Fascinating glimpse into the life of a true Renaissance man who was a contemporary of DaVinci. Interesting to see what the 16th century house of a celebrated may have looked like.

Not much.. Its a small art museum with a bit of Durer on the walls. Not an experience like Goethes house in Frankfurt. It was interesting to see the printing press, some dye making, and some old furniture. Not worth 6 euros, more like 2, for a quick tour.

A must for the history or art lover in Nürnberg. Anyone who has spent time inan aet museum will recognize Albrecht Dürer. The fact that Nürnberg has managed to preserve the Dürer family house is amazing. The museum itself appears to be more geared to history in the period during his life rather than the art.

Not nearly as interesting as expected. No original art works of the great master. The house itself is ok, but doesn’t transmit the spirit of the era in-spite of audio guide and many explicative texts.

The house was the only building which was not destroyed during the Hitlers reign. Hence, it became a source of information on how normal life looked like, what did the neighborhood looked like and how the houses looked like. The house also has the life history of the painter Duerer along with his paintings and the work he did before becoming a painter.

I have really enjoyed Dürers house. I think that the exhibition is really well organized and it tells a wonderful story. However, it does make me a bit sad that almost all the artwork are copies of Dürers work, whereas his actual work is located mostly in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich. Nevertheless, it was really cool to see his house and walk through his workshop.

I dont recommend this museum at all!!!When we came inside the first thing that dissapointed us was the extremely rude front desk lady. She refused to sell us student tickets eventhough we showed her our student ID. She said we should have tell her sooner, but it was the first thing we said. We didnt want to argue with her, because she was already very unpolite so we paid 12 euros instead of 3 euros, so we hoped it will be worth it.......NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!!! No atmosphere, no original painting, mess on the shelves. Overall very poor exposition. It is better to look at the house from the outside (for freeand go to another museum (with original paintingsTOURIST TRAP!

Albrecht Dürer lived between 21 May 1471 and 6 April 1528 was a German painter, printmaker and theorist of the German Renaissance. Born in Nuremberg, Dürer established his reputation and influence across Europe in his twenties due to his high-quality woodcut prints. He was in contact with the major Italian artists of his time, including Raphael, Giovanni Bellini and Leonardo da Vinci, and from 1512 was patronized by Emperor Maximilian I. It is worth visiting the house that he lived in and admire some of his magnificient works.

Museum is quite limited with the history of the place, very little still is original from Dürers time which leads to a lot of "this may have...its likely that..." around the museum. There are some cool artifacts but for the most part, the bulk of the museum are just informational plaques

Most unfriendly and rude staff ever....Weve been yelled on by the front desk lady (through the speakers of the housebecause our 13 Month old Baby was crawling on the floor (and was laughing....After explanation (and complain, and fight... ), the problem was not that is was dangerous for the copies there, it was that "she was having fun"...Furthermore, the exhibition is, honestly, just OK...Enjoy the city center instead.

This is really an amazing exhibit museum. I didn’t know who Albrecht Durer is before the visit. The museum had great English audio guide that lead you through this amazing artist, who lived in the same time as Leonardo DaVinci, but created artwork that are even mysterious in our time.

Dont expect to see much of Durers work in this museum, as most of it was sold and left the city already during artists life. But it does convey the atmosphere of the time well. Do take the time to walk the streets around the museum, the mix of old and new is simply enchanting.

One of the interesting museums to visit in Nuremburg is the Albrecht Dürers House on Albrecht-Dürer-Straße in the St. Sebald district. This is a good place to learn about Nuremburgs most famous artist and to walk through a well-preserved early 15th-century house and artist workshop.Note: Opening hours are 10am to 5 or 6pm daily (Tues to Sun). There are extended hours to 8pm on Thursdays but the museum is normally closed on Mondays. Entry fee is €6 per adult and comes with audio guide. There is toilet facility and free use lockers available on the ground floor just past the ticketing counter. The property itself is believed to have been built around 1420. It came into Dürers possession in 1509. He lived and worked here until 1528. The property passed on to other owners in later centuries until it was used to create a Dürer museum in 1871. Having escaped WWII bombings, Albrecht Dürers Houses remains the same today as it did when he lived here five hundred years ago. What you will find within the Albrecht Dürers House are a handful of rooms. In the Dürer Room, you will see important copies of Dürers masterpieces which hang in the galleries of many of the worlds most important art museums. Many of these works would have been created here in this house.Youll also be able to view living quarters with period furnishing, painting and printing workshops with equipment, props and items that would have been known to Dürer. The audio guide explains what you will see quite well. It provides historic perspective and context which is helpful.Overall, we enjoyed the hour and fifteen minutes spent at the Albrecht Dürers House. If you are a fan of the artist, there is a monument dedicated to the artist no more than 3-4 minutes on Bergstrasse. Further, an abstract sculpture and interpretation of Dürers Young Hare can be viewed 20-25 metres away in the small square in front of the museum.

A great place to stop and see one of the only houses of 16th century Artisan in all of northern Europe! Prices are very inexpensive and they have an audio guide that comes with the price of admission. Be sure to have your students bring their school ID to get a huge discount (€6 is the normal price for adults and students are admitted for only €1.50!). Give yourself about 45 minutes to an hour. Also, your admission also gets you a free gift (usually a post cardfrom the gift shop across the street. Most people skip that, but they have a great selection of reproductions and lithographs among other items.

It was my first meeting with Durer but I was glad to hear such a comprehensive story about him and the house. I still feel something is missing - maybe more paintings, or its just knowing all the stuff inside come from somewhere else.

It was a big disappointment. We read that there are no original paintings but we thought we would visit original rooms with original or almost original furniture. Nothing of this: one and i say one room with copies and two and i repeat two rooms (kitchen and workshopwith some question marks about their real use at the durers time. Much much better if seen from outside (and free).

Museum was interesting, however, the front desk clerk was EXTREMELY rude when questioned about handicapped access. She answered they had no collapsable chairs when we found they did after entrance. The encounter caused my wife, who has knee pain, to not want to enter the museum at all. She did not feel welcome. Please improve your entrance staff.

They are very upfront about their shortcomings but its a very good experience nonetheless. The top floor is in German only and is not mentioned in the English tour guide. Student tickets are €1.50 which is a bargain considering they also give you a coupon for a post card from the gift shop across the street. The gift shop sells some of the cheapest and best quality knick knacks of all the tourist shops in town.

Its a beautiful house on the top of the hills in Nuremberg. The museum inside is not so big and takes around 30-60 min to visit. I recommend to purchase the day ticket to see the other public museums in Nuremberg for 2.5€ each.
