Great view from the big Tower to Granada
Come and look, outside like desert insinde pretty garden and palace
Alcazaba is another part of Alhambra, also very beautiful. The views were so great and you dont want to leave. You see the whole Granada from the top and also Sierra Nevada mountain. A lot of stairs, but it is worth it and unforgettable.
I got to stand on top of Alcazaba for about 30 secobds because we arrived late
Nice towers with views
very nice , Beautiful location, beautiful palace, great civilization
Beautiful views and fascinating history, as in most places in Alhambra. We enjoyed an evening visit, with less people (no wait to get up to the tower), and no problem getting photos without throngs of tourists - even on the national day. Highly recommend the Alcazaba for its stunning views.
Offers beautiful views of the city, but that’s all…
World beauty, kind of place you must visit at least once in your life
The Alcazaba is a stunning ancient fortress part of the Alhambra complex. Originally it was a military fortress, and is set overlooking the rest of area. It has stunning views of Granada and the other parts of Alhambra. It is a little difficult to walk around, especially on ht days, so bring lots of water and wear comfortable shoes. In the centre courtyard you will find the remains of the soldiers quarters. the fortress has very thick double walls, and several tall towers to give great vantage views.
An alcazaba (Spanish: [alkaˈθaβa], Galician: [alkaˈθaβɐ]), alcáçova (Portuguese: [ɐlˈkasuvɐ]or alcassaba (Catalan: [əlkəˈsaβə]is a Moorish fortification in Spain and Portugal. The word derives from the Arabic word al-qaṣabah (القَصَبَة), a walled fortification in a city. The term alcazaba should not be confused with alcázar (Spanishand alcácer (Portuguese), which have their etymology in the Arabic al-qasr, which in turn derives from the Latin castrum, and denotes a fort or castle.
The Alcazaba is a huge, magnificent fortress and part of the Alhambra complex. Not only is it impressive in itself, it offers great views over Granada.Bring I.D. with you as they ask to photograph it, I suspect in case of COVID track & trace necessity.
Wonderful place, you can see the historical architecture and the full view of Granada city
The military section of the Alhambra compound. You can have a great view of the city from the tower here
Very interesting story behind this fortress and amazing views of the city of Granada from the top.I highly recommend reading about the history of the fortress before visiting it to feel it stronger and imagine the history while walking through it.
It’s amazing historical castle part of Alhambra near to nissrien palace from above you can see all of the city
A bit of a climb, especially on a hot day, but beautiful views from the top. I would recommend to go in the late afternoon to take best pictures in the setting sun.
Mid-September:We got the tickets for 2 persons online the night before, sadly without the Nasrid Palace, but at least the Alcazaba and Generalife. At the Alcazaba you will have a beautiful view of the city.
If you are out of time this is the part you can skip to see. The tower gives you a fantastic over the city of Granada. And that’s about it
The oldest part of Al Hambra, full of history. You have to climb to the tower so you will able to see fantastic view of Albaicin area and Granada.
Tall and historic old fort protecting the palace of La Alhambra
The Alcazaba offers one of the best views in Granada. The Sierra Nevada mountains make a spectacular backdrop to an already spectacular view. An absolute must visit when in Granada.
The history of the Alhambra is linked with the geographical place where it is located: Granada. On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose.Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century, after the establishment of the Nasrid kingdom and the construction of the first palace, by the founder king Mohammed ibn Yusuf ben Nasr, better known as Alhamar.Throughout the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, the fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers, which house two main areas: the military area, or Alcazaba, the barracks of the royal guard, and the medina or court city, the location of the famous Nasrid Palaces and the remains of the houses of noblemen and plebeians who lived there. The Charles V Palace, (which was built after the city was taken by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492is also in the medina.
This is the oldest part of the Alhambra and is the site of the original military fortress. It is not the easiest place to walk around if you’re unsteady on your feet. But it is worth it for the beautiful views of Granada and the rest of the Alhambra. The walls of the fortress are very thick and there are walls within walls making it impregnable. Within the centre courtyard are the remains of the dwellings that the soldiers would have used. There are several tall towers to climb that give different vantage points.
Must be really nice... If you booked your ticket 3 months in advance. Dont plan to come here in Spring 2019 as it is fully-booked till end of June 2019
Must see. If youre visiting La Alhambra, dont forget to take 15-30 min for the fortress. You will enjoy the best views on Granada the complex has to offer.Given that the is no defined time to visit the fortress, in comparison to Nasrid Palace, you may check it out when deemed suitable.
Amazing 360 degree views of the city and mountains amongst the beautiful fort ruins.
The highest point of Alhambra,, enjoy it and prepare to walk so many steps to reach there.
what a cool place to enjoy and taking picture. The place is uphill, so you can see the city around and it is so beautiful. If you have a baby, you cannot bring a stroller here. You have to leave it at the entrance. The place is quite big and nice.
Nice historical place
Even if you abhor tourist masses, you should visit the Alhambra at least once in your life! Simply magnificent and unique. Book tickets online beforehand, unless you want to queue for several hours (if you are lucky and visit in winter time, in summer, you probably dont even get any ticket for the same day)
Fort built by the muslims.
Lovely views of the city at different heights.
Interesting part of the Alhambra, with the lower levels of the houses remaining. It was also highly amusing to watch all of the cats saunter around the courtyard.
Obviously really cool place to take lots of photos and pano shots. Great views of the city from there as well. Really neat to see all of the old barracks/rooms where people lived. Also the kitty cats. I love all the kitties lounging about not caring about anything in the world.
Great views of Granada but you have to book tickets months in advance to get in
The view is stunning from the wall and from the tower! We need ticket to enter the Alcazaba. But it should be free of charge because there not many attractions. We visited first the Alcazaba when we entered Alhambra.
This place is truly amazing. It was perfect for our engagement! The view is out of this world.
A perfect lolevy place to observe all around the fortress.
Great view from the towers, really cool architecture, beautiful nature
Fantastic views from here - open entry once in the Alhambra, and not much of a line
the fortress part of the castle, where the soldiers were staying
Beautiful place with astonishing views of Granada, La Vega & Sierra Nevada (if you are lucky to have a clear sky day).
Best View of the city
Great view of Granada
Besides the great views, the center courtyard is quite interesting as the place where the armies were houses. Dont miss the gorgeous gardens on the exit route. Perfect spot to sit in the shade, among flowers and fountains, to take a rest, photo, or snack break.
Even though there are more interesting buildings in the whole complex of the Alhambra, this one has espectacular views of Granada. Great location to take your pano pictures!!!
It was interesting to climb around the ancient barracks.
