The restaurant looked nice, but the staff were honestly terrible. Very unwelcoming, very rude and absolutely zero sense of hospitality. Acted like they were doing us a favour by letting us sit. Please do not waste your money going here, there are so many better restaurants in Marrakesh! The waitress kept demanding we order more food, and when she wasnt satisfied with the quantity of our order, she asked us to leave. Save yourself the bad experience!

A lot of hype about this restaurant. While food is generally good (especially the pigeon pie), I cant say it deserve that much of a premium in terms of pricing over other restaurants.

Al Fassia Gueliz is hard to surpass from all aspects be it email responsiveness and service level and consistency or food taste and quality and staying authentic to Moroccan flavours.

In principle this place is great. The food was actually very tasty. The restaurant is quite snug and they do try and squeeze you into the smallest possible space. The maitre d was a bit rude and Ive seen this in quite a few reviews now. We are vegetarian and there was a soup option one starter a tagine and a couscous dish that were available so Im not sure what the other reviews mentioning lots of options are really referring to. They pressured us to spend more money as we were not especially hungry which was not very nice. The food was however generally good.

No idea how this is considered a restaurant worth visiting. Apart from the smiles from the welcoming doorman, the rest of the service was worse than perfunctory: disinterested waitresses and utterly charmless; completely unlike the 3 other restaurants we have visited so far in Marrakech. The location is grotty, decor jaded, lighting dark, and food tasteless. In fact, don’t go.

We came without reservations, but quickly was seated, and served drinks and snacks. The place was jam packed. Lovely service all night long. Good local wines. Great authentic food and an all over awesome experience! 👌

We did not have a booking but they still seated us, was very grateful. I had ordered couscous which I genuinely didn’t like and one off the workers there could see that I didn’t enjoy it and she offered to change my dish, how sweet off her I didn’t want to ask and be picky but she was genuinely so amazing, service is amazing and the atmosphere

Pros:-Interesting background history-Unique dishes that you dont typically find elsewhereCons:-Rude waitress (came to us once to ask if we ready, we asked for a couple of more minutes, came back after 20 minutes (I checked on two other tables she was serving, but she was far more responsive to those than to ours); didnt say a word as we left tips, she just stared at us blankly as she turned to serve the other tables)-Salty food (Ill admit, the food was good and unique, however, it was also salty)-Cramped seating (they just have the guests all sit on one side of a table, leaving one side open to what I assume is service, but that leads to awkward eating positions, especially when youre sitting close to someone or if the table doesnt extend to where youre sitting to on a bench)-Overpriced (I get that its supposed to be a "luxury" location, but when the food isnt even necessarily better than some other places for basically 8 times the price (a tajine there can go up to 150 dirham), its just hard to justify the price)Final Verdict:Maybe it could have just been bad luck that day. Who knows. But as of right now, Al Fassia is just an overpriced location with the sole selling point being its history. I really wanted to like this place, but its difficult to when I consider it subpar to other cheaper local places.

This is probably the most unfriendly restaurant in Marrakesh. Food is average and service is far below average. The waitress did not even say “Thank you or Merci” after paying the bill. Food is expensive and a bottle of water is 35 Dh

I don’t know why this restaurant was given such a high ranking. The two weeks we spent in Morocco, the service and friendly waiters everywhere are far better this one. Food is ok but not any particular. I enjoy a small restaurant and talked to every friendly waiters instead of this arrogant attitude service. It is a “Tourist Trap”!

I was very excited to visit for dinner. The restaurant was highly recommended, however it didn’t live up to expectations. The interior was nice and cosy, service somewhat good. Wasn’t impressed by the food (lamb tagine served with plain tasteless couscous). In and out in less than an hour!

Awfully disappointing bland and over rated. 6 of us had this as our highlight stop but OMG it was dreadful. A rude unfriendly forgetful waitress just added to the spoilt evening. I had the Chicken, onion and raisin tagine, it was so so sweat completely ruining the dish. Could not taste the onion let alone the chicken. The others had the lamb and all agreed had much better in many other places, which was such a shock when this place is supposed to be at the top of its game! The only good thing is we’ll never have to go back! I would have complained but didn’t want to embarrass the friend that had put himself out to organise the evening. There are many better places than this!

This place was alright. I toured the top 5 upper class restaurants that serve authentic morrocan food. This was at the bottom of the list for me. Not over impressed with any of the dishes we ordered.Definitely take a deeper look and dont just come here because of the reviews. Theres much more marrakech has to offer

Second time coming here - delicious food, lovely staff, great ambiance. The portions are generous too.Recommend the pigeon pastilla which theyre known for. The lamb tagine (prune/almondhad great depth in flavour. Make sure to ask which tagines are sweet versus savoury, as the sweet ones may not be to everyones taste. We also asked for some vegetables on the side of the mixed grill/rice plate we ordered, and they did this at no extra charge. Would actually love for them to add this as a "side" as the vegetables were delicious!

Didnt live up to the hype. Visited for an authentic morrocan experience. The building was beautiful, the staff are friendly. Lots on the menu to choose from, the staff werent very helpful at helping navigate the menu. I had the kebab and saffron rice, it was a little salty and I didnt enjoy it very much. The tagines were standard tagines - we tried a lamb and vegetable one. We were served bread and olives at the start, but no butter or olive oil was provided for the bread, so we had to ask for some.

We had high expectations as this was one of the most reputable dining experiences available in town. The food was average (pigeon pastilles, couscous royal, oranges with cinnamon), the service poor and lacking attention and personality. In and out in less than an hour… express disappointment it was!

We had dinner today in Al Fassia and it was beyond amazing. Food is delicious, meat is very tender and well seasoned. Staff is very helpful and welcoming, they recommend the veal tajin with couscous and also chicken with pumpkin. Both were extremely good. The vegetarian appetizer was tasty but portions were very small and that was the only downside.Highly recommend this place if you are in Marrakesh.

Nice restaurant, food was very good, usual Moroccan dishes, but done very well, and at reasonable prices. We went on Saturday night and it was very busy. I’d booked online and didn’t realise when I didn’t get a confirmation email that my reservation had not been accepted, which was silly of me! But they still found a table for us and we had a lovely meal.Tip - they served the red chilled, so if you don’t like that make sure to tell your waitress.

Wonderful ambiance.Traditional Moroccan/Classical decor. Greeted with mixed olives, bread and cold water and given. As a new vegetarian, I went with the veg set menu, starters are houmous, smoked aubergine, salad. For mains I chose the vegetable coucous, for desert the fruit salad, followed by Morocco tea.Blown away by quality. I come Morocco regularly and travel around the country. Best restaurant Ive come by so far.

Lovely decor & overall ambiance so this is a perfect date night spot. Also nice for special gatherings or simply meeting up with friends. I enjoyed the variety salad & pastries. The tapas style servings were pretty filling. Royal mojito was a bit too sweet for my taste but my dining partner raved about it. Service prompt & pleasant. Nice to see an all female staff. All forms of payment accepted (including AMEX).

Absolutely amazing food, atmosphere and service. Try the roasted lamb here and the chicken, onion and tomato tagine. If you go when they open at 12.30pm its nice and quiet and you can relax and eat at a leisurely pace. The waitresses here are wonderful local ladies. The facilities are clean and well presented. Highly recommend the walk here!

Very upscale place with great ambiance and excellent service. It’s meant for the upper class folk, so it serves that purpose but as with most places, the food isn’t spectacular, but is definitely good. The prices again reflect the ambiance and service. About MAD 150 per dish average. We had to order an entree each as a minimum. We walked in at 7pm and were only given an hour at the table because the restaurant was completely reserved. And they weren’t lying; it was fully booked. We were served bread and olives to start. Their hot sauce is also quite spicy, but on the sour side.We had a bunch of Tajines;- mix brochettes (skewerswith saffron rice- beef meatballs in tomato sauce with egg- chicken cubes in curry- beef steak in tomato sauce and caramel used onions (it was really sweet)Almond pastry for dessert, with vanilla ice cream. The staff truly wanted you to have a good experience, so if you had any issues or wants, they would work to fix it.

If you are in Marrakech you must visit the Al Fassia restaurant. Al Fassia means the woman from Fez and only women are working in this restaurant. We started our meal with a selection of fresh vegetables salad, an impressive 15 small dishes extremely tasty and the chicken pastilla. We ordered Fish Tagine as main and the millefeuille with ice cream as dessert. It was my partners birthday and the Al Fassia team made a big effort. Thank you very much for the great experience!!

This place was recommended to us by our hotel. The food was absolutely exceptional! We ordered the chicken pastilla, which was very tasty. The lamb shoulder is highly recommended, it was pricey by western standard but there was only 2 of us (if it were shared by 3 or 4 would have been fine). The lamb was tender and juicy and finished with caramelized onion and almonds. We were full after that so shared some ice cream. The mango & coriander + vanilla and cinnamon were a must try. You need to make a reservation though - we had a 19:30 booking and the place got full very quickly. But well worth it, the food was brilliant!! Very attentive and helpful service staff too, is a rarity these days Im finding!

Great place for an authentic Moroccan meal. Highly recommended by locals. This place is very well established and has been operating for a long time.Usually requires a reservation which is advisable to avoid disappointment. Service was very good. Menu pricing is towards the high side but a great dining experience. We tried a mix of everything to get a feel of the different tastes. Mini salad selections, lamb, chicken tagines, cous cous and more.My favourite remains the meatball dish which was rich and tasty. Would recommend a visit if you are in marrakech.

Upon having the same bland Moroccan food throughout my trip, I have decided to give it the last try in Al Fassia Gueliz in Marrakech. Oh boy, was I not disappointed.Despite others complaints about the service, they are friendly and prompt on our request.Lamb shoulder was absolutely a must-try dishes here. Tender, juicy with a well balanced of fat and meat of lamb that melt in your mouth, coated with a lovely flavored sauce packed full of flavor and spices aroma. It literally dance in your mouth with the melody of spices. Irresistible!Chicken kebab with tomato sauce and eggs was delicious. Packed full of flavor and the chicken was surprisingly tender and juicy! Incomparable with normal restaurant anywhere else in Morocco.Tanjia Marrakech taste a bit like the normal chicken with preserved lemon but in a completely different level! Lamb was perfectly cooked, tenderly juicy, accompanied by the complex spiced flavor with preserved lemon. Great eaten with couscous or bread.Seafood pastilla is another must try dish too. Crispy shells with seafood filling that is bustling with sea umami flavor and squeezed with a little lemon juice to uplift the freshness of the dish. Wonderful! All in all, it was really a memorable Moroccan dining experience that I will remember for my trip in Morocco as I did not have this quality of food cooked anywhere else around Morocco (limited to medium- high to low range Moroccan restaurant only). Given the price range with the portion of the food, I think it is reasonably cost. One thing that was a little bit upset was that they did not seemed to remember my reservation when they greeted me. This can be something to improve on.Must try if you want to have a memorable traditional Moroccan food experience.

Overall a great meal.Very value for money given the atmosphere and quality of food, the staff was extremely helpful too.1. Selection of salads. Got to try a bit of everything but I found some dishes too sweet.2. Pigeon pastilla. The best I have had, thin and crispy layers, sweetness from the almonds and the meat matched perfectly.3. Lamb tagine. Served with different vegetables on top and couscous on the side. Was an average dish here.4.Chicken couscous with caramelized pumpkin. The pumpkins were preserved in sugar before which I found too sweet, but the couscous at the bottom was the best part, absorbed all the flavour from the chicken as well as other vegetables.

This was actually my favorite meal in Marrakech. The Moroccan salad was crazy in how many different plates they brought all and most of it was amazing. From a flavor and quality standpoint, the food was phenomenal. The portions were also very large. The only thing I would say was weak was the service attentiveness because we waited a good half hour to get the check as the staff were so busy. But overall, I had quite an amazing meal.

They sell them self as a hight end restaurant with price to match. But the staff needs more training on when to bring and remove place settings and attentiveness. They dont refill your drinks for you ones its on your table or clean the table between courses. The flavors of the dishes were goods but more thought needs to go into their prep of the dishes like cut up the chicken just a bit and not serve it to me like I was at a street stall. We ordered 5 dishes and two of them had chicken in it that was so dry we could not eat it. I have had better Moroccan food for way less. If you are a traveler its okay food if you are a foodie look else where!
