The room was dirty
Help us ship back the missed item, extremely good service
Worst experience I ever had in a hostel. Reception was absent, our room was left unlocked before we came, pipes were leaking, beds were unmade and sleep on them was terrible. Someone tried breaking into our room in the middle of the night, perhaps because there was nobody manning the reception. Stay away from this nightmare place.
We stayed in the small cabin which was fully equipped, clean and very warm. Check-in and check-out was quick and smooth.
It is a place where details are being taken care of. It is from health and safety to functionalities of the hostel. The management cares. Very impressive. The senior gentleman who is the boss also helps with excellent and practical advice with genuine patience. He also helps in the unfortunate event of the rented car with a flat battery twice. It is a sign of the seasoned hostel and experienced people. Best in the world so far that we have seen in our travelling.
Basic and friendly hostel. In a good location right next to Bonus and Dominos (for your cheat night).Akureyri is a great town so worth spending a some time here. We stayed two nights and used Akureyri for our rest day on the ring road. The hostel has good facilities, but doesn’t have a washing machine. You can do a wash for 900isk at “Akureyri Backpackers” hostel in town - also a great place to grab a drink.
Great for a hostel! Nice, helpful staff! Shared bathroom wasnt a problem. Would gladly return!
We booked this place because in the lonely planet guide they said its owner it’s so helpful with recommendations and its 15 min walking from city center. Well it’s actually 30min walking (in the outskirts of the townand there were absolutely no one to help us in the hostel. You check yourself in, you check yourself out. 0€ spent in staff and no benefits for the travelers.
Awesome place. Absolutely well equipped. Its a joy to be here, specially after being in campings.
Great staff and excellent value for money ! You can either do self check-in or go to the reception where there is someone most of the time. If no one is at the reception there is a dedicated phone at the front door and someone gives you information 24/24 for checking-in and you can also reach the staff for any information. The staff is genuinely happy to help with check-in, directions, what to do in the city... You dont feel like youre bothering them when asking questions contrary to other hostels. Staff can do laundry, you just have to ask at the reception and they will bring it back to your room clean and dry (cost 1500 ISK, cheaper than most hostels). The rooms are good value for money, its clean and bed is comfortable. The shower in the private bathroom is not small. The hostel is near main city attractions (10-15 min by footbut located in a quiet neighborhood with a private parking which is nice.
Nice hostel, good facilities, great staff
Clean and comfortable. Only problem was that they didn’t allow us to keep our bikes inside at night. Big kitchens and comfortable common areas. Within walking distance of several restaurants and stores.
Its is really nice place clean and tidyNice and frendly staff
We got a great room at the front of the house. Good kitchen and really good modern bathrooms. Host was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.Very easy walk to the town centre, restaurants and sights. Ample parking, decent beds. Highly recommend.
Extreme friendly and helpful staff! We booked the wrong date, but the staff moved us quickly to a free room without extra charges. We had a very peacefull night after camping in the highlands.
Very nice and clean, good vibe and very nice people. Prine is also fair. Not that close to the city center but not that far.
Had a great cabin for the 5 if us, could sleep 6. Very comfortable and nice people.
Comfortable and clean - guests were friendly as well as the staff. Loved the roomy showers and the outdoor space. If you need groceries, theres a Bonus across the street, as well as a shop with longer hours down the road. They offer breakfast through one of the local bakeries for a set fee.
Great hostel! I was here for one night the air mat I was camping with broke and I needed a break from sleeping on the ground. I was lucky there was a vacancy as I did not have a reservation. Still, the staff (family-owned business I believewas very helpful trying to direct me to places that could have the tools necessary for me to fix my mat. They also provided with directions and information regarding places I wanted to visit. The room was great. I was alone, but it had all I needed (bed, desk, hangers, etc.). The kitchen and dining room had everything I needed and the bathrooms and showers were nice and clean. There is also an inner courtyard with a garden. Whats more, you are just across the street from the Bonus.
Spent 2 nights here in a two bed room with my wife. Absolutely very nice staff! Gave great directions for local exploration.Check-in procedure is mailed in case you arrive when door is closed.Spacious dining room, great kitchen, toilets and showers are perfect and spacious, also very clean. Would definitely book here again when Im in Akureyri and thanks to this one, Ill keep HI hostels in my shortlist during my stay in Iceland!
Really nice and super clean. Room are big, clean with seperate wc and bathrooms. Also clean. Dinning area is super big, also the kitchen. Big outdoor space where you can grill a steak. Great location,20 min walk from the centre. An big parking space. Love it!
Very well managed and friendly environment. The reception staff took time to explain attractions, and pass on information about the onward journey. The rooms were comfortable, and the facilities were as tidy and well organised as you would hope them to be.
One of the best if not the best hostel we stayed in iceland. Modern, warm and clean.
HIGHLY OVERPRICED.Dead flies in rooms on windows.Small, tight showers.Beds in room like in some prison, creaky when you move. (But not also in this hostel - in Iceland, even paying much you will find cheapest beds like from recycling). No dishwasher. No possibility of waiting 2 or 3 hours in hostel for bus communication; you must go out maximum at 11:30 (11:00 is final checkoutfrom hostel, that is what told me one of Icelandian receptionist.NEVER AGAIN.
The owners are fantastic the place is spotless clean. Maybe a little low on the number of bathrooms but they are actually picky with who they let in. Not the party hostel, location is a 5 minute walk from everywhere and the breakfast they recommend is absolutely delicious.
We did rent a cottage : it is spacious and very clean.Nice staff : they are very helpfulOne negative point : there were road works on the 1 and that caused some additional noise.
BONUS supermarket is almost across the street from the back parking - 3-5 minute walk. Plenty of parking. The girl at the reception is very nice and helpful - very welcoming. gave us info regarding the city - where to eat - best places to get some booze (bars/pubsand the best ice cream place in town LOL. The amenities in the hostel is great - fully equipped kitchen. bathrooms and showers were great and clean. Towels were not provided and I believe it costs $5. there is a sink, soap, and mirror in our room it is a 3 bedroom private - nice size spacious and I was shocked theres a TV - but I dont know it has really bad reception or its just normal that English channels suddenly went out - but if youre into Icelandic shows theres plenty of channels. theres a lot of free guides and brochures by the front desk. Oh and LAUNDRY $10 per bag and I believe is a steal! LOL as long as you can fit all those dirty clothes in that bag/sack that they provide. WIFI is free and fast.
Very nice accommodations. Large kitchen, dining room, sitting room. Nice clean rooms, and bathrooms. Family owned and run for decades, and the pride shows. Great family!
No staff upon arrival and could not get in. We had to wait until another guest opened the door. An envelope with our name was waiting for us, including keys and map but no entry door code to get back in if we wanted to go out... Besides that, the place is spacious and kept clean.
Cozy, comfortable hostel to stay in. They also have cabins available. You can always consider opting for this place while exploring north of Iceland 🇮🇸
This hostel is not professional at all. The price was not the same as the one on the website booking. An extra charge of 10€/person/night was apply because we werent HI (hostel internationalmembers. This information was not written on the website. Moreover, we had to give them our debit card number and the number at the back to pay. That was really strange and we couldnt have a receipt.I really do not recommend this hostel.
I loved the stay at this hostel. Its well organized and has everything you can need.
Great place to stay with clean rooms and facilities. Theres a supermarket and three petrol kiosk within the neighbourhood. The rooms are hotel-like just short of your personal toilet. Though you get a sink in the room. The staff are really friendly too!A good place to stay if you are up north!
Clean, friendly. The place is kept by an elf (so they say when you arrive late...close to downtown. Be careful in budgeting. There is an extra for sheets
Accidentally made a mis-booking and they were very accommodating and friendly to change our dates and help us out without charge! An absolute pleasure to deal with!
I cannot say enough good things about this hostel. The rooms are more hotel-like than a traditional hostel, more comfortable and intimate. The reception staff were very helpful in pointing out the best places to eat, etc. and accommodations were very clean and simple.
A very decent hostel in Akureyri. Includes nice rooms, restrooms and bathrooms. Has a fully functional and equipped kitchen for people to cook in case interested. Also has a dominos nearby for quick bites.
Great quality/price ratio. Affordable and very well equipped with bathrooms, showers and a great kitchen. The rooms are quite nice. Right in the center of the city, it has a Bonus supermarket close-by.
We booked a bungalow for 6 and everything was really nice!! Maybe the best place I have been in Iceland! Also lot of extra services such as discounts for other activities, hot tub and others. Recomended for everyone!
We booked a private room with bathroom and both were great for the cost. The shared kitchen and lobby were in good condition and there was plenty of space despite the hostel being fully booked. It is a 10 minute walk to the city center, which you should keep in mind, but only really matters if you dont have personal transport. We would definitely stay again.
Friendly staff, clean facilities and great location. We dropped in quite spontaneously since the weather was not made for camping in a tent and they still had availabilities at a fair price. The host was giving us some recommendation for dinner and was very helpful. Can recommend to stay here.
Decent beds. 4 stars because they cant provide breakfast. Otherwise its a good hostel.
Pictures are outside from the turn on and some figures in the sitting room.Kitchen is clean and well maintained. Cute notes on everything. Comfortable.
This was just a great place to stay at. The staff was very helpful and nice. The rooms was big enough. The toilet could be a little bigger. Big pentry and you got plenty of space in the dining room. Tv in all room, and free parkingspace for your car.Daniel from Sweden
Iam fairly certain you wont find a better deal anywhere else. The room was dirt cheap and the facilities were clean. You are getting way more than you are paying for
Frankly I would avoid this youth hostel not because its bad but in order to keep being off city.
Very well run hostel that is clean and quiet. Bed is not the most comfortable and there is a gap between the end of the bed and the wall just big enough for your pillow to slip into!Overall, a great place to stay outside of the town centre and within walking distance of the University.
Very nice and cosy hostel with bright and spacious rooms, big and well equipped kitchen. Very well organised and very clean. Check in couldve been a little warmer...
the common areas at this hostel are confortable. there are no showers on the rooms but they are great anyway. the rooms are clean and cozzy. the staff is great. very good hostel in Akureyri.
Great location along the water. Waking distance to everything in town, and a week equipped kitchen. Clean. Safe. Friendly.
