Alamogordo / White Sands KOA Journey - Campsite in Alamogordo, United States
Alamogordo / White Sands KOA Journey in Alamogordo
Description
Spaces are on small size. Best be honest on lenght including tow vehicle. Or you might have to unhitch?
MoreSandy, Kelly, and their team are FABULOUS! My family and I stayed at the Alamogordo KOA for an extended time (over 8 weeks), and it was the best experience for our family! The campground is well-kept, has a great playground for littles, and the Rec room is full of fun activities for all ages. Sandy provided copious recommendations for family-friendly outings and field trip ideas that coincided with lessons for my homeschooled son. Of all of our KOA experiences, this has by far been the best! This is a gem that I would recommend to anyone looking for a warm welcome and a fun time.
MoreI was a little afraid going into the place because the area wasnt the best, but once inside it was safe. It needs a little bit of updating like in the bathrooms, but they were clean at least. Everyone at the front desk was extremely friendly and welcoming. The pool looked very clean and it had everything we needed for the night.
MoreWe stayed in a tent site and checked in after hours. Our stuff was prepped for us with a map on exactly where to go. The tent sites are big and easily accommodated our family and large tent. The bathrooms were close by and clean, we had water and electric at the site which was great as well.Just keep in mind that most KOAs I have been to are very secluded, this is right next to a trailer park and main road. Not a problem at all, but just dont go expecting middle of nowhere. Great staff and very well kept grounds. Would absolutely come back here again
MoreGreat park and the owners are so amazing. Checked in on us when we had a breakdown on the way there. My only complaint is the internet is really iffy. But with our hotspots that didn’t matter to us. We will be back and already inquired about staying a month there.
MoreFriendly staff , extremely clean bathrooms , clean camping areas , pool very refreshing . We enjoyed our stay
MoreGreat RV park. Very clean. Off the road, so minimal road noise. Nice site that we had with a deck that included a regular BBQ, table and 4 chairs, fire pit and bench. Oleander bushes separating the spaces. My only negative was the train horns during the night.
MoreGreat place to stay a few days while exploring the mountains. Right in town so it is easy to get to groceries and amenities. The owners are lovely people who you can tell are working on improving the place. They have a nice selection of games in the rec room. The firewood bundle was really excellent, included several pieces of kindling. They have a little bench in the exactly the right place that you can watch the sunset from.
MoreCampground was very clean and quiet, hosts were very friendly and accommodating. we arrived at our cabin after a 4 hour motorcycle ride on a hot day just to find out that they were thoughtful enough to already have the cabins ac unit on and the cabin already cooled off for us, that really put a smile on my face!! rates were also beyond being very reasonable. ill definitely be back!!
MoreVery clean, friendly and inviting. Nice to take the camper but I noticed the tent camping areas are nice with trees for shade and cabins looked great also for a stay.
MoreThis place is amazing. The facility does a fantastic job of keeping the place clean. I arrived late and I did notify them on my reservation I would, and there was an envelope with my name and a map to my spot. Made it easy for me and the bathroom and showers are clean. Play area for the kids and swimming pool. I am definitely coming back. Highly recommend KOA in Alamogordo.
MoreLove this Koa and it might be a favorite of mine. Sandy and Mark were kind, helpful and were a delight to chat with. Nice big flat spaces and the dog park was perfect. We used the laundry facility’s and they were clean and cheap! Also they have sand sleds you can borrow for free to take to the sand dunes! Perfect location. We can’t wait to come back someday
MoreGreat place, clean restrooms and level sites with private patios. Coffee and Cocoa in the morning. Id stay anytime I travel near Alamogordo
MoreOnly got to stay one night as we were just passing through, but the RV slot was awesome. Easy pull through with my 34 ft TT, only slight leveling adjustments, and close hookups. It had a nice small patio set with 4 chairs instead of a bulky picnic table. The office/gift shop was clean and the employees were awesome. Wish I could have spent more time there.
MoreI loved this place, great for everyone. Everything is clean, people are friendly. The owners are accommodating. Nicely located in town. The nice dessert landscaping as you come in is pretty.
MoreThe best KOA ever. We stayed for one night and it was amazing. The staff was helpful and friendly. The cabin was very clean and the bathrooms were the cleanest bathrooms in a KOA ever.
MoreExcellent location close to gas, stores, etc. Very easy drive to White Sands took about 15 minutes. Beautiful and clean pool. We had a great spot near the main building and bathrooms. Wifi did not work even being close to the building but that doesnt change my rating.
MoreReasonably priced .Very helpful, friendly staff. Clean bathrooms/showers. Cheap washer/dryers. Right by White Sands National Park, Pistachioland, 3 rivers petroglyphs. Havent hit the pool...yet😉 Hope Im back by here again. Will return.
MoreWe had a great one night stay here! The check in staff was very friendly and helped us with a propane refill as well as a guide to our spot. It wasn’t busy, so it was nice and quiet. My kids took advantage of the pool and and playground. There are also a couple of small cabins for rent.
MoreEveryone was so very nice and helpful. They gave us many suggestions on what to do in the area. We loved the petroglyphs and the walk to the top of the mountain. The campsite was a bit tight but we managed to get our slide out. Nice place. Would stay again.
MoreSuch a peace full place, very safe, well kept clean and such a wonderful place to let the kids swim and play. We will definitely be back.
MoreNice, clean sites with shade trees. Easy late check in process. Very friendly staff.
MoreNice and very convenient. Even the csbins we a convenient stay. Would be helpful if restrooms were at both ends of the park but it was do-able. Also, the cabin stay would have been much better if they were located closer to the bathroom. And the air in one of our cabins was about to go out and did not cool very well.
MoreA clean, tidy KOA, a great base camp for exploring the area. The folks working there are so friendly and pleasant. The pool was just being resurfaced and filled with water when we were there, I’m sure it will be a great place for families this summer. I loved the free coffee every morning and the store there is filled with cute stuff. They are also very knowledgeable about the area. Would stay there again if we’re ever back in the area.
MoreBest koa out of 6 that we stayed at during our trip.Helpful & friendly staff . Clean restrooms. Especially liked the concrete sidewalk at our site, kept us from tracking dirt into the camper.
MoreVery clean and loved the dog park. Sandy and ground staff were extremely kind and very knowledgeable about the area. Definitely staying here again!
MoreOur first and Fave KOA! Clear instructions on where to park for registration. We had a friendly escort all the way to our site, he helped guide us in to the very spacious site. Meanwhile, another KOA member was shining up and cleaning the gas grill for us. We were so excited to see the swing and the nice table and even a fire pit. This KOA feels like an oasis from the city. We are enjoying the views of the mountains outside of our window of our RV. We love this KOA.
MoreVery professional and helpful staff. Dont forget to let them know if youre visiting the White Sands national park. They let us borrow saucers so we didnt need to buy them.
MoreFantastic little KOA! Our site was level and a good size with two trees for shade. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful and the facilities were clean and functioning. We would definitely stay here again!
MoreProbably the nicest KOA weve stayed in. Large sites and very well kept. Easy access to White Sands, just 17 miles away. The staff was very nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again
MoreThis is a great location for visiting White Sands and Lincoln National Forest. The bathrooms and showers are clean. There is coffee and hot water for tea in the mornings. They have SLEDS to BORROW for White Sands (saves you $18 a sled and $3 for wax at the National park). There is plenty of water around and a special drinking water refill location. Dogs are welcome. The pool is currently closed, I don’t know when it opens. There are trees in the tent sites which makes a huge difference in the heat. Everyone is super nice. Our main negative is the noise at night. It’s a noisy little campground. And the tent camping sites are all gravel so make sure you have plenty of padding to sleep on. Also the electric outlet at the campsite is a little small so I wasn’t able to charge my camera battery. Maybe bring an extension cord.
MoreI spend winters in Alamogordo and to some extent I have a bias. I am currently on my way home and have the opportunity to compare Alamogordo with other KOAs. KOAs do come in all shapes and sizes, and Ive been to at least 50 of them. Alamogordo continues to rank right up near the top - top 3 definitely. There is a continous effect to bring more for the campers at an affordable price. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful, doing their best to make campers stay an enjoyable experience. I look forward to my return to Alamogordo in the fall.
MoreThis is a fabulous KOA. Everyone here has a smile and goes out of their way to be helpful. They are always picking up any stray trash, raking the sites to make sure they are level, and everything is in good repair and attractive. I could not believe how large the sites are! We had a nice table and a gas grill! Wish it wasnt 2000 miles from home or I would be back frequently. We travel a lot and have stayed at numerous KOAs throught the country and this one is in the top 5%.
MoreThis is a great place to stay. Helpful, friendly staff. Clean restrooms. Clean overall place. Close to everything. Fun evening activities.
MoreWe stayed two nights. The site was a little tight, but we managed. The park was clean and quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. We noticed at night that none of the site lamps worked, so it was pretty dark. We left our awning light on. It was concerning because of a potential liability for the park. We had our door open and our dog saw a person waking around. She barked. I went to see what she was barking at and a person said he was "just patrolling the park." I didnt say anything, just closed the door and locked it." Legit? I like to think so. But I do hope they get their lighting fixed. The bathrooms and showers were large and clean. It has a nice little dog run, and old school playground; when playgrounds were fun (and not plastic). We would visit again.
MoreExcellent place to rest and camp out for the weekend. We got a cabin, which was a great value. The front desk was very kind and courteous and the restrooms were clean and comfortable. Had a ton of fun and dogs are welcomed!
MoreThis is park has a nice pool, pretty landscaping, and level sites, but my stay was not the best due to the management; however, the guy who escorted me to my site was great. My site (#1did not have a proper sewer connection. The sewer opening was ~5” below grade, was not threaded, and too small for use of a sewer donut. My elbow would not even fit into the hole due to being below the level of the ground. I was concerned about spillage when dumping, and notified the manager. Her solution was to place a rock on tops of the hose elbow, or to have her put her foot on top of the hose when dumping. She was very disinterested in the potential for raw sewage spilling onto the ground, and said no one had ever complained before. Also, the site next to me had a crew washing and waxing their rig while I was there. They were working from and dragging their hoses inside/across my patio area; couldn’t even use my patio table/chairs the entire morning. Again, the manager was not interested in my concern with this invasion of my space.I WILL NOT be staying here again, or recommending to anyone!!!
MoreGreat place to stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Bathrooms might have been the best Ive seen at any KOA. Short trip to Cloudcroft and the White Sands National Park.Would definitely stay here again.
MoreAll of our interactions with their staff were incredible. They went above and beyond in customer service. Ellen was so kind and let us know early when our space was available. The park is well-maintained and the spaces are large and roomy making you feel like you have some elbow roomWill return !
MoreOur stay at Alamogordo KOA was short and sweet. Very friendly staff. The sites are very unique in the sense that they each have a cement block wall dividing them. It made for some nice privacy and looked very nice. Sites are not paved but level. They do have a concrete slab next to them so you don’t have to be on the gravel the whole time. Bathrooms were nice. In the mens room the shows were nice. One of the shower heads has very low pressure but that’s an easy fix for them. Free coffee in the morning which is always a nice touch. Great stay.
MoreWe loved it here! Only stayed one night but wish we could’ve stayed longer. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They let us borrow sleds for our trip to white sands, the kids had a blast. Easy pull through sites with plenty of parking for our vehicles. The stars at night were incredible! We will be back.
MoreEasy to get to, pretty quiet, nice wide flat sites, and, they have dividing walls and individual paved picnic spots which was a nice feature. The location is very convenient right near the main drag, with ample choices for food and provisions, including pistachios! Youll see when you get there Im sure, pistachios are a big thing in Alamogordo! Pun intended.Theres even a small zoo and railroad museum nearby.Very nice staff members! We would stay here again!
MoreThe staff is amazing! So friendly so accommodating. We had an amazing stay here for sure. Dog park is tiny so if ya gotta big guy that runs like we do there is literally the city dog park only 3 minutes away! So wasnt a big deal with things so close for us.
MoreGreat campground for going to White Sands National Park. Staff are all super friendly and professional. They loan out sleds for White Sands which is a really nice service. We stayed in a patio site which was really nice. Interior roads are gravel as are site pads. Sites are level and utilities worked well. Bathrooms/showers were clean but need some attention as 1 was out of service and 1 shower should have been closed for a shower head that didnt work and temperature control of water did not work.
MoreThis place is awesome and Sandy is an absolute breath of fresh air. After a very long and stressful trip from AZ, she was more than accommodating and helped to ease our nerves. Its also very clean and has the best wake up view around. If youre coming to the area to stay, this is your place!
MoreBeautiful campground. Awesome customer service. This was our first time driving an RV and staying at a campground. We loved it so much that we stayed in a KOA in San Antonio Texas to rest for one night on our way back to Florida. We were equally satisfied. Thank you for making our first RV road trip a memorable one. The Ortiz Family
MoreWe loved our stay at a cabin here! The bed was comfortable, and our room stayed cool. It was a great location near restaurants, and it was nice to see the mountains right when stepping outside. The grounds are nicely manicured and you can borrow sleds for free ! It was such a great time.
MoreMy family stayed here with our 40’ bus; it was exquisite and we enjoyed it very much. The facilities were wonderful and all amenities are offered. We will be returning to stay with our mini trailer in the future! But words are nothing here are some of the images I took :-))Also, we know it may be “cheaper” for wood and ‘mellows, however the service and facilities were well worth it to buy it in house. Don’t be afraid to spend a little money and support your local businesses!
MoreI had a great time at this KOA.One of the best KOAs I have ever been.Kelly, the gentleman at the office was super friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we would have a great stay.He even offered to lend us some sleds/discs so my kids could use at White Sands National Park.Everything is very clean. The location offers great mountains views and is very close to the city and businesses.I would come back here without hesitation.
MoreLove this KOA! The owners were efficient and wonderful! I loved our tent site. It had just rained but the rain had all drained away and we didn’t get soaked. The table is substantial, the game room was fun, the showers were spotless, and the free coffee in the morning is a perfect cherry on top of our “sundae” experience! I will definitely return!
