Albany Whale Tours - Whale watching tour agency in Albany, Australia
They have drinks and biscuits on the travel. Services better than the expectation..
New experience. The weather was cold and the water condition was mild.Sighted the whales on a few occasions. However, its a requirement that the cruise stops at least 100m from the whales. Too far and too small unless one has a binocular.
Beautiful, unique, historic location in the deep South of WA that has a wild life animal sanctuary and native flora display gardens. Must see in WA. Very well maintained environment, toilet facilities are immaculate.
Excellent thanks for a great day 😎
Saw a lot of whales coasting through the waters near Albany.
I enjoyed this tour and was lucky enough to have close encounters with humpbacks, southern wright whales and seals. The catamaran was very comfortable and gentle cruising and the crew were knowledgeable, friendly and provided a nice, light range of nibbles and tea and coffee. The journey out of, and back into the harbour was quite long and so time spent out in the ocean looking for whales was short. If we were not so lucky to have the whales come up to us, it may have just turned into a nice cruise around the area.I noticed other tour operators had much faster boats and were travelling greater distances than us, but they may have suffered in the rough waters.Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
A little over four hours boat time got us a pod of dolphins swimming all round the boat, racing us; then a mother and baby humpback; then a whole pod of humpbacks showing off. Plenty of marine birds, too, skuas and what not. The crew were great - they gave some excellent advice for avoiding seasickness, and brought out delicious hot snacks and hot drinks throughout the trip.If youre inclined to sit or stand at the front of the boat (recommended), wear waterproof or quick drying clothes and shoes.I can also recommend Kwell tablets for motion sickness. I have heard recommendations to take one tablet the night before in addition to the instructed one 30 minutes before.
Great whale cruise saw lots of whales Tony,Aaron and Sonny fantastic crew and so informative would definitely recommend to go with this tour group
Captain Aaron and his 1st mate, Sonny, are both charismatic and witty. They bring insightful knowledge on Albanys wildlife and geography, and with a passion that is infectious, youd wish the tour was longer than 4 hours
I see em when were out working 👍
Not been personally, but Im told its an amazing experience.
A fantastic cruise around Princess Harbour & King George Sound with Captain Mark. What a wonderful wealth of history knowledge of this beautiful place. He was so informative & funny. We met lovely people also on our boat. Great day indeed. Will definitely do this tour again on our next visit down to Albany!
Lovely atmosphere, fantastic tasting & huge amount of food ,good prices ...1 Bar person unsuitable for lunch rush and need training for courtesy, water bottles need cleaning out from built up calcium from tap water ...
absalutely brilliant
Great service, very friendly staff
Really relaxed and fun. Aaron and Sunny did their absolute best to ensure we saw as much as possible.
The staff were very knowledgeable and extremely friendly
Great meals and friendly staff
We booked our trip for last Monday but it was cancelled due to poor weather so we were called in the week to join the tour today with a much brighter weather outlook. We went out today which happened to be the day we are headed home after our very wet school holiday break! So glad we did. We enjoyed the trip thoroughly. Saw lots of whales and the staff were extremely friendly, kind, informative and obviously love what they do. There was quite a large swell out from the sound which was fun for us (!but the lovely staff still diligently served us spring rolls, chicken tenders and doughnuts plus tea coffee and milo on request. They moved the catamaran to wherever the whales were and although we didn’t see any breach, we did see whales come out of the water and some tail action too plus plenty of spouting. Sunny gave us so much info about the area and was ready to answer any questions. Aaron took us to the bald head seal colony where we saw the beautiful seals and Sunny pointed out the albatrosses too. The boat was comfortable and great for a few hours to relax, enjoy the scenery and being out on the ocean and of course the whales. Can’t wait for next time. Thank you guys for a great end to our holiday
We drove all the way from Perth to be told that they cancelled our tour in the last moment and notified us less than a day before, without offering to move the tour to the next day.Unreliable with a bad customer service, not recommended!
Lots of information however could be more interestingly presented.
Very friendly crew. Absolutely enjoyed the trip 😃 Thank you Aaron and sunny for the amazing experience and service.
Fantastic
Enjoyed a great day out onboard. We where lucky enough to see a southern right whale Mother and calf, and even luckier when they chose to come close and investigate the boat. The Captain and crew where great and the boat is brilliant for being close to the water and getting a good look. Will definately be returning for next years season to try and see some humpback whales.
We had a great time - very well looked after with this crew! The whales were amazing to see and we even got to see a sea lion. Would go again!
Exciting trip. Loved whale watching and experience
Great tour with knowledgeable guide
Excellent. However should change the menu. The scones are great but the nibbles past their use by date. Do handout for toilet rules - no need for public details. For safety reasons use take away coffee mugs with lids for hot drinks.
Amazing whale watching tour company. We saw many whales and really enjoyed the boat trip out to see them. The crew are very friendly and the morning tea was lovely. We even saw seals as well as Humpback whales. Make sure you call and book early so you are guaranteed a spot on the trip. Highly recommend this tour.
Top whale watching operator with a comfortable 12 metre catamaran with two decks and luckily there were plenty of whales to view this year.
Best whale watching experience, super friendly crew who catered to all our needs. Worth it!
Absolutely fantastic sightings of a group of 9 southern right whales. Captain Aaron and crewman Sunny have a wonderful affinity with the whales. Aaron stops the boat, cuts the motors, and waits... He sees 2 shapes in the water and calls to the whales, talking and waving to them... Almost immediately..... They turn and come towards us... Very gently they advance and look us in the eye as they glide past.... And stay with us for about an hour..... Even when we tried to leave, they followed us.... AWE INSPIRING interaction!!! I reckon Aaron is the proverbial Whale Whisperer!!!
Absolutely brilliant tour led by Aaron and Sunny. They were informative and helpful in a very friendly manner that avoided the usual learnt spiels. If you are looking for a whale tour then definitely sign up with Albany Whale Tours.
Had a great encounter with a southern right whale on the sail-a-way tour on the 23rd September 2018. Will remember for the rest of my life.Staff friendly and fun.
UNRELIABLE - Booked a tour for September way back in April as we were touring the South West with family from the UK and Queensland. We arrived before time and no-one turned up, rang the tour company and was told that there was no booking made for that day, even though we had tickets in our hands. Took them 11 days to refund our money, shonky run outfit, Good luck with this mob!!!
Been here 8 Sept 2018 with 3 kids very lovely tour extreme nice staff :D
Despite only 20min of whale action in over 8 hours out at sea across two days, it was still a very positive experience.John and the crew were excellent on both days. The boat is spacious and the views are excellent. Its worth mentioning that Johns boat is quite a bit slower than the one of the competitors, so on the days when the whales are scarce, the other group will get to them first once the spotters give the signal. So if I went again, Id probably try the other company. The experience with John was first class though
Felt like a real explorer "chasing" the whales! Seeing whales, safety and comfort were all priorities. Crew were genuinely enthusiastic to provide the best opportunities for seeing whales. The amazing food was an added bonus on an already fantastic trip!! Definately recommend!
We saw so many whales! Plus we got sausage rolls and scones. Awesome time
Love the professionalism given by John and team. Was on board 4 years ago and caught 3 different whales, dolphins and seals. Love the freshly baked scones and sausage rolls!
Eleven of us took this tour with John as our Captain, and had a wonderful time. This is a trip you should not miss if you are in Albany but dont forget your motion medicine if you get very seasick.
Saw a humpback whale and a baby calf, amazing!
Full disclosure I work here. Its a great experience, well worth your time if youre here during the whale season otherwise come out for a Twilight sail with us on a Friday night.
Up close and personal whale watching on King George Sound, Albany. Sailboat jaunts with a gentle motor assist. Nothing nicer than taking morning tea on the net of a catamaran! The whales often come close to eyeball the gently drifting craft.

Operated by a crew of three and headed by elderly man, named John, we had a relaxing journey to our destination at sea. In the boat, John gave a briefing on whale watching, emergency situation and preventing sea-sickness but I found this too lengthy. We didnt know a light breakfast would be provided as we had it just before we boarded the boat. The crew was friendly and John’s two assistants were constantly walking from the cabin to the deck to serve beverage and biscuits. Unfortunately, we were greatly disappointed. No whales were spotted! John steered the boat close to an island to see the many seals basking in the sun. Being a fruitless watch, John’s assistant asked us to come back the next day. This was not possible and he wrote a note on the tickets that we could still use the tickets within the next five years.A reviewer has mentioned that there is another whale-watching boat service in Albany, called “Albany Ocean Adventures”, which is cheaper and provides faster boats.
We had a fun trip and found whales just towards the end. It wasnt really the peek season for whales so they did a good job.
We have really good time with John and his crew. They are all very friendly and so so lovely.Well prepare with everything and we did see whale!!!Love the trip as well as the yumm morning tea.
Normally I really not want to make bad comments at all, but this must be said.Disappointing.Have been on the boat.Just wanted to have a nice time watching whales.Felt on this boat like on a sailing trip, but not like watching whales.Saw them from far away for a couple of min. Thats it.Promise about U can come again, if U don´t see whales. But yeah, see that there is something in the water, means U saw them. And also if U here just for a day U cant. So its not worth the money.Than had a trip sailing around the islands. That was it.There is another boat going whale watching in Albany, called ALBANY OCEAN ADVENTURES, which even is cheaper, where U get faster out and U really can watch whales for hours.I did a trip with them after my experience with this company and I enjoyed the time on board very much, see whales, got many knowledge about the whales, no one felt seasick or threw out. (Sure can happen, but not that almost everyone does!)Also they offer full charter service, like breakfast, ...But if U not quick enough U not get anything or just a piece of.So why pay more, if I get it for less and I see the whales, cause thats the reason U going on a boat trip there. And going out and make almost all people feeling sick on boat is not a very nice experience. So for people wanna see whales for real and long time and staying just one day, just have a look for ALBANY OCEAN ADVENTURES.Cause Albany whale watching is just spending almost 100 Dollar for nothing, special not for what is promised, exept U just wanna do a sailing trip.Besides, also very interesting, that they go there, where the boat of ALBANY OCEAN ADVENTURES is over an hour earlier. So its nice to see, that they find the whales and they follow an hour later.Interesting also, that on the board than U see, that even staying with the other boat they write, that they saw the double amount of whales. But as people normally not coming the next day again, they cant see that.So this is just getting money from the people. So if U read this search for ALBANY OCEAN ADVENTURES and U will have memories forever.
Dont they slaughter whales in albany? Is this what this is? A whale slaughtering tour?
