Intimate, sophisticated eatery featuring seasonal Mediterranean plates & sustainably sourced wines.
Excellent blend of flavours using an interesting combination of ingredients. Recommend here your after something different to the average standard main meals. Service was very good.
Amazing food, fantastic flavours and for someone who loves meat Im suprising myself by saying the veggie dishes were my favourite. Very good value for the standard of the food and cooking. Waiting staff were friendly and knowledgeable and I enjoyed being able to see the chefs at work. Will definitely be back!
Fantastic!! We discovered this place by accident, browsing through streets of Glasgow, what a gem!! friendly staff, and food was just fenomenal, love the idea of sharing dishes!! Great atmosphere, highly recommended.Cant wait to be back!!
Alchemilla sits in an understated shop front in an area of Glasgow that looks worn out or run-down. Dont let this put you off. The menu at Alchemilla is more than it looks. The dishes are supremely delicious and that mention on the door regarding Michelin excellence is well deserved. We totally enjoyed our meal, the ambience, atmosphere and general appeal of the Alchemilla. Would I recommend Alchemilla? Most definitely, specially if you enjoy finr dining. If there were six stars, Alchemilla would rate the extra.
Alchemilla is amazing, heard about it loads and it more than lived up to expectations, 5 ⭐
Great place to eat. Very friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Small-ish selection of dishes but very well made and a very good quality of food. Really enjoyed my dinner there.
Just brilliant. Never had cauliflower that tastes so good. Amazing how the chefs can take something simple and construct a dish that excites the palate so much.Would eat here every day if I could!Service is also fantastic.
Brilliant small plate/tapas bar. Plates of tasty, inventive food like monkfish or cods roe with roasted carrots. Thee cauli is amazing, as was the burnt aubergine sauce. Cool continental lager helps to promote a lovely casual evening.
Nice concept, larger style tapas type servings, intended for sharing. Staff were friendly and very helpful and the food is delicious. They even made a portion of the cod without butter especially for the two members of our party who were lactose intolerant, and gave it on the house. Oh, and great tunes😊
One of the best dinners I have ever had. Everything was absolutely delicious, the waiters were very nice and helpful with choosing the tapas. Strongly recommend!
The food was delicious, the ambience inviting and warm and our waitress friendly and attentive. In spite of these positives however, I am leaving a single star review due to the portion sizes. I am struggling to imagine a world where that price is justified for what are essentially bar snacks. After the meal was over I still had a resounding hunger and had to cook an extra meal at home while being £30 out of pocket. Far better portion to price ratios for just as good food can be found in Glasgow.
3rd visit to Alchemilla. The food offerings and the service are outstanding, and continue to impress with each visit! The choice of dishes is just perfect, and the bread & oil is a superb appetiser to get the taste buds going. Will definitely be back again
Really average for this price range in Glasgow. The small plate menu is a bit on the limited side and what yhey do have doesnt flavor pair well together at all.The sea bream was by far the best thing we had, and that was delicious. The octopus almost got there but it was over cooked (too tough& chard, which overpower the flavor. The downstairs dining room lacks ambience,Is cold, and old wooden church pews are more comfortable than those hard chairs. But you wont do much better on ground level or upstairs, all those confines are really tightStaff was super nice but overall experience was very disappointing. I cant recommend it.
I genuinely have never tasted something like this before! The dishes are small and delightful allowing you to have many different blissful food experiences in one evening. I really recommend this place to anyone who is visiting or living in Glasgow!
Beautiful food and especially amazing service. The waitress was so friendly and wrote down for us a list of recommendations to explore Glasgow. Even the chefs were very chilled and welcoming. Pigeon and chicken liver were soooo good. Also the cauliflower dish was so tasty! Would recommend
Love this place so much, going for the 2nd time last night. The food is just so perfect in every way. Yes a little bit pricier but it really is a treat of delicious and surprising flavours and so worth it for the taste. The staff are lovely too. We even made pals with the people sitting next to us - it just feels like a nice place to be. My only tiny gripe was that they didn’t have focaccia this time round as last time we went it was our favourite thing on the menu! But in fact it doesn’t really matter as the food is just fab.
Wonderful we were able to get two seats at the bar. Sharing plates so small portions that said OMG would be a reasonable phrase. Food was cooked to perfection, with some fantastic flavour combinations. We ordered some sourgh dough bread from Freedom bakery 👍 BTW. The bread came with some olive oil, which was just a revelation such incredible flavours. We will be back. Next time we will book at table. As this time it was by fantastic chance we got seats at the bar. Lets mention the staff, knowledge friendly and delightful. Over the top review, go along and let me know if I am wrong, I think you will agree.
Fantastic wee restaurant, with attentive staff. I’ve been wanting to go for ages and it didn’t disappoint. The burrata was extraordinary, all other dishes were really tasty too, even the bread. The dishes are a bit on the pricey side considering the size but they are delicious and not pretentious. The quality of the product and skills of the chefs speak for themelves. This maybe my new favourite place to eat in Glasgow.
It was a meal of two halves. The vegitarian dishes were extraordinary; the fish dishes were good, but a bit off balance. Its often true that chefs need to work harder to make humble vegitables work while fish is often left to carry the load. I look forward to exploring more of their menu. Nice atmosphere and music as well.
The restaurant is a cute little intimate location in the interesting area of finnieston. The lighting, ambiance and staff were great and serve the restaurant well. The food however was a bit of a disappointment for me. Dont get me wrong the dishes were well prepared but it was a bit expensive for small plates and had more of a side dish to a main meal feel about them. Location 5/5, staff 5, food 3, price 2, drinks 4.
This was a lovely evening. Alchemilla is effectively a tapas place with a strong organic leaning. The dishes were really unusual and interesting: very nicely done octopus, marinated raw mullet, a Spanish variety of black pudding and other things of which I cant recall the names. My mouth is watering as I write. Staff were relaxed and friendly. Im not a fan of organic wines but the "rustique" Italian we had was very passable. It made a nice evening out for us with my daughter on her birthday.
Delicious food and great cocktails!
Awesome dining experience, great friendly staff. Selection of small plates was excellent with a great mix of flavours and choice with plenty of options for vegetarians alike. Would of of given it 5 stars bar the limited selection of beer despite their good selection of wine, descriptions of the dishes would of been nice and the prices were steeper than expected for their meat dishes.
Great food, great service. They effectively managed to make space for us on a busy night – we got in and out in 1 hour. They recommend 2-3 dishes so expect 20-35 £ per person for food
Really enjoyed this place first couple times. The staff were into it and the food is genuine, well made and really tasty. Lovely wine and excellent cocktails. Small plates lark but once settled it’s really easy and fun to buy into the whole deal.Prices touch steep but you’re left feeling pretty good with it. Going again etc*Been again. New owners? New chefs?felt neither as generous in vibe or food - relatively speaking.
Service is wonderful, and the ingredients were fresh and nicely presented, and there is a lot of attention going into the dishes, but its just not my cup of tea as I found the flavours really bland. Portions are also small, so keep that in mind. I wouldnt come back for the food, but its worth checking out for yourself
Outstanding food, friendly atmosphere, definitely will be back!
We spent our anniversary night here and would again. Id recommend about 2-3 plates each, as each portion is small, but sharing works well. Really worth trying as much of the menu as you can as each dish has such unique flavour. We had a variety of veg and meat dishes, dont be fooled - the veggie options are just as flavourful and filling as the meat or fish. Everything was cooked brilliantly and the service was awesome. Great wine selection. Cant fault it. Will be back!
If you like to share plates and try new things, you will love Alchemilla. They really celebrate ingredients, everything is very seasonal, and the vegetable dishes are just as special as the fish and meat ones. Loved it, will definitely be back if I visit Glasgow again.
Awesome food ...they know how to make a vegetable exciting 💕....and the octopus 🥰
Some of the best food in Glasgow.Delicious, clean dishes that are always an absolute delight. Weve been here a few times and always look forward to returning. The food is very good value and they offer some lovely wines too.I personally preferred the atmosphere and experience of sitting on the balcony rather than the basement, but it is a bit more cosy up there.
We came to Glasgow from UK for only 3 days. We booked this restaurant online from England as it was recommended to us. We did not eat lunch as wanted to really enjoy our evening meal and it was a birthday treat for us. We arrived at restaurant and got taken up to mezzanine where we had to try and squeeze past a pipe and seated customers. We got into a tiny corner with two stalls and this tiny shelf that was only wide enough for a tea plate. We said we have come here for a special dinner not to sit on stalls side by side on a shelf. It was obvious it was overbooked and they had tried to squash us in. We just left ! How disappointing!
One of the best restaurants in Glasgow in my opinion. Incredible small plates which are well thought out; something different and always changing. I had octopus which had been cooked for around 12 hours and it melted like butter.Looking forward to a return.
Fantastic place with a very dynamic menu consistent with the recent small plate fad in finnieston. Except this place does it well & at a fair price. We have been twice in the past few months and have been impressed both times. Small place so reservations recommended. Menu changes (weekly?which is a great proposition for returning customers.
Super restaurant that sits in good company on Argyle Street. I visited on a busy Tuesday night, the service was quick, friendly and attentive. I took the recommendation from the Guardian and Jay Rayner who is a fan of Corkage in Bath - my local favourite and also a small plates concept restaurant. The food was very good, I loved the big open kitchen, we chose 2 plates each and shared between 3. Some people love this style of eating, others not (there’s always an awkwardness of who has the last of the dish!).On the evening we visited we had sea bass ceviche, Gloucester Old Spot pork chop and Swaledale lamb as the most notable dishes - all were delicious and very reasonably priced. They were out of stock of non-alcoholic beer unfortunately, but great mocktails and the wine list looked good.No coffee machine at present, which post-dinner is a let down - a cafetière is a bit of an after-thought, even a Bialetti stovetop would be a better choice.
Nice service. Nice ambiance . Food a bit like larger tapas . Fish meat vegetable. Just didnt find the food that tasty to be perfectly honest. Quite trendy and a bit exotic but not exactly big flavors Desserts more traditional and quite nice. Different but dont think I would rush back.
I love this place. I like to come here with friends and have a big sociable "occasion" dinner but I also like to slip in alone for a quick three course midweek meal for one when Im supposed to be working (phone on airplane mode, sorry boss). If they got an in house masseuse theyd be like the one stop shop for sensory treats. The olives and almonds are ten on ten, the orange wine costs a million quid a glass but its worth it and so far from what I have experienced every item on the menu is super delicious yet weirdly cheap. The staff are v friendly and attentive, striking that mythical between hands on and hands off.
Stumbled across this place looking for lunch and were drawn in by small menu and understated frontage - tends to suggest the focus is on the food not the footfall! 5 Plates between 2 hungry ppl was PLENTY. Service v friendly and we were asked “wow, are you hungry?” having ordered 5 plates when they could very easily have just let us order more than we needed. Sat at the bar and watched the chef finishing the plates. And most importantly - food was amazing. Simple ingredients beautifully seasoned. Excellent.
Went for a date and had an amazing time. Intimate setting, friendly staff and a cool vibe. The small plates were fun to share - and were stunningly good! We tried the veggie and fish dishes and went away extremely happy. Highly recommend!
Lovely food, good atmosphere. Relaxed service. Generous portions. Would definitely recommend and come back again. Book a bar seat at the back by the chefs if you like to watch your food being prepared.
We had the loveliest of suppers here; loved all of it but particularly the burrata, mint and peas, and the panna cota with a delicious caramel, and a super rich cremosa. Excellent service from all waitresses - knowledgeable, attentive without being in your face. Wish we lived locally. And a great gin cocktail too.
This is the absolute gem of Finnieston. This is place is a foodie heaven. The dish are very much vegetable led and small plate concept making it a great social spot for dinner. The focus is on flavour and often some very simple Dishes but executed to perfection. The food is second to none and the bread sets the tone for just how good the attention to flavour is. This should be top of your list to visit in Glasgow.
Relaxed brasserie restaurant. Every dish was delicious. Earthy vegetable dishes. Unusual cuts of meat beautifully cooked with Mediterranean spices. Sharing dishes. Excellent value for the quality of food and wine. Calm, classy service.
Its a nice place. Good food. Good service. A must:The Artichokes! Loved that dish.I feel the menu is a bit small for the style of eating, if you are going to have dishes you would like more variety, specially if you come in a big group.
Best of the Finnieston strip restaurants that Ive been too. Menu constantly evolving and always good. Creative, fresh and seasonal. Service, location and food all great. My only gripe is that some of the seating is not very comfortable.
Great food, wine, service and ambiance. Only bad thing was sitting upstairs is the seating and the heat. will be back for sure!
Absolutely delicious food and knowledegable staff. The ambience was also very nice, with gorgeous background music and lighting. I would highly reccomend this gem of a restaurant to anyone wanting to try something new in Glasgow. We also really enjoyed the sharing style of the service which meant my partner and I were able to savour 4 delicious dishes each. Would go back if in Glasgow in a heart beat.
Great food - the pistachio cake with plum was incredible - sharing plates - beautiful space with a mezzanine space - lovely service - Id recommend booking for fri/sat
Most of the dishes were very tasty and the service was good but one of the dishes was tough - to their credit they didnt include that on the bill - however they added an extra cocktail to it which we hadnt ordered and didnt notice until after leaving. The seats upstairs are uncomfortable and space is cramped so I dont think I would go back unfortunately, but there is a nice ambiance to the place.
Out-of-the-ordinary small plates. Tasty food and friendly service in a hip setting. Plenty of dishes to choose from. A couple of items on the menu may seem shocking at first. You will be rewarded for being adventurous.
