The chicken shawarma was excellent. Spiced and cooked perfectly. So what if they are not going to win an award for atmosphere, the food is phenomenal. The guys behind the counter and in the kitchen are pretty cool too. I definitely recommend this place!

Best chicken shawarma I’ve ever had!!! Fair prices for the size of the meal and the food came out quickly. Will come back again for sure!! There are a 7 stools at the counter but it’s mostly a take-out place.

The food is great and the price is also good. However they are horrible with timming. They told me 20 minutes, I came 40 minutes later to give them extra time. Food wasnt even ready andI had to wait another 35 minutes. This isnt the first time they do this.Very frustrating.

First time having a beef shawarma and it was great! The meal with a side of fries is filling and a good deal for $10 if you are trying to eat on a budget.

Shawarma was good but terrible customer service. I ordered 40 mins before I arrived at the restaurant and then waited for 20 mins after I arrived. When the guy finally gave my order to me, he acted like he was giving some free food. Will never go back to this place.

Shawrma beef and chicken both are really good. Garlic sauce is crazy good.

Best shawarma. Meat is sliced thin, perfectly cooked, and amazing balance with tomato, onion and pickles. Bread is thin, toasted.Tried both shawarmas chicken and beef and they are amazing. I’ve been searching for a good shawarma, tried different places, this is definitely the best.

Not worth the long wait, I ordered a few sandwiches with middle eastern hot sauce, and was told 20 minutes, it took 45 minutes, when I was handed the sandwiches I asked to confirm that they came with middle eastern hot sauce the guy handed me small baggies of regular hot sauce. I was very disappointed and felt very cheated and would never go back. They could have told me they dont have the hot sauce that I asked for earlier and would have went somewhere else. Now that I was out of time I had to take what they sold me.

Alshami has always been a great place to eat Shawerma from! My family and I ordered food from it many, many times and it really tastes the same as it used to in the Middle East. Their garlic sauce is also delicious, definitely recommend this restaurant!

You wanna taste the real shawarma al shami is your place. I wish I can give more than 5 star

Updating my review,Three years ago: Very friendly staff, and their sandwiches are delicious. I can say that’s one of the best shawarma sandwiches in the US.May 2022: I went few days ago. I bought five sandwiches. However, when I went home and opened the bag, I found out that they gave me only four sandwiches while they charged me for five. I went back to them to buy sandwiches like I always do. I told the gentleman they they gave me four sandwiches and they charged me for five. He apologies and gave me the sandwich they charged me for.Keep up the great service. I’m updating my review I wrote three years ago. This place still my favorite place. Thank you guys!

Very good, probably the best beef shawarma in Paterson. The only complaint I have would be that you must order your food before 4pm as they run out of Beef shawarma quickly. Havent tried the chicken yet.

Their shawarma are so delicious but I just found out recently and heard from someone that the meat is NOT halal! He told us that he did asked the owner/employee directly during Ramadan and they confirmed that it is not halal. Please confirm and clear up the confusion from the Al Shami management please!

Stopped by for a quick snack and got 3 chicken wraps (20$). Flavor was on point and I love how they are not cheap with the Toum like other places. Great flavor !

If you are from middle east after eating here, the first sentence you will say “This is exactly how they make in xxxx place in my country)This is a eat&go place. Don’t expect tables or any other service you would get from a restaurant. Your expectation can be middle eastern fast food style shawarma place. Very simple, small, great shawarma and fast service.I would strongly recommend chicken shawarma even though I usually like meat shawarma more. I tried both of them but chicken shawarma is the winner.Great staff! Friendly and attentive.

Dont be fooled by their simple and to the point menu. It just means they are damn good at what they specialize in. Best shawarma youll have in the area. If you come early, get their beef shawarma. Its even better than the already insanely good chicken.

I gave this place four stars before, but I picked up shawarma sandwiches (chicken and beeflast week to find that the quality has gone down!Its way too greasy and kind of bitter, and Im not going to talk about customer service. Let me sum it up like this:"You get a low-end middle eastern quality for a US price tag"

Totally get the hype as their chicken 🐓 shawarma hits different and reminded me of something similar to what I had tried in Kuwait 🇰🇼.Lamb 🐑 shawarma looked amazing, unfortunately we couldn’t taste the mix combination of chicken & lamb as it was being prepared while we dropped by at their opening time, but it’s on our bucket list to try.Good place to eat or takeout 🥡👌🏼despite the fact that they can certainly use an interior makeover.Highly recommended to gyro 🥙 lovers and foodies for a simple clean food to enjoy 😊

Tried it for the first time recently, got the chicken shawarma, it honestly blew me away. Probably the best Ive had. Only negative was I ordered ahead for pick up (just 2 sandwichesand I came after 20 min as they instructed but when I came in I had to wait almost another 10 min. Seem like good people though, God bless. Will definitely go back

I ordered like 6 chicken shawarma for the first time here since I had been listening how good has it been since loooong!The shawrma was decent having garlic sauce pickles and chicken maybe with lil taste of onion!They run out and close very quick for dinner pickups and yes they have these cute chefs with one main tall chef who make sure they give everyone the best of best!Since my order took more than 45 mins when I was told to come within 30 mins they gave me free drink so I grabbed the yoghurt drink!

They only had chicken the day I went. The taste of the chicken was excellent. The garlic sauce they make was one of the best on main st. The fries was seasoned perfectly and were nice and crunchy. Definitely a 5 star chicken shawrma sandwich, I highly recommend this place. Wait times can be a drag but definitely worth the wait

If you ever find yourself near patterson, I would definitely reccomend stopping here for a quick bite. The shawarma was bursting with flavor and packed plenty of meat. The fries were also seasoned and crispy. Unfortunately they didnt have the chicken shawarma, but the beef option was great. Word of warning, street parking only, and even that is very limited.

It was good. Wasnt expecting to have the wrap when I ordered a platter. Would have liked a little more meat.

The best chicken shawarma in the east coast. I used to drive 2 / 3 hours to come here 🙃. At night, most of the time the restaurant is sold out around 8 pm so the best thing is call them on advance and make an order to go. This restaurant was too small and the bathroom was dirty! The parking in the Area is very difficult but it worth it. Highly recommended.

Great Shawarma. Really excellent sandwich and excellent Shawarma plate (Arabic). Priced very well.A friend told me about this place, I was driving to NYC, and had to make a stop and taste it.They have chicken shawarma everyday and meet shawarma in weekends only. Both are really great.It gets busy on weekends, so consider calling and ordering over the phone.

Amazing taste. But the garlic mayo sauce is WAY TOO strong. You keep burping garlic for a whole day. Value for money is great. Only accept cash.

This probably the best Shawarma I ever had in the US and believe me I tried so many in more than 12 states.Al Shami has two huge Shawarma sticks rotating around the flame and the juicy meat is melting down. The way the chef was shaving the thine slices remind me with Damascus neighborhood style. Though I continue ti be was very careful in my expectations to avoid disappointment. After the first bite, with the taste crispy chicken with garlic sauce wrapped with fresh bread which soaked with the juice melted from the Shawarma! It was sooooo yummy and worth every mile I drove from Boston to New Jersey. Simply I fell in LOVE with this shawarma and I can not wait until next time to visit again. You might ask why I gave 4 stars? The owner need to do renovations to the place ASAP as such great experience shouldnt be impacted by unfortunate settings. Its MUST to try and worth to drive to it.

This is by far the best shawerma I had in the US so far.I was visiting NY with friends and we heard so much good things about Shami Shawerma. The first day we went, they ran out of shawerma. Determined to enjoy this amazing shawerma that we heard so much about. We came the 2nd day and we made sure to come early. It turns out this shawerma is so good that a lot of customers shows up to enjoy it.It was byound delicious! The same original shawerma taste that we used to back home.For the time we were there, we actually thought that we are back in Damascus.It was so good that we forgot to take pictures at the first round. We took some at the second round of sandwiches!I wish I lived closer but it is 250 miles away but planning to go back again when I visit NY.

Lets get one thing cleared up. This is argubly the best shawerma on the east coast. Its literally an authentic shawerma experience! Their menus consists of only shawerma! Youre there to eat shawerma and you will love every bite of it! Literally almost teared up having the lamb shawerma as it did remind me of home. Side notes is that its a small business so language might be a barrier and also costumer service is not as competitive as other restaurants that put emphasis on service. But remember youre here to have the best shawerma and you will get the best shawerma.

Delicious shawarma. Cant just have only 1, we ended up eating a 3rd 1. Feeling full. The place is small and not much crowded, we wish they had something more too, other than chicken shawarma and french fries. Will go again.

Get 5 stars for food alone! Not the best setting inside. A bit rough and chaotic but added to the overall vibe. Bring cash. No cards. But beyond worth the trip anytime I’m in the vicinity.
