Al's Finger Licking Good Soul Food in Tampa

Restaurant was highly recommended by my cousin Clarence Warren.His recommendation did not disappoint.The food was delicious.I ordered the Baked Turkey Wings lunch that included ,white rice with turkey gravy,collard greens,Mac & cheese,and corn bread.The staff members were very cordial and the dining area was inviting, even though I ordered to go for lack of time for a planned Breast Cancer Event in the city.I look forward to a return visit to this restaurant during and upcoming church event in Tampa October 28-30 2022.

Friend picked up our food and said service was great!! Baked chicken, green beans, potato salad, and corn bread… all was so yummy 😋 1st timer….will return and definitely recommend‼️

An excellent place for soul food in Ybor. Nice selection of entrees served with two sides and corn bread. All sides are made fresh daily from scratch. The place is decorated elegantly with great artwork. Very friendly service.

I ordered the qtr rib plate with a side of baked beans and potato salad and it was amazing . It truly was. Ribs had a wonderful texture on the outside packed with flavor and tenderness on the inside & the baked beans were extremely rich in flavor .. had a great cinnamon apple flavor but not to sweet .. just right enough . The potato salad was really good as well . Overall experience was great if you like authentic southern BBQ with great hospitality this is the spot .

Stopped by yesterday for some lunch. What I received was a warm welcome, and delicious, cooked from scratch comfort food. Sampled the banana pudding and had to buy some to take home! I ordered the 1/4 fried chicken, collard greens, Mac n cheese, and bbq pork sliders. Everything tasted amazing. Always a good time and good food. Highly recommend to try it.

I ordered a veggies plate thinking if the veggies are good you can cook.. lies it was terrible tasting like the greens and greens were straight from the tin can no salt or flavor mac and cheese was old..Im a cook and I definitely want be back

Stopped by on my lunch break. Great little restaurant with a lot of soul. I ordered the pot roast on rice with candied yams and fried okra.It tastes just like a home cooked meal... Because it is!Thanks Jackie..... Went back for a cheeseburger. Exactly what I was craving!Thanks DD.

If you want southern comfort food this is the place. I hadnt had smothered pork chops since my childhood and they did not disappoint.

The food and service was amazing!! Please try the lemonade...I had to get a refill! I ate greens, blackeyed peas, and chicken wings. Hubby had smothered pork chops in gravy,, rice, and machine and cheese...and he ate it all!! We came from Texas and was not disappointed!

This is a great soul food spot. The food is really good, definitely try if you are in Tampa!

They were out of everything and all the food was unseasoned, it had no flavor. I had to add seasoning salt, pepper ect. I had the turkey wings gravy white rice pork chop chicken wings so i could try some of everything. Mac n cheese no salt greens ok but black eye peas had no flavor at all. But the service was great and the attendant was really nice.

Clean modern design. Good customer service. Excellent ambiance. The fried chicken and black-eyed peas is amazing. Highly recommended to visit for a great soulful home cooked meal. The chicken was very moist and was seasoned to perfection.

First Time~Last Time!!! I’m all for supporting Black Businesses and my Son was adamant about me/ his girlfriend trying this place for Mother’s Day, it’s going to be busy was my biggest worry not the case only one other couple was seated when we walked in. The Decor and Paintings on the wall are Beautiful! The Waiter was attentive and professional. The Food NO! I apologize but Nothing about it was good! Nothing about it~ (Oxtails Yellow rice macaroni and cheese)

VERY DISAPPOINTING FIRST IMPRESSION! Im new in town & just moved into my new place this weekend, so my aunt and I were looking for a good place to have soul food today that was open.It was a rainy Sunday What brought us here across town were great Google reviews. We walked in & waited for serveral minutes without barelyac acknowledged by the staff. It was clear they were busy, but we didnt feel welcome. (The vibe was off.,)Finally someone came out serving the food for a table & pointed to a female staff member & said she would help us. She had an "attitude" and mumbled:where am I gonna seat them,, as if we were a bother to even be there. We walked out. Im all for supporting Black businesses.., but cmon. I refused to be treated that way, from my own people. We didnt even bother to order anything & stay there. Didnt even know if food was good or not. Very disappointed The owner needs to know this because its bad business & he couldve had a regular customer and potential business. What a shame & horrible representation.

This is some of the best fried chicken I have ever had! Folks that working there are supper nice and its a nice and comfortable place to kick back and eat some damn fine food.

This place is bad and sad I’ve tried ordering all weekend at my place of work off DoorDash first try order canceled for no reason 2nd try they went from preparing my order to temporarily closed n 3rd try prepared my order then refunded me saying the food was no longer available WOOOOWWWW.. calling did not help I was place on hold for 4 mins to hear employees laughing n talking when I call back I get a voicemail that’s not even set up lol yea I wonder if u be there the rest of the year

So glad when we googled soul food near me this restaurant came up. The food was delicious!! The prices are excellent. When Im in the area again we will certainly stop by. The painting on the walls and the decore were simply amazing

It Was awful We get there to the restaurant! And look at the menus and the server said nope we don’t have any specials today and we only have for main menu is pork chops!!! And on the sides we only have Green beans and Rice beans wow just awful and then We have a Chicken And rice beans!! Awful experience and we will never return I think they need to Close down until you have what’s on your menus!

This place isnt it. I would strongly advise going to Als barbecue thats about 6 blocks further. Be prepared to wait, it took me about an hour to get my food during that hour I asked how long before my food would be out I was told dont come up and ask itll be out when its ready smh. The food first the collard greens not seasoned, Mac and cheese couldve been better and the pork chop with no gravy like I paid for. Before you order ask what they dont have because you will find out once they bout to do your order. If I could give no stars I would. Hope this helps

The food was good , the service from the gentleman was better. He seemed like a nice guy and was very polite. Im a love creamy and cheesy mac and cheese so I thought it was ok but personally I like more of a creamy cheese. But overall the food was good.

What I wanted the didnt have then when I asked for the next thing they didint have..so when I ask what they had it was only 2 option out of the whole entire menu..how you a restaurant but dont have the menu items available!?? Nothing finger licking good about Als

Family atmosphere beautifully decorated staff is very professional they come through they make sure your meal is served 2 Perfection they check on you they just are absolutely fabulous

AMAZING FLAVOR! We enjoyed the fried chicken, pork chops and gravy, collard greens, rice, okra, corn bread and sweet tea. Everything was seasoned perfectly and served hot. Tasteful decor, very clean - pleasant and welcoming service by staff. We travel across the country and try many different soul food places, and while we find places that have good food, ( a couple of the items we try BUT we put this place as number one. Everything we had was superb! A definite DONT MISS!!

Liver and onions like mama cooked it, mac and cheese, collards delicious. Portions are well worth the money.

Good place, but service is extremely SLOW! Had to cancel my food and goto Als BBQ spot. Food was excellent there and his daughter left the 1st restaurant and came to the BBQ spot and told her father what happened and he gave me 1/2 off my ribs. Cant beat that, shot out to Al, really good man as he works in his own restaurants. This site gets 2 stars but BBQ spot gets 5 stars and overall between both restaurants 5 because Als gonna fix things at the 1st soulfood restaurant. Oh his staff at the BBQ spot hilarious.

The fried green tomatoes, the fried basa fish, the Mac and cheese, and the collard greens were really good. The people are friendly too.

Food was cooked too fast, not slow cooked soul food. Tough pork chop, yams had syrup on top and not thoughout. Mac and cheese tasted like stove top?? Please consider hiring an older more seasoned cook.

Nice atmosphere. Great music. Friendly staff. Chefs missing? Chicken looked good but turned out to be OVER fried. Crispy on the outside but DRY and not fresh on the inside. Either the oil is too high, needed freshening or the chicken (which needed to be a more quality product-old fleshcould have come out sooner. (This was the first fried meal for me in 3-4months. I belched oil even after having the last light meal of my day.I could not eat my last thigh because it was so ugly inside. I wish I had taken pictures so it would be evident that I am not just trying to bash the business.The best thing I ate was the Blackeye Peas, Rice & Gravy. If not for the gravy (which may have come out of a bottle or can), the Blackeye Peas would have been very watery (I Loooove Rice, Gravy & Blackeye Peas). With a $14.00 price point, it felt like my money went towards paying the lease rather than simply delivering a satisfying meal. Which by the way, Al can do both but more care has to be shown to offering the client abit more "Love on the Plate".Id like to go back, but I dont know. . .Hopefully this new business will accept an honest critique from a brand new customer who is also an entrepreneur & genuinely seeks to support Businesses By Us (BBUs).

Great new addition to the Ybor family, chicken was TENDER and juicy. Their Arnold Palmer is amazing, not too sugary or too tea heavy. I HIGHLY recommend this place.
