastie being much better than the non-vegan version.

Alkaline Kitchen is the best of its kind. Simply can’t fault the food. Perfect ambience, healthy fresh ingredients and the most friendly customer service from Luke. Will definitely be visiting again and again!

Lovely plant-based menu with a lot to choose from. Its honestly hard to pick! Incredibly tasty food. Loses a star for not following request to leave off one ingredient I dont like, meaning I had to throw away much more than I would have liked to.

Very nicely surprised to find not one but two wholly vegan eateries in Middlesbrough. Alkaline,as the name suggests, does proper whole food nutrition and its great.

Brilliant place.Not just the best vegan food but the best food if any kind youre likely to find in a UK restaurant. One day the chef from here is going to be on MasterChef. So get there quick before it goes all upmarket.

Its small but comfortable, the food tastes amazing and they have a good variety

We travelled to Middlesbrough especially to go here. We loved it! The buddha bowl was so huge I didnt need dinner. Everything was made fresh had had such unique flavours, it was a wholesome foodie experience. My hubby was very pleased with the gluten free options too - so happy to have been there.

I got a takeaway for lunch on my last visit. A toastie made fresh with lots of salad. It was delicious.

Googled Vegan Food while driving south past Middlesbrough and Alkaline Kitchen popped up. A quick 5 min diversion and we got parking in the street just outside ‘Bonus!’. Just finished a Breakfast Burrito and half of my wife’s Beetroot burger. Washed down with a vitamin juice. No word of a lie this is the best Vegan kitchen I’ve ever been to. Awesome food, great staff, clean and funky dinning area. A hidden gem 💎

Love, loved it. Food was fantastic so fresh and very tasty. Had the BBQ tacos, hubby, had the burrito, I pinched a bite and didnt know whos was best, reality both perfect. Nachos the choice of our daughter and not a vegan but she was very impressed, may sway her still. Definitely will be back. Oh by the way gorgeous drinks too, if you dont feel like a bite to eat

Stopped in here for lunch earlier.Absolutely delicious food and healthy too.I have been vegan for around 15 years and can honestly say this is one of the nicest places I have been to. It was difficult to choose from the menu. Shame I live in London else I would be back very soon!

Amazing spot for plant based vegan food in teeside. Theres no where else like it. Absolutely gorgeous, healthy, fresh food, the flavours are just incredible... by anyones standards. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Fantastic range of dishes. I had the chickpea omelette which was delicious, filling and packed full of healthy ingredients. Service was quick and staff were friendly.

Excellent vegan food been back a couple times now thoroughly enjoyed it the flavours are mad in each dish. Very fresh and generous portions. For some reason when I have eaten here in the afternoon it has done me all day 🙃. But can definitely say is a must try even the drinks are next level 👌🏽 nice warm and friendly service to.

Another beautiful meal at this outstanding restaurant. I had the Indian Buddha Bowl this time and every bit of it was delicious. I cant recommend this restaurant highly enough, if its good healthy food beautifully presented that youre after Alkaline Kitchen is the place to go!

Delicious vegan food. Packed with loads of diverse flavours, and the place has been designed very well and looks awesome on the inside. Very friendly and helpful staff. I recommend this place to anybody, even if you are not vegan or vegetarian – the food is still amazing.

Had a great lunch here today. The "Indian Buddha bowl" was supertasty, and the Raw Millionaires shortbread was a clever take on the coffee shop staple. The menu looks interesting, with all the teas and coffee served. As a 100% non-vegan I didnt feel that "meat free" was "fun free". Highly recommended!

The food here is the best vegan food I have tasted .Forget the fake meats and replica vegan dishes because the choices here are 5 star in their own class.The flavours and textures and colours of the dishes are soo good .Its beautifully presented and the service is fantastic

What can I say other than its absolutely fabulous! I met a friend for lunch who is not remotely vegan and she loved it too. Great vegan food and presented beautifully. The portion size is generous and excellent value for money. The staff were great and very knowledgeable about the food. Decor is very retro and it has a lovely, welcoming vib. Definitely what Middlesbrough has needed for a long time. Well done Alkaline Kitchen.

Went on Saturday teatime with my partial vegan hubby lovely place to eat fresh healthy food, girls were very welcoming and friendly, hubby enjoyed the tacos /2 different fillings I had the duo of curries, delicious, also a tropical smoothie & to finish a fabulous choc mousse, looking forward to our next visit xx

Incredible tasty whole foods, nothing processed here and no nasty animal products either which are obviously cruel and bad for the planet! The staff are so friendly too! Gorgeous atmosphere!

his place is amazing!!I loved everything about it, cruelty free food at a very high standard.We plan all our holidays and trips around good vegan food and have eaten in some incredible restaurants around the world - this place is up there with the best of them.Delicious flavours, really well presented, with a well thought out variety of colours, textures and nutrients in each dish. The meals are filling and good sized portions and reasonably priced.We got the omelette, tacos and mini quiches.The cafe has a really cool vibe and decor and the staff were so lovely and helpful.It’s so hard to find ‘good’ vegan food in the UK that isn’t just fried junk food; so I am soooo excited to finally know of a vegan restaurant in the North East which ticks all the boxes at such a high standard.We would highly recommend this place to non vegans too- the dishes speak for themselves.I love there motto “Keep It Kind” ❤️❤️

I would eat here every day if I lived in Middlesbrough! I love supporting independent businesses and this young couple will give you a warm welcome and they know so much about the alkaline vegan way of eating. I always leave with new knowledge. The tastes and flavours of the food is tantalising for the tastebuds. I always feel nourished after a trip here :-)

What more can I say ? Im a committed carnivore but the friend I was meeting is vegan so we met here. Food was amazing-I had Bbq tacos. Beautifully presented and so fresh with fantastic flavour combinations, highly recommended. Lovely, friendly staff too , funky decor, has a general good feel about the place .

Ordered a slice of mock pizza falafel thing from their snacky menu, was delighted and totally surprised with the colourful array of dip and side salad that came with it, you can tell they really go the extra mile with their food and its all freshly made! Reasonably priced, welcoming staff, cosy atmosphere, decent wifi! Will definitely be back for dinner. The only problem I see is that as more people discover it theyll run out of space, its a good job they do it to takeaway.

Staff were friendly and helpful, food was delicious. They are locally owned. Food is all vegan but would also be good if youre not vegan and just looking for a healthy option.

Slightly out of the way, but that only lends this new establishment a hidden-gem adornment. A sparse but meticulously artistically decorated interior elicits artisan feel, and the presentation of the food only exemplifies that. Plates arranged beautifully whet the appetite, whilst the exquisite flavours satisfy beyond expectation. The staff, welcoming and friendly, continue the natural relaxed environment making this a place I will certainly return to.
