Chips were cold, curry was cold. The fish bites were soggy. It felt as if the chips were also refried. Only the chicken burger was nice. This used to be my favourite place to eat, but it has not been the same since the last year

This evening we ordered 2 x fresh large cod and 3 large chips from this awful place and despite the so called glowing reviews it is obvious this place has deteriorated significantly since it changed ownership.The miserable excuse for a serving assistant tried to convince us that the 2 sad looking pieces of cod in the heated display had just been fried but we said we would wait the 10 minutes for fresh fish to be fried.What was eventually presented was absolutely atrocious. The fish was wrapped tightly in paper and predictably when we tried to remove the paper to eat the fish the batter came away. It was only when we saw this pathetic excuse for a fish and chip meal that it became apparent that the server had just arranged for the 2 bits of old fish to be refried and given to us. No other customers had entered into the shop and we noticed when leaving the shop that the fish had disappeared from the heated display unit.The chips were just awful and lacked taste - again it was obvious these were not fresh.A complete waste of £23.20p and lesson learnt for us not to visit this place again.We would suggest that you avoid at all costs - there are much better places in Cardiff where you can get proper fish and chips which is fresh, tasty and served up to a high quality.

I went Albany fish bar today for fish n chips I really impressed by their staff especially their manager MR WAQAS… all the staff members good… the bearded guy served me he has perfect customer skills… perfect portion of chips perfect fish… really worth of money best chippy in cardiff… giving 100% voteThank u

Food is always nice, pretty decent for takeaway fish and chips, but they increased their prices by 45% in the last month. £7.35 for a small fish and chips, which was £5 just 2-3 weeks ago. Too bad, it used to be a decent value for money option.

I been going here for the last 30 years and I cant believe how bad its got. This was the place we all went to when we were kids and now its a joke. The food is terrible and overpriced and the next generation staff are just as bad, plz bring back the boss guys coz I know there still there. It makes me sad to see a shop this bad

🤔. Chips dry as a bone , tastes as if warmed up , not fresh . Fish batter tasted like beef burger. Last time I buy from here . Has ownership changed hands ? If not change your oil 🤮

Very good Fish and Chips, under new management but some staff dont seem as friendly & polite as before, maybe a bit more pricey than other chippies nearby, still would recommend this place

Albany fish bar is excellent. Superb fish and chips and a range of other takeaway foods. Prices are reasonable and the hygiene excellent. The staff are friendly, what more could anyone want? This place has won many awards for their fish and chips, deservedly so in my opinion.

The chips in the takeaway is more expensive than some nice restaurants what worse is chips are soggy and the fish was soggy too. Never go back

Just bought fish and chips. My child was eating it when he found a long hair in the chips. I mean eww and no it wasnt my hair as he opened it and started eating it and straight away first piece of chips he touched had hair on it. I made him hold it just to take a picture. Had to throw the whole food out and really couldnt be bothered to go back and get another. So disappointed. 6.90 down the bin

This is the best fish shop Ive ever had the food was lovely the batter was perfect and the chips and there was plenty for your money, well worth it

the burger meal I bought last cost me as a diarrhea and food poisoning,I wont suggest anyone albany fish bar, as they dont have right to play people health, specially in covid era.You need to service the food as clean as food regulations require from anyone

Big disappointment of the day.Due to save my time I had made order for fish and chip by phone an hour earlier. The guy answer me plenty available just come and pick at any time. When I got there to pick the fish and chip, there was only a very small fish left as I wanted two. I have asked to the guy I have ordered earlier, he answer me to wait another 10 minutes, where as I did not have time to wait than I had to take one only instead.The amount chip also not as standard, it was way less then anywhere else. Taste was not good. Fish was fully with bones. Most I was disappointed by the guy who served me was totally rude the way he talked to me, there was no any politeness.I will never order and have fish and chip from this shop anymore.

Awful quality. I live around the corner and ordered after a long day at work, chips where lukewarm at best and the "cheese" wasnt melted as one would expect a cheesy chips to be. DONT ORDER.

Ordered through Uber. Fast service. Food piping hot. Burger was delicious and the minted mushy peas are to die for.2 thumbs up from me. 👍👍

Not sure whats happened but my last 2 orders with them via uber eats has messed up and both times I get conflicting info. Driver assigned, drives to my home, says albany fish bar didnt give him my order, he cancels order, I call albany fish bar who say as it was over 45 mins they cancelled the order and no driver assigned. This was a lie and the same one they told me last time, a driver was assigned, no order given to him and HE cancelled the other while I was on the door with him, I even saw the notification come through when he did it.I used to love this place, been going 10 years but no more. They must have new management but Ive go to wellfield fish bar instead, I tried them and it was delicious.

COMPLETELY DISORGANISED! This is the third time we have ordered via Uber Eats and frankly we will NEVER ORDER from here AGAIN! NO ORDER DELIVERED. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE and NO FOOD.... Yet we were STILL CHARGED for food which not only NEVER left the establishment, but after calling several times - when they eventually picked up the phone - they then LIED to us! No Apology with ZERO Customer Service SKILLS!

Awesome chipshop. Best around in my opinion and its not too expensive.Large chips, 2 fish, 2 jumbo sausages, 2 cans and a pot of curry was around £16. A large chips easily fed 2 adults and 2 children.

BEST SERVICE EVER!!! We had a missing order from our meal, and Uber Eats did absolutely NOTHING about it after an hour of waiting... I rang up and an amazing worker (unfortunately didnt grab their name!Personally delivered us our missing food!! Thank you so much for saving the night. Will be ordering again but will be via Deliveroo!! 😆 Thank you so much too the best fish & chips in Cardiff!

Really disappointed with the quality of my order.We ordered a "large" cod box which had a handful of chips and the cod wasnt that nice. The curry sauce add on was missing from the order.The onion bhaji order was foul and inedible. The chicken curry also had bones in.Wont bother ordering from here again. Complete waste of money.

Im quite saddened to have to write this review because this is a good fish bar. But Ive just opened my cod box to find that there are multiple pieces of what appear to be blue plastic inside my fish. Please see the attached image. I had to keep picking these pieces of plastic out from the flesh whilst eating it. Im not sure if this is some kind of non-biodegradable plastic which the fish ingested but it was quite alarming to see it in my food.

Long-standing fish and chip shop. Their chips are always excellent (probably best in Cardiff), and the fish is good.

I order several times always comes in time. Today I ordered it should have arrived between 21.30 and 22.00, its 22.55 and they didnt even answer the phone calls. very disappointed and hungry.

Disgusted ordered food payed for driver couldnt find me for half an hour or more when eventually did I said take it back Im not having cold food if drivers dont know where there going dont send em and 8 tryed ringing the shop to complain but they wont answer wots that telling you they havnt had descent y to call me well Im going there tomorow get my money back and piece of my mind

Sold me old stale chips. Prices are extortionate for a chippy! Its not the ritz carlton... its a chippy on Albany Road. Use to be good once upon a time!

Really nice chips, highly recommend. Service has been a little slow in my experiences, which is ironic considering they have a Guinness World Record for fastest portioning of 5 sets of chips

Ordered through uber eats and quite disappointed.Ordered 4 cod and 2 large chips. Chips were very soggy and the fish meat was very grey and swimming in grease and very soggy. I mean literally pour the grease out out the bag.Not sure if this is as result of the delivery or as it comes. Shame as reviews got our Hopes up.Unlikely to try again.

bad customer servicei’ve ordered large cod and chips,I’ve seen him pick out a small Cod. I’ve asked him to change it for a large cod that i can see in the display unit. and he made a fuss and told me that there something something wrong with my eyes. what an absolute DGreat customer service👌

Been here a couple of times and never fails to dissapoint. Staff are always helpful and kind and once lost my card and staff offered to help me look for it. Reasonable prices and good portions and would recommend the curry and chips. Best Chip shop in Cardiff

Jumbo sausage pretty tasteless and weird. Curry sauce very watery and only covering half the chips. For £10 I wont be back again.

Great chippy, Id come here if I didnt live right next to it, tried the masala fish (the pit a chilli/masala rub before batteringdefinitely worth a try if youre willing to take a break from tradition 😃😃👌🏾👌🏾

I am so disappointed with their policy. They sell fish and chips deal for £6.90, but they dont give any catchup or mayonnaise as complement. This is so immoral thinking!!! Should change this policy.

I was there at this evening and ordered fish and chips for 6.90 pounds. However they didnt provide a simple catch up with this which is really frustrating and didnt accept such kind of service from them.

Food is ok but fact is their customer service.. They offer fish and chips full meal in 7 pounds but they not offer any Sauce or spoon even any tissue... They need to overcome..

Got the Large Cod Meal, fish was tough, still had a few big bones in (picked out atleast 4and the batter wasnt crisp and downright soggy in some places. Usually ill eat the skin side but honestly it wouldnt be worth it between the taste nor picking out the bones. Chips were soft (you might be into that).

Haven’t been for nearly 10 years, used to be the best chippy in Cardiff (judging from the recent reviews it might have slipped a bit). Can’t speak for the current quality, so I’d completely ignore this review if I was you.General advice; get lashings of salt & vinegar and eat them fresh. Carrying the chips somewhere and letting them sog is for losers.

I drove 5 miles to have their food. Very bad service and rude greedy boss.Asked for some sauce on top of chips.Greedy man said "we dont do that you have to buy them" . Had to buy some.I am sure nobody likes dry chips.All traditional fish and chips shop always offers customers what sauce they want.But unfortunately some greedy owner wants make money buy selling sauce and dont care about customer service.They even dont like you ask for fork or tissues.Disgusting.Never will go again.

Good chips Clarks pie was old and completely dried out. Should have taken photo. Needless to say we shant go back for more. With all that is currently happening these people are risking food poisoning.SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT IN BIN!

I live much nearer a different chippy but drive the extra distance because this is definitely the best one in Cardiff. Fast and friendly service and the best Curry sauce bar none!!

This used to be the BEST!!! Now it is overpriced the portions small and the fish was average at best. Staff does not listen,my wifes order was wrong and instead of the customer is always right let argue instead...

They provide a lot of chips but those are not restaurant style crispy chips. It will fill you up but lacks the crispyness. Fish seems cod and is very good but again the coating leaves much to be desired.

A fantastic fish and chip shop. One of the best in Cardiff. Lots of options for even the vegetarians amongst us. Not had a bad takeaway meal from here, ever. Nice staff even though it is mentally busy most of the time. Well worth a visit if you are in the area

The best Fish and Chips ever! Been going to them for over 20years and whilst I have tried others I still keep coming back here. Food is good and plenty. Its a treat.

Just ordered a large fish box with curry sauce..... disappointing to say the least. Overly salted wet and soggy fish batter which spoilt the chips and made them go soggy. Minted peas? Mint and fish does not mix well plus they felt like they came out of a can. Overall not good and doesn’t in my opinion deserve its award winning prize

The best fish and chips my mouth has ever had the pleasure to taste!Great customer service and massive portions.This place was superb, The cod was coated in a thin crispy batter and not greasy at all. Chips were good as well. Service was good. Overall a very pleasant meal.This is the same place that had their 50th anniversary a couple of years back and sold chips for 5p.A place like this with great service and great food will not have any issues running for another 50 years.

The best fish in Cardiff... fact!!! My mum said it was the best... She had just had surgery at the UHW and wanted a middle piece and not a tail? Service with a smile and a fabulous piece of fish!!! Thanks guys, one happy mummy!!!

Visiting my mother in law at the Heath Hospital - after her thank goodness successful surgery she asked for a piece of fish and insisted I made sure it was a middle piece. A nurse recommended Albany Fish Bar. I must say the service was excellent and the piece of fish was eating swiftly with the comment That was the best piece of fish I have had Well done Albany Fish Bar I was under pressure to deliver!! The Mother In Law Cricky!! I asked for her wish and this was done and you gave me 5 stars attention :-Thanks Phil

Box of fish/chips/mushy peas is £5.99 (Feb 2018is seriously good value. But fish has random bones and mushy peas were minted. Overall pretty average - nothing to write home about. Good selection of food though and I thought the spicy curry sauce was very good.

Avoid this shop!!!!! I ordered it from Deliveroo and it arrived fast however, when I start eating the cod, they are fully boned. I never expect a fish and chips would include BONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!also, the taste isn’t as good as other reviews mentioned, there is nothing special on both fish and chips. You can find a better one in Cardiff and without BONES.
