We love the Akron Zoo. Disappointed today after we purchased our passes electronically in advance then had to wait in the regular admission line just to get in. It was a beautiful day, crowded with lots of little kids as expected. Im going to say half the animals werent out. I know this varies according to weather (and avian flu the zoo is having to deal with), but walking from empty viewing area to empty viewing area is sad for little kids.

A wonderful Gem for Akron. The zoo is a perfect size to visit for the day (say 4-5 hours going slowand you wont be too tired afterward. They have wonderful adult only events all year long that are a blast to attend! As so many animals are nocturnal, these evening events let you see different active animals then during the day.One minor compliant is that the aquarium section is not always up to date with the fish that are in the tank versus the signs on the side.Still a wonderful zoo and a perfect way to spend a day.

The zoo is beautiful. It is small enough that younger kids will be able to walk the whole zoo. It feels like you can get closer to the animals. My kids LOVED the otter slide and the otter seemed to have just as much fun swimming around the slide. Most of the birds werent out because of the avian flu but we did see a couple of them.

Loved it. Went here for memorial day with my husband. I have bad feet so I rented a scooter from the gift shop. We were there 2.5hrs and it never died. Got to hand feed the goats and the botanical garden is beautiful! Its respectfully smaller than a lot of zoos weve been to but still amazing. It was raining when we went but this zoo has a lot of sheltered exhibits so we managed to stay out the rain

We just enjoyed Brew at Zoo for the second year in a row. What a fun event! Its a unique experience to see the animals after hours, an experience all animal lovers should appreciate. There were a great variety of breweries and some wineries there, we had plenty of time to stop at each one.

Im not sure this zoo is prepared to provide the proper care for these animals in the summer heat. The enclosures were small and the animals were thin and miserable. I understand theyre wild creatures but in the wild theyd have plenty of open space and shade to escape the heat. Otherwise the landscaping was lovely. That may be the only part of the zoo that didnt make me feel sad.

We had a wonderful time at the Akron Zoo! From the moment we walked in the door the staff were so nice and helpful with our membership gift certificate we had. The were really kind and engaging with my 8yo son. It was a hot day so some of the exhibits the animals were hunkered in the shade but by the afternoon things had cooled off so we were able to see almost all the animals being active. The zoo is so walkable that going back to an exhibit is very easy. Definitely looking forward to going back!

We love visiting our Akron Zoo!! Its always fun and great exercise. Kids hardly notice the physical activity of exploring the zoo (if you have children who complain about walkinglol. It is all around great fun for both adults and kids.

We made the best of it but there was not many animals there to see . A lot of the cages were empty and when there was an animal it was sleeping. I just remember years ago there was a lot more going on at the Akron Zoo.

I went for the first time in a few years and I am extremely amazed by the improvements theyve made the the oldest parts of the zoo! It was a hot day, so some of the animals were off exhibit, but even then, we were still able to see plenty of animals!

We always love the Akron zoo. Well not very big its very nicely done. The grizzly bears were quite active and a sight to see as was the lions and the tortoises. We were able to get through the whole thing in just over an hour. Makes for a night something to do any afternoon.

If possible, go on a week day right at opening. Most animals were out and very active! We had so much fun. We got through the zoo in just under 2 hours, but we didnt stop for the carousel or train ride or feeding goats or any extras (but we didnt hurry). We brought in water and easy snacks, and we have a membership because it pays for itself after 2 uses. Even with a corporate event happening, there werent crazy crowds or wait lines, its very easy to space out and get through things. Dont skip over the Gibbons because the baby is so cute and FULL of energy! We will for sure be back so many times, and Im glad the birds are out again!

We loved this zoo! It’s seriously one of my favorite zoos I’ve ever been to. The animal enclosures were large and had lots of enrichment. All of the animals looked very well taken care of and none were showing signs of distress like pacing back-and-forth. The animals genuinely looked content, not to mention all of the activities for kids to do. From a two dollar carousel ride to a slide that went through their sea otter enclosure. We spent 4 hours here and honestly could have stayed all day. Also it all felt very reasonably priced… Even the gift store. We will definitely be back.

My boys and I love this zoo. We go pretty regularly. My boys love to ride the carousel and go down the otter slide when we visit. This slide takes you under the water of the otter exhibit and the otters can swim over and around you. Definitely their favorite.

Great zoo. Not the biggest in terms of size, but if you have little ones (under 12 years oldthere is a Ton of stuff for them to do. Many playgrounds and like activity areas. The observation areas of all the exhibits have several viewing spots so everyone does get cramped in 1 area. They had a ton of staff around to explain all the different exhibits and how the animals interact. We make a point to come down at least once a year & would highly recommend everyone to come check them out.

The zoo is beautiful however I did not see any animals as I expected. A chipmunk 🐿️ ran in front of me and the penguins looked sad. The garden is beautiful and it appears the children can always have fun anywhere.

We got to see a baby white faced (goldengibbon!! It was just a beautiful day at the zoo with the family. Most of the animals were sleeping during midday but were usually close to the observation areas. Weather was perfect (remember to pack sunscreen), not too many crowds, and we got to see all the animals we hoped to. Akron zoo is just the right size to visit all the exhibits while lingering at your favorites, all in one day! Cant wait to take the kids back to see the new areas once they are completed.

This was my first time at the Akron Zoo. I truly didnt know what to expect. Most food carts or concessions were closed except the main ondoor facility. As far as animals, maybe half of the exhibits were occupied or housing an animal. It was a relaxed trip overall. They do offer a Military discount which was nice.

Small zoo you can get through in a day. Makes it nice because it is a short adventure. Has a small selection of stuff that is newer and nice but in all not alot of exhibits. This time when we went over half of them was closed and was very disappointing.

We arrived with family and left exhausted! Had a great time taking in most of their animal collection. However, it was minus the penguins, flamingoes, and other wildlife that are affected by the bird flu. Most animals were displayed within viewing distance except the lions. Three hints. First, the modest train ride takes all of two-three minutes in a small loop and back. Dont expect it to last any longer. Second, the wind machine is three dollars for a few minutes but its lots of fun. Third, most of their drinks around the park are $2.00 for a typical sized can of Coke and water. Too much if you ask me. The Merry-go-round does go for about five minutes. Gift shop items are expensive. You can get a stuffed animal somewhere else cheaper. Facilities are clean. Maps are clear.

Great compact city zoo. Many varieties of animals including penguins, red pandas, red wolves, jaguar, tigers, lions and grizzly bears. They didnt have the larger animals such as giraffes, gorillas or elephants but that was ok. Very clean, reasonable gift shop and staff was friendly and helpful. Well be back had a great time. One tip buy tickets and parking passes ahead of time to save time in the lines

Love the Akron Zoo enough that I buy a membership. The staff is wonderful, the animals are well cared for and its clean and nearby. They are a part of several endangered species programs which is important to me. The latest baby is a Gibbon which is adorable.

Family adventure while you exercise those winter blues away. Little secret is to visit the zoo on cold days to see the snow leopard and other cold weather animals in full action. You can always warm up in the cafeteria with some hot chocolate.

We love Akron Zoo. Weve been to zoos in at least 6 states and this continues to be our favorite. We love that everything is relatively close together and you can see everything without being exhausted at the end. They are so creative with their programming, summer camps, virtual offerings, etc that we never get bored. They also do an excellent job for kids for all of the holidays. Most recently, my family enjoyed Penguin Pallooza where for $3 they got to feed the penguins. Youll never guess so much is hidden in the middle of Akron, OH. Highly recommend visiting and becoming members.

Such a fun place to spend a few hours! It’s not a huge zoo like Columbus, but perfect for a shorter trip, or for smaller kids. You can easily see all the exhibits in about 3 hours. There’s a variety of animals, with the lemurs, gibbons, otters, and flamingos being some of my favorites. There’s a small aquarium in the building with the food court that was really cool. Everything is more affordable than at the big zoos (from the admission to snacks to the carousel ride).

This is a great little zoo! It appears to be very well-maintained and there are some really great species of animals here. The red pandas are so beautiful. There are exhibits of plants as well as animals. Our children love it and now our grandchildren will as well. Kids love the boo at the zoo.

Great place for my 3 year old. Animals look healthy and well cared for. Likely the closest youll get to most of these animals. They do a lot of events, especially for members. If you have a family, I recommend you get a family pass. You get your money worth in like 2 trips.

We love the Akron zoo! Not too many animals out but the weather was great and my toddler loves running around and the merry go round. The new Wild Asia exhibit seems like it will be nice. We were there Tuesday and only one animal was out in all of the exhibits, maybe next time we’ll see more;)

The zoo is easy to get to, as it’s right within Akron city. It’s a cute zoo, with diverse displays. It’s not the largest zoo, so is manageable within a few hours time, and has a lot of educational moments for kiddos. The animals seem calm, relaxed, and we’ll cared for. I overheard a zoo keeper state they’ve had several babies recently, which is a sign of a good zoo. We saw one, an adorable gazelle! The Red Panda, Grizzlies, Lions, and Komodo dragon were particular favorites. I haven’t been as close to a lion another zoos and I could appreciate their size! A lot of the cafes and other stops along the zoo trail were closed, which was too bad, and I wouldn’t plan on getting a bite here. But, lots of places are nearby.

Very beautiful zoo. It was hit so most of the animals were sleeping but they have very close viewing windows and the animals were sleeping in full view. The bears were so funny sitting in their pool of water. Again right next to a full view window. There is a water spray zone for humans to cool off. Loved this zoo.

I loved this Zoo, its not as big as the Zoo near me but it was worth the 46 minute trip. For two adults and two children, I paid $49 for us all. It was really busy and super crowded so u was happy I purchased my tickets online, the ticket line had over a 30 minute wait. There are a lot of information on the animals all over the zoo and lots of interactive activities throughout the Zoo. The animals seemed to he cared for very well. I love how close you are to the animals. The lions were so close only a piece of glass separated us from them. It was a very enjoyable experience.

We had a blast with our Discover Camp kiddos. The weather was perfect and almost every animal was out and visible. All the kids seemed really interested in the exhibits and even paid attention to the signs outside each enclosure. Staff was readily available to answer any questions. The only negative about the zoo itself was that its pretty small, so adults will probably get bored easily. But for kids its the perfect size.

We had a fun afternoon at the zoo! It was way busier than we expected for a Wednesday but it was great to see so many people out and about and enjoying themselves. We bought tickets and our parking pass online like suggested. It did make it easier and we didn’t have to wait in line so that’s a good tip! I would also suggest bringing food for your little ones. The food line was very long and kids weren’t enjoying waiting so long. The zoo wasn’t as big as we expected it to be but we still had a great time and think it was worth the money we paid.

I was a kid of the 80s, so I pretty much grew up at this zoo.The Akron Zoo was pretty much a city park with exotic animals in cages way back in the day and now I stand in awe and amazement of what they have done with this piece of beautiful land that was donated she did city of Akron way back in the fifties I believe and all of the exotic animals they have helped with a home. This will always be one of my favorite little zoos, I had always enjoyed bringing my sons here as they were growing up. My recent trip to the zoo was just awesome I was accompanied by my service dog who is in training, this was her 1st time at a zoo and also accompanied by my 17 year old son. The zoo welcomed my service dog with open arms, they even announced over the allowed speaker there was a service dog in the zoo. That in itself helped relieve a lot of my anxiety and made it so much easier to concentrate on training. But boy howdy how the memories just come flooding back walking through the zoo. I absolutely love the new addition wild Asian!!! Great time at the Akron Zoo even though its small and doesnt take long to walk through as an adult it still an awesome place, especially for family with young children to come and hang out for the day. Cant wait well be back real soon for another visit!!!
