Landscaped garden with a gazebo & Moorish tiles, inspired by the Alcazar Castle gardens in Spain.
Beautiful setting for pictures.
Lovely garden outside the mingei. Benches and fountains to relax and enjoy. View of the bell tower.
Amazing food and beautiful architecture
Amazing to experience this kind of 100 year old architecture in America
Pretty nice garden with a variety of annual flowers.
Beautiful!
It was beautiful!! Best part of all free parking. This was a perfect place after brunch.
best friend was married there place was wonderful event was incredible congrats to tim and jessica on a truly spectacular day at alcazar garden
A small garden, that it. Nothing else. It will take 15 minutes to cover. You may get some good photos here.
Beautiful place but feel like there is something missing to make it really pop
Beautiful fresh gardens of various plants and colors.
I always like stopping there and seeing whatever beautiful plants they have planted there! I also like to sit and rest and people watch!
Beautiful part of Balboa Park many miss. Lovely flowers, landscaping very close to bell tower. Great photos here. People get married here often. Fountain.
The flowers are beautiful and well taken care of. The garden is clean and it wasnt too crowded.
I thought it was ok. It is a self guided tour of the date and other fruit trees. I guess I wanted to learn more or get into some depth of the different types of dates and what works well here as opposed to other parts of the world. Best way to harvest dates and how the packing process goes. If you are passing by it is cool to stop by; however, I wouldnt go out of my way to visit.
Amazing! Great place to visit and relax and to enjoy the scenic Beauty.
Excellent for photos and romantic memories. I re-proposed to my wife of 34 years here and my son recently was married here. Finding adjacent parking takes patience but disabled parking seems to always be available. Restrooms are about 30 yards away.
Beautiful place to see. The weather was a but rainy but not feeling for long, that didnt stop the beauty of this place. The lights were gorgeous and atmosphere nice. It took a little time but parking was ok. Overall loved the experience
Nice garden. Peaceful but not much in the winter.

So beautiful and what a great little walk the flowers museums and cactuses are awesome. Also several people playing live music and vendors for freshly cooked food.
stunning garden featuring a koi and duck pond
An amazing garden to walk and enjoy Balboa park
Beautiful gardens. Great place to walk if you are recovering from an injury and you need some place flat and safe. Good handicap parking within 15 ft of the garden.
Beautiful Balboa Park, the jewel of San Diego, whats not to love!!
Beautiful place to take photos even in winter!
Needs a little help with the flower beds. But its beautiful 😍
Beautiful place for a cold night walk
Peaceful place to relax, kiss, picnic, listen to water fountains and view plants, HUGE tree, while listening to CA Tower bells ring hourly!
We did family photos hear and the flowers were so vibrant. I think they had done some recent maintenance because it looked like some of the plants were freshly planted. The whole park is so beautiful.
Always a beautiful place to visit. Especially at night. More photos on my Instagram. @manbehindalens
I absolutely love this spot so much! It’s a hidden gem in the vast networks of gardens and plazas within the entirety of Balboa Park. I’m a landscape architect and such a nerd for landscapes so I did some research on this garden. Here’s some history on Alcazar Garden. It was named because its design is patterned after the gardens of Alcazar Castle in Seville, Spain, lies adjacent to the Art Institute and Mingei Museum. It is known for its ornate fountains, exquisite turquoise blue, yellow, and green Moorish tiles and shady pergola. This formal garden, bordered by boxwood hedges, is planted with 7,000 annuals for a vibrant display of color throughout the year. The garden has been reconstructed to replicate the 1935 design by San Diego architect Richard Requa.I also recommend coming here at night as there is phenomenal landscape lighting setting the mood and the vibe for a mystical evening experience.
Great little touristy area for walking around, lots of fountains and gardens if you like taking pictures
Beautiful, it feels like your in spain, being honest though, theres alot of creepy people in the area after dark so make sure your not alone , besides that there is nothing more beautiful than enjoying this replica of a beautiful Andalusian landmark
Save place to visit in quarantine I take good pictures here
One of the quiet and more secluded places in Balboa Park. Perfect for meditation in the morning, lunch on a bench later, a portrait photo session in the soft afternoon light as the sun hides behind the trees or a whispered conversation by the side of a moonlit fountain. Its beautiful to visit different times of the year too, as the flowers change seasonally. Yes, its one of those magical places!
Beautiful garden and architecture.
Such a wonderful place to sit and ponder. They have done a wonderful job of restoring the waterfalls and when the buildings are completed it will be perfect just perfect!
One of the most beautiful gardens at Balboa Park!!
Lovely place for a sunset stroll. The recently replanted garden was hummingbird friendly with lots of flowers and the view of the California Tower is Instagram incredible with its lit sides. Def romantic!
Very beautiful. Ive always loved going here.
I entered here accidentally and was attracted by various flowers here. There are many varieties of flowers from roses, cherry to many unknown names. There is also a small fountain. The whole garden us surrounded by walls and building so I think it’s private garden in the beginning. A nice place to go
Beautiful spring plantings in the Alcazar Garden, and ducklings on the lily pond by the Arboretum.
Its a serene garden, but the plantings werent impressive. However, the enormous tree was a must see.
Very nice garden. It was under construction when we visited, but we still enjoyed it.
The garden is calm and there wasn’t as many people as in other parts of the park. The garden could have been more full in my opinion but it was still really nice to relax in. There are several benches located throughout the gardens so you can enjoy the air and views.
Really 4 1/2 stars. Garden is beautifully arranged, with gorgeous poppies. However, this being mid November, not too many flowers in bloom. Would be magnificent at a more appropriate time of year.
