Alchemy Speakeasy Bar Taipei - Cocktail bar in Taipei, Taiwan
Chill place and cocktail with quality💯
Awesome cocktails but the music was a bit too loud.
Pretty good speakeasy with jazz, wooden interiors and dimmed light; its actually inside another bar (MQ)
Prohibition style cocktail bar with cozy ambiance.
One of my favourite speakeasy bar in Taipei. Tea-based cocktail is good.
Mood vibe yassss 10/10. Drinks could be stronger though but I’m a tequila lady so..
Unfortunately I had a very bad experience: the staff received me poorly and with a wrong attitude, especially this guy Edison (probably the bar managerI went to the bar because my friend was singing there that night and I was expecting relaxing, lovely and exclusive ambience BUT it turned out to be the worst night for me.I won’t go back and I’m not recommending you go either.
Favorite speakeasy bar in Taipei. They’ve got whatever you want. Classy, modern fusion with fresh ingredients blended. Drinks are tasty. Bartenders are professional and friendly. I love the bar seats and the smoking area. Smoking area is semi outdoor with Marquee view. Love the choice of music. Love the vibes. Absolutely love it here.
The space reminds you of winter. The fries with truffle mayo and chicken tender were really good. The cocktail I had had strong wood tasting notes. The alcohol could have been more complex but it was still a nice drink.Really friendly service. Overall good experience.
Amazing minimalistic 3-piece live jazz, hampered by noisy and inattentive staff trying to be a fancy cocktail bar.
Nice place with chilled cocktails. Back to prohibition era.
Absolutely amazing experience. The cocktails, Beginning of Prohibition and Bank of Mafia, are amazing if youre looking for depth and bold flavor. Their whiskey is smooth and customer service is excellent, though it was very busy, Kelvin was still very attentive and on point. Will come again!
Cosy old school woody whisky bar with a good selection of drinks and skilled bartenders. They also have a great jazz piano trio on Thursday nights from 9:30-11:30pm.
Pros: Creative, tasty and beautifully presented cocktails; amazing live music available on certain days. Cozy, speakeasy vibe.Cons: Takes forever to get drinks; pricey - can get prompter service for the same quality drinks elsewhere. And the interior is very dark - walking to the bathroom is like entering the abyss.
Great bar and nice atmosphere. Bartenders are nice and friendly. Not a loud place so you can enjoy conversations with class.
Speakeasy and cool doesn’t even belong in the same sentence as Alchemy. First there’s a damp smell in the air, the staff don’t know nothing about having a conversation when you speak English, a rather slim choice on Gin and Whisky for a bar like this, drinks are made well though... but I don’t think we’ll be back, there are plenty of good bars around.
Delicious but dang they SLOW. We ordered Pimm’s Cup & Masu Punch (both gr8t)
Really cozy upclose bar that facilitates conversations. If you wanna have a relaxed feel with a small group or your partner this is it. I got the feel of an old town Japanese speakeasy bar (made to look European).Strong drinks and concoctions that excite the senses. Loved Smokey drinks.
A great place to bring friends. Everyone feels their own drink is most special.
Place is very comfortable and very nice staff. Great drinks!
Came with my best friend on a Friday night. Such a nice bar with good vibes and special cocktails. And the location is convenient as well (101 MRT station exit3)Recommend those who want to enjoy a bit more chill time come after 23:00-24:00 as there will be less people around. The staffs are really friendly, I enjoy their sense of humors ☺️Definitely try Heart of Aztec 👌🏻
We visited Alchemy after a short stint at R&D (another bar I recommend). The bar is on the second story of the building and has ample room for large and small parties. The menu has 20+ interesting drinks, focusing primarily on modern interpretations of classics. The staff was attentive (even though it was a slower nightbut were noticeably bored between making drinks. The cocktails were well made though the drinks I tried all seemed to be on the sweeter side.It feels very much like a hotel bar — with all the options in Taipei, I don’t know if I would come back again. It was a bit impersonal. The one thing this bar does have is ample room: I could see this as a great location for larger parties.
Super cool speakeasy with great drinks. House have us each a whiskey shot as well. Drinks are between 350 to 450 new Taiwan dollars so it is fairly priced. Ambient is very classy and chill.Overall I would rate this place with the following:Location: 10/10Ambient: 10/10Taste: 9/10Service: 10/10Price: 8/10
Definitely my favorite bar in Taipei! It serves wonderful cocktails that gives you surprises in its appearances and tastes (strongly recommend all the signature cocktails), with the nice jazz music there all the time and the nice decoration, it creates an elegant and relaxing atmosphere. Its hidden entrance also makes it fun and a feeling of privacy when you try to find it. The best thing is, it is really a speakeasy bar!
Visited this place on 7/14/19. I love the vibe because its not super loud which can damage your hearing and voice. Drinks were decent and they do make signature cocktails that were so cool by flamed and smoked the garnish. Excellent service too! Speicially Victor was the guy did a great job checking on customers and making sure our party was satisfied. I am so positive that I will be back again!
Service is extremely slow, even if the bar is not packed at all. Been waiting for easily 30 minutes and more for drinks twice. There were like 4 tables and around 4 people at the bar, yet the two bartenders seemed to be overwhelmed. Ive seen a single bartender serve more tables and still deliver consistent quality at other locations.Mojito was very good, Gin & Tonic on the other hand tasted like lemonade (?)There was a very decent live Jazz band there, which added a nice touch to the very good decor of the place. However, we left after waiting easily half an hour for two drinks. The bar has a nice flair and Im very sad that I cant recommend it, it has a lot of potential.
Fancy bar around 101 building. The price is quite high, but cocktails here are that much nice! You may want to dress up to visit this place, because it deserves it. I enjoyed it so much and definitely want to visit here again.
This bar located on the 2nd floor of the building. First thing you need to know is you have to tell the reception counter that you wanted to go to alchemy bar and they will open a secret door for you. If you walked in and didnt mention this... They will take you to another cheesy bar on the 1st floor. In conclusion, great cocktails, nice interior, good jazz music BUT the staffs barely speak English and things can go wrong in many ways.
One of the best bars Ive been to. Love vintage interiors with lot of wood and leather. Jazz music playing throughout is really blissful and creates an amazing vibe. Cocktail and Whisky menu is good.
Not really a fan.If you dont have table then you might need luck to get a seat at the bar, which will be difficult too since everyone is waiting for one.The drinks price can range from 300~1k depending on what you order, no entrance fee.The staff tried their best to give us attention but it was just too crowded.Toilet is really clean!
Very cool small speakeasy bar with great cocktails and friendly bartenders. They only take as many customers as they have seats for so make sure to make a reservation. They also have live Jazz twice a week on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
love the “Jazz Age” style decoration and vibe, great music and cocktails. One of my favourite jazz bar in Taipei City
Love the vibes here. Especially during weekdays when its not too crowded and just chilling with good cocktails and jazz music. I love their ambrosia. Its my favorite. The staffs are friendly. Good place for a drink or two.
Alchemy bar could probably be one of the best bar in TPC, owing to its decoration, drinks , food and service. Moreover, the music show will start at around 2230!
Great "Hidden" bar. Superb atmosphere. Try the Masu Punch for something different.
Classy speakeasy. Intimate setting. Some of the best cocktails I ever had.
Best place to visit if you’re a cocktail fan. The quality is superb. 5-star for the service and the drinks (of course, it comes with 5-star price)The place is a little bit tiny. Advance reservation is recommended.Good seletion of drink but the cocktail is a must try.
Nice view, vibes and drinks with reasonable price in Taipei
Its one place, wont go wrong with wine and spiritsNot sure about cocktailsBut nachos are quite good!
There is a more exclusive bar upstairs that you need reservations for. This bar is overpriced and seems to take advantage of the fact that people that really want to be upstairs will some times wait a long time for a spot to open up. On the upside, the French bartender was pretty cool and the cocktails were creative and delicious.
Music is good and atmosphere is good. Service is mediocre.
The place is quite nice, intimate, good ambient that emanates some sort of class as they do have a dress code. Not so many cocktails in the menu but the bartenders are pros and can deliver pretty much any drink mix if required. They even have a indoor smoking place... the only down i can think of is that one must make a reservation to get in otherwise is not gonna work out.
Really LOVED everything about this place- great ambiance, jazz music, top drinks, great service. Highly recommended! Favorite Speakeasy in Taipei for me :)
Great bar design and vibe. Love the cocktails there great selections. The seats are cozy and nice. Great place to chill and have a drink. I will definitely come again
Make a reservation, there is often a waiting list. Sit at the bar, the bartender will recommend you something great
Drinks were good but service fairly average.I made a reservation via Facebook because their website was down due to being updated, and when we arrived they had no notice of the reservation at the door. I showed them the messages confirming it and somehow they still seemed confused. When we left everyones umbrellas were scattered messily across the floor by the door and we had to spend a while trying to retrieve our hotel umbrella.Glad we went and the drinks were fairly good, but Ive had better experiences at other speakeasy bars. After a few drinks we ordered some fries with ketchup and truffle Mayo which were very good. Probably wouldnt rush back anytime soon though.
Drinks were very one dimensional... The chrysanthemum fizz tasted like sprite and the masu punch was overly sweet.
Came on a Thursday night (with a reservationand the bar was very lively. Decor and ambiance were pretty spot on and the jazz band played well and wasnt overwhelmingly loud.I was a bit disappointed by how average the drinks were for the slightly high price. I ordered the Ruby Bellini and Hurricane Smash which were tasty and all, but nothing really special. Also didnt like that they had a 2 drink minimum per personOverall, an okay bar to visit if you are in the area
Great but need to book to ensure you are not left out. Good cocktails and a decent selection of spirits. The ambiance is really cool and warm. Highly recommended plus it is next to Taipei 101 so you get the view at night of the tower. Best cocktail was "masu Punch"
A secret bar upstairs from Marquee. They create amazing handcrafted cocktails and have a live jazz band every week, awesome! A nice place to go if youre looking for somewhere hidden and relaxing.
